If you're asking yourself that question, you probably already know just how important the thyroid is to your overall well-being. Just as a refresher, the thyroid gland plays an essential role in our metabolism. Working in conjunction with the pituitary gland, the thyroid gland sends hormones into our bloodstream, affecting energy levels, mood, and much more.
What happens when the thyroid gland is under- or overactive? Some common symptoms are mood swings, constipation, slow metabolism and/or weight gain, fatigue, temperature sensitivity, and more. With today's busy lifestyles, who can afford to be operating at anything less than full power?

Thyroid Helper contains five ingredients: tyrosine, selenium, manganese, guggul, and ashwagandha. Unlike many competitor products, this thyroid support supplement goes to great lengths to explain how each of those components can improve your metabolism, energy and mood.
For example, the product page describes how selenium is critical to proper thyroid function because of how highly concentrated it is in the gland. Without the proper amount of selenium in the body, the ability of selenoprotein D1 to activate the thyroid hormone can drop by as much as 90%. If you want an in-depth explanation of how the thyroid works and how Thyroid Helper's ingredients can improve its function, you won't be disappointed.
What's not there
It was also reassuring to see which ingredients are NOT in this thyroid support supplement: no animal glandulars, no herbal stimulants, and no potassium iodide. There are compelling reasons not to include these ingredients in an effective thyroid health product, which you will also find explained very thoroughly on the Thyroid Helper product page.
Free shipping over $49
You can take 1-2 capsules of Thyroid Helper up to three times per day. It's recommended that you have the capsules before or between meals. That means that you'll be taking anywhere from 30 to 180 capsules each month, depending on the dosage level you select. This supplement is priced at $22.40 for a 90-capsule bottle and $40 for a 180-capsule bottle, so plan your purchase according to how much you expect to take it. Shipping is free on orders over $49; otherwise, expect a flat-rate fee of $6.50.
Solid satisfaction guarantee
Wellness Resources, the company offering Thyroid Helper, gives customers a solid satisfaction guarantee. If you're not happy for any reason, you can return your supplements to them for a full refund within 90 days of purchase. However, you can only get a refund on one opened bottle per product per address, so it might be worth it to buy the larger bottle of Thyroid Helper at first - to really make sure it's working for you.
Happy, loyal customers
The Better Business Bureau gives Wellness Resources a perfect "A+" rating, and the company has been in business for over three decades. Better yet, there are hundreds of happy customers who have given the company a perfect five-star rating, including some who have been loyal shoppers there for many years. Fast shipping, excellent customer service, and high-quality supplements are some of the most frequent compliments received by Wellness Resources.
Overall, Thyroid Helper has a good track record for improving thyroid health. Most customers will appreciate the generous return and refund policy, backed by a reputable company like Wellness Resources. This is a well-researched, tested product that's a great option for thyroid support. We give Thyroid Helper our highest rating.
Offered by Healthy Choice Naturals, Thyroid Essentials uses a carefully-crafted blend of herbs, minerals and vitamins to support the function of the thyroid.
On the Product Information portion of the product page, you'll find more details about how some of the ingredients work to restore nutrient balance in the body, promote iodine absorption, and so forth. We would have liked to see more background on some of the less commonly-known ingredients, like Bladderwrack and Schizandra, as well as any clinical studies that may have been done. The Related Articles tab, where we'd expect to find information like that, was empty.
This thyroid support product comes in capsule form, and you'll take two capsules daily with a meal. The instructions on the label just say to take two per day, but the FAQ recommends taking one in the morning and one in the evening, not only with a meal but also with a glass of water.
Long list of ingredients
The ingredients in Thyroid Essentials include the following:
Thyroid Essentials is one of the more affordable thyroid support products available today. You'll pay $22 for a one-month supply, with increasing discounts on orders of multiple bottles - $39 for a 2-month supply, $54 for a 3-month supply, and so on. Flat-rate shipping fees of $5.90 apply to all orders up to $100. But, keep an eye out on the Healthy Choice Naturals site for discount offers. During our most recent shopping trip, we spotted a discount of 15% and free shipping on orders of $75+ in a promotional banner at the top of the page.
Better return policy
Healthy Choice Naturals has improved their return policy since our last evaluation of Thyroid Essentials. You can now return your order within 90 days from your date of purchase, and there's no longer a minimum 2-month supply purchase requirement to be eligible for a refund. Opened/used products can be returned, but you can't get a refund for more than 90 days' supply.
Plus, the company enjoys a strong reputation with the BBB, as demonstrated by an "A+" rating and accreditation. Given that the Healthy Choice Naturals website comes across looking a little outdated, it's nice to have confirmation that they're still doing a great job of keeping customers happy - with no complaints registered with the Better Business Bureau. We might have liked to see some independently-verified customer reviews, in addition to the handful of testimonials on the product page, but with a generous return policy backed by a reputable company like Healthy Choice Naturals, we think that Thyroid Essentials continues to be a product worth considering for your thyroid health needs.
Thyroid Assist is a 100% herbal formula that targets fatigue and low energy commonly experienced by individuals with thyroid concerns.
There are only three ingredients in this product:
Thyroid Assist is one of only two thyroid support supplements in our review that doesn't come in capsule or tablet form. Instead, this product is administered as a liquid that you dilute in a small amount of juice or water. For adults and children ages 15+, the recommended dosage is 0.5mL, taken 2-3 times per day. So, with a full-strength dose (3 times per day at 0.5 mL), a bottle of Thyroid Assist will last approximately 40 days.
Pricewise, that makes this thyroid support option more expensive than most of the products in our evaluation: you'll pay $39.95 for a bottle. But, Native Remedies is well-known for having frequent promotions that could save you money. On our most recent visit, there was a pop-up offer of free shipping and a discount of up to 40% off for first-time subscribers to their email list. We also spotted a promo at the top of the site for a 10% discount and expedited shipping on orders of $89+.
In addition, most of the supplements sold by Native Remedies come with a Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer - so you could get three bottles for the price of two, or mix-and-match the remedies to address various health concerns in your household. Finally, if you try Thyroid Assist and absolutely love what it does for you, you can save 15% and get free shipping if you sign up for their Auto Delivery Service - making sure you never run out!
Money back guarantee
Another huge perk of shopping with Native Remedies is their extraordinary money-back guarantee. If you try any of their products for at least 30 days, you have a full year to return them for a full refund. You only have to return any product containers, used or unused, including your name and invoice or order number. You won't find any other thyroid support supplement that offers such a generous return policy. That makes it completely risk-free to give Thyroid Assist a try.
Good customer reviews
So, does Thyroid Assist work? There were about 30 customer testimonials on the Native Remedies product page, and nearly all of them gave it a perfect five-star rating. Many of them referenced using this supplement in conjunction with others (like AdrenoBoost or ThyroSoothe), so keep in mind that it may take both some trial-and-error and more than one thyroid support option to achieve the overall improvement in your symptoms that you're hoping for. We also want to point out that, unlike many companies, Native Remedies publishes ALL of their reviews, not just the positive ones. We appreciate that kind of transparency.
Thyroid Assist is a good option among thyroid support products, especially if you need a non-capsule format or if you prefer a supplement with a shorter list of ingredients than most. You'll spend more per month when using this remedy, but money-saving promotions and an unparalleled satisfaction guarantee might convince you to give Thyroid Assist a chance.
If you struggle with the symptoms of a hyperactive thyroid, ThyroSoothe may be one of the only products on the market designed specifically for you. Offered by Native Remedies, a well-established leader among retailers of all-natural products, this thyroid support supplement calms the thyroid gland and stabilizes TSH and T4 hormone levels:
3 main ingredients
There are 3 main ingredients in ThyroSoothe:
ThyroSoothe is administered in liquid form, diluting 0.5mL in a small amount of water or juice three times per day, for users ages 12+. This product is also safe for children ages 6-11, taken as one drop per year of age, also three times per day. That means that one bottle of ThyroSoothe should last approximately 40 days when administered at full strength, or longer for younger users.
At $39.95 per bottle, that makes this thyroid support remedy more expensive than most. The good thing is that there's almost always a discount or sale available when shopping at Native Remedies. You'll always want to look for pop-ups; during our last shopping trip, we got an offer of free shipping and discounts up to 40% if we subscribed to their email newsletter (first-time subscribers only). At the top of the site, we also saw an offer with expedited shipping and a 10% discount if our order was $80+.
Savings on more than 1 bottle
Finally, most of the supplements sold by Native Remedies, including ThyroSoothe, come with a Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer - and it's mix-and-match. So, you could stock up on your thyroid supplements for other health needs while saving some money. Last of all, ThyroSoothe and most other products can be set up to be delivered automatically on the schedule you prefer: not only are you making sure you never run out of product, but you're also saving 15% and getting free shipping on every shipment.
Because ThyroSoothe is designed for people with hyperthyroidism, it should go without saying that you shouldn't use this supplement if you have an underactive thyroid. Native Remedies also points out that using this product for Grave's disease or severe hyperthyroidism isn't recommended, and that you shouldn't use ThyroSoothe with other thyroid medications without input from your physician.
1 year satisfaction guarantee
There are two major reasons to try ThyroSoothe. First, it gets high marks from users who say that they've seen improvements in their sleep patterns, blood test results, mood and hot flashes. You can see customer reviews on the Native Remedies site. Second, Native Remedies backs this and every supplement they sell with an incomparable one-year satisfaction guarantee. If you try ThyroSoothe for at least 30 days and don't see results, you can get a full refund even if you've used up the entire bottle. Just return any bottles, used or unused, to Native Remedies and get your money back. That alone makes their products worth trying, because it's literally risk-free.
Great choice for certain people
ThyroSoothe isn't appropriate for everyone with thyroid issues, and it does cost more initially than many other thyroid support products. But, this supplement is an excellent choice for people with hyperthyroidism, and Native Remedies gives you plenty of ways to save money on your purchase and get a refund if it doesn't meet your expectations.
Thyroid Synergy is a product manufactured by Designs for Health, a company that proudly advertises itself as "the health care professional's trusted source since 1989". With a "science first" approach to developing supplements, the products offered by Designs for Health can be trusted to be of the highest quality and efficacy. In addition, the company held an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau at the time of our most recent evaluation.
List of ingredients
What ingredients does Thyroid Synergy use to support your health? The capsules include the following minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients:
These ingredients all work together synergistically to help maintain healthy cortisol, insulin and blood glucose levels; to promote a balanced conversion of peripheral thyroid hormone; and to support the overall healthy function of the thyroid.
Sold in a bottle of 120 capsules for $40, this gives you a two-month supply - Thyroid Synergy is taken in a 2-capsule dose once per day. That makes your per-month cost just $20, making this supplement one of the most affordable on the market. Plus, most customers will likely qualify for free shipping on their purchase.
Return policy questions
Unfortunately, this product doesn't have a clear-cut return policy. Designs for Health typically requires that refund requests be made within 30 days of delivery; only unopened products are eligible for return, and customers have to pay a 30% restocking fee. However, when their products are offered by third-party retailers, customers may get return policies that are more generous - or less so. We read in some customer reviews that they waited "too long" to try the product after receiving it and were ineligible to get a refund. Either way, we think you're unlikely to get a refund for any opened bottles of Thyroid Synergy, so count it as lucky if you're able to do so through a third-party seller.
Good customer feedback
Beyond the return policy, the more important question is how well this thyroid support product works. While we didn't find the "thousands" of reviews you might expect from a company bragging about being trusted by more than 50,000 physicians, we did see that many users give Thyroid Synergy a perfect five-star rating. We found numerous comments describing significant, consistent changes in TSH levels, being able to leave traditional thyroid medications behind, and definite improvements in symptoms (hair stopped falling out, weight loss, and so on).
Could be better
So, should you try Thyroid Synergy? From everything we see from satisfied customers, it definitely seems like a thyroid support product that works for a lot of people. Plus, being made by a company with a good reputation is always a positive sign. However, compared with other thyroid supplements that have clearly-defined, generous return policies, Thyroid Synergy winds up in the middle of our rankings.
If you're looking for better energy levels, more focus and clarity, and improvement in thyroid hormone production, Thyroid Support claims to be the product for you.
This supplement uses Ashwagandha, Iodine, Vitamin B 12, Selenium, Zinc and L-Tyrosine in capsule format, with two per day taken with meals. With a 30-day supply in each bottle, you'll spend $23.95 for a one-month purchase; discounts are available if you purchase two or four bottles at a time.
We always like it when providers of thyroid products offer an explanation of their products' ingredients, and Thyroid Support does a good job of that. Be sure to click on the plus signs for each ingredient to get more background on how each one improves your thyroid function - look for the image of the product bottle with a circle around it. Below that, you will also find quotes from reputable third-party sources like the American Thyroid Association and NCBI, backing the efficacy of the ingredients included in Thyroid Support (but not endorsing the supplement itself).
We're not so sure about the reputability of the makers of Thyroid Support, Vita Balance. While they list a Virginia address on their website, that address tracks to several different businesses that are unrelated to the health industry. Their listing with the Better Business Bureau says they have a reassuring "A+" rating, but the company address is listed as California. That was the first factor in our lower-than-average rating of this thyroid product.
Confusing return policy
The second red flag is the confusing returns policy listed on the site. Instead of coming out and saying whether or not there's a satisfaction guarantee or if you can get a refund, it talks about what to do if "goods do not match those that you ordered" and "goods... that have faults when they are delivered". Does it count if the thyroid supplement doesn't work for you? Or if you have a reaction? We don't get that impression from the returns policy, especially when it says that "goods must be returned in their original condition".
Few customer reviews
Finally, there were only four customer testimonials on the Thyroid Support site, and we found very few reviews anywhere else. Does this product work? Maybe, but it's hard to tell - and equally difficult to say if you will have any options for a refund if it doesn't work well for you.
Better choices available
For all of these reasons, Thyroid Support earns one of our lower ratings among thyroid supplements. We encourage you to consider the higher-ranked products in our evaluation, to make it more likely you'll see the results you're seeking.
Thyromine is designed to help you have healthy thyroid function and a better metabolism. According to their product page, this supplement contains herbs and minerals to support optimal thyroid function.
What are the ingredients?
Which ingredients are those? You won't find that information on the Thyromine website. The most you'll discover is that it shouldn't be used by anyone under the age of 18, or by those who are suffering from several conditions (such as high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, or any psychiatric diagnosis). You can't even see a product label.
What's the dosage?
How much Thyromine do you need to take for optimal health? Great question. But you won't find an answer for that on their product website either: look in the FAQ and you'll see that you'll have to wait until you receive your shipment to read the recommended dosage. That sounds pretty scary to us!
Return policy issues
Plus, returns are only accepted on unopened products within 90 days. So, if you try Thyromine and have a bad reaction or simply don't get the results you expected, you'll only get money back on the bottles you didn't use. Add that to nonrefundable shipping costs and a $6 per item return processing/restocking fee, and you'll soon see it's not worth it to attempt a refund. They're probably counting on that, given that their link to request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) takes you to a third-party site with even more hoops to jump through - and where they say your return processing fee is $10, not $6.
Where are they?
Thyromine is one of many health products offered by parent company Buy Health (alternately - and not creatively - also known as Health Buy). Given what you've already read about Thyromine, you probably won't be surprised to learn that Buy Health has an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau. The company's listing there has a US address, which doesn't even come close to matching up with the Delaware area code phone number or the international address in Cyprus listed on the Thyromine website.
So, let's summarize: send at least $35 off to a company that promises to support your thyroid health, without telling you what's in the product or how much you'll need to take, and forget about trying to get a refund if it arrives and you are allergic to one of the mystery ingredients. Make a phone call which could be directed to California, Maryland, Cyprus, or some other unknown destination - if anyone even answers the phone. Sounds like a losing proposition all the way around. For all of these reasons, Thyromine is our lowest-ranked thyroid health supplement, and we strongly encourage you to consider the more reputable products in our review.
In an ideal world, you could eliminate all of the potential causes of poor thyroid function and return quickly to wellness. These causes can include stress, genetic predisposition to thyroid problems, less-than-healthy eating habits (including yo-yo dieting), even environmental pollution. But, realistically, many of those factors are beyond your control.
The good news is that there are many supplements available over-the-counter that offer thyroid support. These products tend to address thyroid health by providing an abundance of nutrients that have been shown to reduce symptoms and improve overall thyroid function. But, as with most products, your results may vary - and it can take some trial-and-error to find the product that works best for your body.
So, when considering all of the thyroid supplements on the market, how can you decide which one to try? Here are several criteria that may help you find the right thyroid support:
