The Best Whiskey Clubs

Where's the Best Place to Join a Whiskey Club?

Many of us love a little nightcap or something tasty to bring out our inner bartender. As one of the most classic drinks out there, whiskey is usually top of the list. A versatile drink with a variety of flavors, or "notes” if you're a connoisseur, whiskey can stand out in your home collection as a sophisticated liquor for special nights.

But what if you don't know what to get? Or where to get it? That's where whiskey clubs come in. It doesn't matter if you're a whiskey superfan and you want to make sure you stay stocked up, or if you're looking to try new flavors once in a while, a Whiskey Club can make the process of buying your favorite drinks that much easier.

Top Consumer Reviews Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award

Flaviar is an exciting new alcohol subscription club that has become increasingly popular. They ship a range of spirits including whiskey, gin, and tequila straight to your door. They also offer a range of exciting membership benefits, including access to exclusive drinks and private events.

Range of subscriptions

Flaviar offers a range of subscriptions - you can sign up for monthly, one quarter at a time, or a whole year, and the prices change accordingly. For a month-to-month membership, you pay $60 per month. For a quarterly membership, you pay $110 each quarter, which makes it only $36.60 per month. For a 1-year membership, you pay $350 annually, which means it costs only $20.17 per month. So, getting a 1-year subscription ends up being much less expensive in the long run.

Samples sent whenever you want them

However, this subscription box works a little differently than some others in our review. Instead of getting a full bottle of whiskey each month, you can get three 1.5-ounce vials of samples, but the catch is you're not limited to one box per month. Depending on the timeline you select (monthly, every 3 months, or every year), you get a bunch of options for how the shipments are dispersed.

You're in charge

If you choose the Monthly Membership, you select one Tasting Box to be delivered every month and will be charged on a monthly basis. Alternatively, the 3-Month Membership allows you to choose two Tasting Boxes to be delivered on your schedule (any time within that three-month period) and you're charged every three months. With the 12-Month Membership, you have 8 different boxes allotted to your account, and you have the freedom to choose any number or combination of deliveries throughout the year, whether it's a Tasting Box now, two Tasting Boxes in a couple of months, or three Boxes at the end of the year. You'll be charged annually for this option.

Tokens for free whiskey

If you're worried about getting a full bottle, don't be. With every box of samples, you also get a "token” for a full bottle of whiskey from the Flaviar shop. While this is a little confusing on the website, we cleared it up with the customer service chat so you don't have to. With every Tasting Box, you receive tokens that credit you for a bottle worth $40-$60 (1 per month on the monthly subscription, 2 per quarter on the 3-month subscription, and 8 per year on the 12-month subscription). You can use this token to order one of the samples you've just tried in your subscription box or to cover the cost of a completely different bottle within the accepted price range.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Free shipping for members

Another standout feature for Flaviar is that every month, you get free shipping on all shipments (boxes, bottles, and any additional purchases). With a wide selection of bottles, with prices that are generally competitive when compared to local stores, there are plenty of options to order for a home bar. Additionally, members have access to local special events at distilleries or liquor stores.

Full selection

In terms of whiskeys to try, Flaviar offers a pretty good selection. They have lots of bottles that can't be found at local liquor stores, making for a fun and rewarding shopping experience. The club has a range of tools to help you find new things, including tasting suggestions that are generated based on the drinks you have tried before or your preferences. The club has a creative "flavor spiral" for every bottle that lets you know its dominant flavors.

Full bottles available

If you want to buy individual bottles outside of your monthly quota of $40-$60 bottles, there is a range of whiskeys and other spirits available on Flaviar. If you want to buy a bottle either as part of your quarterly allotment, or a different bottle entirely, you can easily navigate to the "Shop” and begin browsing a wide variety of spirits including:

  • Whiskey
  • Rum
  • Gin
  • Tequila
  • Mezcal
  • Cognac
  • Brandy
  • Vodka
  • Non-alcohol selections

The prices for individual bottles range from $20 to $1,770 per bottle, which is competitive with other options in our review.

Top rated for customer satisfaction

In terms of customer satisfaction, Flaviar is one of the most popular options in our review with thousands of ratings on Trustpilot leading to an average score of 4.6 out of 5 stars. On top of this Flaviar has an "A-” rating from the BBB. The reviews are almost all positive with comments about the attentiveness of the customer service at Flaviar repeated across reviews. The reviews also frequently mentioned the vast selection of whiskey, specifically, and that the spirits were unique and exciting from Flaviar. With 82% positive reviews, Flaviar is the top-reviewed company in this review.

Best option for samples and full bottles

Flaviar is a fantastic alcohol subscription club that offers an exciting and unique shopping experience for whiskey lovers and those interested in trying new spirits. With quarterly or annual subscriptions, exclusive access to drinks and events, and a wide range of spirits to choose from, Flaviar is a great investment for any home bar enthusiast. Flaviar balances a way for whiskey fans to try new flavors while also getting access to a range of options for full bottles to add to a home collection. With thousands of positive reviews and an "A-" rating from the BBB, Flaviar is the top-rated option in this review and definitely worth considering for anyone looking to expand their spirit collection.

Mash and Grape Review 4.5 Star Rating

Mash and Grape

4.5 Star Rating
  • From $69.00 to $79.00 per month for a membership
  • Memberships are 1 bottle of whiskey per month
  • From $20 to $7,000 for a single purchase
  • Wines and other spirits available
  • Home bar supplies available
  • Accreditation and "B+” rating with the BBB

Mash & Grape is a whiskey club that offers a diverse selection of options for whiskey enthusiasts. Whether you prefer whiskey, bourbon, or scotch, Mash & Grape has you covered. There are 3 whiskey-focused memberships that allow you to choose from 3, 6, or 12-month options for you or as gifts for someone else as well as an ongoing subscription that can be canceled at any time. The club promises hand-selected and personally curated bottles: at 1 bottle per month, you can expect to try up to 12 different whiskeys per year.

6 memberships and 3 for whiskey

Mash & Grape offers 3 different whiskey-focused memberships, although they have a total of 6 membership options that include Gin, Tequila, and Rum as well as 3 different styles of whiskey. In terms of whiskey, you can choose between the Whiskey Club, the Bourbon Club, and the Scotch Club.

  • The Whiskey Club, the most general of the club options, costs $69.00 per month. You'll receive a 750mL bottle of quality whiskey from anywhere in the world once every month.
  • If bourbon is your whiskey of choice, Mash & Grape's Bourbon Club may be the perfect fit for you. For the same price of $69.00 per month as the Whisky Club, you'll receive a 750mL bottle of award-winning bourbon from American distillers.
  • For those who prefer unique and rare bottles of single malt scotch, Mash & Grape's Scotch Club is the way to go. At $79.00 per month, you'll receive a 750mL bottle of single malt scotch. This club is designed for the discerning whiskey drinker who wants to experience the very best in scotch.

For you or for a loved one

All of the clubs at Mash & Grape can be given as gifts with pre-paid memberships for 3, 6, or 12 months. This makes it easy to choose a small span of time to try whiskey or to be able to commit for a year. We love how easy it is to buy the whiskey membership as a gift. If you are shopping for a personal treat and don't want to commit to a specific time limit, you can also pay month to month and cancel when you feel like it.

Buy per bottle

If you want to add some extra whiskey to your membership or if you just want to stock up on one of your new favorites from Mash & Grape, you can also purchase whiskey (along with cocktails, cognac, brandy, gin, liqueurs, mezcal, pisco, rum, soju, tequila, and vodka) by the bottle on the Mash & Grape website. They also have a selection of wines for someone looking for a date-night special. Their prices showcase both budget-friendly whiskey options along with some very high-end options. For example, one bottle of bourbon at Mash & Grape can cost between $20 and $7,000.

Build your home bar

On top of spirits, you can also buy supplies at Mash & Grape including glassware, books about spirits, and gift cards. It's not as extensive of a selection as some one-stop shop sites, but it definitely helps you support your home bar collection as needed.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Great user experience

One thing we loved about shopping at Mash & Grape is how easy it is to browse the website. Across the top bar, you can easily limit your beginning search to the type of alcohol you want to look at. And there's a specific tab just for "The Club” that's easy to find at a glance. On top of those basic searches, you can also easily filter the thousands of products by price, product type, vendor, availability, and special features.

Satisfied customers are excited about Mash & Grape

In terms of customer satisfaction, Mash & Grape has a "B+” rating and accreditation from the BBB. On the Mash & Grape site, the company has a fantastic reputation with pages and pages of 5-star reviews. There isn't much from third-party review sites where only a handful of reviews appear. While we love the positivity from Mash & Grape's site, we're a little wary of the 100% positive feedback in terms of painting a complete picture of the company. However, it's clear there are plenty of happy customers who love the selection of whiskeys and the ease of working with Mash & Grape's customer service.

Range of options

Mash & Grape is a whiskey club that offers a wide range of whiskey club membership options, from the Whiskey Club to the Bourbon Club and the Scotch Club. With a price point of $69.00 to $79.00 per month, members can expect to receive a personally curated bottle of quality whiskey from anywhere in the world. Mash & Grape also offers the option to purchase whiskey and other spirits by the bottle, with a range of prices to fit any budget.

Great choice for full selection of spirits

The website is user-friendly and easy to navigate, with filters to help find the perfect bottle. Although there are not many third-party reviews, Mash & Grape has a great reputation with many happy customers. While Mash & Grape's failure to offer samples along with a full bottle prevents it from taking the top spot in our evaluation, it remains a highly competitive option that is worth considering for anyone interested in joining a whiskey club.

Bitters + Bottles Review 4 Star Rating

Bitters + Bottles

4 Star Rating
  • From $80 to $85 per quarter for shipments
  • From $25 to $134.50 per bottle for single purchase
  • 2 whiskey focused club options
  • Full size spirits and mixers

Bitters + Bottles is a subscription box that aims to help members build their home bar and improve their cocktail-making skills. Each quarter, full-sized spirits, mixers, and recipes for classic cocktails are sent to the subscribers from a curated selection made by the Bitters + Bottles team. The box aims to provide a collection of whiskey and recipes that build upon the previous shipment. Bitters + Bottles offers two whiskey-focused clubs on the site: Whiskey and Old Fashioned.

2 different whiskey clubs with options for more spirits

There are only 2 ways to get your whiskey from the Whiskey Club, either shipped from California or in-store pickup. If you choose to have yours shipped (or you're not based in Cali), you will have to pay a set shipping fee of $12.99 on top of the $80 quarterly fee for your spirits. The full price is listed only after you sign up.

Full size bottles

If you decide to go with the Old Fashioned Club, you get full-size bottles of spirits and bitters to help build your favorite whiskey-based drink. This club also offers shipping or in-store pickup with a $12.99 shipping fee. The price for the Old Fashioned Club subscription itself starts at $85.

More clubs to choose from

There are also a variety of other clubs available at Bitters + Bottles including clubs for spirits like:

  • Rum
  • Gin
  • Negroni

So, if you want more than one spirit type, or you're looking for options to shake up your whiskey membership, Bitters + Bottles does offer a few alternate spirit options for you.

Special options for club members

On top of getting quarterly shipments of spirits, you also get access to select bottles of spirits on the website store. While anyone can buy items by the bottle if they choose, Bitters + Bottles members have access to more unique and hard-to-find options that the rest of their customers don't: the Club Store is completely separate and inaccessible for shoppers without a membership. If you want to pick from their general selection, their prices range from $25-$134.50 for a bottle of whiskey. This is much lower than many options in this review that offer high-end and extremely select bottles for sale. However, they do offer a range of options for your home bar such as bitters, mixers, and other fun ideas. Plus, with access to the exclusive store as a member, you will get a larger range of individual purchase options than the average shopper.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Website could use an update.

While some parts of the Bitters + Bottles website feel sleek and modern, some areas need a little retouching. For example, the purchase window feels old-fashioned and hard to navigate, and there are several typos on the website including "Shippin” instead of "shipping” at the bottom of the Old Fashioned page. It would also help future customers of Bitters + Bottles to know more about what they're getting in a shipment before they buy. Currently, the website doesn't offer a lot of detail in that department, and what there is on the site is hard to find.

Highest praise in this review

In terms of customer satisfaction, those who have purchased Bitters + Bottles are happy. Across the 300+ reviews, we found from third-party websites, Bitters + Bottles has an impressive 4.9 out of 5 stars from reviewers. Many of the reviews, however, are from customers who live in the California area and regularly stop by the brick-and-mortar location there. It was harder to find up-to-date reviews on the subscription service itself, and according to reviews that state the subscription used to be a monthly service, many of those comments that are available may be out of date for the new quarterly shipment service.

Build your bar

Bitters + Bottles seems to be a good option for those interested in building their home bar and improving their cocktail-making skills. The subscription box offers a curated selection of full-sized spirits, mixers, and classic cocktail recipes, with the option of choosing between the Whiskey and Old Fashioned Clubs. While the website could use an update, customer satisfaction seems to be high, with an impressive 4.9 out of 5 stars from reviewers. However, it's worth noting that many of these reviews focus on an older subscription model.

Strong choice for new mixologists

The price range for the general selection of bottles of whiskey is lower than many options in this review that offer high-end and extremely select bottles for sale. Bitters + Bottles seems to offer a solid option for those looking for a subscription box to improve their home bar experience, but it may not be ideal for someone who wants a new whiskey every month: this box is quarterly only.

Pour More Review 4 Star Rating

Pour More

4 Star Rating
  • Memberships start at $49 to $55 per month
  • Three tiers of whiskey quality
  • Options for alternate spirits
  • Save when you prepay

Pour More is a slick modern club that understands that as a whiskey enthusiast, you have a discerning taste and are constantly seeking new options for your whiskey collection. This is why they offer three different whiskey clubs, giving you the flexibility to choose the one that best suits your preferences and tastes.

Personalize your whiskey choices

Pour More offers a little more diversity in its options than some other clubs in our review. They allow you not only to personalize what type of whiskey you want but the level of your membership and your desired shipment frequency. The prices for whiskey clubs start between $49-$55 depending on which whiskey club you choose.

Options on top of options

The first step in selecting your whiskey club here is to choose your preferred style of whiskey. You have three options: whiskey (starting at $49), bourbon (starting at $49), or scotch (starting at $55). Once you've chosen your style, the next step is to select the tier that best suits your preferences. You can choose from three different tiers - Intro, Explorer, and Enthusiast - and then you select how often (monthly or bi-monthly).

Club pricing tiers

For the three clubs, the prices change as follows:

  • For Whiskey, the tiers price out as follows:
    • Intro: $49 for 1 bottle every month or bi-monthly
    • Explorer: $79 for 1 bottle per month or bi-monthly
    • Enthusiast: $129 for 1 bottle per month or bi-monthly
  • For Bourbon, the tiers price out as follows:
    • Intro: $49 for 1 bottle every month or bi-monthly
    • Explorer: $79 for 1 bottle every month or bi-monthly
    • There is no enthusiast option for Bourbon
  • For Scotch, the tiers price out as follows:
    • Intro: $55 for 1 bottle every month or bi-monthly
    • Explorer: $89 for 1 bottle every month or bi-monthly
    • Enthusiast: $149 for 1 bottle every month or bi-monthly

Shipping isn't free

The difference in pricing comes from the cost of the whiskey you'll be getting in the shipment, which you can choose to be every 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months; however, the prices do not include the $15 shipping fee that you will have to pay per shipment.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Bottom line

For example, the final price of an Explorer tier of the Whiskey Club every month for a full year would be $865 per year if you paid annually, which is more expensive than some options, but competitive with many clubs in this review. It does bear noting that one of the benefits of choosing Pour More is that you can select a package that suits your budget. The longer your membership, the more value you receive in the form of a lower per-month cost (with prepayment). You could save over $20.00 per bottle with a 12-month commitment.

The more the merrier

If you're a fan of other spirits, you can get into a club for one of those at Pour More also. Along with whiskey, bourbon, and scotch clubs, Pour More also offers monthly clubs for Mezcal, Rum, and Tequila.

No home-bar bonuses

One negative of shopping through Pour More is that they only offer clubs. If you want to buy a single bottle of whiskey, you won't be able to here. This site is narrowly focused on its goals, providing you with new and exciting tastes on a monthly subscription.

Middle-range reviews

In terms of customer satisfaction, Pour More isn't the most popular in this review, but it's not doing too badly either. It has a mid-range "C+” from the BBB. Yet, customers gave Pour More a 3.8 out of 5 stars across all reviews, and customers were especially happy about the quality of the spirits and that many of the options at Pour More come from smaller distilleries. Some customers who rated Pour More poorly complained that they never received their whiskey shipments despite being charged for them. On the other hand, most of these negative reviews have been appropriately addressed by the company.

Best range of club options

Pour More is a great option for whiskey enthusiasts who are looking for a personalized and flexible subscription service. With three different whiskey clubs to choose from, customers can select their preferred style of whiskey, tier, and shipment frequency, all at competitive prices. Customers can also choose from other monthly clubs for different spirits. However, it is important to note that Pour More only offers clubs and not individual bottles for purchase, and some customers have experienced issues with missing shipments. Still, Pour More provides high-quality spirits and a unique experience for whiskey lovers who are looking for a regular supply of new and exciting tastes.

Taster's Club Review 3.5 Star Rating

Taster's Club

3.5 Star Rating
  • From $69 to $184 per month for 1 bottle per shipment
  • From $25 to $13,203 for single-bottle purchase
  • Full range of spirits
  • 9 different clubs

Taster's Club is a monthly subscription service that provides its members with a carefully selected variety of whiskeys from around the world. They offer multiple subscription options for whiskey lovers to choose from based on their preferences. As a result, each member can customize their subscription according to their taste and receive a bottle of their choice every month.

Three whiskey clubs with a premium scotch option

There are three different club options with the Taster's Club: the Whiskey-of-the-Month Club, the Scotch-of-the-Month Club, and the Bourbon-of-the-Month Club. The options include a month-to-month payment plan or prepaid plans that cover the cost of shipping. The monthly fee for whiskey and bourbon subscriptions is $69.00 and each shipment has an additional fee that costs $15.00. The scotch club starts at $79 per month with the same cost for shipping, though there is an additional option for scotch: at $184.00 per month, the Scotch Pro Club is designed for true scotch connoisseurs who appreciate the rarest and hardest-to-find scotches. Every month, members of this club receive a bottle of scotch that will delight their taste buds and make them feel like true whiskey experts.

Full-size bottles in every shipment

Another advantage of Taster's Club is that every shipment is a regular-sized 750mL bottle, unlike some other clubs that provide sample-sized bottles. Along with each bottle, members receive expert-level tasting notes, historical information, and distillery notes. Taster's Club also offers the opportunity to give gift memberships of 3, 6, or 12 months, which are perfect for anyone who loves whiskey and wants to share their passion with someone else.

Top option for unique clubs

On top of the whiskey club options, you can also join a variety of clubs for different spirits at the Taster's Club. Coming in with 9 total options for spirit-of-the-month, Taster's Club has the most options for different clubs in this review. Along with the three we've already mentioned, you can join clubs for:

  • Tequila
  • Rum
  • Gin
  • Vodka
  • Wine
  • Stock the Bar

The Stock the Bar club, in particular, is a bonus as the Taster's Club uses it to offer a variety of spirit types for club members. Some of these do include whiskeys, so if you're interested in a wider variety of spirits, but still want some whiskeys there, you can check out the Stock the Bar arrangement.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Buy single bottles

If you want to enhance your club membership, or just stock up on some whiskey outside of your monthly shipment, the Taster's Club does offer a variety of spirits for sale by the bottle. They offer the same options as they do in their clubs, including a full range of whiskey, bourbon, and scotch as well as wines and other spirits. They have one of the widest ranges of prices in this review with one bottle of bourbon going for between $25 and $13,203.

No review presence is concerning

In terms of customer satisfaction, Taster's Club doesn't have a huge presence on third-party review sites. With under 10 total reviews on one site and only a single review at the BBB, it's hard to say whether their 2.5-star average is an accurate reflection of the business. In terms of customer service performance, the BBB gave Taster's Club a "B-”. As there weren't any reviews on the Taster's Club website to compare to, we have to take the 2.5-star rating as is. It does make us feel less confident about this whiskey membership than some other higher-rated options in this review.

Most individual clubs

Taster's Club offers a unique and customizable whiskey subscription service with a wide variety of options to choose from, including 9 different types of spirits-related clubs and subscription plans. The expert-level tasting notes and historical information accompanying each shipment enhance the experience and make it perfect for whiskey enthusiasts.

Worth checking out

The option to purchase individual bottles outside of the monthly subscription is also a nice bonus. Conversely, the lack of customer reviews on third-party websites makes it hard to fully gauge customer satisfaction, and the BBB rating of "B-" for customer service may be cause for concern. So, this club doesn't rate as high as some of the others in this review; however, it is worth checking out Taster's Club for the reasonable monthly price.

Craft Whisky Club Review 3.5 Star Rating

Craft Whisky Club

3.5 Star Rating
  • From $55.00 to $95.00 per month
  • Ships every 2 months
  • Per bottle prices range from $67 to $255
  • Artisanal whisky from Scotland and Europe

The Craft Whisky Club, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, offers a unique experience for whisky enthusiasts who want to explore small-batch and limited-edition whiskies from distilleries across Scotland and Europe.

Limited edition whisky

Unlike other subscription services, the Craft Whisky Club offers either one or two bottles of limited edition whisky every two months, along with artisanal food items. The club's members get to experience the best small-batch, artisan blends, and whisky expressions. The service is tailored to whisky adventurers who want to try new and exciting whiskies that are not typically available in regular shops. Members have the option to choose between one or two bottles of whisky per box, with prices ranging from $55.00 to $95.00 per month depending on which package they buy.

Single-bottle purchase is limited

If you're looking to buy bottles of whisky separately, there's a small selection of bottles available on the Craft Whisky Club site shop. However, at the time of this review, many of these were sold out, and the selection is much more limited than many of the other clubs in our review. The prices for the per-bottle options range from $67 to $255.

Whisky only

If you're looking for spirits that aren't whisky, you won't be in luck at Craft Whisky Club. This website is specialized to serve customers who are particularly interested in whisky from Scotland and Europe. It does a fantastic job at providing a selection of those unique whiskies for US and European customers. Unfortunately, other spirits don't factor in at Craft Whisky Club, so if you want a broader liquor selection or items to support your home bar, you may need to look somewhere else.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Simple site, but could use search features

The website for Craft Whisky Club is easy to use, but it's very simple. While it does what it needs to do, the search features are limited. All of the options for spirits are on one scrolling page, so it can be hard to find exactly what you're looking for. There are a few search filters, like types of whisky, but these are fairly limited. We'd love to see them implement a price-based search feature for customers who want ways to meet their budget while trying new whiskies.

Well received, but mixed reviews

In terms of customer feedback, Craft Whisky Club has over 300 reviews and has earned a 3.3 out of 5 stars on average across the feedback. The Craft Whisky Club doesn't have any presence on the BBB, but it has been positively reviewed by a variety of whisky journals like Whiskey Advocate. Customers who loved the Craft Whisky Club noted that they loved the selection of whiskies as well as some of the "extras” that came in the box along with the shipment. However, some reviewers said that while they paid for shipments, they didn't get anything for their money, and they were frustrated with customer service across the seas.

Seasonal and artisanal blends

The Craft Whisky Club offers a subscription service for whisky enthusiasts looking to expand their collection with select and artisanal blends from small-batch and limited-edition distilleries across Scotland and Europe. Members receive one or two bottles of whisky every two months, accompanied by artisanal food items, with prices ranging from $55.00 to $95.00 per box. While the selection of spirits available is limited to whisky from Scotland and Europe, the website provides a unique selection of these whiskies that are not typically available in regular shops.

Best for European whisky

With mixed feedback from customers, limited search features, and no alternate spirit options, Craft Whisky Club doesn't stand out as well as some of the other options in our review. For the price, though, Craft Whisky Club still is a competitive option if you're specifically interested in European whisky.

For Whiskey Lovers Review 3 Star Rating

For Whiskey Lovers

3 Star Rating
  • $189.95 per year membership fee
  • From $23.95 to $3,999 per bottle for single-purchase options
  • Offers whiskey and other liquors
  • One-stop shop for home-bar materials
  • Highlights whiskey education

For Whiskey Lovers is a popular online whisky retailer that provides a variety of whiskeys as well as other popular liquors to suit all kinds of tastes. While you can buy anything you want from For Whiskey Lovers individually, they offer The Whiskey Explorers Membership options for "aficionados” and those who want to try the widest variety of whiskeys. The membership offers two tiers that provide shipments of whiskey samples. One of the most exciting aspects of these clubs is the ability to try a wide range of different whiskies from small artisanal craft distilleries that are not readily available elsewhere.

Two membership options to choose from

The Whiskey Explorers Membership options include the Scout Membership, which is perfect for someone who wants to try before they buy, and the Voyager Annual Membership, which is more of a subscription model.

  • The Scout Membership is more of a one-time purchase than a membership, although it has the membership label on the For Whiskey Lovers website. The Scout Membership costs $79.95 for a flight of 4 whiskey samples at 50 ml per sample.
  • The second membership option here is the Voyager Annual Membership, which provides the buyer with 4 quarterly shipments of flights across the year. You will receive 4 whiskey samples per flight, meaning you will receive a total of 16 whiskey samples annually. The price for this option is $189.95 per year, and it auto-renews. However, at the time of this review, this membership was over-subscribed, so you may have to wait for an open slot to be a Voyager Annual member.

While For Whiskey Lovers used to have other membership options for other types of whiskey, it appears these are no longer available, which is a shame.

Lots to look at

If you want to buy by the bottle, you can find a bourbon whiskey at For Whiskey Lovers from $23.95 to $3,999 per bottle, so there's a fair range of affordable and high-end options. On top of whiskey, you can also purchase other favorites like Agave Liquor, Aperitifs, and Liqueurs, Gin, Rum, and Vodka. You can also purchase a wide variety of glasses and tools for enjoying whiskey, making this a good one-stop shop for your home bar.

Full range of whiskey and other liquor

In terms of their merchandise, For Whiskey Lovers offers unique and standard options for:

  • Barbour
  • Single Malt
  • Rye
  • Blended American
  • Blended Malt/ Scotch
  • Canadian
  • Irish
  • Tennessee

Local and artisanal sourcing

One of the standout features of For Whisky Lovers' clubs is their commitment to sourcing from smaller artisanal distilleries. This provides members with access to unique and high-quality whiskies that may not be available elsewhere.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Learn more about whiskey

An interesting approach the Whiskey Explorers Membership takes is that the website prioritizes people who are interested in learning more about whiskey. For example, when you get your shipments from the Whiskey Explorer's Membership, all of the samples are unlabeled. The only way to find out what you're drinking is to put the code into the For Whiskey Lovers website, which starts a game called "My Whiskey IQ". This game asks you questions about your whiskey-tasting experience including questions about:

  • The whiskey's color
  • The whiskey's nose

Website could use a refresh

We weren't excited by the website at For Whiskey Lovers. While it was well designed on the front page, it was hard to find the page for the whiskey club itself, and while searching whiskey options, the site froze multiple times, causing us to have to start our search over again. Some customers may find this user experience frustrating.

Not enough reviews for this club

In terms of customer feedback, For Whiskey Lovers doesn't have a lot of reviews from third-party websites. With only about 24 reviews to account for, For Whisky Lovers has an overall score of 4.0 out of 5 stars. Almost all of the reviews on For Whiskey Lovers' website are 5 stars; however none of these reviews are more recent than 2011, so even the great reviews don't inspire a lot of confidence in the brand. With the almost non-existent reviews and the slightly outdated website, it might be worth it to check out some other options before going ahead with For Whiskey Lovers.

Mid-tier option with unique artisanal drinks

With all things considered, For Whiskey Lovers is a middle-ground option that provides its customers with access to unique and high-quality whiskies that may not be available elsewhere, without breaking the bank. One of the standout features of For Whiskey Lovers' clubs is their commitment to sourcing from smaller artisanal distilleries. This provides members with access to unique and high-quality whiskies that may not be available elsewhere.

Shop around

However, it is important to note that along with an outdated and clunky website experience, For Whiskey Lovers does not have a lot of third-party reviews, and the reviews on its website are not particularly recent. It might be worth checking out other options before committing to this whiskey club.

Shots Box Review 3 Star Rating

Shots Box

3 Star Rating
  • From $349.99 to $599.99 for subscriptions
  • From $5.00 to $204.99 for single purchase bottles
  • Shipments of 10 samples sizes
  • 1 full bottle per year
  • Full range of spirits

The Shots Box Whiskey Club is a subscription service that allows customers to sample a variety of whiskeys before committing to a full-sized bottle. Every other month, members receive 10 minis of craft whiskeys from distilleries around the United States, along with an official Glencairn Shots Box whiskey-tasting glass, a whiskey-tasting journal, and a Shots Box pencil for documenting each whiskey-tasting experience.

Focused on US distilleries

Shots Box focuses on the hundreds, if not thousands, of small, mom-and-pop distilleries around the country making some of the best American whiskey that customers have never heard of before. Shots Box allows these smaller, lesser-known craft distilleries to become exposed and distribute beyond their typical geographical demographic. Their box stands out as the one with the most samples with 10 different 1.7fl oz minis in each shipment. The prices are higher than many other sample-size clubs to fit the higher number of samples. While you don't get a bottle with Shots Box, you can buy some from their online shop.

Only 2 membership options

There are two different membership options available through Shots Box. You can choose from a 1-year membership for $599.99 and a half-year membership for $349.99. In both memberships, you receive a box every 2 months which includes 10 sample-size whiskeys per box. This is much more expensive than many options in our review that also offer only sample sizes.

Benefits include tasting glasses and a complimentary bottle

The memberships include two Glencairn Tasting Glasses, which are provided to new members for free. In addition, the annual membership includes a complimentary 750ml bottle of the top whiskey offered by Shots Box. Members can also enjoy early access to new spirits as they become available. The half-year membership does not include the bottle of whiskey until your second half-year purchase.

Even more membership benefits

Additionally, customers receive 10% off all products available in the Shots Box online store and access to private Facebook groups where upcoming launches are announced. If members choose to add products (like extra bottles of whiskey) to their club box, they can receive free shipping on their entire package. These benefits are provided to enhance the experience of the members and provide them with exclusive access to rare and unique spirits.

Some unique spirits on sale

In terms of the shop, Shots Box has a competitive range of products including a variety of different spirits. So, if you're looking for a place to stock up your bar and try whiskey, Shots Box offers spirits like:

  • Baijiu
  • Gin
  • Liqueurs
  • Rum
  • Tequila/Agave/Mezcal
  • Vodka
  • Brandy

Website could use more filters

If you want to find something specific, there are only two filters: liquor type and categories. You can use the additional dropdown on the right to sort the items by price. The whiskey options on Shots Box range in price from $5.00 to $204.99. This isn't as wide in range as some options in our review but has very competitive prices.

Questions about being worth the price

In terms of customer feedback, Shots Box is doing fairly well. Across review sites, it has earned 3.9 out of 5 stars. Happy reviewers mentioned fast shipping, ease of finding what they wanted on the website, the taste and range of flavors in the membership boxes, and praised the customer support. However, customers who didn't like Shots Box complained that the prices weren't worth the quality. Since the prices for an annual subscription are for samples, they are high compared to some other options with similar offerings.

Most minis in one box - but not compelling enough

Overall, Shots Box Whiskey Club offers a subscription service where members receive 10 minis of craft whiskeys every other month from distilleries across the US. They aim to promote smaller craft distilleries and offer two membership options: a 1-year membership for $599.99 and a half-year membership for $349.99, which is a high price, when you consider most boxes only include samples. Although there are Facebook groups for whiskey-themed events, it unfortunately doesn't make up for only getting samples and a smaller range of bottles than most other clubs in our review.

Whisky Flavour Review 2 Star Rating

Whisky Flavour

2 Star Rating
  • From $71.55 to $87.36 per month
  • Sample sizes each month
  • Options to pre-purchase shipments
  • Sales available
  • Shipping from Europe

Whisky Flavor is an online subscription retailer that offers the Whiskey Subscription Tasting Box as a way to indulge in some of the world's premier whiskies without having to buy full bottles. This service is ideal for taste-test enthusiasts who are looking to try new flavors. You get a new set every month and can choose how long you want to sign up for. The prices start at $71.55 per month and go up to $87.36 if you choose the month-to-month option.

3 different time frames for shipping

Whether you're shopping for yourself or looking to give someone a taste of whiskey, the four options for the Whiskey Subscription Tasting Box make it easy. You can choose how often you receive a tasting box: monthly, every month for three months, every month for six months, or every month for one year. Each box will contain at least four miniature bottles of original branded whiskey, ensuring you have access to some of the finest whiskies from around the world. With these options, the Whiskey Subscription Tasting Box is a great gift for someone else, because you can pre-purchase 3, 6, or 12 months in advance for them.

No full-size options

One place where Whisky Flavor isn't as competitive is in the full bottles. Not only do you not receive a full bottle of whiskey at any point, but you also can't buy the full bottles directly from Whisky Flavor if you like your samples. Since many of the other services on our list offer full bottles on the website, Whisky Flavor falls behind slightly compared to other options in our review.

Sales don't make up for high shipping

One bonus of shopping through Whisky Flavor is that they frequently have sales. At the time of this review, the subscription was up to $20 off per month, and offered sales on the prepaid 3, 6, and 12-month options also. This is nice, but it doesn't completely make up for the shipping costs. Since Whisky Flavor is based overseas, the shipping is listed in Euros. However, after conversion, it shows that each month you'll have to pay an additional $32.99 in USD for shipping, which is one of the steepest shipping costs we've seen.

Best Whiskey Clubs

Fewer than 10 reviews online

In terms of customer satisfaction, Whisky Flavor promises in its own mission statement that they prioritize its customers above all. However, according to third-party review sites, Whisky Flavor is right in the middle in terms of customer satisfaction. They have an average rating of 3.5 stars out of 5. It's important to note that there are fewer than 10 total customer reviews available online.

Mixed customer comments

For the handful of reviewers who loved the products, they said that it was a great way to send a gift and that the flavors were unique as promised. On the other hand, others noted that they had slow shipping or didn't receive their packages at all. With so few reviews available, it's hard to get a good read on how well Whisky Flavor prioritizes its customers.

Not worth the overseas shipping cost

Overall, Whisky Flavor's Whiskey Subscription Tasting Box has some attractive features such as offering access to a variety of high-quality whiskies and the flexibility of subscription options. However, there are significant drawbacks to the service, such as the lack of options to purchase full bottles directly from the website and steep shipping costs. Additionally, the limited number of customer reviews raises concerns about the company's ability to deliver on its promise of prioritizing customer satisfaction. These issues contribute to their lower rating, with customers potentially seeking out other options that provide better value and service.

Continued from above...

Whiskey clubs are organizations dedicated to the appreciation and enjoyment of whiskey. Members of these clubs typically gather to taste different types of whiskey, learn about the history and production of the spirit, and share their knowledge and experiences with other enthusiasts. Whiskey clubs can range from informal groups of friends to formal organizations with membership fees, events, and exclusive access to rare and limited-edition bottles.

There are many different brands of whiskey on the market today, each with its unique flavor and history. Some of the most popular brands include Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, and Maker's Mark. These brands are known for their quality and consistency, and they have developed a loyal following over the years. In addition to these popular brands, there are also many smaller, craft distilleries that produce high-quality whiskey.

Sometimes you can tell where a spirit was made just by the spelling: Whiskey (with an E) is American or Irish, for example, and Whisky (with no E) is Scottish, Canadian, or Japanese. Location-specific distilleries often use traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients to create unique and flavorful whiskies that are beloved by whiskey enthusiasts.

One of the main benefits of joining a whiskey club is the opportunity to try some of the new and unique whiskeys that might not be available in your local liquor store. Clubs often send curated shipments so members can sample different varieties of whiskey and learn about their flavor profiles and production processes. These events can be a great way to expand your knowledge of whiskey and discover new favorites.

Whether you prefer your whiskey neat, on the rocks, or mixed into a cocktail, there is no denying that whiskey is a versatile and delicious drink. So, either as a seasoned whiskey connoisseur or as a newbie just starting to explore the world of whiskey, there is something out there for everyone to enjoy. But it can be hard to know which whiskey club is the best place for you to start.

Here are a few important factors to help you get narrow down your search for a whiskey club:

  • Cost. What are the prices like? Do the membership fees match the quality and size of the spirits you receive?
  • What's in stock. Many Whiskey Clubs offer full-size bottles for purchase on their site. Make sure that the kind of whiskey experience you're looking for is available, whether that's local distilleries or European flavors.
  • Bottle sizes. Some companies offer samples only, while other clubs give you a full bottle. It's important to know how much whiskey you want. Do you want a taste test for different and new flavors, or do you want a full bottle to add to your growing home bar?
  • Frequency. How often do you want shipments? Many whiskey clubs allow you to decide for yourself how often you want it shipped. However, some have more limited options for a full-year membership only. So knowing how often you want a new spirit or how long you want to commit to a membership may help you decide.

If you're still not sure, Top Consumer Reviews is here to make the process of finding your next Whiskey Club an easy one. We have reviewed and ranked the best whiskey clubs out there today to help you find your next glass neat or on the rocks so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a few well-deserved adult bevvies.
