Whiskey is back! And in a big way. Over the last decade sales numbers and whiskey options have soared. Whether increased sales have led to more distillers, or the craft distilling craze has led to increased overall sales, is a question best left for the experts.
The effect on the consumer is this: if you're into blended or single malt, large well-known distilleries or up-and-coming craft distillers, Irish Whiskey (spelled with the 'e') or American Bourbon or Scotch Whisky (spelled without the 'e'), the options are seemingly endless. Whether you're a connoisseur of fine whiskey or a recent convert, it's a really good time to be into whiskey. And a great time to join a Whiskey Club!

Pour More knows that you, as a discerning whiskey drinker, enjoy tasting different whiskeys. They also know you want options when selecting a whiskey club. Pour More delivers those options in the form of multiple whiskey clubs.
You select this right whiskey club for you with just a few easy steps. First, choose your style: whiskey, bourbon, or scotch. Second, choose the tier that best suits you: Explorer, Enthusiast, or Connoisseur. Third, choose the number of months you want the packages to keep arriving: monthly, 3, 6, or 12 months. Done! The only thing left to do is drink your new whiskey each and every month. Yes, it's actually that easy to taste a wide range of world class whiskeys.
Membership Overview:
For those new to the world of whiskey the Explorer Package might be perfect for you. Or maybe you're already a lover of the good stuff. If that's the case, the Enthusiast Package will fit your tastes. And for the most refined whiskey drinkers, the Connoisseur Package is the one you want. Pour More offers each of these packages within each of their clubs: whiskey, bourbon, and scotch. And within each style you're able to choose a month to month commitment as well as 3, 6, or 12 month packages. The longer your membership, the more value you receive in the form of a lower per month cost (with prepayment). You could save over $20.00 a bottle!
The Connoisseur Packages are much more expensive than the other options - but so are the whiskeys you'll receive. Your local liquor store might carry one or two bottles for over $200.00. If you are into high-end whiskey what do you do after you've tried those two? The beauty of Pour More is you get a new bottle month after month, without searching. Your local liquor store probably can't come close to that level of convenience.
The Whiskey and Bourbon Club costs are as follows:
The Scotch Club costs are:
Along with your monthly bottle, Pour More also sends literature explaining the specific details of each whiskey, its heritage, and production technique.
Pour More lets you choose your package - whether you're looking for Whiskey, Bourbon, or Scotch - from the value buy all the way up to the high-end meant-to-impress selection. No other club we reviewed has a range of clubs that can compete with Pour More. For all these reasons Pour More earns top honors and is our pick as the Best Whiskey Club.
Taster's Club provides a curated selection of whiskeys sourced from around the world. And with multiple subscription options you will enjoy every bottle because you're able to choose the right club for you.
Membership Overview:
Choose from three basic memberships, each delivering one perfectly selected bottle per month:
For many fans, Scotch whisky is the king of whiskeys. Taster's Club understands this and offers, alongside their whiskey, bourbon, and scotch subscriptions, a Scotch Pro option.
Unlike many other clubs there is no long-term commitment required with Taster's Club. You can cancel any membership at anytime so you aren't locked in for months. Another nice feature some clubs do not offer is the monthly subscription. And every shipment from Taster's Club is a regular sized 750mL bottle, not a sample-sized bottle. Along with each bottle Taster's Club sends expert-level tasting notes, historic information, and distillery notes. They also offer gift memberships of 3, 6, or 12 months.
With multiple whiskey club options and the high end Scotch Pro subscription, along with monthly delivery of 750mL bottles of whiskey, Taster's Club scores highly in our review. As their website states, Taster's Club is a "curated subscription experience for spirit fans". If you stock your bar with Taster's Club, we think you'll be satisfied.
For Whisky Lovers delivers your choice whisky - bourbon or scotch. You can join the American Whiskey Club or the World Malts Club. Both clubs also offer your choice of delivery frequency - monthly or quarterly.
Membership Overview:
The final club option available from For Whisky Lovers is The Whiskey Explorers club - their tasting club. It is for members who want to taste the widest variety of whiskeys from around the world while broadening their whiskey knowledge base at the same time. The Whiskey Explorers club is available in multiple forms and each comes with a complimentary engraved Glencairn nosing and tasting glass, free shipping, and instructions on how to use a tasting game to uncover each whiskey's identity.
Here are the different options:
Along with their American Whiskey Club and World Malts Club, For Whisky Lovers offers a tasting club and free shipping for all clubs (two nice features most other clubs do not have). For that reason they rate highly in our review. The only thing we wish they included was a high-end tier to their whisky clubs.
With whiskey, bourbon, and scotch clubs Mash & Grape have enough options to suit all but the most discerning whiskey fans. Choose your favorite style and you're on the way to enjoying a new bottle each month for the length of your subscription.
Mash & Grape's three unique club memberships are all available in 3 month, 6 month, or 12 month durations as well as an ongoing option where you will receive your monthly delivery until cancellation, which can be done at any time.
Whiskey, bourbon, and scotch club memberships of 3, 6, or 12 months are also available as gifts and require prepayment in full.
Membership Overview:
With the exclusion of a high-end option to satisfy some whiskey lovers, Mash & Grape's club selection is comparable to some higher rated clubs in our review. That omission along with the lack of a discount for long-term membership, even when prepaying, led to their lower rating in our review.
Caskers offers two whiskey club options - 2 bottles, every three months. With only two clubs, it's an easy selection process for whiskey club shoppers. Their auto-renewing membership provides a quarterly delivery of 2 full size bottles of whiskey. Custom tasting cards and notes are included in each shipment.
With a quarterly cost of $146.99 or $166.99 based on club selection, they are the least expensive club we reviewed. The savings from Caskers continues with a feature few clubs have, free shipping. You'll be hard pressed to find another club to restock your bar with good whiskey at a cheaper price.
We were unable to find any information on Casker's site stating what kind of distillers they source from, but one picture on the site showed a possible shipment of three whiskeys from smaller, craft-style distillers which is comparable to other clubs we've reviewed. With only two club options, and the lowest price around, it's difficult to imagine Caskers offering any high-end bottles, at least not regularly. That said, Casker's states that the quarterly shipment includes quality whiskeys form artisanal craft distillers.
Membership Overview:
We feel Caskers is a good club for the new-to-whiskey club seeker or whiskey lover on a budget. Aside from the lowest price in our review, Caskers Whiskey Club doesn't quite compete with the higher rated clubs.
While many of these whiskey clubs focus on local or craft distillers that may not have wide name recognition outside their region, some have higher end options with brands all whiskey lovers will know. We think a whiskey club subscription is the best and most cost effective way to indulge your taste buds with new bottles and brands of whiskey. And the best clubs give you the ability to adjust your subscription to meet your specific tastes and needs.
There are many whiskey clubs to choose from and they vary almost as much as whiskey itself. With so many club options you should consider the features and benefits when deciding which club is the best fit for you. Here are a few important features of whiskey club subscriptions that you should consider:
