ProForm, part of the Icon Health and Fitness family like NordicTrack, has over 40 years of experience selling fitness gear. ProForm and NordicTrack share some features, but ProForm's treadmills are often more budget-friendly.
Reasonable prices and free shipping
ProForm aims to make high-quality home workouts available to everyone by keeping prices reasonable and offering free shipping. Plus, all four models they offer were available during our review, which set them above some of the companies that had multiple treadmill models out of stock.
Equipment overview:
Basic model: Carbon TLX
The basic model at ProForm is the Carbon TLX. This model costs $999 and includes features like interactive training sessions and live class streaming Some of the other features include a user-friendly 7-inch multi-color display, a speed range from 0 to 12 mph, controlled with QuickSpeed Button Control, and an incline range from 0% to 12%. Adding to its technological appeal, the treadmill offers Bluetooth audio capabilities, complete with 2-inch speakers so you can add personalized music or audio content to your workout sesh. This machine also comes with a 30-day free trial of iFIT to use with your workouts.
Top-tier model: Pro 9000
The top-tier model at ProForm is the Pro 9000. This model costs $1,999, which is much cheaper than many of the other top-tier models we've seen in our review. This treadmill model features upgrades such as:
The Pro 9000 has the same speed range as the Carbon TLX (0 to 12 mph), and it has the QuickSpeed Button, for easy changes to your speed and incline. However, we noted that for an additional $1,000, there aren't a lot of improvements other than the touchscreen. Still, it is still much more affordable than many competing top-tier treadmills at other brands. Plus, you can expect the 30-day free trial of iFIT here too.
30-day returns with fees
ProForm shares the same return policy as its sibling site, NordicTrack, and even though this is pretty common in the industry, it's a bit of a letdown. If the ProForm treadmill you got isn't what you had in mind, you can send it back within 30 days from when it was delivered. But you have to pay a $250 return shipping fee to do so, and there's an additional 10% processing fee on top of that. So, you may want to be sure about your purchase before you go with ProForm.
Ratings have dropped recently
People generally like ProForm treadmills, and customers often give positive feedback. ProForm holds a solid "A" rating from the Better Business Bureau. Looking at third-party reviews on Sitejabber, ProForm gets an average of 3.9 stars, although recent reviews are not as positive. On Trustpilot, however, the average rating drops to 1.5 stars. Some customers, especially from early 2023 onward, have had trouble reaching ProForm's customer service, which can be a problem when machines need fixing. Since ProForm offers a 10-year warranty, it can be frustrating if you face difficulties getting the repairs as promised.
Some questionable reviews earn it a mid-tier rating
Despite the low prices and the "A” rating from the BBB, ProForm doesn't succeed as much as you might expect. With reviews showing that the company's machines aren't as reliable as they should be (especially a low 1.5-star rating from Trustpilot), there are concerns about how well ProForm is delivering on its warranty promises. This, coupled with the limited changes between basic and top-tier machines, means that ProForm doesn't stand out as well as its sister brand. ProForm is a good choice to check if you're looking for low-cost treadmill options, but it's not the best brand out there, settling just higher than mid-tier overall.
With a rising interest in health and fitness, treadmills have become very popular in recent years. A treadmill is a traditional but reliable piece of equipment, offering a way to bring the jogging track (or your favorite uphill hikes) into your personal home gym. Putting in even a half-hour on a treadmill can promote heart health and aid in weight management.
Treadmills allow you to control the intensity of your workout, adjusting speed and incline according to your fitness level. The convenience of having a treadmill at home eliminates weather constraints or time limitations, making it easier to maintain a consistent exercise routine right in the comfort of your home. And buying a treadmill online has become easier than ever before.
Instead of driving to different exercise equipment stores, and listening to various sales pitches, you can shop right from the comfort of you own home. You can explore a wide variety of brands, models, and pricepoints. And many companies even offer free shipping, right to your door.
Treadmills are a popular choice for many due to their advantages. Treadmills offer a predictable and cushioned surface, reducing the impact on joints. So, for joggers looking for an option that's lower-impact than running outside or on a track, treadmills can create a perfect solution. The machines offer a range of fitness levels, from walking for beginners to high-intensity sprints for advanced workouts. Whether you're getting started on your home gym journey or you're a seasoned athlete, a treadmill is a great addition to your workout routine.
As you explore various treadmill brands, you'll discover a wide array of options on the market. Modern treadmills come equipped with features like built-in screens for virtual classes, fitness app connectivity, and even virtual jogging tracks like mountainscapes that make it feel more realistic for runners who prefer the challenges of outdoor exercise. Even if you've been to the gym in the last few years, you may be impressed with some of the major technological improvements in today's treadmills.
Today, treadmills are more than just a simple cardio tool. They can serve as your personal fitness cheerleader, providing stats to track your progress and celebrate fitness milestones. Whether you pick one with a touchscreen or just the usual LCD stat trackers, you can rest assured that you'll get a full rundown of your fitness and performance whenever you need it.
Choosing the right treadmill can be daunting with the number of treadmill brands available. Some of the models and brands look so similar you might be asking: "What's the difference?” Don't worry.
