On the Best Wig Outlet website

A pioneer in the online wigs industry, Best Wig Outlet offers the most brands of wigs and number of styles to choose from. As a result, they offer the best children's selection we've seen. With affordable options and inexpensive standard shipping, they offer a solid option for online wig shopping. Wigs may be returned and prices can be matched, but mixed customer reviews are a slight problem. While not landing among our top 3 wig stores, Best Wig Outlet still deserves a look.

On the Fortune website

For those looking for a high-end wig styled as they wish, Fortune is the company to consider. Offering only three types of Remy human hair women's wigs in five different lengths, customers are not overwhelmed with options on this website. As the name implies, these wigs are not cheap, and they must be styled prior to wearing, but the first styling is included in the purchase price. The lack of reviews given the length of time the company has been in business and limited selection keep Fortune ranked in the middle of our list.

On the Beauty Trends website

BeautyTrends offers house brand wigs and top name brands in over 200 styles, mostly for women. Budget-friendly pieces and high-end options make up this mix, which even includes a mystery box option. With a Color Ring Rental option, BeautyTrends is committed to helping you get the color you want for your wig. However, with a small number of reviews for a company that's been around over 30 years, we rate this company as just average.

Offering custom products for women and men, as well as current styles, UniWigs sells unique wig options created in their own Chinese factory. Where Can You Buy the Best Wigs Online?

Across human history, people have worn wigs for countless reasons. From covering up hair loss to providing an indication of wealth and knowledge, wigs have served numerous purposes for those who had the money to purchase them. In Ancient Egypt, wigs were worn for religious purposes, while many of the Founding Fathers donned them for social reasons.

In today's culture, many celebrities are turning to alternative hair as an option to create a desired look. For example, superstars like Beyonce, the Kardashians, and Lady Gaga have been known to don dramatically different hair colors and lengths, depending on the occasion, and both Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande have turned to wigs and hair extensions to create their iconic looks. Alternatively, some celebs have used wigs to protect themselves from hair damage, including Keira Knightley and Tyra Banks. They prove that wigs can offer a safe and easy way to change your hairstyle without incurring the permanent change that a haircut or color can take weeks, months, or years to recover from.

Less trendy but equally important, hair loss often leads a person to shop for a wig. Men, women, and children who suffer from hair loss for medical reasons such as cancer treatments, autoimmune conditions, and alopecia, as well as those with thinning hair or receding hairlines can benefit from wigs, toupees, halos, bangs attachments, hair toppers, and other head coverings. This can result in helping a person feel better about his or her look, boost confidence, and improve overall wellbeing and quality of life.

Once you know you want a wig, where do you find one to meet your personal needs? While you could hope to find a specialty store near you, shopping for a wig online has never been easier. Looking at the hundreds or thousands of options in the comfort and privacy of your own home provides an easy way to change your look, preserve your hair, or disguise hair loss.

It's important to find a trustworthy company to provide a high-quality hair piece. We suggest looking at these top factors in an online wig shop:

We at Top Consumer Reviews have evaluated and ranked the most popular online wig stores so that you can make a financially sound choice - one that also helps you look your best for any special occasion or your everyday life.

Wig Store FAQ

What are wigs usually purchased for?
Wigs might be purchased as an alternative way to easily style your hair, to cover up baldness or hair loss, or even to use for a costume. While most wigs are purchased by and for women, there are options for men and children as well.
What is a medical wig?
Medical wigs don't differ much from normal human-hair wigs. They are meant for people experiencing hair loss from alopecia, chemotherapy, or other illness. They often include a cap and base that are specifically made for a sensitive scalp.
What materials are wigs made of?
Wigs are made of either synthetic material or human hair. Synthetic wigs are made of plastic or acrylic fibers that look like hair. Human hair wigs are made from literal human hair, usually sold or donated by women in other countries who either need a way to make some extra income or who have shaved it off as part of a religious ceremony.
How do I know if a wig I see online will fit me?
It is best to measure the circumference of your head so you can accurately use size guides that different retailers provide. Some come with sizing as general as "adult man", "youth girl", etc. so these types of wigs will usually have some type of adjustable feature to make sure it fits snugly on your head.
How do wigs attach to your head?
Most wigs have an adjustable velcro strap that allows you to comfortably place your wig to fit your head size and shape. Others come attached to a cap that fits tightly on your head. Most wig retailers also sell adhesive bands or clips that can be used to keep your wig in place.
How much do wigs cost?
You can expect to pay anywhere from $20 - $2,000 for a wig. The biggest factor in pricing is whether your wig is made of synthetic or human hair. Synthetic wigs look less natural and cost much less to make, therefore making them cheaper. Human hair wigs are usually at least a few hundred dollars and make it harder to tell whether you're wearing a wig or your natural hair.
How do you wash a wig?
If you have a synthetic wig, you'll need to purchase wig shampoo and conditioner. Mix the wig shampoo with cool water and dip the wig up and down in the mixture. Carefully rinse the wig in cool water and repeat the process with the wig conditioner. Rinse again and then pat dry and hang the wig loosely to dry at room temperature. With a human hair wig, you can apply a small amount of mild, high-quality shampoo to the hair (avoiding the scalp area) and carefully comb it in a downwards motion. Avoid scrubbing, twisting, or massaging the shampoo into the wig. For drying, first pat the wig with a towel to soak up as much of the water as possible, and then hang dry the wig on a wig stand or with a blow dryer on your head if you are in a hurry.
What if I decide I don't like my wig when it arrives?
Most wig retailers have a return policy that allows customers to send back their product if they are unsatisfied. Oftentimes these returns come with a restocking fee, so be sure to read the return details for a wig from whatever company you choose to buy from.
