A major hangup people often run into when starting their own business is the need to increase inventory regularly, rotate products, and make seasonal changes to continue growing and meeting customer needs. This results in having more and more inventory to store, higher overhead costs, and having excess product from months or years previous that didn't sell well that you don't know what to do with. It is this cost in particular that can sometimes sink a new retail business and prevent them from being operational for long.
If you're wanting to be in charge of your own retail business, dropshipping companies could be your best friend. They make it so you don't have to store your own inventory and they'll take care of all the shipping processes for you. You'll work with the company to select products, add your own price markup, and get set up so they can send out orders once you've obtained a sale on your website. It unlocks a world of convenience and takes a load off of you as a business manager.

Over 500,000 stores have been built with this tool and you still get 100% customization control over how you want the look and feel of your site to be. Online learning resource
One of our favorite offerings from Spocket is their academy, which is a step-by-step learning resource to help you build your online store. The lessons start basic with topics like, "What is dropshipping?”, "How to choose the right niche”, "Marketing your dropshipping store” and more. It covers an abundance of information and is meant for every type of entrepreneur and store owner whether you've had experience or not. The best part is that this academy is free to you as a paid Spocket member.
Free tools
Other free tools here include a help center, glossary, eBay fee calculator, QR code generator, profit margin calculator, business name generator, an invoice generator, and more. As a wholesale dropshipper, Spocket has really gone to great lengths to provide an all-in-one resource for customers and provide a diverse, extensive amount of ways that a focused, dedicated business owner can build a successful online store.
Unrivaled satisfaction
Although Spocket has a "B+” because of their failure to respond to customer complaints on their Better Business Bureau profile, their reviews elsewhere make this feel irrelevant. There are thousands of people who have left feedback about Spocket and we were thrilled with what they had to say. Common themes from people include appreciating Spocket's wide variety of products, easy-to-use integrations, good customer support, and reliable timelines. No other company we've evaluated can compete with the amount of positive reviews that Spocket has.
Great value
Spocket offers so much to its users, so they have earned our highest rating among wholesale dropshippers. You'll appreciate how many products and suppliers they have for you to work with, their competitive pricing, their free trial, and their resources to help you get started and stay successful.
SaleHoo has been helping online businesses start and grow since 2005. Its creator, Simon Slade, was an online seller at TradeMe, New Zealand's local auction site before starting SaleHoo. He had a hard time finding legitimate dropshipping suppliers with wholesale pricing, who offered low or no minimum orders, and who were trustworthy. He decided to revolutionize the world of wholesale dropshipping by creating his own company to address the frustrations he had dealt with in the past, and thus SaleHoo was born.
Plenty of products and suppliers
There are over 8,000 wholesale and dropship suppliers that SaleHoo has personally reviewed that you can get access to through their directory. Among them there are over 1.6 million products you can add to your store and make profits from. There is a lot of potential here and right away we could tell SaleHoo is a modern, up-to-date, on-trend wholesale dropshipping service, based on their clean website and easy-to-find information. Their Market Research Labs Tool will help you monitor trends and find products that have the potential to make you the most money. It costs $99/year, but could easily pay itself off right away when used effectively.
Shopify integration
SaleHoo's dropshipping service integrates with Shopify to automate your online store. You can find products from AliExpress and add them to your Shopify store with a single click. There aren't any other integrations available here or other suppliers you can directly add products from, so you'll have to browse AliExpress to see if you feel like you could build an entire business from their catalog alone and operate through Shopify.
Reasonable monthly cost
SaleHoo realizes that people who are just starting a new business often feel hesitant about how much money they may have to pour into it upfront. They've tried to make their business model as affordable as possible by offering their service at a low cost. If you spend $27/month, you'll get 1 sub-user account, be able to automate your dropship store, import 500 high-profit AliExpress products, and get personal email support. This is just for a basic account, so if you need something a little more beefy, you could upgrade to the premium plan. This is $97/month and includes 3 sub-user accounts, automation for 3 dropship stores, unlimited imports of AliExpress products, and a dedicated onboarding account manager. Both plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee to ensure your satisfaction.
Access the supplier directory
As an additional service, for $67/year ($5.58 per month) or a one-time payment of $127 you can use their directory of suppliers and wholesalers. Plus, this particular upgrade is backed by a 60-day money-back guarantee in case you're not satisfied with what you get. There are nearly 140,000 paying members who use SaleHoo, so it must be helping people become successful.
There when you need it
You'll get 24/7 support and guidance when you use SaleHoo. They also offer free training on the different aspects of launching and growing your business if you need a little guidance to get you started.
Well-liked company
The Better Business Bureau gives SaleHoo an "A+” rating. They've been highlighted by Inc., Success, Huffpost, Forbes, MSN, and CNBC. What's most impressive is how highly they're rated by third-party customers. We're used to seeing a lot of complaints about wholesale dropshippers and different aspects of their processes, but overall SaleHoo is really well-liked. People say their support is readily available, they've been a crucial part of many successful businesses, they are a reliable company, and they demystify ecommerce for those just starting out.
A fantastic option
The pricing, service, and customer support from SaleHoo is right on point. The reason they haven't earned our highest rating is simply because they only integrate with Shopify, which may be a drawback for some. Otherwise, this is a reliable place to work through for wholesale dropshipping and grow a booming business, so we'd definitely give them your consideration.
Dropship.me is a company based out of Dubai that allows you to easily import your selected AliExpress products with edited titles and descriptions to your WordPress store. They focus on helping business owners go beyond having good products by ensuring that they are also presented well, so that customers want to buy them. Dropship.me has a team that works to polish product images and descriptions to be their best.
What they do
The benefits Dropship.me promises their customers includes their efforts to identify the most promising niches by researching current trends, analyzing competition level, checking the quality of AliExpress items, finding the highest-rated suppliers, checking authenticity of buyer feedback, picking products with high selling potential, and enhancing product images and descriptions to a higher standard.
Integrates with WooCommerce and AliDropShip
The two integrations that come with Dropship.me are WooCommerce and AliDropShip. If you're selling through another platform, that will pretty quickly eliminate you from wanting to use Dropship.me. However, the company does say that with their service you can perfectly optimize product pages without a lot of manual work. They boast that you'll have a better site for people to shop from than an Amazon storefront or other big retailer while also making higher profits.
Download a plugin and start importing
If you plan to use Dropship.me, you'll need to download a plugin to your device. With the plugin, you shop on AliExpress, click on "import” when you see something you like, and have products added straight to your store. There are over 50,000 products available to you, so you can be pretty choosy about what you want to sell. You can filter products by rating, price, profit potential, and so on.
One-time costs
The plugin is free to use. Beyond that, there is a free plan available that allows for 50 product imports, but for long-term users looking to grow their business, it won't be enough. For a one-time payment of $29, you can upgrade to 100 product imports, 500 product imports for $119 or 1,000 product imports for $199. The one-time payment process is pretty appealing since it ends up being incredibly affordable if you stick with Dropship.me for the long haul.
Marketing services
If you visit the "services” section of Dropship.me, you'll find some additional help that you may need. They have plans where someone will help you get started by creating ad and blog posts for you for $89, you can get lead generation pop-ups set up for $89, someone will write engaging social media posts you can use (30 for $119 or 45 for $149), someone will create Facebook and Instagram ads for your store for as little as $29, and more. If you are starting a business but don't feel particularly advanced in certain areas of marketing, these Dropship.me services could be a great benefit. They also have frequently added blog posts that are a wealth of information for you to take advantage of.
Generally happy users
There is no Better Business Bureau profile or rating for Dropship.me. Most of the third-party ratings we found were from 5 or so years ago and from what we can tell, their platform has gotten a lot of updates since then. Most people had good things to say about the ease of using the site, which is great, but we also found reports from a few years ago saying that the plugin can be faulty. Since enough time has passed since then, we aren't overly concerned about this. Most people are satisfied with their experience here, which is reassuring.
The way to go
If you want to sell AliExpress products, then Dropship.me seems like the way to go. We like that the cost is a one-time payment and they seem to have fine-tuned their process for people using WooCommerce and AliDropShip. This option seems to provide a lot of value for the price and makes your life as easy as possible with extra services for sale, a simple plugin, and useful blog articles. We've given Dropship.me a good rating.
Dropified is based out of Birmingham, Alabama and was established in 2015. They sell themselves as a software application that allows you to import and manage dropshipped items into e-commerce websites and then ship products that you've sold directly to customers. You never have to physically touch the products you're selling and you'll have access to handpicked vendors like eBay, Alibaba, Aliexpress, and more.
Good product variation
There are hundreds of thousands of products you might choose to sell from Dropified. There are plenty of choices in categories like apparel, accessories, toys, mother & baby, consumer electronics, men's clothing, health and beauty, or jewelry and accessories. Each listing shows all the color/feature choices of the product, pricing, a delivery window, and customer reviews. We still would like to see a more comprehensive description of the product, but that seems hard to come by with wholesale dropshippers sometimes.
Sleek organizational features
Once you find products you want to add to your store, you can import them directly from vendors, edit the images, change the descriptions, alter headlines, and remove backgrounds within Dropified. You can quickly add or change to a new supplier if your products run out of stock and add custom URLs for customers to track their orders. Pricing can be automated through your site if you set up rules for profit margins, shipping costs, and more. Products from different suppliers could be bundled together for you to run BOGO promos or fulfill with 1-click.
Limited integrations
The integrations available with Dropified are Woocommerce, Bigcommerce, Shopify, CommerceHQ, and GrooveKart. This list isn't as extensive as what is offered through some other wholesale dropshipping companies, so this alone might be really limited for someone trying to run a store through somewhere like Amazon, TikTok, or Shein. However, recently Dropified has made it possible to list products on Facebook Marketplace as well.
Try at no cost
You could technically use Dropified for free, but it will only take you so far. When you sign up for an account, you automatically gain access to their basic service that includes 1 store integration, 2 auto-fulfilled orders each month with AliExpress or eBay, 25 products to list, 10 product research boards, a 10% fulfillment fee, and 20% of commissions.
3 membership options
Once you've exhausted the limits of your free account, you have 3 options:
Customer support and how-to articles
If you're new to dropshipping and feel at all overwhelmed by the process, Dropified is there to help. They are proud of the customer support they offer and say their team averages less than a 4-minute response time to most questions. On top of this, there are articles you can browse in their "Help” section that go over an intro to dropshipping, how to set up your Dropified account, FAQ, how to import and edit products, how to use sales channels and more.
Overall high customer satisfaction
The Better Business Bureau doesn't have a profile or rating for Dropified. Their ratings from sellers are average, with some saying that they've had an amazing time using the platform, the automation system works well, they have excellent customer support, and more. Some people have been using Dropified for nearly 10 years, so that has to say something about their satisfaction rate. The company did go through a time when they had a decline in customer satisfaction over buggy software, low product stock, and constant price changes, but these were a few years ago and don't seem to be major issues at this point.
Satisfactory company
Overall, Dropified seems to be a satisfactory place to use for wholesale dropshipping. Their customer reviews are mostly good, their inventory is extensive, and they've really tried to make their integrations seamless and their platform easy to use and understand. We wish they had better product listings and more integrations, which is why they've earned an average rating from us, but Dropified isn't a bad place to get your start with dropshipping.
Modalyst is a dropshipping software platform built for online businesses and ecommerce sites. They connect you to a market of wholesalers and help you automate your business. They are a top-rated app on many ecommerce platforms and integrate with the most popular ecommerce solutions like Wix (who acquired Modalyst in 2021), Shopify, Alibaba, and Bigcommerce. They've served over 600,000 ecommerce stores and reached over 50 million online shoppers.
On-demand suppliers
The key features of Modalyst include a curated marketplace of print-on-demand suppliers and wholesalers to ensure products are always available. Retailers have access to over 10 million products in fashion, home and beauty, decor, and other categories. They integrate with over 500 ecommerce distribution sites that offer the best in fashion and apparel.
Poor product descriptions and filtering
We like that you can order product samples before going through with selling them on your own website. They have a good list of photos displayed for each item, but product descriptions are lacking or non-existent. You'll probably need to do some work on your end to rewrite some product descriptions, so keep that in mind. You can only filter by supplier, shipping, and price, so it could take a while to go through all of your product choices.
Start for free
It costs nothing to sign up for Modalyst and get started building your online store. A "hobby” account is free and gives you a product limit of 25. The most popular plan is the "Startup” for $35/month (or $30/month if you pay yearly) that comes with a 250 product limit. The "Pro” plan is $90/month (or $67/month if you pay yearly) that has no product limit. All plans come with the same benefits of adding products in 1 click, importing all products, easily edit product information, real-time inventory updates, variant mapping, bulk add products to your ecommerce store, and much more.
Automated profit margins
A key benefit that a lot of people like is the ability to define pricing rules to automatically markup products to make sure you make comfortable profits. It will factor in the cost of shipping to the retail price, so you can offer free shipping (if you want to) without it impacting your margins.
Hit and miss
Modalyst has a "C+” rating from the Better Business Bureau due to their failure to respond to one customer complaint. The general consensus among other customers is that there are a lot of pros and cons to weigh when considering Modalyst. People say it can take just minutes to figure out how to use it and adding products is a piece of cake. There are few products from the US and most of them are low quality, so you're usually stuck with Alibaba and AliExpress as suppliers, which can significantly slow shipping times by up to 2-8 weeks. Their customer service seems hit and miss and it's hard for people to get their shops running smoothly because it takes forever to work through issues.
Great app reviews
On the flip side, if you exclusively look at ratings from stores like Wix or Shopify, the overwhelming majority of feedback about Modalyst over the past few years is positive. A lot of people say it is the best wholesale dropshipping app to use, the flexibility is great, people have never had issues with the software, suppliers are reliable, and more. In addition, some major news outlets that have featured Modalyst include Bloomberg Businessweek, Fast Company, Forbes, MSNBC, Elle, and Vogue.
A decent, comprehensive choice
Modalyst seems to have made improvements over the last few years that have in turn upped customer satisfaction. They offer tons of products from both the US and foreign countries, so for someone wanting a booming shop with plenty of inventory, Modalyst can get you there. They are definitely not going to be one of the cheapest choices you'll find, but their easy-to-use tools and comprehensive integrations and supplier listings could be worth it. Modalyst has earned a decent rating from us.
Wholesale2B, a product of Onlinestorebiz, is celebrating 20 years as a comprehensive platform for entrepreneurs to sell products through a seamless integration system, fantastic customer service, and competitive pricing. The company makes it so your business is automated and allows you to sell in the USA, Canada, and UK from anywhere in the world. They boast that over 400,000 online stores have utilized their service.
Design your own store
If you want to design your own store through Wholesale2B, you can do so in just 3 basic steps. The first is to choose a template/theme that fits your brand and vision. It requires no programming skills or design background on your part. You can choose from over 1.5 million products from Wholesale2B's suppliers and add them to your store right away. Once you set up your payment preferences and features, you can start selling immediately. With this tool, you will pick a domain name and Wholesale2B will buy it for you. The monthly cost to obtain and maintain your store is $79.99 or you can pay $719.91/year.
20 integrations
There are a whopping 20 integrations through Wholesale2B including popular sites like eBay, Amazon, Shopify, Bigcommerce, Woocommerce, Weebly, Wish, Facebook, GoDaddy, Wix, and others. The cost of having access to these is $49.99/month or $449.91/year.
Downloadable product data
Finally, you can download your product data if you choose to. This is mostly for developers and gives you access to CSV files, XML files, and W2B Api for up to 10,000 items. It costs $99.99/month for this or $899.91 per year.
Costs quickly add up
To get a new website, all the integrations you want, and downloadable product data, you'll need to consider the cost of stacking the monthly or yearly fees. This could be as much as $229.97/month or $2,069.73 per year if you needed all the paid services. Not everyone will require as much, so just do the math for what you'll need and see if you feel comfortable with the price point.
Free product directory
It costs nothing to view the products from Wholesale2B and wholesale prices. You just need to create a free account (no credit card information required). There is no time limit for how long you have access to this free information, so you can take your time with an analysis of what you'd need to build up your store. Some major categories you can jump into right away are seasonal-themed items, USA products, AliExpress products, adult products, free shipping products, for-Amazon items, and more. You can search for a type of product if you want to and see what comes up. For example, there were hundreds of hits for ebikes when we checked and up to tens of thousands of items in other categories as well.
General satisfaction
There is no Better Business Bureau profile or rating for Wholesale2B. They do have a few hundred reviews that we found in other places and they were mostly positive. It seemed like most people referred to knowledgable, helpful customer service representatives that helped get them back on track when they hit bumps throughout their retail journeys. A common complaint seemed to be about trying to sell on Amazon, which was interesting. People say it is hard to get products approved to sell through Amazon and pricing isn't as straightforward as it appears. Besides this, people are generally satisfied with Wholesale2B.
Not a bad choice
Wholesale2B seems like a decent place to automate your dropshipping processes. We like that you can start from scratch here without even having a website yet and they'll get you going. It's nice that they integrate with so many ecommerce sites and their customer service team seems to be responsive and helpful. There are tons of products here and it's nice that you don't have to pay anything to get a general sense of what they have and how things are priced. Wholesale2B is definitely not a bad option for wholesale dropshipping if you can afford the cost.
Doba is a dropshipping platform for both aspiring and well-established e-commerce entrepreneurs. They are based out of Lehi, Utah and were founded in 2002. Doba offers a variety of products from both China and the United States that can integrate with online stores. They've served over 600,000 online stores with their millions of products and AI-driven product selection tool.
Wide variety of categories
There is a vast list of categories of products you could sell through Doba like home and garden, beauty and health, outdoor products, clothing, accessories, sports, pets, electronics, computers, office supplies, just to name a few. They even have a whole category dedicated to TikTok shop selections that you could market through the platform effectively. Other sites they integrate with are Amazon, Shein, eBay, Newegg, BigCommerce, Walmart, Square, Shift4Shop, and Shopify.
Easy list-to-store process
To give an example of just how many different items you might have access to via Doba, we specifically shopped for ebikes and had 361 results. Bikes alone gives you over 13,000 hits on products. When viewing an item, you'll see where it ships from, how many days it takes to leave the warehouse, and a series of photos. There's a button that lets you "List to Store” so you could add the item to your own website right away.
14-day free trial
To see pricing on anything from Doba or use filtering tools to sort through the items they have listed, you'll have to log in. To create an account, you'll need to provide your email address, name, and phone number (that will have to be verified through text). You will have a 14-day free trial to get started and then there are 4 plans you can choose from depending on the size of your business.
4 membership options
The cost for a "Start-Up” membership is $24.99/month. This allows you to list 60 items in your inventory, 30 monthly product exports, and 1 storefront integration. The "Business” membership is $49.99/month and allows for 2,500 products to be listed in your inventory, 2,000 monthly exports, and 2 storefront integrations. The "Business Pro” membership, which Doba says is their most popular, is $174.99/month. This allows you an inventory list limit of 7,500, 5,000 monthly exports, and 5 storefront integrations. Lastly, the most robust membership is the "Enterprise” for $299.99/month. This gives you an inventory list limit of 15,000, unlimited monthly exports, and unlimited storefront integrations. A more detailed list of what comes with each membership can be viewed on Doba's website when you go to sign up.
Useful info on where to start
Doba has a very active blog with articles that could be helpful with titles like "How To Start Dropshipping with No Money”, "How To Start an Online Store Without Inventory”, "Build Your Ecommerce Website in Minutes”, and "From Niche to Riches: Profitable Dropshipping Business Ideas You Need To Know”. Whether you decide to work through Doba or not, these types of articles are a helpful read to anyone who is just venturing into this line of business.
Seriously disgruntled customers
Doba has an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. However, this isn't a full-picture representation of how customers and sellers feel about the company. They seem to be making big efforts to get high ratings on third-party sites (whether they are honest or not is hard to tell), but there are quite a few people who adamantly claim that this company has scammed them. There are complaints about poor product descriptions (which we noticed as well), suppliers that are close to MSRP so it is hard to make profits, and complicated integrations. On the flip side, there are those who say that Doba is at least a place to get started with a wholesale dropshipping business and it is straightforward enough to get the ball rolling.
It's a gamble
We aren't overly thrilled with the product listings from Doba, and after reading through what people have said about doing business with them, it seems like more of a gamble than we are comfortable with. Because of this, Doba has not earned one of our top ratings.
Worldwide Brands Inc. operates under the belief that home-based sellers should have access to the same suppliers that major retail stores use. They believe that new sellers should never worry that they'll be scammed by their dropshipper and should always feel safe and secure. The company originated in 1999 and has continually added new wholesale suppliers to their directory to give you top access to the supply chain. Worldwide Brands has been featured on the Travel Channel, Practical Ecommerce, National Geographic Channel, Brides, and Entrepreneur.
Over 16 million products
You will have direct access to wholesalers when you work through Worldwide Brands. You'll work through them to get products ordered and sent to customers since Worldwide Brands is just a business-to-business informational database. Through their directory there are over 16 million products that you can add to your online store from over 8,000 suppliers and wholesalers. You'll find things in every major category like pet supplies, toys, hobbies, games, jewelry and watches, home and garden, consumer electronics, baby, clothing and accessories, shoes, travel, sporting goods, office supplies, and so on.
Emphasis on trust
Worldwide Brands really emphasizes that they only list top-level suppliers in their directory. They're used by professional retailers and are also willing to work with smaller home-based sellers as well. Worldwide Brands says that you'll see new products added each week that you can sell through your online store that they find from exclusive trade shows, talking directly with manufacturers, and vetting them all through a strict qualification process. The underlying message here is that Worldwide Brands really wants you to trust their service.
Lifetime access
For lifetime access to the wholesale directory of Worldwide Brands, there is a one-time fee of $197. This comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee. To get your money back if needed, there is an email address provided where you can reach their customer service team.
Might not be worth it
The rating for Worldwide Brands from the Better Business Bureau is a solid "A+”. There are mixed opinions for customers about whether or not their directly is actually that helpful or if you could just google suppliers yourself. Not all of them are top quality or are responsive for those trying to work with them to build their business. People report that their chat is helpful and gives you really fast access to knowledgeable team members, but this isn't enough to sell us on paying for their directory.
Wouldn't jump on it
Although Worldwide Brands could prove very useful, they don't actually do dropshipping. They are not a wholesale supplier, so you won't order any products through them. Instead, they'll try to connect you to reliable wholesalers that will let you add their products to your online store. Worldwide Brands does not help recommend products that will sell well or do anything far beyond providing you a directory of suppliers that actually seem questionable based on customer reports. This isn't a service we'd jump on right away when looking to get into dropshipping, so they've earned a lower-than-average rating.
Inventory Source is wholesale dropshipping automation software with over 180 pre-integrated suppliers that can provide products and ship them. Some of them include Doba, D&H, Homeroots, TopDawg, Essendant, Kroll, Eldorado, and many others. They provide comprehensive tools to optimize operations, especially for those new to dropshipping. Inventory Source has been featured by AppSumo, Inc. 5000, Software Suggest, and Softlist.io.
19 integrations
You can automatically upload products, sync inventory, and route orders with Inventory Source's 19 integrations. There are more integrations here than most other wholesale dropshipping companies we've found. They work through Amazon, Walmart, WordPress, Ordoro, Shopify, Finale Inventory, Opencart, PrestaShop, Shift4Shop, and 11 others. They have a 1-minute video that gives an overview of how Inventory Source works, which is a good starting point for all potential customers.
Over 200,000 products
Through an integration with US Direct, Inventory Source provides customers with 200,000 dropship products from top US suppliers. They can automatically be loaded to your store and then shipped directly to customers. Shipping in the lower 48 states usually takes about 3-5 days to ship. At the time of this review, some of their featured suppliers included BeWicked, BCI, 365 In Love, FragranceX, Honest Green Solutions, and others.
Free account
There is a "Free Forever” plan through Inventory Source where you can view all their wholesale dropship suppliers, preview product feeds, access the contact info for suppliers, use advanced searching filters, and learn how to become a reseller. There is no harm in creating an account to get access to these things and more deeply explore Inventory Source.
Monthly plans
To actually set up your store and start adding products, you'll need to pay for an account monthly through Inventory Source. They have 3 inventory automation plans that automatically publish your products and sync inventory and products. The plans include:
Full automation
Beyond these plans you can choose to have full automation from Inventory Source where all your inventory, orders, and shipping operations are fully automated. These plans include:
Poor feedback
Inventory Source has earned a "B-” rating from the Better Business Bureau. This rating isn't ideal, but it is due to their failure to respond to one customer complaint, which isn't a huge deal, all things considered. However, their poor third-party reviews elsewhere don't give us any reassurance, since people complain about Inventory Source offering non-existent support, incorrect sales updates and wrong inventory numbers, and other product errors that are nearly impossible to get resolved. Their most recent feedback from people is mostly negative and people say they want to quickly switch to another wholesale dropshipping company.
Higher-risk choice
Despite all the perks that seem to come with using Inventory Source, we are really hesitant to do so since they don't seem to live up to the hype they create about themselves. Their pricing is higher than some of our more well-liked dropshipping sites as well, especially considering you may need to pay additional costs to fully utilize US Direct, so this might not be the most risk-free starting place.
Based out of Manchester, New Hampshire, National Dropshippers was founded in December 2002. They have formed many business relationships with manufacturers and distributors across the United States to bring retailers thousands of products available for dropshipping. They're a members-only site that offers dropshipping order fulfillment services for people who want to offer their customers a wide variety of products without dealing with inventory storage or distribution.
Poor presentation
Right off the bat, National Dropshippers doesn't do a great job of selling themselves. Their three main website images are really blurry and their whole site feels outdated. There is something to be said for how a company presents themselves and how it ties into building customer trust. If National Dropshippers isn't even staying on top of their own brand image and presentation, how can you feel confident that they will help with yours?
Dismal inventory
You can view products that National Dropshippers offers without having to sign up for anything. We looked for ebikes as an example, but they had nothing of the sort. What you'll find here is more of an assortment of jewelry, tools, and accessories. We looked for clothing, cookware, toys, and some other basic categories that we'd expect to find from a wholesale dropshipper and all of them came up with zero results. Their search tool is not impressive and for any given item we did find, there were only a couple of them to choose from.
4 warehouses of products
All items are divided into 4 warehouses labeled, "garnet warehouse”, "amethyst warehouse”, "aquamarine warehouse”, and "pearl warehouse”. They mostly have nothing to do with gems, but rather divided among these 4 warehouses are different categories of products like apparel, fragrances, skincare, electronics, accessories, and sporting goods. Again, many of these warehouses really contain dismal choices for these products, if any at all. There is no way you could build a large business using National Dropshippers or continually add inventory in a given category, since there aren't many options.
6 membership plans after 7-day free trial
National Dropshippers boasts that there is a lot of room for financial growth here since their products range from 33% to 66% below MSRP. You can view the list prices of the products displayed through National Dropshippers, but you have to login to see the wholesale pricing. They offer a 7-day free trial so you can get a full overview of their site, but then you'll need to choose between these 6 membership plans:
When viewing pricing plans, no additional details about the benefits of the plan are listed. It's very vague, so we'd hate to sign up too quickly.
Old dropshipping processes
There is an interactive order form that you use to place orders with your customers' shipping address, and National Dropshippers' suppliers will ship using generic return information so that nothing is printed or sent to the customer with National Dropshippers' name tied to it. Nothing is mentioned about integrations with major platforms, and things seem so outdated here - like having to copy and paste their product images into your website or pay a small fee for them to send you product images via FTP. Or you can download product files (Microsoft Excel format) with all the descriptions, pricing, weights, image URLs, and other basic information for you to use with your listings. You can check order statuses through your account on National Dropshippers' website and they email you tracking links to send your customers. There is no automation here, so you'll be doing a lot of manual work.
Old customer feedback
Although the Better Business Bureau gives National Dropshippers an "A+” rating, don't get too excited. They have almost no recent customer reviews, which tells us that they're either not very active in maintaining their business or they just aren't getting many new customers. Feedback we found dates back to 2013 or as "recent” as 2018, but even these didn't have great things to say. We really aren't surprised, and lack of feedback from customers is another reason we wouldn't jump on the National Dropshippers train.
Unimpressive
Where do we begin with National Dropshippers? This company needs a major overhaul if they are going to gain any new customers. Their presentation is poor, their product selection is nothing to get excited about, and there are too many membership options to choose from that don't provide adequate details about their benefits. We are totally unimpressed with this company and see no reason to waste your time with them.
With dropshipping, you can expand your product lines regularly without having to carry so much of the overhead cost. You can add new products to your shop within minutes and stop selling items that aren't doing as well. For this reason, if you're starting a new business or running into issues with how your current one operates, trying out a dropshipping method could be the solution for you.
It doesn't take a whole lot to become a reseller of goods through a dropshipper since you don't manage the inventory or need a warehouse to store it all. If your business is small enough, you can run it all on your own. You'll just need to set up a website, create your own brand, purchase product, promote and manage sales, and communicate back and forth with customers whenever needed. It's nice to have some financial knowledge and organization as well, but you really don't have to be an expert in any of these things. Many people run and operate their business alone with the help of a wholesale dropshipping company and are quite successful.
If you have a knack for sales and dream of working for yourself on your own schedule, becoming a dropshipping reseller will appeal to you. If you cater products to your target audience well and take advantage of different social media channels, online ads, email lists, and other means of marketing, you'll have a solid customer base. You may be able to make much more than you are at your current full-time job while not having to answer to anyone else about how you run things.

Since a myriad of things animal, vegetable or mineral can be shipped within the confines of the continental United States via ground package delivery systems, what could be sold via an online retailing business using a wholesale drop shipping supplier depends, in the final analysis, on your research.
If you can find a wholesale drop shipping supplier who carries the item that you wish to have listed in your webstore, then you could offer it for sale. Research alone will get you an answer to that question. Some wholesale drop shipping suppliers have more than a million different products in their catalogs, so there is plenty from which to choose.
An entirely different question is what will sell when offered by an online retail business using a wholesale drop shipping supplier. So the obvious answer is, you should sell what will sell. Further you should offer for sale what someone will buy from your webstore as opposed to a global retailer with a physical store within driving distance of most everyone.
Niche market goods are the best suited to the type of e-commerce in question here. Take wind chimes, whirlygigs and other stuff that plays in the breeze. You can buy them in many physical retail establishments. Most retailers will offer at least one of these with a dragonfly motif. But where would a person who collects only dragonfly wind chimes shop? If she can find your online retail business using a search engine, it could be with you.
Let's say dragonfly motif wind chimes are in fashion this year, and you offer 100 different kinds of dragonfly motif wind chimes, in all price ranges, from all over the world, then chances are, she'll be a repeat customer. So will her friends and family who are looking for the perfect birthday gift for the dragonfly wind chime collector who has everything.
But not all of her dragonfly wind chimes might be hanging from her porch. She might want a couple in the kitchen. In the physical retail store, the wind chimes are often attached to tiny devices that spin them in a breezeless environment. Those little devices are not offered for sale in the store, but could be part of your online retail business's offerings. The same goes for hooks, angles, invisible filament, replacement parts, even remote controls and timers to make the rotating devices operate only when she wants them to whirl.
Wind chimes will probably never go out of style, but dragonfly ones may become passe. As an online retailer using a wholesale drop shipping supplier, you don't have a warehouse filled with a style that might never tinkle in the breeze unless it is the home of the serious collector. Research by you may or may not reveal whether hummingbird or bumblebee motif wind chimes are the next big thing. But by browsing your wholesale drop ship supplier's catalog you might find a line a wind chimes that coordinates with the hottest new color of house trim paint and another product line in your wind chime online retail business could bring coin to tinkle in your pocket.
