On the Priority Tire website

Priority Tire is based in Allentown, PA and has been selling tires for over 20 years. This family-owned business expanded to include warehouses in Texas, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, and California, allowing them to store your tires safely and deliver them quickly, wherever you live in the US. And, if you've got questions or need help figuring out which tires to buy, Priority Tire has help available via phone, email, and live chat from 8A-9P Monday-Friday and from 8A-5P on Saturdays (all times Eastern).

Test case: over 200 options for Corolla, nothing for Tesla vehicles

When shopping here for new tires, you can start either by tire size (if you're a gearhead who knows that off the top of your head) or by vehicle. We used two specific cars for our comparison across tire stores: a 2021 Toyota Corolla and a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck, starting our search by vehicle. We were glad that Priority Tire correctly identified that the Corolla could come with different OEM tire sizes and provided a helpful diagram to where we could identify the right size on the tire itself. (Don't laugh: not everyone knows that.) This tire store had over 230 options for the Corolla, which went in price from $56.93/tire for the Landspider Citytraxx H/P All Season Tire to $291.99/tire for the Yokohama Advan Neova XL Tire. Unfortunately, Priority Tire kind of choked when it came to the Cybertruck: not only did they not offer a single tire option, they didn't even list Tesla as a brand we could choose. Sorry, Tesla fanatics, but this won't be the tire store for you...

Biggest brand selection online

But, assuming you drive a more standard make and model of car, you're not going to be disappointed by the selection at Priority Tire. They carry not a dozen or even a hundred but over a thousand brands: all of the big names you know, like Michelin and Firestone, and lesser-known manufacturers from A(ccelera) to Z(owin).

Check out the reviews on each tire

When you click on a tire that interests you, you won't get any nifty graphics showing you the tire's stopping distance on slick roads or its expected lifespan mileage-wise. But, you can click on the tire specs and details, or go to our favorite part: customer reviews. That's really going to come in handy if you're curious about one of those unknown-to-you brands we mentioned are on offer here.

Lots of ways to save

This tire store goes the extra mile (see what we did there?) to help you afford new tires. First off, they offer a 5% discount if you're a teacher, healthcare worker, first responder, or member of the military. They also offer several different types of financing, including options that let you buy now and pay later with low monthly payments. You may also be able to get $5 off your purchase as a first-time buyer with the code FIRST5, but better promos might be available at the top of the site (like the one at the time of our review that was $15 off an order of $150+). That's in addition to any manufacturer rebates that might be in effect, and you can see those right away on the Priority Tire website too.

Join the club for free

And, when you "join the club" by creating a free account with Priority Tire, you can unlock member pricing, discounts, and other promotions not featured on the main website. You'll find links for that on every tire's product page.

Installation is hit-or-miss

Installation is where things went a little off the rails for us. When we went to checkout and opted for free shipping to an installer, we were given a pop-up asking us to choose a store. It took us a few tries before we realized that it wasn't asking for a zip code but rather for an exact address; that let us choose our home, work, or any other place that we wanted a convenient location nearby. When we finally figured it out, we were only given two options within the radius we selected - both Action Gator Tire Stores - even though we were offered many local installation locations when shopping for tires at other stores. We weren't given the option to schedule an appointment or to know exactly how much it would cost for the installation, so it felt like we had to essentially order blindly and hope that someone on the shop's end would catch the ball and be available.

Terrific reputation

And yet, Priority Tire's reputation is fantastic. The Better Business Bureau gives this tire store its accreditation and an "A+" rating, showing its approval for how the company has handled the 170+ complaints registered there in the last three years. We were also surprised to see that almost 900 people visited the BBB to leave a compliment for Priority Tire. This retailer really seems to shine when it comes to faster-than-promised delivery and low prices, and we're happy to see glowing reviews from repeat customers too. We see the same positive feedback on Google reviews, Trustpilot, and pretty much everywhere we checked.

Better than average overall, but with room to grow

There are a lot of great things we could say about Priority Tire. The brand selection is unmatched, and tons of customers are really glad they chose this tire store for their purchase. We weren't as thrilled with the overall experience, especially compared with some of our top picks, and it was disappointing to see that Priority Tire won't even touch tires when it comes to Teslas. This retailer is certainly above average, but this score is as much as we can give Priority Tire in comparison with some of its rivals.

Which Tire Store is the Best?

Buying tires can seem like a daunting task, but with the right approach, you can easily navigate the process and find the best tires for your vehicle. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through it.

Start by assessing your driving habits and the conditions you frequently encounter. Do you drive mostly on highways, in the city, or off-road? Are you dealing with snow, rain, or extreme heat? The answers will help you decide whether you need all-season tires, summer tires, winter tires, or a specialized type like off-road or performance tires.

Look at your current tires to gather important information. You'll find the tire size on the sidewall, which includes a series of numbers and letters (such as 225/65R17). This tells you the tire width, aspect ratio, construction type, and rim diameter. Make sure the new tires match these specifications unless you're making a deliberate change for a specific reason.

Use online resources to research tire brands, types, and models. Many websites offer tools where you can input your vehicle's make, model, and year to get tire recommendations. Read customer reviews and professional ratings to get a sense of how different tires perform in areas like traction, handling, comfort, and durability.

Feeling overwhelmed? We've got a shortcut for you: just shop for your tires online. Most of today's popular tire stores can walk you through all of those things we just mentioned. Enter your make, model, and year (or, for some online stores, just your license plate or VIN), and you're good to go. You'll usually be able to see the research those retailers have done and benefit from their expertise, along with reviews from other car owners, in order to make your choice.

Once you've chosen your tires, the next step is to arrange for installation. If you're an automotive pro and you want to install the tires yourself, you do you (just make sure the store allows for that; some tire shops require professional installation in order to make a purchase). But, if you'd rather let an actual pro do the dirty work, check the options on offer. Usually, the tires will be shipped directly to the installer you indicate, and you can schedule an appointment to have them mounted and balanced on your vehicle. Some online stores even offer mobile installation services where a technician comes to your location to install them.

Still not sure which tire store to use? No worries. Here are a few criteria that can narrow down the options:

Tire Store FAQ

What should I consider when buying tires?
When buying tires, you'll need to know your vehicle's make and model, your typical driving conditions, and tire size. Most online retailers provide tools to help you find the right tires for your vehicle when you input those details, and some can even pull up your car's tire info based on your license plate or VIN.
How do I know what size tire to buy?
Your vehicle's recommended tire size can usually be found in the owner's manual, on the tire itself, or on a sticker inside the driver's side door. It's important to match the tire size for proper fit and performance; stick with that unless you're going for some kind of customization and you know what you're doing.
Is it safe to buy tires online?
Yes, buying tires online is perfectly safe when you purchase from reputable retailers. Many online tire stores offer secure payment options, customer reviews, and comprehensive return policies. Look for sites with positive feedback, a good rating from the Better Business Bureau, and a long history in the tire business.
How do I get the tires installed after buying them online?
Most online tire retailers partner with local installers. After purchasing, you can choose a certified installer near you where the tires will be shipped directly, and you can schedule an appointment for installation. Some offer mobile installation: the perfect choice if your vehicle can't currently be driven on the tires you have.
Are online tire prices better than in-store prices?
Usually, yes! Online tire prices are often more competitive due to lower overhead costs for the retailer. You might also find discounts, promotions, and bundle deals online that aren't available in physical stores. And, you've definitely got a better selection to choose from.
What if the tires I buy online don't fit my vehicle?
The best online tire retailers typically offer a fitment (yes, that's a funny-sounding word) guarantee, meaning if the tires don't fit your vehicle, they will exchange them or offer a refund. Be sure to review the return policy before purchasing.
Can I get a warranty on tires bought online?
Yes, tires purchased online usually come with the manufacturer's warranty, which is the same as buying from a physical store. Some online retailers also offer additional road hazard protection or extended warranties - either as a complimentary perk or at an added cost.
How do I know I'm getting a good quality tire?
To feel confident that you're getting quality tires, look for customer reviews, check the tire's performance ratings (like traction and temperature), and buy from well-known brands and trusted online retailers. Make sure the tires meet your typical driving needs and conditions, from your usual usage (commuter on the highway or leisure driver on back roads) to climate.
