Factory Direct Filters has an excellent selection of water filters, from water pitchers to whole-house models. Their largest brand in-stock is Pentek, with 220 different filters, but you can also find more well-known manufacturers such as GE, Brita, Samsung, and more, for a total of over 30 different brands. In addition, they carry filters for heating and cooling, both for commercial and residential equipment.
Pricing is competitive with other retailers, and at the time of our review, there was a pop-up offer of 5% off all orders.
Using the site is straightforward: narrow down your options by water filter type or by brand, and then you can further sort the results by popularity, price, or even technical specs like MERV and efficiency. Each filter has a product description with features and contaminants reduced by the particular model, and tabs for further information, customer reviews, and customer questions.
Factory Direct's return policy was not as generous as other retailers in our review. All returns must be scheduled over the phone with their customer service department, and even though returns must be new and in resaleable condition, Factory Direct still charges a 15% restocking fee.
On the other hand, FedEx Ground shipping is free on all orders within the lower 48 United States, which is the most generous of all of the water filter retailers we surveyed.
We're impressed by Factory Direct's reputation with its customers: out of more than 1,500 customer reviews, the business maintains a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. The only recurring complaint was that orders may take a long time to ship, and in the off chance that you receive the wrong item, you could be waiting weeks to get the replacement delivered.
