Initially known for its refrigerators, Frigidaire is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The company introduced the first self-contained refrigerator in 1916 and has its origins in the Guardian Refrigerator Company. The company was then acquired by White Consolidated Industries in 1979, where Frigidaire expanded its product offerings to include stovetops, washers, dryers, and other appliances. Finally, in 1986, it became a part of Electrolux which remains its current parent company.
Appliance Overview:
Basic set: Gas Washer/Dryer Laundry Center
While the Gas WasherDryer set is more expensive than the true base set, the Gas Washer/Dryer Laundry Center was in stock at the time of our review, making it the most basic option you can purchase. The Frigidaire Gas Washer/Dryer Laundry Center combines a 3.9 cu. ft. washer and 5.5 cu. ft. dryer. With the MaxFill mode, you can maximize the water level for your chosen cycle, while the washer's generous capacity accommodates even king-size comforters. Offering 10 wash cycles including Delicate and Bulky and 6 dry cycles such as Activewear and Air Fluff, you can customize your laundry day for the type of clothes or linens you have on hand. With the Quiet Pack technology, this laundry center offers quieter operation for a more peaceful laundry experience. The price ranges from $1,298 to $1,949 depending on whether or not there is a sale.
Top-tier set: Electric Long Vent Washer/Dryer Laundry Center
The top-tier model at Frigidaire is the Long Vent Laundry Center. This set pairs a 3.9 cu. ft. washer with a 5.5 cu. ft. dryer with a similar capacity and features to the basic model. Some upgrades include Quick wash and dry cycles and the long vent design. With the largest laundry center washer capacity, you can fit more clothes into every load. The Long Vent Washer and Dryer offers 11 wash cycles, including options like Delicate and Activewear, and 6 dry cycles such as Bulky and Air Fluff. The price ranges from $1,398 to $1,899 depending on if there is a sale.
Free shipping included
Two of the Frigidaire laundry centers were unavailable for purchase at the time of our review, so we weren't able to see their shipping options. The good news? It's free on any available laundry appliances. On top of that, you can opt into some delivery extras (at a cost) to make your setup easier. You can get full delivery and install for $49 and add on the disposal of your old washer and dryer set for $35. If you want to add to the standard 1-year warranty, you can select 1, 3, or 5 years, priced at $95.95 for 1 year, $224.95 for 3 years, and $331.95 for 5 years of protection.
7-day free returns
Frigidaire offers a 7-day money-back guarantee and free returns, so you can rest assured if something goes wrong or your new laundry center doesn't fit, you can send it back for a full refund. This policy also allows you to return your appliances to Frigidaire within a week without incurring extra shipping fees, setting it apart from many competitors.
Mixed reviews with some praise for size
Frigidaire, although not individually assessed by the BBB, operates under the ownership of Electrolux, which maintains an "A+" rating and accreditation. Ratings for Frigidaire washers vary across different platforms. While ConsumerAffairs indicates a 1.6-star average rating for Frigidaire's washer and dryer sets, other retailers show that customers left an average of 4 stars in most reviews. Customers who favored the Frigidaire sets praise the size and the ease of use for their laundry centers. Customers loved the large washing and drying capacity. However, some negative reviews noted that while the washer works well, the dryer often has "excessive lint”. Others complained about manufacturing issues like screws coming loose or bearings going out, causing the unit to stop working entirely.
Could use some more inventory
While Frigidaire surpasses some competitors that lack positive feedback entirely, its restricted inventory, with only three sets available and only two in stock at the time of our review sets Frigidaire a little behind its competitors. Its return policy is solid, and it has some positive reviews to recommend it, which earns it a slightly higher rating than some of its competitors. With all things considered, Frigidaire earns a lower rating for washer and dryer combo sets.
