Blinds Galore is a family-owned business that wants to help you get designer-quality window coverings, but at prices you can afford. Whether you're looking for blinds, shades, draperies, or shutters, you'll probably find it here. Their available brands include Bali, Levolor, Good Housekeeping, and Kellie Clements, along with their in-house brand.
You can easily get free samples, and Blinds Galore is the only store we found that offers two options: either get their Top 10 Favorites (including wood and faux wood, cellular shades, roman shades, and more), or choose up to 15 of the products that interest you. We recommend you choose the Top 10 if you're very new to buying blinds, so that you can see exactly what each kind is like. But, if you already have a good idea of what you want and you're just trying to make those final decisions about color or texture, you'd probably want to select your own samples.
Shopping the site is about as easy as it gets. You can go directly to the types of window treatments you need, the brands you love, or even browse by desired features, target room, or even your purpose (like blocking light or improved temperature control).
Once you've selected a product you want, you'll be taken through a numbered set of choices ranging from size and color to lift options and decorative accents if available. Each choice has a green question mark icon: click on it if you're not sure what you're being asked to choose and want a quick summary or, go to the "Learn more about" link if you need more detailed explanations.

If you're really not sure you can measure and install on your own, Blinds Galore can recommend an installer that has been pre-screened and is licensed and insured, through Nationwide Blind Installation (NBI). Your measurements and installation are guaranteed by NBI, if you want that extra peace of mind.
Blinds Galore has prices that are very competitive. On our comparison product, the Levolor Visions 2" Faux Wood Blinds, they came in almost $10 less than other stores, and just $2 more than the lowest-priced retailer. If you find that your window blinds are selling for less on another site after you order, you have 15 days to request a refund of the difference.
They also offer the same shipping as most blinds stores: free shipping on all orders up to 94" wide and within the continental United States. Oversized items will incur a charge of $70 for delivery. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, you'll pay $30 in shipping for a regular order, plus an oversize fee of $75 if it's over 94".
Another feature we loved is Blinds Galore's guarantee: "love it or exchange it for free". This covers almost everything: Did you measure wrong? Get the wrong color? Don't like the way your vertical blinds hang? It's all covered: exchange it for the same product or a new one within 30 days, no questions asked. You do have to pay for the return shipping costs, and they limit this to 4 window coverings per household.
As with most retailers of window treatments, Blinds Galore has some customer complaints. Fortunately, most of the reasons for those complaints are covered by the store guarantee, making it easy to get problems fixed. This retailer had an "A+" with the Better Business Bureau at the time of our review, and an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars across nearly 1,000 customer ratings.
Blinds Galore offers everything you could want in a window blinds retailer: a fantastic selection of brands, affordable pricing, excellent guarantees and a wide range of tools and helps if you need them. They earn our highest recommendation among stores that sell window blinds and other window treatments.
Select Blinds was created in 2003 with the purpose of offering custom window shades and blinds at prices that the average consumer could afford. Promoted by big names like HGTV and the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show, this company is accomplishing what they set out to do: for more than 200,000 customers and counting.
You'll find an extremely easy shopping process on the Select Blinds site. Browse the category images on the main page or use the top navigation to go directly to what you need: Blinds, Shades, Shutters, Motorized options, or shop by room or need (like Best for Kids or Water Resistant).
Then, use the side navigation to refine your options by color, price, production time, options/features, and much more. You'll quickly see which products meet your criteria, and most have thousands of customer reviews to give you an idea of how well they work when they're actually installed.
Each product has a wealth of information, from images and videos to detailed measurement and installation guidance. Select Blinds is one of the only companies to offer extended warranty options, too:
Compared with other stores that sell in-house brands of window blinds, Select Blinds' prices are about average. Shipping is free; we didn't see the usual exclusion for products measuring more than 94", so we reached out to their customer service department via live chat. It took a few minutes, but we eventually got a very helpful person who confirmed that yes, shipping is complimentary on window treatments with large dimensions - no oversize charges. That could save you as much as $80, when looking at what the competition charges.
You can also order free samples of any blinds or other window treatments, especially if you're trying to match a particular color in your home. We found that Select Blinds will honor the price at the time you order your samples, so that you don't feel rushed in placing an order. You might need to contact their customer service department, to get the previous discount applied to your purchase.
What about returns? Select Blinds is equally generous: if they ship you a product that is defective or that doesn't match the measurements you sent in, they'll exchange or repair them for up to 90 days after delivery. If the mistake is on your side, you can either return them to be trimmed to the right size for a fee of $20 per window treatment or place a new order at a discount of 50% off.
You'll definitely want to use their measuring tools page, to ensure that the "oops" isn't on your part, though.
Select Blinds has one of the highest overall customer satisfaction scores we have ever seen. Not only do they have an "A+" with the Better Business Bureau, but they're one of the only businesses we've found that has hundreds of positive reviews there. Even looking at other third-party customer review sites, people have excellent things to say about this company. That doesn't mean that there are no complaints. On the contrary, the most frequent negative comment usually refers to problems with getting the right fit. But, many customers changed their reviews from negative to positive after getting a prompt, helpful, even apologetic response from Select Blinds' representatives, instead of being told "too bad" or refusing to accept responsibility for the problem.
There's only one small drawback to shopping at Select Blinds: you won't find any name brands like Levolor. Then again, when you see that you can get the same quality as a brand-name manufacturer, backed by excellent warranties and shipped for free no matter what the size, you may not mind. Select Blinds is an excellent choice for affordable, high quality window treatments.
Houston-based Blinds offers a great selection of window treatments, including blinds (shocker!), shades, draperies, and shutters. In operation for more than 20 years, this retailer enjoys accreditation and an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau.
You'll have a hard time finding a site that's easier to use or more helpful. Blinds has more than 300 videos to help you get the right window treatments for your home or office, including instructions for taking accurate measurements and installing them properly. You'll find those at the top of the page, along with a fantastic Get Help section if you have other questions or want to read/print out instructions and suggestions.
Whether you know exactly what you want or need some guidance, you'll get there quickly using that same navigation area. You can go directly to the type of window treatment you want, or you can shop by brand, feature, purpose, or room. After you've narrowed down your options to a specific category, use the filters to further sort them by brand or options. Don't forget to enter your desired dimensions too; we love that we can specify even down to the 1/8" for the perfect fit.
Once you've chosen the window treatment you want, you can see much more detailed information, including product samples for the color, stain, or material you think would look best in your home or work environment. Blinds frequently has promotions that can save you money. For instance, on the day we shopped there, we got a pop-up offering us a 15% discount for signing up for their email list, and there was a storewide discount of 35% on selected Levolor products. You may need those discounts, because Blinds is one of the higher-priced retailers we reviewed. For example, on the Levolor Visions 2" Faux Wood Blind we used as a comparison product across multiple retailers, Blinds' price was $10-$15 higher than other sites.
However, if you've already placed your order and find that a competitor is selling the same product at a lower price, you can contact Blinds within 14 days and request that they refund the price difference. We'd love to see them offer this prior to ordering, especially since their prices are often higher than other sites.
Shipping is free on most orders within the lower 48 United States. Shutters cannot be delivered to Alaska or Hawaii, and you should plan on a $30 fee if your order is 96" or greater.
One of the reasons customers choose Blinds is their SureFit Guarantee. If you make a mistake with your measurements, you can return your blinds to be remade within 30 days of delivery. You can only get one remake per item, and a total of 4 item remakes per household per lifetime, excluding mistakes made by the company.
Blinds' 100% Satisfaction Guarantee covers any other issues like style, color, or quality. This is a fantastic upgrade compared with most of the other blinds retailers we surveyed. Like the SureFit policy, you'll need to make any requests within 30 days.
Overall, customers are happy with their experience when buying window treatments from Blinds. We found some complaints about poor quality products or difficulties in getting their customer representatives to honor their SureFit and Satisfaction Guarantees, but we also found compliments describing how easy it was to get those promises fulfilled when problems came up.
Blinds continues to be a worthwhile retailer to consider when purchasing shades, blinds, or other window treatments, especially because of their guarantees.
Lowe's has been a trusted name in the home improvement industry for more than 60 years, with brick-and-mortar locations throughout the US. Buying your window blinds from this retailer gives you the ability to shop online and pick up in-store, or to make your returns locally. And, best of all, you'll get their best possible selection instead of being limited to what's on the shelves near you.
You'll find as many as 10 brands of window blinds carried by Lowe's. These include the standard names like Levolor, along with brands like IPG, allen + roth, Project Source, and MagneBlind. And shopping for your window treatments couldn't be any easier, using the left-hand options to narrow down your choices by Material, Brand, Style, Price, and so on. There were nearly 2,000 window blinds to choose from, so you'll definitely want to use those filters and not just browse at random!
Another plus with shopping at a large volume retailer is the available customer reviews. Most of the blinds have dozens of comments from customers about how the products looked in their homes, how easy or difficult they were to install, and even helpful tips for getting the right measurement. Some of the more popular blinds had 400+ customer reviews.
But, buying your blinds from a store that doesn't specialize in them can have some drawbacks. First, we didn't find as many size options at Lowe's. The dropdown boxes offered a number of sizes, but we weren't usually able to enter the actual measurements. And, speaking of measurements, Lowe's doesn't offer any tips for getting the right ones for your order, only a window treatment worksheet (that we found in the link named Blinds and Shades Buying Guide) and an installation guide PDF.
On the plus side, though, your purchase will probably be covered by Lowe's generous 90-day return policy: if you're not completely satisfied, return your order to any Lowe's store or via mail using their prepaid return label to get a refund or exchange. Their policy exceptions don't say anything about window treatments, so even if you mis-measured your windows, you should be able to return your blinds and get a refund. That's a huge advantage over most online stores that sell window treatments.
Pricing at Lowe's is about average, but with a Price Match Guarantee you can easily get the "Lowe-est" cost if you do your homework with competitor sites. Just get in touch with their customer service department via phone or online chat prior to placing your order. And, since Lowe's offers free standard shipping for most orders of $49+, you'll probably be able to skip the $7.99 delivery fee that's charged on smaller purchases.
Lowe's is a great place to shop for your window blinds. Even though they're a home improvement store that doesn't specialize in window treatments, they offer a number of perks that aren't usually matched by their more blinds-focused competition.
Blinds Express has made quite a few changes to their online store over the last few years, bringing you a much more user-friendly shopping experience.
If you know what you're looking for, type it into the search bar at the top. Or, maybe you know you want Bali, Levolor, or Norman Blinds: you'll find that in the Brand dropdown box, or under the specific category of window treatments as well. Alternately, it's just as easy to choose which type of blinds you need and go from there, ranging from traditional Vertical and Wood Blinds to Skylight Blinds and more. If you're in a hurry, be sure to look at the Quick Ship options that are delivered with 5-day shipping.
Once you've narrowed down the available window treatments by category, it's easy to filter the results by type, brand, material, opacity, production time, and popular features. This is a huge improvement to earlier versions of the Blinds Express online store.
Each product offers detailed information about how to measure and install your blinds or shades, specifications, and color options. You can order free samples, if you'd like to see how a particular color or material looks with your current decor.
When it comes to pricing, this store has some of the best rates in the industry. Looking at the Levolor Visions Faux Wood Blinds we chose as our comparison product across retailers, Blinds Express had the lowest price - no discount code or special promotion required. They also offer a Best Price Promise: if you find your blinds at a better price somewhere else, fill out the contact form on the Blinds Express website or call their toll-free number, and they will either match or beat the competitor's price.
And, if you have a great experience and submit a testimonial to their site, Blinds Express will give you a 2% discount on your next order. Of course, that means that all of the reviews on their site are positive - but we were pleased to see that reviews on independent sites also said that the shopping experience with this retailer is a good one. As a sister brand to Window Flair, this company has been in business for nearly 50 years and has an "A+" rating with the BBB.
Shipping is free on most orders under 94" in length. If your window blinds are longer than that, expect a freight fee of $75 to $80. You may also find that orders of particular brands (e.g. Norman) will incur a shipping fee; those are controlled by the manufacturer, not by Blinds Express. To avoid those delivery costs, you can always consider buying their in-house brand - which will probably save you money over name brands as well.
Blinds Express only allows returns in the case of warranty repairs. For this reason, they strongly recommend that you order free swatches, use their online measuring tools, and/or contact their customer service to get assistance over the phone prior to placing your order. Warranties are issued by the manufacturers of the blinds or window treatments you order, so terms may vary. But, if you receive defective or damaged products, Blinds Express will replace them and arrange for the return of the damaged goods at no cost to you; be sure to notify them within 30 days of delivery if this is the case.
We're pleased to see so many helpful changes to the Blinds Express site, earning this retailer a higher ranking among companies that sell Window Blinds. Because of their strong reputation and long history within the industry, Blinds Express is worth considering if you're buying shades, shutters, or blinds for your windows.
Since 1985, Star Decorating has been a premier mail order company, selling not just blinds and shades but also area rugs and more. Their "A+" rating with the BBB continues to demonstrate that they do a good job of taking care of their customers. And, they offer a decent variety of brands in their inventory: not just the bigger names like Levolor and Bali but also Coolaroo and their own StarBlinds brand.
Star Decorating has made some changes since our last review, the most helpful being the ability to order free samples. You'll find that option with each window treatment you look at; this definitely keeps this retailer competitive, since most of their competitors offer samples too. They also guarantee that they'll beat any price you find at another store; just fill out their contact form and they'll get in touch with you to offer you a better deal.
You may not need to make that request: when we shopped the site most recently, the Levolor blinds we used as a comparison product across retailers was several dollars less than the price at other stores. We needed a coupon code to get that price, but the code was shown right next to the product description. Just be sure to enter your product dimensions: the default on those Levolor window treatments was 8" by 10", not the standard 24" by 36" typically used on other sites.
As with many window blinds stores, Star Decorating offers free shipping within the contiguous United States for all blinds and shades under 94". Expect an oversize charge of $70 if your window treatments are larger than that.
This store only accepts returns due to damage or defect, but you'll have to make that claim within 5 days of delivery. Any product warranties depend on the manufacturer, and you'll be responsible for any shipping costs if you have to return your merchandise for repair.
The only change that Star Decorating hasn't made since our previous review is their website. More now than before, it looks very outdated compared with other retailers of window blinds, and we still found typos in their policies and product descriptions. We also got text-heavy pop-ups during the ordering process; we appreciate the information that they provided, but when their competitors offer images and even videos to illustrate the same details, Star Decorating seems to have fallen behind the times.
But, because of the improvements they've made, Star Decorating earns an extra half-star in our ratings, and we hope to see an improved, more user-friendly site in the near future.
American Blinds has come a long way since our last review. With a much more user-friendly website, improved customer satisfaction policies, and a call center with dozens of window decorating experts on standby, this Texas-based retailer is definitely interested in earning your business.
Looking at our base comparison window treatment - Levolor Visions 2" Faux Wood Blind - American Blinds' pricing was right in the middle, at $39.64. This price reflects a promotional discount of 35%, but customers report that AB tends to have rolling promotions year-round, so just make sure you look for the coupon code and enter it at checkout to get the lowest possible price.
Shopping the site by brand, window treatment, or feature is a breeze: just use the headings at the top of the page. You can also get design inspiration by using the Lookbook link; you'll see ideas for specific rooms in your house, decorating styles like Modern or Traditional, or even by window treatment type.
When you find the blinds you want, the product page will give you a wealth of details, from specifications and mounting requirements to estimated installment times and any child safety features you may want to know. You'll also find quick links to instructions for measuring and installation, as well as the specific care and warranty information for that product. You'll probably also see reviews about that specific window treatment - often with photos from customers, showing how it looks once it's been installed in an actual home.
Another improvement is the satisfaction guarantee: originally limited to 14 days, their policy now covers the first 30 days after delivery. You can return your product and get a suitable replacement at no extra charge; if American Blinds determines that a replacement won't solve the problem, they'll refund your money. Be aware that if you ask for a refund because of color issues, you must have received a swatch prior to your order in order to be eligible for the guarantee. Those swatches now ship for free, and they come with a discount offer of 30% on an order of $299+.
You can also take advantage of their "Love It for Less Guarantee": if you place an order and find the same product at a lower price on a competitor site within 14 days, American Blinds will refund the difference.
Shipping is free for products that are smaller than 96", and $30 for each oversized product. Unfortunately, if you live in Alaska or Hawaii, American Blinds won't ship to you at all.
American Blinds had an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau, with only a handful of registered complaints. Elsewhere, however, we found customers who said that American Blinds didn't deliver on their new-and-improved customer satisfaction policies. Some of those complaints described situations where the customers hadn't followed the policy of needing to order swatches to be eligible for a refund, which is not American Blinds' fault. Others said that their blinds were packaged poorly or delivered much later than promised.
On the other hand, we also found compliments praising the quality of the window treatments, the responsiveness of the customer service department, and lower than average prices. Several of the positive customer comments came from people who have bought from American Blinds multiple times over the years.
Because of their improvements to their online store and their customer satisfaction policies, American Blinds moves up in the rankings among retailers of blinds and other window treatments. They still have some room for improvement when it comes to delivering on their promises, but we expect to see more good things from this store in the future.
Just Blinds started as a home-based business in 1999 and has since helped more than one million customers to get blinds, shades, or shutters for their offices and homes. All of the products they sell are their own brand, so you won't find names like Norman or Bali here. But, that also means you'll find lower prices than you'd get when buying name-brand window treatments.
The site is very easy to shop: choose your category of window treatments, then your style, and customize it to meet your preferences. We like how every option is represented with an image, in case you don't understand the difference between Routed and Privacy Slats or Cord Tilt vs. Wand Tilt.
You can order up to 10 free samples to see what Just Blinds' products look like, especially if you're trying to coordinate a particular color to match existing decor. You'll also get a discount coupon with your samples, so it's definitely worth your while.
The site says that they offer free shipping on all orders. But, digging into their actual shipping policies, we found the same exclusions as most retailers of blinds: no shipping of shutters to Hawaii or Alaska, and fees for window treatments of 96" or more. But, Just Blinds' oversized item charge is just $30 per product, much less than many other stores'.
Unfortunately, that's not the only digging you might need to do when shopping with Just Blinds. One problem frequently mentioned by customers is the disclaimer that is only found in the measuring instructions: "Inside Mount Blinds will have a small deduction taken by the factory to fit inside the opening." Numerous people complained that their blinds were often short by as much as a half-inch or more, and that Just Blinds wouldn't fix the problem or offer a refund.
In fact, the only hope of getting any kind of refund or satisfaction guarantee seems to be their upgrade to a "Deluxe Warranty", which offers 30-Day Measure Protection, 30-Day Design Assurance, and a 3-year Breakage Guard. On our order of Faux Wood Blinds, that warranty would cost an extra $12. But, even with that extra warranty, you're limited to a single remake per product.
As you can see, customer experiences with Just Blinds are mixed. The company still has an "A" rating and accreditation with the Better Business Bureau, which is usually a good sign. But, most of the reviews there and elsewhere told a different story: poor responses from customer service, late deliveries, and issues with product quality. Even when the problems seem to be the retailer's fault, customers have had a very hard time getting a response other than "here's a discount on a future order" or "you can always donate them to charity". When you're spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a product, those aren't answers that lead to repeat business.
We like the added warranty options and the simple-to-use website, but when it comes to customer satisfaction, Just Blinds can't compete with the higher-ranked stores we reviewed.
If you're like many people, the thought of having to measure your windows exactly right, select the perfect window treatments, and then install them isn't a pleasant idea. That's where 3 Day Blinds comes in. All you have to do is enter your information, and a consultant will be scheduled to come to your home. This design professional will bring samples of both trendy and traditional options, take measurements, and place your order. And, when your blinds or shades are ready, you'll get professional installation - included with your purchase price.
You'll only find three brands at 3 Day Blinds: Norman, Somfy, and their in-house brand. They don't publish their pricing, so you won't know what it'll cost until you have your in-home design consultation. But, expect it to be spendy - much more so than the other stores we reviewed. But, you'll also get a solid warranty: installation is covered for a year, while fabrics/motors/remote controls are covered for 5 years and cords/ladders for 7 years.
Given that 3 Day Blinds is so well-known, how do they stack up against the competition when it comes to their reputation? On the one hand, this retailer enjoys an excellent track record with the BBB as an accredited, "A+" rated business. There are also lots of positive reviews featured prominently on the 3 Day Blinds site. But, when we sorted those reviews by one-star ratings, we found more than 75 of them - even though the site said that they had a total of 74 reviews, 95% of which were 4- or 5-star ratings. Those numbers don't add up.
Looking through those 1-star reviews and at similarly negative remarks left on other sites, we saw some common themes: poor measurements and installation, low-quality materials, deliveries that take months instead of days, and huge challenges getting a response from 3 Day Blinds customer service department when these problems arise. Since most of their customers are coming to them hoping to avoid those exact hassles, especially with measurements and installation, they should be doing a much better job.
If you're dead set on having someone else take your window measurements and install your blinds, you may still want to keep 3 Day Blinds on your radar. But, given how many customers have had problems with exactly that, it might not save you time, hassle, or money in the long run.
Blinds Chalet is based in Arizona and is an accredited, "A" rated company with the BBB, serving customers for more than 15 years. They sell a wide variety of window treatments, such as Valances, Shutters, Shades, and Blinds, including options specifically for kids' rooms and products made in the USA.
The shopping experience using the Blinds Chalet website isn't the smoothest we've seen. As we tried to comparison shop for the Levolor Visions Faux Wood style we used across the stores in our review, we were taken to a results list of comparable products. Unfortunately, when we tried to click on those products - either using the Details button or the links to the blinds themselves - we were told that no results were found.
In order to find what we were looking for, we had to start from the beginning: clicking on the Blinds heading at the top of the page, then going to the available inventory specifically for Faux Wood. From there, Blinds Chalet breaks down the options in terms of Good, Better, and Best: the higher the category, the more likely you'll get upgrades like customizable lift and tilt control locations, or stain colors that more closely imitate real wood grain. Blinds Chalet did not carry the Levolor version of blinds that we were looking for, but their comparable selections were priced roughly the same.
Shipping is free on all orders within the lower 48 United States, even on blinds with larger dimensions.
You can get free samples on a wide variety of window treatments, from traditional aluminum or wood blinds to shutters and RV window blinds/shades. If you order samples, you'll also get a promotional coupon that can be used towards your purchase if you decide to buy from Blinds Chalet.
If you're considering Blinds Chalet for your purchase, you'll absolutely want to order those free samples first. Why? Buried in their Policies page under the Return Policy is this piece of information: "We require that free samples must be obtained before ordering to qualify for the Satisfaction Guarantee." In other words, if you get your blinds and think that the quality of the materials is lacking, you won't be able to take advantage of their 30-day return policy unless you got those samples - and even then, chances are good that your request will be turned down, since Blinds Chalet only allows returns for warranty repair.
Given that we found more than a few customers who said that the blinds or shades they received were not made well - flimsy brackets, uneven stitching, and so on - this satisfaction guarantee and return policy aren't much help.
Because of their less-than-impressive website and customer-unfriendly policies, Blinds Chalet ranks the lowest of all the Blinds stores in our review. You'll get better customer service and higher-quality blinds from another retailer.
