Home Depot stands out as an exceptional destination when it comes to purchasing water filters, offering an incredibly hassle-free experience. Regardless of whether you're seeking a whole-house filtration system or a simple replacement for your refrigerator's water and ice dispenser, Home Depot promises that you'll find ample options without any trouble. Plus, with Home Depot being a local store for many customers, you can avoid any shipping costs, though most water filters can be delivered to your home for free.
Easy browsing and helpful site filters
Navigating the Home Depot website is a breeze, making the entire process remarkably straightforward. Once you find the main water filter page, you're presented with a clear choice. Want to start your shopping process with water testing? No problem. Whether you opt for a DIY kit or prefer a free in-home water test, Home Depot has you covered. Need to target a specific contaminant like iron or bacteria? You can swiftly navigate to the relevant products. Plus, if you have a preferred brand, it's readily available. Such user-friendly navigation sets Home Depot apart from other water filter retailers, making the selection process effortless.
Tons of filters to choose from
There are 1,443 different products related to water filters at Home Depot, offering one of the largest selections in our review. You can find products for whole house water filters, water softeners, reverse osmosis water filters, under sink water filters, countertop water filters, water dispensers, water filter pitchers, faucet water filters, showerhead filters, and refrigerator water filters.
Competitive pricing with discounts for subscriptions
In terms of pricing, Home Depot remains highly competitive. You're unlikely to overspend when purchasing water filters here, though you can shell out if you want the top-of-the-line filters. To compare prices with rival stores, we looked at the same types of filters at each retailer: whole-house filters, water pitcher filters, and showerhead filters. For whole-house filters, you can choose between 379 products at Home Depot. The prices range from $49.99 to $5,995. For water pitcher filters, the prices range from $20.84 for a Brita pitcher to $235 for a multipack of water filtering storage cans. Finally, the prices for shower filters range from $14.93 to $247.46. Subscribing to automatic delivery for replacement filters presents another opportunity to save. This convenient option, typically located beneath the delivery selections, offers a 5% discount on purchases, allowing you to customize the frequency of filter deliveries to your preference.
Free water testing
One standout feature of Home Depot is its Water Treatment Service, which includes free water testing. At your request, you can schedule an appointment with a local Home Depot partner to test your water quality. During the appointment, a specialist conducts the test and discusses the results, recommending the most suitable water treatment system if necessary. Home Depot also offers 24 months of financing for installed water treatment services priced over $600, alleviating the burden of finding a licensed installer independently.
90-day return policy
Concerning returns, Home Depot maintains a generous 90-day return policy for unused, unopened merchandise. Even if you realize your mistake after installation, Home Depot typically prioritizes customer satisfaction and will likely still allow for a return, making it a hassle-free process. Considering how expensive some of the systems are, this is an incredibly customer-focused policy.
Impressive reviews for most locations
There are tons of customer reviews for Home Depot that make it easy to decide if you want to shop for a particular product or at a specific location. This feedback provides invaluable insight into the performance of various products. Despite receiving the expected volume of complaints for a large company, Home Depot maintains an "A+" rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau, thanks in part to its positive customer feedback. There is also a range of competitive reviews for each individual location. For example, our local Home Depot was rated 4.7 stars out of 5 and is highly praised for its customer service and helpful staff.
Best one-stop shop for any filter
Home Depot earns the top spot among water filter retailers due to its extensive inventory, user-friendly website, and added value through complimentary in-home water testing and professional recommendations. With over 1,400 products to choose from, Home Depot emerges as the premier destination for all your water filter needs. For this reason, it earns the top spot and a 5-star rating in our review.
Lowe's started as a small hardware store in North Carolina and has since grown into one of the world's largest home improvement retailers, maintaining its dedication to assisting homeowners, renters, and pros with enhancing their living and working spaces. With around 300,000 associates across the United States and over 16 million customer transactions each week, Lowe's generated $86.4 billion in sales last year alone. In addition to its extensive inventory of home improvement products, Lowe's offers various water filters and softeners to promote clean and safe water for drinking and cooking. When you're looking to improve the taste or quality of your water, Lowe's provides filtration systems and softeners suitable for every household.
Impressive and specialized site filters
Browsing for water filters at Lowe's is a breeze. You can easily select the type of water filtration system that you want to start off with, or if you prefer a specific brand (or have a filter already that needs a replacement part), you can start your shopping journey by brand. You can also shop by systems or replacement filters/cartridges. Once you get to your selected page and start browsing, you can easily narrow down the products by price, brand, contaminants, filtration method, series name, finish, and more. Some of the site filters are specific to the type of filter you're looking at, which shows an attention to detail that is highly customer-focused to help you find the best product for your home.
200+ different home systems
There are tons of different filter replacements and filter systems offered by Lowe's. There are 206 products in the section for whole-house filters alone. Refrigerator filters have even more options, with 225 different products to choose from. The only section that we couldn't find any products for is shower filters, which was standard at many other retailers. However, in most other areas of water filters and filter replacements, you can easily find anything you need at Lowe's.
Prices from $7.08 per filter
At each retailer, we looked at the prices for the same three products. However, as Lowe's doesn't have shower filters, we changed that one item to fridge filters instead. So, we checked out prices for whole home filters, water pitcher filters, and fridge filters at Lowe's. Here's what we found:
Free water testing
Like a few other companies in our review, Lowe's offers free water testing for you to see if you need a full water filter system. The test will come with recommendations for what products might best suit your home's needs based on particular contaminants and what systems might target the issues you're having. You may just need a water softener or something small for your kitchen faucet, but Lowe's will help you figure it out at no upfront cost or requirements to buy a water filter afterward.
90-day returns for most items
Lowe's return policy promises that if you're not fully satisfied with your purchase, you can return the item to any Lowe's store in the US. Most new and unused items can be refunded or exchanged with a receipt within 90 days of the original purchase date unless specified in the Return Policy Exceptions.
Solid scores for local locations |
Lowe's has an impressive "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau to solidify Lowe's as a trusted retailer to get your water filters. While there are the expected number of complaints on third-party review sites for such a large retailer, reviews on specific locations for Lowe's are quite high. For example, our local Lowe's has an average rating of 4.4 stars out of 5. Another local location slightly further away has a 4.7-star average, showing that customers love shopping at Lowe's, and generally have a positive experience with their purchases.
Close second to our top pick
Lowe's is a top retailer for home improvement and water filters due to its impressive selection of products, a website that's easy to navigate, and extra benefits such as complimentary in-home water testing. As such, it earns a very high rating in our evaluation. Lowe's remains a top contender and a great choice to get your next water filter.
Discount Filters emerges as an excellent option for water filters, including OEM cartridges and USA-made aftermarket brands. Run by owners who understand the challenges of homeownership, Discount Filters empathizes with the task of purchasing replacement air, furnace, and water filters, especially for first-time buyers. With a commitment to customer satisfaction, Discount Filters offers an extensive inventory of products at competitive prices, coupled with fast shipping and free returns on all items. All products are proudly made in Indiana, USA.
Navigation is a breeze
Finding the right water filters is effortless with Discount Filters. The website offers intuitive navigation, allowing you to search by brand and by filter type, so you can either jump right to a specific item or browse the entire inventory of one particular brand. When you get to more specific items, you can select whether you want to shop for full systems or for cartridges and other parts. You can find a competitive range of water filters for refrigerators, showers, inline, household appliances, water pitchers, faucets, and reverse osmosis.
More limited stock but high-quality items
There are fewer options at Discount Filters than with other companies in our review; however, all of the parts and systems are high quality. In our three categories that we checked out for pricing, we found 11 products for inline filters, 9 products for water pitchers, and 4 products for shower filter systems. Notably, Discount Filters doesn't sell complete water pitchers, but instead only sells the parts and replacement filters, but you can easily match the filters to a pitcher you already have.
Competitive prices with multipack options
To give you a clear idea of pricing for water filters on Discount Filters, we looked at the same three product types at each company: inline filters, pitcher filters, and shower filters. For inline filters, the prices range from $11.98 to $47.53 per filter. For the pitcher filters, the costs range from $1.63 to $24.99 per filter depending on the size of your pitcher. Finally, the shower filters cost $32.48 to $59.67 for the full shower head and filter system. Discount Filters offers convenient bundled purchases, so many of the "per filter” prices may end up being higher as those items come in a bundled multi-pack.
100% satisfaction guarantee
The retailer's Purchase Guarantee Program offers extensive benefits, including a refund policy covering up to $1,000 in products, a one-year window for returns with covered return postage, and 90-day price protection so customers receive the lowest price. Even in the case of filter compatibility issues, Discount Filters stands by its 100% money-back guarantee and will allow you to make a return for a full refund.
Different viewpoints on the BBB and other sites
Shockingly, Discount Filters currently holds an "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but there isn't any evidence as to why. There have only been 2 complaints in the last three years and there's only 1 review on the BBB site. On other review sites, Discount Filters excels in its reputation. With a 4.5-star average on Trustpilot, Discount Filters has customers who praise the site for being user-friendly, are thrilled with the quick delivery, and have no issues with the installation of the water filters they bought. Shoppers also praise the impressive prices, saying they found amazing deals at Discount Filters. While this is a major departure from what we see with the BBB, there are well over 13,000 reviews to back up the 4.5-star rating.
Impressive focus on customer satisfaction
Discount Filters is a top contender for its customer-centric approach, user-friendly online platform, competitive satisfaction guarantee, and price-matching options. While we think the Trustpilot reviews are more indicative of Discount Filters' reputation than the "F” from the BBB, we're still taking that into account. Despite this small downgrade, this retailer remains a top choice for water filter purchases.
Since 2004, Filters Fast has become a leading online filtration provider in the United States and has continued to grow quickly. Though it now sells filters worldwide, Filters Fast remains a family-owned business in Charlotte, NC. Its mission is to offer customers the best filtration shopping experience with an easy-to-navigate catalog and the tools and education to make informed choices. It was created because its owner Ray Scardigno was frustrated with buying a refrigerator filter online and found only a few small sites selling filters and didn't want to pay the big box store markups. He aimed to change that with Filters Fast, which now provides a wide variety of air and water filter products.
Complex site but great search features
When you first land on the site, it comes across as pretty cluttered. The main feature is finding a filter for your refrigerator, though you can easily find the other types of water filters using the top navigation bar. You can also start shopping using the "Featured Categories” list at the bottom of the site, where popular items are listed for easy browsing. You can view all of the water filter products Filters Fast has in one scrolling window, but this isn't the most intuitive way to shop. There's no way to narrow the options. To have a better chance of finding what you need, you may want to search by the product type you want. You can use the search bar to enter the filter number or manufacturer to help you match replacement filters to your exact model.
Competitive range of filters
There are plenty of filters to choose from at Filters Fast. Using the top navigation bar, you can shop by type which includes:
While browsing some of the categories we found that Filters Fast has a competitive selection with 22 water pitcher filters for sale along with 45 products for showers. However, most of the products are filter replacements only, so if you're looking to install a new complete system, this isn't going to be the site for you. For example, Filters Fast doesn't sell any complete water pitchers, just the filters for them.
Prices are harder to find from general browsing
Filters Fast is hard to shop at because there's no way to narrow down the products by price. The expectation is that you have a product already and need to replace the filter, so you'll be shopping by product number or filter number (it is much easier this way). However, to show you a price comparison, we looked at the prices we could find for pitcher water filters, shower filters, and whole-house systems. For pitcher filters, the prices ranged from $9.95 for a two-pack to $718.20 for a 6-pack. For shower filters, the prices started at $12.94 and went up to $128.99. Finally, for the full home filters, we had to narrow down our search to see pricing, so these prices include only pleated filters sized 20 x 2.5. The prices ranged from $16.95 to $17.99.
Returns within 1 year
You can return eligible items within 365 days from the order date. To start a return, you'll need to log into your account with Filters Fast, find the relevant order, click the gray "Return" button, and follow the instructions. There are no details before making an account on whether Filters Fast covers shipping and other associated costs or not. Returns go back through USPS, however. On the bright side, Filter Fast offers free shipping on orders over $99.
A fan favorite for filters
Despite some navigational challenges, Filters Fast comes out as a favorite with customers. The company holds an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau and shows an average customer rating of 4.4 stars out of 5. Reviews praise the high quality of the items sold by Filters Fast and the impressive prices. Customers frequently talk about taking advantage of autoship features which deliver replacement filters to them every 6 months without fail. There are praises for shipping speed and customer service as well.
Top option for replacement filters
If you're looking to keep your water filter system in top working order, Filters Fast is the best place to go to get replacement filters. While it doesn't offer much in the way of new systems, keeping your water filter working with replacement filters is simple with Filters Fast. With high praise from customers and the BBB, Filters Fast earns a high rating in our review and the best place if you specifically need replacement filters.
Discount Filter Store prides itself on offering a wide selection of filters to meet various needs, emphasizing quality and value. Beyond water filters for refrigerators and reverse osmosis systems, they also offer products for HVAC systems and more. The company has an impressive customer base including end-users (standard customers), Fortune 500 companies, universities, government agencies, and other institutions worldwide.
Helpful filters but outdated site design
You can easily click on the button for water filters to start browsing Discount Filter Store's entire range of water filters. Using useful site categories like "contaminant issues” or "household size”, you can easily narrow down different kinds of filters depending on what you're looking for. You can also narrow the options by brand, by what contaminants you want to filter for, and by fitting type or size. While Discount Filter Store's site feels a bit cluttered, and some of the photos are blurry, the actual search functions work perfectly well.
330 different filter products
Across all water filter products at Discount Filter Store, you'll find 330 total options to choose from. In addition to appliance water filters, Discount Filter Store offers a large range of filtration products, including whole-house systems, pitchers, dispensers, shower fixtures, and under-sink filters. You can also find shower filters, filters for camping, inline filters, and reverse osmosis water filters with Discount Filter Store. However, many of the 330 products for sale are actually replacement parts or cartridges for filters. If you're looking for actual filter systems, the selections are much more limited. For example, the water pitcher filters only had 3 total products that were actual pitchers complete with filters rather than parts.
Prices from $33 for a water filter
The prices at Discount Filter Store are all over the place depending on what you buy, so we narrowed the options for you a little bit. To give you an idea of pricing across different retailers, we looked at three kinds of filters at each store: water pitcher filters, inline filters (for your entire house), and for a different angle, a shower filter. For pitchers, the prices range from $33.99 to $199. If you're looking for something that covers your whole house, the cost ranges from $50 to $113 for the system rather than just replacement cartridges, which is what most of the items in that section are. Finally, the prices for shower filters range from $42.99 to $94.99. Free shipping is available for orders exceeding $59.
60-day returns and a price match guarantee
Discount Filter Store provides a 60-day return policy, albeit with distinctions between OEM and Tier1 brand. OEM filters are subject to a refund only if unused and undamaged, whereas Tier1 items can be returned for any reason, aiming to instill confidence in trying aftermarket products. The store covers return postage for orders under $100, offering convenience to customers. Under their "No Worries Guarantee," Discount Filter Store also offers price matching, guaranteed phone support during business hours, and assured compatibility of filters identified through the Filter Finder or customer service.
Customers are impressed with quality
With an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, Discount Filter Store seems like a favorite among buyers. However, its reviews on third-party sites show mixed opinions. For example, at Trustpilot, Discount Filter Store has fewer reviews than competitors with a 3.7-star average overall. Some customers love the service, but others complain about the parts not being on "sale” or being more expensive than other companies. But with only three total reviews to go off of, this isn't a great way to tell what's really going on at Discount Filter Store.
Great for low prices and replacement parts
Discount Filter Store stands as a dependable destination for purchasing a variety of water filters. With options for OEM parts for replacement or Tier1 if you want to save some money, there are plenty of products for all budgets. You may do best here if you're looking for cartridges or replacement parts rather than a brand-new system, but the prices for full systems are competitive. However, with some questions arising from having very few reviews and mixed feedback, Discount Filter Store slides down the rankings a bit. It earns a solid rating in our review.
Filter Water has a mission to offer clean water across the globe. It currently has 20,000 systems serving clients in more than 60 countries. Its clientele includes various government agencies, energy and security contractors, healthcare professionals, and major corporations such as US government agencies, US Army, military bases, universities, breweries, Air France, Starbucks, Nike, Mercedes Benz, and the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation. Their standard and customized water purification systems are used in numerous businesses and homes across the USA and worldwide, offering pure drinking water.
Tons of helpful research, but slow navigation
For those unsure about their water filtration needs, Filter Water offers valuable resources accessible via a link beneath the Residential button labeled "First time? Begin here." This helps you with details about water impurities, installation inquiries, overall costs, and more. You can also wander through the site's top links to easily explore residential systems, commercial systems, testing, or replacement parts. While navigating Filter Water's online store for residential water filtration products, though, there are some navigational challenges. Unlike some competitors, there is no option to view all residential products at once, which can make the browsing process much longer if you're looking at multiple types of filters during your visit.
Lots of options for full house systems
Filter Water has a remarkable variety of water filters, surpassing many rival retailers. The inventory includes over two dozen whole-house systems for both smaller and larger homes, as well as faucet and under sink filters for clean drinking water. You can also find shower filters to eliminate chlorine and other impurities from bathing water, along with pitchers for readily-available cold, filtered water. For gardening enthusiasts, Filter Water even offers garden filters. While it's hard to see how many of each item there are due to the separated categories on the site, you can easily find full systems for each category as well as replacement parts and cartridges.
Prices starting at $41 for a filter system
The pricing at Filter Water is much higher than other companies we looked at, and that's mostly because their products are customizable, especially the full-home-size filters. So, to compare prices with other companies in our review, we'll look at three types of filters: water pitcher filters, full home filters, and shower filters. For the water pitcher filters, there is exactly 1 water pitcher for sale at $44. For full-house filters, the budget systems start at $935 and go up as high as $4,110. Finally, for shower filters, you'll find prices from $41 to $89.99.
Limited 60-day returns
One area of concern is Filter Water's somewhat ambiguous return policy. Currently, Filter Water offers a "conditional 60-day money-back guarantee" applicable to select items. Your return may also be potentially subject to a restocking fee of up to 30%. While this policy might be acceptable for well-established retailers, it could pose a deterrent for consumers considering high-value purchases, especially given how expensive some of the full-home systems are.
Limited feedback from customers
Filter Water's standing with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a perfect "A+" rating and no complaints filed in the last three years. However, there is a scarcity of recent customer reviews available for consideration. On Sitejabber, which shows only a 3-star average rating for Filter Water, there are only 7 total user reviews. These are all almost 2 years old, too, making it hard to gauge how customers currently feel about Filter Water as a whole.
A mid-tier option due to minimal reviews
Filter Water offers a wide array of water filters, especially in the full-home category; however, it does have some limitations for smaller or less expensive systems. The company's improved BBB rating reflects its commitment to customer satisfaction, but with very few reviews, we feel like something is missing, and it's unclear how well Filter Water systems work for everyday consumers rather than major companies. The lack of recent customer reviews and the ambiguous return policy prevents Filter Water from achieving a higher rating.
Isopure Corporation designs water treatment systems based on three decades of experience, integrating modern technology into every piece of equipment. It received its first FDA 510(k) clearance in 1986 for an innovative primary water purification device still in production today. The patented on-board cleaning technology introduced the same year uses a three-step chemical process to clean and disinfect any compatible primary purification system. Building on these achievements, Isopure received multiple 510(k) clearances, initially focusing on medical water treatment. Over the past twenty years, the company has also developed an industrial water treatment segment using similar technology.
Cluttered site but easy navigation
Getting started on Isopure Water's website is easy, but the site is definitely cluttered. Perhaps operating off an older user interface, the links are primarily black text hyperlinks interspersed with large photos and banners that separate the different "featured items” sections on the main page. While you can easily select water filtration systems or just filters from the top navigation bar, it would feel a little more professional with a site update.
Lots of replacement filters
There are 5 different systems to choose from at Isopure Water, including reverse osmosis, spin-down sediment filters, under-sink and countertop, UV purification, and full home systems. For the replacement filters, there are a lot more options here than at some competitors with 500+ replacement filters to choose from. You can only filter the products by brand though, which is a drawback that could seriously complicate your search for a particular replacement filter.
Price per filter starts at $2.14
To compare prices at Isopure Water to other companies in our review, we tried to look at the same three filter types at each retailer. However, there weren't any water pitcher filters available at Isopure Water, nor were there any dedicated shower filters. Instead, we looked at pricing for whole house filter systems, countertop filter systems, and the entire range of filters offered for replacements. For whole house systems, the prices range from $89.99 to $1,015.58. For countertop filter systems, the prices start from $111.19 to $688.49. Finally, for general filters, the price per filter starts at $2.14 to $640.70.
30-day returns but you pay for shipping
Isopure Corporation accepts returns of defective products due to manufacturing or workmanship issues within 30 days of purchase. The company also offers refunds if you're not satisfied with your order. However, if your order is over $500 you will only have 15 days to return your items. Shipping costs are non-refundable unless the wrong item is shipped or it arrives damaged.
Almost no one is talking about Isopure Water
Finding feedback for Isopure Water is extremely difficult. We found only 4 total reviews on third-party sites like Sitejabber. While these few reviews show a 4.5-star average, we're not sure how much we trust such a small sample of feedback. Customers said they got decent prices from Isopure Water. However, one customer complained about difficulties making payments with debit cards. From other sources like the Better Business Bureau, Isopure Water has a perfect "A+” rating, but there are no reviews on the BBB either. Given the lack of available information, we're hesitant to totally trust the high rating and suggest further research before you settle on Isopure Water over other retailers.
Mid-tier service overall
While the ratings that are out there are solid, there are some red flags at Isopure Water, like the return policy applying primarily to items with issues and no reimbursement for shipping. Further, the prices start much higher than other companies, so if you're looking for the best deal, it won't be at Isopure Water. With all things considered, Isopure Water earns a mid-tier rating, with a slight bump due to the positive feedback for the company (despite how minimal it is).
US Water Systems places a strong emphasis on offering water filters and products manufactured in the USA, with approximately 95% of its inventory meeting this criterion. Their sales and tech support teams have a wealth of expertise, with a collective experience of over 300 years, including Certified and Master Water Specialists as well as former installers. However, the majority of US Water Systems' online inventory is replacement filters rather than full filtration systems, so if you're looking to install a full system, you may be disappointed with this company.
Not the most intuitive site
Getting started on the US Water Systems website is a little clunky. You can't browse all options, but instead have to immediately narrow down what you want to buy. You can shop by replacement filters, by contaminant, by what kind of parts you need, or more standard filters like price or brand. However, it's hard to find full filtration packages of any kind unless you're planning to install a whole home system. Despite its name, US Water Systems primarily sells parts and replacement cartridges.
183 replacement filters for sale
The array of replacement filters available at US Water Systems is impressive, such as reverse osmosis, carbon block, whole-house systems, and cartridge filters, with 183 filters on offer. US Water Systems also provides a range of unique water filtration systems, including whole-house setups for city or well water.
Higher prices and missing items
The prices at US Water Systems were harder to compare to other companies due to the limited supply of filter types and systems. For example, we normally review the cost of water pitcher filters and shower filters, but there weren't any offered under those categories. Instead, we checked the pricing on whole-house systems and countertop filters to give filters of similar use cases to the home appliance options. For the whole-home systems, prices range from $2,390 to $2,490. For the countertop filters, you can only get replacement filters and no systems. The prices range from $19.95 to $162.95.
60-day returns minus shipping
US Water Systems offers a 60-day window for returns on replacement water filters, provided they are in their original packaging. However, you will be responsible for return shipping costs, with the original delivery fee deducted from the refund. Considering that the starting cost of US Water Systems replacement filters is higher than average, this policy doesn't seem particularly customer-friendly.
Reviews show a recent decline in customer service
US Water Systems holds an impressive "A+” rating with the Better Business Bureau. However, this is matched against mid-tier feedback from customers on third-party review sites. On Trustpilot, US Water Systems only holds an average rating of 3.7 stars. Recent reviews as of the time of this evaluation were all 1-star, showing a recent decline from the 5-star ratings that we saw in past years. Recent complaints note that US Water Systems' customer service wasn't up to par and interactions with the company left customers feeling frustrated.
Mid-tier offerings and service
Given their somewhat limited products and falling levels of customer satisfaction, US Water Systems earns an average rating in our review. Even if you find the filters you need in their inventory, you may not be able to trust their customer service team to help you. Taking these concerns into account, along with the unimpressive return policy, US Water Systems earns just an average rating in our review.
Water Filters emphasizes a 360-degree service approach. Operating with minimal overhead and maximum efficiency, the company prides itself on offering competitive prices and superior service. With an inventory promising hundreds of thousands of water filtration products available for swift shipping worldwide, Water Filters continues to expand its product line to meet evolving needs. Water Filters serves a wide customer base, including end users (like you!), Fortune 500 companies, universities, government agencies, and other institutions.
Cluttered, but not a bad UI
The first impression of Water Filters is cluttered. With lots of photos, colors, and different fonts, it's hard to know what to look at first. However, if you keep to the top navigation bar, it's pretty easy to find what you need. You can find home systems, drinking water systems, parts and accessories, and replacement filters right there at the top of the website. Once you choose a starting point, you can browse with helpful site filters like price, brand, filter media, reduction class, contaminants, and more.
Some limitations in products
While the "About Us” page for Water Filters promises hundreds of thousands of products on the site, this isn't the case in the whole home filter systems section. First, you have to narrow down your shopping by a specific kind of home system like "iron and manganese systems” or "carbon systems”. While there are 7 different systems to choose from, there are fewer than half a dozen items in most of the categories. Some of the systems only have one option to choose from, which feels much more limited than other top contenders in our review. Now, when it comes to replacement filters, there are over 200 products in each category, which definitely lives up better to Water Filters' promise. However, there are some filters notably absent like pitcher filters and shower filters, so you may be missing out if you're looking for something other than a whole house filter or a refrigerator filter.
Prices for full systems start at $170.99
The pricing was hard to compare to other companies, as Water Filters was missing many of the products that we used for comparisons at other retailers. For our purposes, we just looked at the pricing of two different full-home systems to compare against home systems at other retailers. For Water Filters, we looked at carbon filters and lead reduction filters. For carbon filters, there were only 7 options to choose from and the prices ranged from $185.99 to $729. For the lead reduction filters, there were only three products and the prices ranged from $170.99 to $240.99.

No buzz anywhere
Reviews are particularly scarce for Water Filters. At Trustpilot, we found exactly 1 total review from customers and that review had just 1 star. The reviewer was complaining about spam emails from the company despite never actually having purchased a water filter from Water Filters. From the Better Business Bureau, Water Filters.net has an "A+” rating, but there's no way to confirm what it did to deserve this rating as there are no reviews on the BBB site either. Basically, there isn't any buzz for Water Filters, which raises a red flag for us.
Company lacks a solid reputation
While the company seems to have a good handle on water filtration systems, we're a little concerned about the lack of reviews. For this reason, along with the fact that Water Filters lacks some major filter items seen at other retailers, it earns a lower rating in our review. We hope that we'll see improvement for Water Filters in the future, but for now, its reputation is too uncertain to stand behind.
Founded in 2014, Ice Pure aims to transform residential plumbing systems and make high-quality filtered water accessible in homes across America. Using advanced reverse osmosis technology and contaminant-removing filters, Ice Pure's water purification solutions claim to be 100 times more effective than simple pitchers or faucet attachments. Site is simple and easy to use.
The design of Ice Pure's site is simple and easy to navigate. You can see categories for types of water filters across the top of the site and the entire inventory of water filters is available to browse right away. You can use various filters on the site to narrow your options including price, number of items per package, and whether or not an item is currently in stock. Under the top bar, you can find information on their full systems, like the custom reverse osmosis system meant to help purify water throughout your entire house. You can also shop for appliance-specific filters using the top navigation bar as well as filters for specific brands.
Mix of unique options
In the general water filters section of the Ice Pure site, you'll find 162 different products to choose from. This includes full systems, water dispensers, and just replacement filters. There are three options for the reverse osmosis full systems and 22 products for whole house filters. However, some notable filters are missing, including shower filters. There are some unique filters though, like spa filters or pet fountain filters to choose from. In general, the selection at Ice Pure is much smaller than at other competitors.
Prices from $16.79 for whole house filters
Usually, we review whole house filters, water pitcher filters, and shower filters to show you a comparison of prices with the same products. However, at Ice Pure, two of these three products are not included in their lineup. So, we'll show you the price range for whole house filters only and the pet fountain filters just to see something a little different. The prices for whole house filters range from $16.79 to $339.99, which includes just replacement filters and full systems. For the pet filters, the prices range from $10.99 to $38.99, which also includes replacement filters and full pet fountains.
30- to 90-day limited return policy
Ice Pure offers a 30-day return window on all orders and a 90-day limited manufacturer warranty on included items. There is a 15% restocking fee for brand-new unopened returns, but Ice Pure provides a prepaid shipping label if the return is due to an error on the company's part. For other returns, customers cover the return shipping costs and handling fees. To receive a full refund, merchandise must be returned in brand-new, unopened, unused, and undamaged condition unless defective. Refunds for mistaken purchases are granted only if items are in new and unused condition with all parts and components intact.
Concerning reviews about quality
While Ice Pure has a full "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, there are mixed reviews from customers on third-party sites like Trustpilot. On average, customers rated Ice Pure just 3.7 stars out of 5. Concerningly, there were only 9 reviews for Ice Pure at the time of our review, which raises questions about how often customers really shop here. The feedback shows a few happy reviews, but the majority of feedback says that after installing Ice Pure filters, the water taste was worse than before. Other customers complained about receiving defective items and having difficulty working with Ice Pure's customer service to get issues resolved.
Use caution before going with Ice Pure
Given that high-quality water is the point of a new filter or filter system, the fact that Ice Pure's reviews show dissatisfaction from customers regarding the water's taste and overall product quality, we're a little worried about this site compared to its more established competition. For this reason, along with its lackluster return policy and more limited inventory, Ice Pure earns a low rating in our review. If it's making the water worse, you definitely want to do some extra research before purchasing filters here.
One of the most significant benefits of using a water filter is the improvement in the taste and odor of your drinking water. Tap water can sometimes have a chlorine-like taste or unpleasant odor due to the presence of chemicals and contaminants used to initially clean the water. By helping remove these impurities, water filters can enhance the taste and smell of your water, making it more enjoyable to drink and encouraging you to stay hydrated throughout the day. Whether you prefer to drink water straight from the tap or use it for cooking and brewing beverages, a water filter can elevate the quality of your drinking experience.
Water filters come in various types. One common type is the pitcher filter, which is a simple and affordable option for filtering tap water. These filters typically use activated carbon to remove impurities and improve taste. Faucet-mounted filters attach directly to the faucet and provide filtered water on demand. Other filters are directly fitted to your appliances. These are convenient and easy to install, making them suitable for small households.
Under-sink filters are installed beneath the sink and provide a continuous supply of filtered water for drinking and cooking. They are effective at removing a wide range of contaminants and are ideal for homes with limited counter space. Whole-house filtration systems are installed at the main water line and filter water for the entire household. These systems remove contaminants from all water sources for clean water for drinking, bathing, and cooking. Finally, reverse osmosis systems use a semipermeable membrane to remove contaminants, minerals, and impurities from water, producing high-quality drinking water. Each type of water filter offers unique benefits and features, allowing you to choose the most suitable system for your home.
In addition to improving the taste and smell of your water, water filters can protect your health by removing potentially harmful contaminants. Tap water can contain a variety of pollutants, including bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, prescription medications, and industrial chemicals, which can pose serious health risks if ingested in large quantities. By using a water filter, you can reduce your exposure to these contaminants and safeguard your health and well-being. With clean, filtered water readily available, you can hydrate confidently and enjoy better overall health.
