On the Minted website

As soon as we started browsing the choices we had for wedding invitations at Minted, we could hardly contain our excitement. It was hard to select our favorite designs since there are thousands of beautiful, one-of-a-kind styles here. Minted is a platform where artists can submit their work, get voted on by customers, and earn a place on Minted's website and receive commissions. There are over 1,400 wedding invitations here and you can request free samples to see some in-person before ordering. There are designs to fit everyone's styles, and customizations are simple enough that they shouldn't take much time. The Better Business Bureau gives Minted an "A+" rating and customers have extremely positive things to say about buying products here, so Minted has earned one of our highest ratings too.

On the Paper Culture website

Paper Culture is committed to being environmentally friendly by creating their cards out of 100% post-consumer recycled paper and planting new trees with every order they receive. They have 238 eco-friendly wedding invitations you can choose from, but the only thing you can personalize about the template is the text. Their pricing is competitive with other wedding invitation companies, and the more you order, the cheaper each item gets. Paper Culture has a customer satisfaction guarantee that promises they'll deliver exactly what you order or you'll get your money back. Customers are positive about their experiences with Paper Culture and they have an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, so Paper Culture earns a high rating from us.

On the Shutterfly website

Shutterfly is a well-known custom design company that got its start in 1999. They have a selection of over 350 wedding invitation designs, all of which can be customized with your information to a limited extent. The more invitations you buy here, the cheaper each one becomes. When you spend over $79, you'll qualify for free shipping as well. There are quite a few shipping options from Shutterfly, so this is a place that will allow you to get your wedding invitations quickly if you're in a pinch. Unfortunately, Shutterfly has had really poor customer reviews as of late, due to some quality and customer service issues. Because of this, they've earned an average rating from us and we recommend going with a higher-rated provider of wedding invitations - just to be safe.

On the The Knot website

The Knot is one of many companies that specializes in helping people make arrangements for the stationery, invitations, products, and people that it takes to throw a special celebration. They have over 870 customizable wedding invitations you can choose from and we are impressed with how much you can make changes to their templates here. You'll get bulk pricing on invitations, although you might still spend a bit more here than you might at one of our highest-rated sites. In the end, however, we are put off by the "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau and poor customer reviews that The Knot receives. That combines to earn The Knot a "just average" rating from us.

On the Hanson Ellis website

Hanson Ellis is a unique retailer because they offer party favors as well as announcements and invitations. However, in the wedding category, we found their selection to be really unusual and not what most couples would be looking for to fit their wedding theme. They have items like scrolls that slide into genie lamps or messages in bottles for you to send to your wedding guests. This is a lot more expensive, so you may end up spending far more on invitations here than you would elsewhere. Hanson Ellis just doesn't cater their inventory to formal, traditional weddings, so they aren't a great option for most wedding invitations (and have earned a rating that reflects that).

On the Fine Stationery website

Fine Stationery began when the internet was taking off and people were excited about convenient options for things like greeting cards and invitations that they typically had to look in-store for. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Fine Stationery has evolved enough over time to offer very many styles or designs for wedding invitations. Their inventory is small and customization is really limited. On top of this, pricing is higher than we found other places and they make you pay more for shipping when you order more. They don't have a rating from the Better Business Bureau and the few reviews we found about them were negative. Fine Stationery has earned one of our lowest ratings since they just don't hold a candle to their competitors.

On the PsPrint website

PsPrint is a Deluxe company that hosts a big selection of items that can be customized. We quickly found that their wedding invitation selection was pretty pathetic, with just 16 templates. None of them were really unique, timeless, or beautiful. But, if you want to customize one of them, you can edit the text, add photos and clipart, and drag text boxes around. You have to customize your invitation to see pricing and shipping options, which is frustrating. Besides an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, nothing about PsPrint makes us inclined to shop here, so they've earned the last-place spot on our list.

Where is the Best Place to Order Wedding Invitations?

It's an exciting time of life if you're on the search for wedding invitation companies. It's the purchase that kicks off the rest of the important events you're about to experience. Wedding invitations can reach your loved ones all around the globe to invite them to celebrate your special occasion.

The design of an invitation says a lot about the personalities of the happy couple and portrays the vibe of the wedding - low-key and casual or fancy and formal? The invitation says it all. You can have any wedding invitation you dream up with how easy it is to customize them these days.

Many companies allow you to upload your own photos, choose your favorite fonts, select colors and clipart, and adjust the placement of your text to create exactly the look you're going for. You can put your creative skills to work or choose from one of the hundreds of thousands of pre-existing wedding invitation templates where you could easily add your information and have them ready for printing within minutes.

Your wedding invitation will likely include the names of you and your significant other, the date, time, and venue location for the ceremony, how you want people to dress (if applicable) and information on where you're registered (so you can get showered with money and gifts, of course!). It's important to find a company that will quickly print out your invitations so that your guests have plenty of time to get details about your wedding and give you a solid RSVP.

Aside from the wedding invitation alone, some people choose to slip in extra cards to invite certain guests to a luncheon or dinner, reception, or even a bachelor/bachelorette party beforehand. You can choose the envelope design you want to go along with your invitation and if you want the company to print addresses on them for you. You might add a fancy gold stamp to seal the invitations or have them embossed with your names. The sky's the limit when it comes to designing something beautiful that you'll be excited to send to all your friends and family.

We've done a lot of the important research regarding some of the best online companies that do custom wedding invitations. There are a few key details we recommend that you keep in mind when you are shopping around:

The experts at Top Consumer Reviews have researched the most important things you'd want to consider when choosing a company to create and buy your wedding invitations from. We hope this information helps you have an enjoyable time designing wedding invitations that reflect your style and that you'll cherish forever!

Wedding Invitation Site FAQ

How long do invitations take to make?
You can get online and create all your wedding invitations in an hour or less. Wedding invitation sites have easy-to-use templates that allow you to drag and drop photos, graphics, and text to make a beautiful design in a short amount of time. You'll be able to select the font, color, and size of your invitations as well. As soon as your design is complete, you can submit your order and receive your invitations within a matter of days.
How much do wedding invitations cost?
The total cost of wedding invitations is dependent on a few factors like the type of paper, quantity, and size. They are usually priced individually, but prices tend to drop the more you buy. On average, you can expect to pay between $400 and $650. That number can be a lot higher if you have a long guest list, want addresses printed on all your envelopes or other fanciful options.
Should I send out paper invitations or do evites for my wedding?
The classiest and timeless way to do wedding invitations is on paper in the mail. That way people get a beautiful picture of the engaged couple, all the details for the wedding day, and can save the invitation and look at it so they don't forget. It is a much more formal option than evites. Evites are more acceptable for events like birthday parties or baby showers.
Are envelopes included with my wedding invitation purchase?
Yes! Some companies charge extra for envelopes, while others have them priced in with the invitation itself. You might choose to change the color of the envelope or have addresses printed for you, which could alter your overall cost. However, envelopes are a necessary part of the deal when you're purchasing wedding invitations online.
Am I able to see a sample before I place a big order of wedding invitations?
Oftentimes companies will mail you your invitation before you place your full order so you know what they look like. This way you get to feel the paper, see the quality of the printing, and make sure everything is formatted the way you want. Another option is just viewing an online preview of your invitation before submitting your full order, which also gives you an adequate idea of how they will turn out.
What is the best way to collect addresses for wedding invitations?
You could collect wedding invitations the old fashioned way and make a list of all your guests, then text or call to request their address. Another option is to make an account through a website that emails or texts your guest list and asks them to respond with their address. There are quite a few free options for doing this. Also, some people simply put it out there on social media that they're getting married and would like a direct message with people's addresses if they are interested in receiving an announcement.
What size should a wedding invitation be?
The most traditional size for a wedding invitation is a 4.5 inch by 6.25 inch rectangular card. Most of the time wedding invitations aren't much bigger than a 5 inch by 7 inch design. If it's too big it will look silly, but if it's too small it might be hard to read. Nowadays there are lots of creative designs for wedding invitations like circular scalloped, oval, or other unique shapes that all come in reasonable sizes and add flair to your wedding invitation.
What information should I include on my wedding invitations?
Some key pieces of information you'll want to include on your wedding invitation include the names of the bride and groom (sometimes the parents of the happy couple are listed too), wedding date, location, and time, and other special ceremonies the guest is invited to. You might include whether or not you'll be serving food, where the couple is registered for gifts, RSVP information, and a note about attire.
