Nordstrom sells every type of clothing for men, women, and children. They also have a huge selection of shoes, jewelry, and beauty products. Nordstrom is known for being home to a number of designer brands and offering stylish, quality products.

Thousands of options

There are over 3,000 swimsuits listed on Nordstrom's website. Some of the categories of these suits are bikinis and tankinis, cover-ups, one-pieces, swim brights, bridal swim, maternity swimsuits, and plus size.

Bridal and maternity swim options

The bridal swim and maternity categories are fun and unique and we haven't seen these anywhere else. The maternity selection is so flattering and would ensure that any pregnant woman felt cute and confident with their baby bump at the beach. The bridal swim selection is mostly just a selection of all the white swimsuits Nordstrom has, but it's a fun idea.

All the choices you need

You'll find a swimsuit in nearly every style and shade at Nordstrom. Their swimsuits appear to be top quality and many of them come in a variety of colors. There are a lot of handy tools on Nordstrom's website to help narrow down your selection and find something that "suits” you (see what we did there?). Whether you're most comfortable in a bikini, tankini, or one-piece, Nordstrom offers hundreds of each. Their swimdresses are also beautiful and could be worn over a swimsuit or as a daily sundress. There are so many amazing options here.

Nothing cheap about Nordstrom

When you're shopping at Nordstrom, you should expect that many of the swimsuits are made by posh brands, so you might have a bit of sticker shock. A simple-looking swimsuit might easily be $150 or as much as $950. Ouch. But rest assured that there are plenty of affordable choices too. There is an "Under $100” category with 1,650 swimsuits, so head there first if you don't want to see options that are out of your budget. On average, most of these swimsuits are still around $50 - $80, so still more expensive than some other stores we've reviewed, but also what we'd expect from Nordstrom and for a well-made swimsuit that is built to last.

Sizes for everyone

With such a huge inventory of swimsuits, it was good to see that Nordstrom offers swimsuits ranging from size 0 (XXS) - 28W (4X) and maternity sizing ranging from 0 (XS) - 18+ (XXL). There is a thorough size guide that Nordstrom offers to help make sure you order the right size the first time. We wish they gave model sizing, but they do list if the swimsuit runs small, true to size, or big. If the swimsuit you're viewing has reviews left by other customers, this may give you good insight to what size you should order as well.

Free returns, unlimited timeframe

One way Nordstrom shows they are committed to customer satisfaction is by allowing returns at any time. There's no time limit, so as long as you have proof of purchase, the hygienic liner in place, and your swimsuit in new condition, you can return it at any time for a full refund either in-store or by mail with a prepaid shipping label. They also offer free shipping on all purchases, so you'll never pay shipping in any form when you shop at Nordstrom.

Great company

Nordstrom is a classy, reputable company and it's no shock that the Better Business Bureau has given them a high "A-” rating. They are well-liked by their customers and offer quality apparel and swimwear.

Old Navy was created as an offshoot of the store Gap and was meant to be a more affordable version of the company. Most people recognize Old Navy's brand and have either shopped online or visited one of their 1,100+ stores throughout the United States. And are you even American if you haven't sported a classic old Navy flag shirt on the 4th of July at some point?

Organized and inclusive

Old Navy has nearly 500 choices for you to browse if you're shopping here for a swimsuit. Their styles include bikinis, tankinis, one-piece dresses, and cover-ups mostly ranging from XS - 4X sizes. When you're browsing swimsuits, you can even select if you want to see everything on small, large, or extra-large models, which is pretty cool. Old Navy's website is well-organized and they have all their swimsuits arranged by color/pattern if you want to look through all of them, or you could sort by price, fabric material, neckline, fit, details, coverage, and more.

Great product details

When you select a swimsuit you like from Old Navy, you'll see a list of colors it comes in and all the sizes that are available. The company provides photos of the swimsuit with product details and how to care for the material. Lastly, you can reference their size guide to find the right fit and Old Navy lists the height and size their models are wearing to help too. Customers can leave feedback about the swimsuit with up to a 5-star rating, comments about the swimsuit, and if it fits true to size.

Always a sale

One thing that we love about Old Navy is their prices. This is a reputable enough store that we've shopped at over the years to know that what you see online is what you get. Their quality isn't the best out there, but it isn't flimsy either. Clothes always appear as they do in the photos online and their sizing is accurate. That's why when we are looking for a pink one-piece for example, it is satisfying to see that not only was the original price only $29.99, but it's on sale for $17.99. It's rare to add something to your cart at Old Navy and pay full price for it. Nearly all their swimsuits are $35 or less.

If you live near an Old Navy store, you could shop everything they have to offer online (and get the lowest prices) and then do a free in-store pickup if your items are in-stock nearby. Otherwise, you'll pay at least $9 for standard shipping and more if you choose to expedite your order. Swim Outlet isn't the first place you'd think to look for trendy, unique swimsuits for a relaxing beach vacation (but they do have plenty). This place is mostly for more serious swimmers who regularly dive into the pool for a workout. Most of their photos feature some version of people in a pool with swim caps and goggles, some looking like they are competing with a team. This isn't to say you can't wear these types of swimsuits for fun, but Swim Outlet caters to a more specific (athletic) market.

It's possible that of all the stores we're reviewing, Macy's takes the cake for the biggest selection of swimsuits. There are over 3,700 results from an extremely long list of brands like Billabong, Calvin Klein, Cupshe, Hugo Boss, Nike, Spyder, Tommy Bahama, and many others. You can shop for a specific brand, style, price, customer rating, gender, age group, or size. So what's the deal with this company? Cupshe aims to celebrate women by designing affordable swimwear with every body shape in mind. These numbers are likely constantly changing as they add new inventory. The sizing at Cupshe is very inclusive ranging from XS - XXLDD. You can narrow down swimsuit options by size alone or choose to look at a specific color or trend. There are so many different styles here varying from bright floral cheeky high waisted bikinis to scalloped necklines on a lavender purple tankini to a tasteful, classy black one piece and everything in between.

Some swimsuits haven't had any reviewers, which isn't helpful. Others have quite a few along with pictures of people in swimsuits. Most of them are actually really positive and people like the look, materials, and fit. For each swimsuit, Cupshe gives details about their model's height, bust, waist, and hips along with product features and how to care for the swimsuit, so you should be able to gauge your size pretty accurately before ordering, which will help with overall satisfaction.

Return shipping based on quantity

There is a standard 30-day return policy at Cupshe, so you can send back your suit within this time for a full refund minus shipping costs. If you're returning 1-2 swimsuits, the charge is $5.69. Normally we'd want to run from somewhere like this, but interestingly, there are nearly 200 reviews on the BBB's site that give Cupshe extremely high ratings - nearly 5/5 stars. Other third-party sites have nearly 15,000 customer reviews for this place and overall they are rated quite high. Many people report being a loyal customer of Cupshe for years and having no issues during that time. Prices are so low that it is low-risk and people say their customer service is fantastic, so they feel confident when shopping here.

Give them a try

Cupshe is a store that seems too good to be true, but it turns out this really might be a fantastic place for you to get your next swimsuit. We wouldn't expect that what you buy from here will last years or be suitable (ha) for heavy wear, but for the most part, we trust that the color, style, and sizing will be what you see online. Aerie is part of a family of brands under the AEO umbrella. This company's portfolio of brands sells trendy apparel, intimates, activewear, accessories, and personal care items. Aerie's sister companies include American Eagle, Todd Snyder, and Unsubscribed. AEO was founded in 1977 and launched Aerie nationwide in 2006. They've become a favorite place for many people to buy swimsuits, since they carry over 200 options.

Simplicity and comfort

You can sort the swimsuits at Aerie by type (bikini, bikini bottoms, one piece suits, swim accessories, swim coverups, cheekiest, cheeky, and full coverage). You can also narrow down options by color, size, and price. The styles you find here aren't extremely unique and there are no wild patterns, but rather they come in a lot of solid colors and are meant for people looking for comfort and simplicity in their swim apparel. They only have bikinis and one-pieces, so if you like mid-coverage like a tankini, you won't be finding that here.

Decent website

One annoying thing about shopping online at Aerie is that if you want to get to their help tools at the bottom of the page, you have to scroll through all their swimsuits first. It's not a huge deal, but it felt like it wasted a bit of our time. As far as product descriptions on the individual swimsuits go, they had good pictures and angles to look at, easy to find sizing and color options, and good details about the materials and care. The only thing really missing is that we wish Aerie listed the model's height with the swimming suit size to help us gauge our own size better.

Lots of ways to save

Most of the swim bottoms and tops at Aerie seem to hover around the $20 - $50 range. However, there are tons of ways to save here. For example, if you sign up for Aerie's email list, you'll save 10% on your order. Even better, they had a buy one get one free sale going on when we were shopping. So essentially we got two suits for the price of one. Can't beat that! If you spend over $75, you'll get free shipping, otherwise expect to pay about $8 for standard delivery.

No return timeframe

If you aren't loving the fit of the swimsuit you buy from Aerie once it arrives, it's no problem. As long as you leave on the hygienic liner and have proof of purchase, you can return it for a full refund by mail or in-store. If you send it back via mail, a $5 shipping fee will be deducted from your return amount. Since there are 295 Aerie locations worldwide, you might consider doing an in-store return to get the most out of your refund and save the hassle of mailing it back. The best part of this return policy is that there is no timeframe for when you have to send your swimsuit back. If it takes you three weeks, that's ok. If you forget about it and decide to return it a year later, you'll still get your full refund.

Read product reviews

The Better Business Bureau gives Aerie an "A-” rating. This is a really popular store and they have thousands of reviews, but a lot of them are in regards to clothing or underwear they sell, not swimsuits. If you want an accurate review of a particular swimsuit, read the customer reviews on the individual product page. For swimsuits especially, this is helpful in finding out how well they fit and hold up in the sun and water for days at a time. We're glad that Aerie lets customers leave unfiltered feedback.

Doesn't cater to all

Overall, we like Aerie if you want a simple swimsuit that's pretty inexpensive. Women who want on-trend patterns or tankini styles will probably find themselves looking elsewhere though. Aerie has a generous return policy, which makes it a safe place to shop, but it still might not be a place everyone is excited about, so this swimsuit store has earned a slightly above average rating from us.

They are sister stores with Madewell, another popular retail store that sells beautiful, classy, and trendy clothing. When you shop at J. Crew, you know you're getting well-made, timeless clothing that will last.

Tasteful selection of swimsuits

When people shop at J. Crew, they likely don't think of swimwear, but they do have some good options. There are 80 bikini tops, 85 bikini bottoms, 32 beach coverups, 75 one-piece swimsuits, and 8 swim dresses. The styles here are timeless, so you won't buy a swimsuit here and want to ditch it next year because it's out of style and you're bored of the wild design. These swimsuits are tasteful and work for all times of year and seasons of life.

Organized website

If you scroll through all of the swimwear at J. Crew, it will go by color scheme. This makes it feel organized and gives you a good taste of what they have to offer. Most swimsuits have quite a few color choices, so you have a good variety here. Like most websites, you could also sort their swim collection by silhouette, coverage, support, size, color, pattern, and price.

True to size

Most of the swimsuits from J. Crew are solid colors or minimal patterns like stripes or checked. We were viewing one of their light blue bikini tops for just $29.99 and found that their sizing potentially ranges from XX-small to 3X. They have a size chart, but they also take data from people who leave reviews to let you know if the swimsuit fits true to size or not. You can read all the customer reviews for yourself at the bottom of a product page and get information about quality, comfort, and size accuracy.

Reasonably priced

Swim bottoms range anywhere from $10 - $35 depending on the color you select. Most of their swim tops or one-pieces are between $35 and $55 with some exceptions. Some of their priciest swimwear is nearly $200 for a swimsuit and up to $600 for a swim dress. For the most part, the swimsuits here are reasonably priced, especially when you consider that J. Crew is not known for being "cheap” by any means. Depending on the time of year you're shopping, J. Crew will run sales that help to offset the cost of their clothing. At the time of this review, they had a code for up to 50% off select styles and 40% off others.

30 days to make a return

As part of a sale, J. Crew will sometimes offer free shipping. Otherwise you should expect to pay $5 for standard shipping on your order. If you need to make a return, you have 30 days to send your swimwear back (with the hygienic liner and in new condition, of course) for a full refund, minus $7.50 if you use J. Crew's shipping label.

Rocky reputation over the last few years

J. Crew earns an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. Interestingly, we also saw that they filed for reorganization bankruptcy in 2020 which allows them to continue operating with court supervision while they go through a reorganization process. This company took a big hit during the pandemic and has been trying to recover ever since. Most product reviews are really positive and J. Crew has long been a reliable, high quality retailer. However, some recent reviews shed light on the frustrations people have experienced here. These include price discrepancies, website glitches, difficulty with returns, and poor customer service.

Better than average

We aren't concerned that J. Crew's swimwear will fall apart after a few uses or that you'll order a one-piece swimsuit and receive a pair of denim jeans instead. This company is legit and most people have a good experience when they shop online at J. Crew. Based on customer reports, our only concern is if you need to make a return and it doesn't go as smoothly as you'd like. We're optimistic that people will like the swimsuits they purchase from J. Headquartered in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Kohl's is an American department store retail chain with over 1,165 locations that operate in every state except Hawaii. Their online store features a mix of nearly everything you could need for home furnishings and clothing. They also have a massive selection of toys, books, jewelry, beauty products, and unsurprisingly, swimwear.

Melting pot of brands and styles

When you shop at Kohl's, you never know what you're going to get. They don't make or design most of their own products, but rather sell things from thousands of brands. When you come here, it's a melting pot of fast fashion styles, so instead of looking for one specific thing, you might just come to see what they've got and hope you get a good deal on a swimsuit style you're excited about.

Almost too many options

The swimsuit collection at Kohl's is a mix of swimsuits, cover-ups, board shorts, beach towels, water slides, and sunscreen for men, women, and children. They have over 2,500 results, so you'll want to narrow them down by gender, color, brand, size, price, and anything else that's relevant. Even then, the selection is pretty random where some patterns are loud and seem like your run-of-the-mill styles that you don't expect much from. Others are simple and something you probably will find in the back of your drawer 10 years from now because it was so plain that it never really went out of style.

Known for low prices

Kohl's is known for their low prices, so you can plan on finding a swimming suit on sale or even for a pretty good price if it's not. At most, swimsuits are about $50 to $60 each, but you can easily get a top or one-piece for about $20 on sale. If you spend over $49 total, you'll get free shipping too. Kohl's is good about letting people write up honest reviews about all their purchases and posting them unfiltered on their site, so you know that even if you're getting your swimsuit for a low price, it's hopefully good quality and true to size.

Sizes X-small to XX-large

Most swimsuit sizes range from X-small to XX-large, so Kohl's isn't quite as inclusive as some other swimsuit stores. They have a general size chart for each swimsuit, but we wish they'd tell us details about the model and what size she is wearing too since this is always really useful.

If your swimsuit doesn't fit or you don't like it in-person as much as you hoped, Kohl's has a 180-day return policy, so you really can't go wrong with that. As is always the case with swimwear, you need to leave all hygienic liners on with tags attached to qualify for a full refund. You can either mail back your swimming suit or take it to your closest Kohl's if there's one nearby.

Established company

The Better Business Bureau gives Kohl's an "A” rating, but if you look at third-party sites to see what people say about this retailer, you'll get a headache. There are hundreds of scenarios when it comes to a store this big that may influence a customer's experience. Kohl's has a reputable history and is well-established, so we aren't worried about the bad things people say about their in-store experience with a clerk, a missed return window, or chips on a dining table. If you pay attention to the reviews on the swimsuit you want to buy, you'll more than likely have a good experience.

Decent choice

Kohl's is a decent place to shop for swimsuits and nearly anything else that you might need. Swimwear isn't their bread and butter and there is quite a random assortment, so it just isn't our favorite selection overall. If you need something quick that will do for a summer or that your kid will grow out of, Kohl's will do the trick. Otherwise we are more likely to shop at a store with a more timeless, beautiful collection of swimwear that will last a long time. Kohl's is a good option, but not our top choice, so they've earned an average rating.

If you're like us and were surprised to find that Zappos doesn't just sell shoes, then you'll be even more shocked to hear that they have over 2,200 women's swimsuits, 1,390 men's swimsuits, and 900 swimsuits for children. In addition, Zappos sells all types of clothing, shoes, and accessories. The company is based out of Las Vegas, Nevada and was founded in 1999 as a company named Shoesite. In 2009, Amazon acquired Zappos and still owns them today.

Big selection, minimal information

Although Zappos primarily markets their shoe selection, the massive inventory of everything including swimsuits will blow you away. You can sort by color, size (XXS - 19), brand, and price. When you're scrolling through all the options, some swimsuits show a "3 left in stock” or "1 left in stock” tag to let you know there aren't many left. Others have a bigger range of sizes available along with a size chart and some brief bullet points about the swimsuit design and how to care for it. You definitely don't get as much information as some websites provide, though. Customers can leave unfiltered reviews on each swimsuit, but there are very few products where people have done this.

Name-brand swimsuits

There is a long list of brands sold through Zappos like Adidas, AllSaints, Anne Cole, BECCA, Billabong, Madewell, Michael Kors, O'Neill, Roxy, Tommy Bahama, and so many others. Some of these brands create simple, wear-year-after-year styles that aren't wildly different from what you'll find elsewhere. Others have fun paisley patterns, bright stripes, and pretty florals. We wish that Zappos let you choose to only shop for one-piece, tankinis, or bikinis since all the styles are mixed together and it may take a bit longer to find what you're looking for that way.

Swimsuits for every budget

Since there's a filter for swimsuit pricing at Zappos, it makes it easy to see how many choices you have in your price range. The first category is the "$50 and under” with 782 options. Next is "$100 and under” with 1,721 choices, and the $200 and under” price range includes 2,202 swimsuits. Zappos provides free standard shipping on all orders without a minimum order total. Zappos might periodically run sales during certain seasons or holidays, but at the time of this review, we didn't see any major sales or discounts on swimsuits below the prices listed.

365-day return policy

Zappos won't charge a dime for return shipping anywhere within the United States. If you aren't 100% happy with your purchase, you have a whopping 365 days to send it back for a full refund (unless you buy something marked as final sale, of course) or exchange. Swimsuits need to be in their original condition with the tags attached in order to qualify for a full refund. To make things even easier, you could do a box-free, printer-free return at your local Whole Foods Market if you want to simplify.

Some unhappy customers

The Better Business Bureau views Zappos as a legitimate and reliable retailer and gives them an "A+” rating. Unfortunately, there are a lot of disgruntled customers who are frustrated with the company. We noticed that a lot of these people have had bad experiences buying shoes, which may have no reflection on their swimsuit shop. The main complaint is that buyers have had a hard time with getting their orders in a timely manner and some issues with customer service. Of course it's mostly unhappy, disgruntled customers who leave reviews, so we don't believe that Zappos is untrustworthy or all bad. Rather, if you happen to find a swimsuit with reviews, pay close attention to those and you'll more than likely have a good experience here.

An average option

Zappos isn't our favorite place for swimsuits since their product descriptions are minimal, there aren't many customer reviews, and their swimsuits aren't anything super special or unique. But there's also no good reason not to shop here either. We've given them an average rating since there are some other swim shops out there that we prefer, but Zappos has good pricing and a huge selection that is worth checking out.

Beachsissi says they are a global women's swim and fashion brand that was founded in 2017. They pride themselves in offering exclusive products from sizes 4-18 and cup sizes A to DD. There are nearly 1,000 choices when it comes to selecting a swimsuit from Beachsissi, so be ready to do some serious browsing.

Just for the girls

It's exciting to find a place that has so many swimsuit choices, so you'll want to select if you're looking for a bikini, tankini, one-piece, swim bottoms, or a coverup so that you don't spend all day scrolling. You can also filter by price, color, and size to speed things up. This is a swimsuit shop that's just for the girls, as they don't sell anything for men or children here. The styles you'll find at Beachsissi range from modest and comfortable to scanty and sexy. They have all different colors, patterns, and materials too, so there is a wide range of designs. There really is something here for every woman.

Non-inclusive sizing

When browsing the information on a swimsuit you like, you'll see sizing (usually S - XL, unlike what they boasted about their inclusive sizing), product details, and model info, which we appreciate. They also have tips to keep your swimsuit from fading, which you should definitely read if you want to keep your swimsuit looking new.

Quality concerns

For as many swimsuits as Beachsissi has listed, it's crazy that not a single one is priced above $39.99. As appealing as this is, it also makes us a tiny bit worried about quality. Swimsuits often have to stand up to a lot of wear and tear if you're using them all day at the pool or beach, summer after summer and wash after wash. Some of these swimsuit styles are so beautiful and ornate that we can't imagine the quality is amazing if we are only paying $20 - $30 for it.

15-day return policy

If you spend over $99 at Beachsissi, you'll get free shipping. That would mean you'd need to buy at least a few swimsuits here. If your order is less than $99, you'll pay $8.99 for shipping. Once your order arrives, if you aren't satisfied with the sizing or quality of the swimsuits, Beachsissi says you have 15 days to send them back as long as they're in new condition. The customer is responsible for the cost of sending their items back, but it doesn't list what the cost for that might be.

Questionable customer reviews

As part of the product descriptions, you can read customer reviews on some swimsuits. This should reassure us that Beachsissi sells quality items, but not a single review is negative and this is completely unrealistic. If the reviews are real, we imagine they only allow positive ones to be posted on their site, so they aren't as reliable for us as they should be.

Dodgy return policy

When looking up the Better Business Bureau rating for Beachsissi, we were directed to a page for "Linkshe”. This company has a "B-” rating and appears to be the parent company for Beachsissi. The BBB warns that they've received a number of complaints from customers alleging that Beachsissi does not follow through with promised refunds. Even when the correct steps are taken, buyers never receive their money back. This is in line with what we saw from people posting on other third-party sites. Many people found it nearly impossible to send anything back, so often people felt like it was all a waste of time and money.

Avoid potential problems

We want Beachsissi to be an amazing, high-quality swimsuit company since their pricing is amazing and we fell in love with one too many of their swimsuits. The designs are fun and beautiful, but there are too many red flags for us to ignore. Since most people who have left reviews about this company didn't have good things to say, we think it's best to avoid a potential problem and instead shop elsewhere for a swimsuit online.
