Basic set: GE White On White Package

This is the most basic model available from GE. Our prices for this review are based on one retailer, so you may be able to find other prices elsewhere. The set costs $1,049.99 for the washer and dryer. The 4.5 cu ft Top Load Washer features Deep Fill, allowing you to adjust water levels with the touch of a button. It also offers a Deep Clean Cycle with improved cleaning power and a Speed Wash option for quick cleaning of lightly soiled items. With 14 wash cycles and 6 water temperatures to choose from, you can customize your laundry experience. For the dryer, you can expect a 6.2 cu. ft. 3-cycle unit. The machine comes with Auto Dry along with 3 heat selections for personalized fabric care. However, neither the washer nor the dryer in this set is Energy Star Certified.

Top-tier set: GE High-Efficiency Stackable Package

This is the top-tier set offered by GE. The price for the pair is $1,899.98 which is 20% cheaper than buying the items separately. The GE 5.0 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Stackable Smart Front Load Washer features the UltraFresh vent system with OdorBlock, which helps eliminate excess moisture to keep the washer fresh. It also includes Microban antimicrobial technology, protecting against bacteria in various components. The 1-step Wash + Dry function lets you wash and dry small loads in the washer without the need to change loads. PowerSteam provides deep cleaning, while built-in Wi-Fi allows remote monitoring and control. On the other half, the 7.8 cu. ft. 12-Cycle Gas Dryer features a Washer Link to sync with the washer settings, PowerSteam for refreshing and de-wrinkling, a Sanitize cycle for sterilizing, and built-in Wi-Fi for remote access. Both of the units in this set are Energy Star Certified.

Shipping costs change across retailers

You won't spot any dryers up for direct purchase from GE. Instead, the company directs you to local retailers stocking GE products. Whether you choose online shopping or visit a store, shipping or delivery expenses differ based on the retailer and your location. However, our investigation reveals that many of these retailers provide free shipping, though one retailer we looked at did charge $29 for delivery.

Double-check returns where you end up buying

If you ever need to return an appliance to GE, you have 7 days from the delivery date to get a full refund or replacement, without any extra restocking or pickup fees. However, if your request falls between 7 and 30 days after delivery, there will be a 25% restocking fee and a pick-up fee deducted from your refund. But, since you have to buy your washer and dryer sets from anywhere but the GE website, you will want to check the specific return policies for where you choose to purchase your laundry set.
