4 Star Rating
  • Prices from $79 to $455,000
  • Sale watches up to 73% off
  • 8,581 different watches in stock
  • Free shipping on orders of $150+
  • 30-day return policy
  • "A+” rating and accreditation from the BBB

WatchMaxx is a family-owned site that offers 25+ years of experience with fine watches. Specializing in "investment-quality timepieces” (yep, you're looking at beefy price tags here), you'll find a range of luxury watches but at better-than-average prices. All watches at WatchMaxx are promised to be 100% genuine and have authenticity details included. The watches also come with full warranty protection and original serial numbers.

Narrow the options to exactly what you want

You can start shopping for watches here by looking through the entire inventory, or use the top navigation bar to browse by gender, brand, parts, or savings. Once you pick a place to browse, use the detailed filters including delivery time, brand, style, band material, case material, dial color, gender, movement, and sale price to find exactly what you're looking for. The individual listings show the brand name, the specific watch, and the serial number at a glance. The listing previews also show the total price and the savings offered. Once you click through the listing, you'll see details for payment plans, extended protection, and whether or not the item is in stock. Some watches come with free standard shipping and a free band adjustment too.

Impressive luxury inventory, but no smartwatches

There are 8,581 different watches available at WatchMaxx. 4,905 of the watches are designed for men while 3,427 of them are designed for women. You can expect to see brands like Movado, Tissot, Breitling, Victorinox Swiss Army, Oris, Longines, Luminox, Omega, TAG Heuer, Hamilton, and more. 1,855 of the watches are considered "luxury” and 404 of the designs are "sport”. The most popular dial color is black (1,828 watches) followed by blue (1,356 watches). However, there are no smartwatches offered by WatchMaxx. Even using search terms like "smart” or "smartwatch” on the website turns up zero results.

Prices from $79 to $455,000

To compare prices with other watch stores, we looked at the costs for women's and men's watches at WatchMaxx. We also found the best sale watch (by sale percentage); however, since there were no smartwatches at this retailer, we couldn't include them in our price comparison. The lowest-cost men's watch was an Invicta Pro Diver and the cheapest for women was a Coach Classic Signature. The most expensive watches were a men's and women's Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. We found the following price ranges across the inventory:

  • Men's watches: $89.95 to $455,000
  • Women's watches: $79 to $215,900
  • Smartwatches: Not offered
  • Best sale watch: Glashutte Original (women's) for $1,889 (73% off)

Shipping free for orders of $150+

Free shipping is offered by WatchMaxx within the contiguous US. You will need to meet a threshold of $150 to qualify for free shipping. Otherwise, the price of shipping will be $5. This includes standard ground shipping in 1-5 business days. You can also pay extra for expedited shipping ($19) and next-day shipping ($29).

Refunds within 30 days don't cover shipping

WatchMaxx offers a 30-day return policy for any new watches. If you choose a pre-owned item, you will have a more limited time of 14 days instead. Regrettably, shipping charges are not included in the return policy, so you will have to pay a minimum of $15 to ship back your watch. However, if you pay for your order with one of the payment processing partners at WatchMaxx (Amazon Pay and Affirm), your order will not have any restocking fees. If you want to exchange your watch, you can get a free exchange if your item is over $350. Otherwise, you will have to pay for shipping on exchanges too.

Solid reviews overall but some concerns about quality

WatchMaxx has an impressive reputation overall, including a full "A+” rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. The BBB also awards WatchMaxx a 4.3-star average out of 5. While the ratings are still good elsewhere, there are a few more complaints on sites like Trustpilot where WatchMaxx has 3.8 stars out of 5. In general, customers loved their experience and found high-end watches for lower-than-average prices. However, a few customers had trouble with their customer service, long waits for shipping, or out-of-stock items. Some customers called it a "gamble” whether or not you get a watch without a defect. However, for most customers (almost 70%), the experience was very good.

Good for luxury picks

If you're looking for luxury watches, this is a great place to find a deal. While we would love to see a more robust return policy without high return shipping costs, the general consensus is that WatchMaxx will help you find your dream watch. However, with some concerns about overall quality, this site doesn't rank quite as high as it could, but it's still worth a look.

What is the Best Watch Store?

Putting together an outfit that shines is more than just matching your shoes and belt or picking out the right fabric. To finish off your look, a statement piece is the best option. And what better way than to accessorize your suit and tie, workwear, or everyday brunch fit with a unique timepiece that is 100% you?

While watches might seem like something that's going out of style with the rise of smartphones to tell you the time, there's nothing quite as classy as a stylish watch on your wrist (whether you need it for timekeeping or not) to put a finishing touch on your next look. With so many watches to choose from, it's hard to know where to buy. But thankfully online shopping makes it easier than ever to get your next daily-wear or special-occasion timepiece to add to your collection.

Watch Store FAQ

Yes! Despite the fact that we all carry a clock in our pocket (i.e. on our mobile phones), watches remain a very popular accessory.
The most prevalent type of watch on people's wish lists is the smartwatch. People rush to buy the newest "wearable tech" when it hits the stores, and they're particularly sought after by fitness enthusiasts (e.g. Fitbit, Apple Watch). But traditional wristwatches - especially luxury brands - are still on trend for fashion and function.
Brick-and-mortar stores tend to carry just a few brands and styles at a time, and they pass the overhead costs of operating their business on to the customer. On the other hand, shopping online gives you literally the world's best selection at your fingertips, often at prices that easily rival or beat what you'd find at the jeweler.
As long as you purchase your watch from a reputable store, buying your watch online isn't risky at all. You can rest assured that you're getting what you're paying for, and you can always file a dispute with your credit card issuer if a problem arises that isn't being handled appropriately by the merchant.
Most online retailers of watches give you a 30-day return window. However, to be eligible for a refund, the watch usually has to be in unworn condition.
That depends on the store. Some offer free shipping on all orders, while others require a minimum spend (e.g. $50).
You can be sure that if you're buying a $20,000 watch, it's in the retailer's best interest to insure the delivery! You'll probably have to sign for the package as well, which minimizes the likelihood that your watch will be intercepted by "porch pirates" !
Definitely. Watches are still used to commemorate special occasions, like reaching a career milestone or an anniversary. And, with some watches, you can have the back engraved with a special message.

Continued from above...

Now, there are plenty of wristwatches for all shapes, sizes, and genders. From radio-controlled watches to traditional battery-powered, or atomic clocks to smartwatches, there is a timepiece out there for everyone. Whether you love something a little antique or you're looking for a Graff statement piece or a Hublot gift for a special someone, there are so many styles out there today that you can have your pick of prices, metals, and gemstones to adorn your wrist.

The history of watches and watchmaking is an interesting one. The first portable watches were developed in the 16th century in Nuremberg, Germany. Called "clock watches”, these were usually worn on clothing or on a chain around your neck. Considered a key part of one's outerwear, clock watches were usually heavily engraved and decorated. The pocket watch was the next iteration, developed in the 17th century. If you're thinking of the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, you've got the right idea. The wristwatch wasn't popularized until the early 1800s, and the designs were primarily designed for women until officers in the British Army began using them during military campaigns in the 1880s.

With a range of sites that offer specialized watches or one-stop shops that give you a glimpse at almost all the watches on the market, there are plenty of places to search for a casual watch or something that could be a fashion item and an investment. If it's time for you to get your next watch (pun intended), but you're not sure where to look, don't worry. We're here to help.

With so many sites and retailers out there, we've put together some factors to help you narrow down your favorites. Here's what you might want to look for:

  • Cost. A lot of retailers have similar watches for vastly different prices. Make sure you're comparing the watch you want at each retailer to get the best deal. Whether it's through free shipping offers or a seasonal sale, some sites are better than others at making the cost and value match up.
  • Inventory. If you're someone who likes to browse, make sure that the site you choose has an impressive inventory. You want lots of watches to consider, so that you have the best chance of finding the perfect one to fit your wrist (or pocket, if you're going old-school).
  • Refunds. Make sure that the site you choose has a decent return or refund policy. Since you're shopping at many of these retailers without seeing the watches in person, you'll want some leeway to try on your new find before you make a decision. Sites with forgiving return policies and full refund offers are the best bet.
  • Reputation. Finally, check out your chosen retailer's reviews and ratings. Other customers can guide you toward the best picks on trusted rating sites like Sitejabber, Trustpilot, or the Better Business Bureau. Their feedback on customer service, product quality, and other major factors can help you make a more informed decision.

To help you get your next accessory or timepiece, Top Consumer Reviews has reviewed and ranked the top retailers and watch stores out there today. Now, all you need to do is enjoy the browsing experience and decide whether you want a smartwatch, a traditional watch, or something in between. Happy shopping!
