You can request a return within this timeframe from the delivery date for a refund on products in new and unused condition, excluding initial testing by the delivery team. The washers receive a 4.2-star rating across different retailers. While this isn't too bad, it is slightly lower than many options that have 4.3 or 4.5 averages out of 5. According to the reviews, customers feel like their Whirlpool washers are good in general but "a bit different” according to customers who find the machines a bit confusing. There are also regular complaints about how noisy the washers are. Free shipping on all washers

LG offers free in-home delivery for all of its washers. Some of the washes will also come with free installation and haul away on top of the shipping. To see which items are eligible, just look at the listing. If you don't get haul away and installation included, you can pay for it during checkout as an add-on. Separately, installation costs $29, and haul away costs $25, adding a total of $54 on top of the cost of your washer.

Returns within 15 days

For purchases made directly from LG, you can request a return during the 15 days following delivery. If your reason for returning is related to shipping, delivery discrepancies, or damaged products, you need to report those issues to LG Order Support within 5 business days of delivery to qualify for a full refund. All returns are subject to an 8% restocking fee. And, if you don't make your return with everything in the original packaging and all parts included, you may only receive a partial refund.

Mixed reviews raise consistency questions

LG has one of the worst Better Business Bureau ratings in our review, but the reviews outside of the BBB platform offer a completely different story. With a "D-” rating from the BBB, we fully expected LGs to be one of the least popular washer brands. However, according to both customers and major platforms like USA Today, LG washers are among the most popular. LG washers earned an average of 4.3 stars out of 5 across different retailers. Customers love how large the LG washers are. Even the base-level ones offer competitive capacity options. Customers also praise the quietness of the washers. However, there are some reviews out there that left us with some concerns (and that gave us some idea of how LG got that "D-” rating). Some reviewers noted that while the LG washers held a lot of laundry, anything "messy”(the customer gave examples from her husband's blue-collar outdoor job) didn't come out in the wash. Other customers complained that half of the wash settings on their LG washer didn't work from day one. With mixed reviews and a "D-” rating from the BBB, we're a little concerned about LG's consistency.

It would rank higher, but the negative comments make us a bit worried about how well LG delivers great machines consistently. None of the washers we checked were able to be purchased directly from GE. Instead, the company directs you to retailers that sell GE products based on your local area. In those cases, the price of shipping or delivery will depend on where you buy or if you can go in person to pick up your new washer.

Up to 30 days to return

If you need to return a product to GE, you have 7 days from the delivery date to get a full refund or a replacement without any restocking or pickup charges. However, if you request a return or replacement after 7 days but within 30 days of delivery, there will be a 25% restocking fee and a pick-up fee deducted from your refund. If you buy from another retailer, you'll be subject to that company's return policies rather than GE itself.

A favorite for its lower-cost options

From retailers who allow customers to leave reviews, the feedback is much more positive. The washers from GE have an average of 4.4 stars out of 5, with over 2,000 individual reviews with 5 stars. Customers love the different wash modes, the large capacity, and the high quality of the GE machines at the lower tiers as well as the more expensive models, so customers can get the quality they want at lower prices with GE.

Great option for low-cost washers

GE offers an impressive range of low-cost washers as well as higher-tier machines that have impressive features and eco-friendly practices. With tons of positive reviews for this company, it stands out from the pack. You can also rely on GE to provide refunds if you need to make a return. The only downside? None of the washers were able to be purchased directly from GE. You have to find an outside retailer instead. For this slight inconvenience, GE earns a solid rating rather than something higher, but it's a highly competitive washer company for low-cost but reliable washing machines.

Best Buy doesn't handle its own manufacturing, and for dishwashers, refrigerators, washers, and dryers, Insignia appliances are produced by Haier, a Chinese-owned company specializing in major appliances. Despite being less recognized in the United States due to using different brand names, Haier is behind a large number of appliances sold in the US. Since this brand is pretty much owned by Best Buy, that's where you'll need to go to purchase an Insignia washer.

You can also choose from 5 temperature levels to suit what clothes you need washed. You can use the pre-soak function for heavily soiled laundry to soak before washing. Plus, the My Cycle feature saves your favorite settings for quick use. Finally, this model is Energy Star Certified to help reduce energy costs.

Shipping costs $29

Shipping costs at Best Buy are $29, which includes delivery and install, but it's not an optional fee. So no matter what washer you buy, there will be a $29 delivery fee. The only way to avoid this is to pick up the appliance yourself from the store. However, this won't include any install help, so you'll need to be prepared to do that yourself.

Standard returns within 14 days

If you're considering returning or exchanging your purchase, keep in mind that the timeframe for returns at Best Buy starts from the day you receive your product. The policy covers new, clearance, open-box, refurbished, and pre-owned items and includes purchases made at Best Buy, Best Buy Outlet, Pacific Sales, Pacific Sales Outlet, Magnolia Design Center, Best Buy Education, and Best Buy Business. The duration for returns varies based on your membership status: for Standard members, it's 15 days for most products, while My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members have 60 days for most items.

Best Buy doesn't offer the "best” experience

According to the Better Business Bureau, Insignia itself doesn't have a rating. But, its parent company/manufacturer, Haier does. Currently, Haier holds an "A+” rating from the BBB. The average customer rating for the Insignia brand is 4.3 stars on the Best Buy website. However, from other third-party sites, the reviews show an average of 2.3 stars out of 5, but that's for general Insignia products and not washers specifically. For the Best Buy ratings, Insignia washers were praised for their quiet operation, large capacities, and low power usage even on models that aren't Energy Star certified. Customers who didn't love Insignia washers complained that when things went wrong, they had to use Best Buy's Geek Squad to solve the issue and that was an unpleasant customer service experience. Others complained about having to purchase from Best Buy due to issues with deliveries and other service problems. In general, the complaints for Insignia appear to be more related to Best Buy as a parent company rather than the washing machines themselves.

Mid-tier unless you love Best Buy

While the prices aren't bad and Insignia receives high praise for its quiet washers and energy efficiency, many reviewers lament having to purchase the washers through Best Buy. With issues regarding deliveries and tech support, customers seem to like the machines but hate the shopping and support experience. This negative brings down Insignia's rating compared to other more customer-friendly brands sold at multiple retailers. For this reason, and slightly lower star ratings than its closest competitor, Insignia receives a good rating in our review for washers. But, if you're a Best Buy member, or love working with that company, you might enjoy Insignia for its pricing and benefits.

However, it does not include a sound-dampening package, and it lacks certification from Energy Star. This washer costs $679, which is higher than some other basic models that offer more features for the value.

Top-tier model: 4.8 cu.ft. Front Load Washer with Fresh Hold

The top-tier model from Maytag is notably more cost-effective than some of the other top models in the industry. The front load washer from the company features a 10-year Limited Parts Warranty on the Direct Drive Motor and Stainless Steel Wash Basket, for long-term durability. With a generous 4.8 cu. ft. capacity and 12 cycle options, it offers versatility for various laundry needs. This model also doesn't offer a sound package (although the Maytag site seems to imply some models do offer sound dampening, we couldn't find any), but it is Energy Star certified. You can expect to pay $879 for the top-tier Maytag washer, but it still appears to be missing many of the bells and whistles offered by other companies.

Free in-home delivery

Maytag offers free shipping for all of its washers. You can expect in-home delivery with protection for your floors as part of the free delivery. If you live on the second floor or need an upstairs washer, you're in luck: the in-home delivery covers deliveries that need to go to the second level too. Install doesn't come free, but you can add in installation for an extra $30, and if you want your old appliances hauled away, it's an extra $20.

Top-tier model: 4.3 cu. ft. Top-Load Washer with Dual Action Agitator

The top model available through Amana is the 4.3 cu. ft. Top-Load Washer. While this sounds like it's just the bigger cousin to the basic model, there are some notable differences. For example, there are only 4 temperature settings on the 4.3 cu. ft. model and only 7 wash styles. But there are upgrades too. The top-tier model is Energy Star certified for lowering utility bills. The four main cycles are specialized for the type of wash you need. These include:

The return policy is a little limited at Amana for an unusual reason. First, let's talk about timelines. You can return your appliances within 15 days as long as the item is in the original packaging and in like-new condition. If there is a problem with your washer and it's Amana's fault, you have 30 days to make your return. There's only one catch: Amana only allows you to make returns if you purchase from certain retailers. So, make sure that the retailer you pick has details about returns or you may be out of luck.

Tons of issues with the wash cycles

There is only one washer model to choose from at Frigidaire, which is much lower than most of the competitors in this review. Further, this single option was currently out of stock on Frigidaire's website, so you will need to find another retailer to purchase it. The price ranges from $768 to $999, depending on whether or not there is currently a sale for this washer. Features include 1 color, 12 wash cycles, a "MaxFill'' setting to get as much laundry in one load as possible, and a quick load setting for those smaller emergencies. However, unlike many competitors, the High Efficiency Top Load Washer is not certified by Energy Star, which means it is less eco-friendly than some machines.

Shipping costs depend on where you buy

Since the one washer available from Frigidaire was out of stock at the time of our review, we were unable to see any direct shipping prices. From alternate retailers, we found both free shipping and shipping that had quite a hefty cost attached. Some retailers also offered additional 2- and 3-year warranties for around $75 (2 years) or $110 (3 years).

Some negative reviews...

Frigidaire itself is not rated by the BBB, but the company is owned by Electrolux which currently holds an "A+” rating and accreditation. The reviews for Frigidaire's washers are different depending on where you look. For example, ConsumerAffairs shows that Frigidaire had a 1.6-star average rating for its washers.

...but some positive ones as well

However, ratings from customers on other retailers show that Frigidaire's washers have an average rating of around 4 stars. At one retailer there were over 2,000 Individual reviews praising things like how quiet the washer was and the quality of the features for deep clean and quick clean. For those who didn't love their Frigidaire experience, reviews state that parts broke repeatedly on the units and many customers needed expensive repairs for their washers.

Needs more washers to earn a higher score

While Frigidaire scores higher than some competitors who don't have any positive reviews, the fact that Frigidaire only has one washer (and it was out of stock) is a letdown. With other sites offering half a dozen or more washers, Frigidaire is falling behind. So, despite a better return policy and slightly better reviews, Frigidaire earns a lower rating in our review due to the small inventory and lack of availability.

Here's what you get for your money: a washer with a capacity of 3.2 cubic feet, featuring 4 preset cycles and 3 temperature selections. It comes with a 3-year warranty covering parts and labor and includes an automatic balancing system. Despite claims of being ultra-quiet, reviews suggest otherwise. There are no exciting AI features or technology bonuses compared to other washers in this price range.

Top-tier model: FF7010BN

If you thought the base model at Speed Queen was expensive, wait until you see the top model. This washer costs $2,559 for just the washer. Usually at this price point, you're looking at sets of washers and dryers together. Here's what you can expect for that price: A Flea Removal Cycle, exclusive to Speed Queen, which has been specifically developed and tested to combat flea infestations. This washer also comes with Dynamic Balancing, 11 preset cycles, and 4 temperature selections, though it has a just barely larger capacity of 3.5 cu. ft. compared to the basic model. You also get an upgraded warranty with a 5-year warranty covering both parts and labor.

Shipping isn't included

Speed Queen doesn't actually sell its own washers, so to find shipping costs, you'll have to locate a dealer or retailer that does sell the machines. Surprisingly all of the retailers that were suggested to us were smaller companies rather than name-brand appliance stores like Best Buy or Lowes. Most of the stores did not include shipping in the cost of the washer, which was surprising given how expensive Speed Queen units are.

Returns depend on your retailer

We ran into a similar problem with the return policy. Since you can't buy Speed Queen washers directly from its website, the return policy isn't helpful. You'll have to rely on return policies from the retailer you choose. For example, one Speed Queen retailer only offered a 1-day return policy. If you wait more than a day there will be restocking fees. Ouch!

Concerning reviews for something so pricey

Speed Queen currently holds a "B+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, which is a bit lower than most of the companies in our review that hold an "A” or higher. As for reviews on the washers themselves, it's hard to find any that aren't on the Speed Queen website, which raises some questions about how unfiltered those 4.9-star ratings might be. However, on third-party sites like Consumer Affairs, Speed Queen only has a 1.1-star average out of 5. Customers say that they bought the very expensive washers and immediately had issues with the computer parts of the dryer. Many customers complain that they can't get a response from Speed Queen to resolve issues with maintenance or broken parts. Finally, customers regularly complain that the washers are too loud with frequent banging noises during different parts of the cycle.

Isn't worth the cost

Despite a few things like a solid warranty offer, Speed Queen falls behind the pack. The washers are extremely expensive with no real reason as to why. While this isn't the least expensive option from Electrolux (that would be the 300 Series for $798), the 400 Series is the most basic washer in stock. Available for $848, this front-load washer comes in 2 colors (glacier blue and white), offers 7 cycles, and a 4.5 cu. ft. capacity. The "solid soil” setting provides a thorough clean, targeting stubborn stains like mud or dirt, and the 400 series was recognized as one of the most efficient Energy Star certified products in 2023. You'll get a 10-year motor and lifetime tub warranty backing your washer. The 400 series also offers a balance feature for smooth, quiet operation, allowing you to run it anytime without disturbing your household. Inside, luxury-design lighting offers illumination, making it easy to locate those stray socks. When you're shopping at Electrolux, keep an eye out for sales. At the time of our review, the $848 price appeared to be a sale from the normal $1,199 cost. However, there was no timeline listed for the sale period.

Top-tier model: 600 Series

The top-tier model at Electrolux is the 600 Series Front Load Washer with Smartboost. This washer costs $998 and comes with two color options: titanium and white. The capacity is 4.5 cu. ft. and you can expect 11 cycles from this appliance. The LuxCare Plus wash system provides evenly distributed detergent and additives, improved wash actions, temperature control, and smart load sensing. The StainSoak cycle tackles stains by premixing water, detergent, and stain remover before the cycle begins, with different temperatures, tumbling actions, and time-based on the selected stain. The Sanitize setting eliminates 99% of bacteria, while the Allergen cycle works for 95% of allergens. The 600 series also has the "solid soil” setting and the same Energy Star certification and 10-year motor and lifetime tub warranty. Like the basic washer, this model appeared to be on sale at the time of this review, so the $998 price is a sale from the regular $1,549 cost.

On all of the Electrolux washer models we checked, the standard delivery fee was listed as "waived' during checkout. So, shipping is free on all of the washers available at Electrolux. You can pay to add some extras to make the delivery process more efficient for you too. For example, Electrolux offers professional installation for $49, standard installation parts for $17.99, disposal of your old appliances for $29, and door swing reversal for $15.

Unclear return policy and no help from chat

The return policy for Electrolux is a little confusing. While the policy notes a 30-day return policy it seems to only apply to items like filters, accessories, consumables, and installation parts. However, in the actual language of the return policy, the only word used is "item.” We tried contacting the Electrolux customer service via chat; however, we were told they were having "higher than average wait times” and after 20 minutes of no answers, we finally gave up. Bottom line? You may want to treat the Electrolux return policy as a non-entity for washers and rely on your warranty instead. If you want to dig for more details, calling their customer service number may be the best way to go.

Quality doesn't shine at Electrolux

While Electrolux has an "A+” rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau, the reviews show a much more complicated picture of the company. According to the ratings on the BBB page, Electrolux only has a 1-star average with over 3,000 complaints from customers in the last 3 years. On other third-party review sites, Electrolux doesn't do well either. On Consumer Affairs, Electrolux only has a 1.6-star average. Most of the recent reviews were 1 star, with complaints about pull-out drawers on the washers breaking right away, washers stopping completely within months of purchase, and issues getting Electrolux to come out and repair the appliances. There is also a range of reviews talking about poorly-made parts like latches that don't work. Overall, quality appears to be a huge issue with this washer brand.

Not worth the trouble

Despite Electrolux's dedication to eco-friendliness, the issues with washer quality stand out above everything else. With some of the lowest ratings from customers in our review, Electrolux has a ton of red flags for its washers. With questions about sales vs. full price, and the difficulties finding details about returns, Electrolux doesn't impress on any front except eco-friendliness.
