If you've ever ordered customized checks, you're probably familiar with the Deluxe name. In business for over 100 years, Deluxe specializes in custom print work. When it comes to business cards, they seek to deliver on customer expectations through their sub-brand, PsPrint.

The PsPrint site is straightforward: upload your design or browse their templates, and choose among the available options. Your design possibilities include the following:

  • Printed Side: color front and blank back, or full color on both sides
  • Size: Standard, Slim, Square, or Mini-Square
  • Paper: 9 options, including Gloss, Matte, Linen, and Velvet
  • Corners: rounded or not
  • UV Coating
  • Quantity: ranging from 50 to 10,000

The only issue we had with the PsPrint site is the difficulty in determining pricing at a glance. Most business card services clearly display the costs of each card on the main results page and allow you to sort the cards from highest-to-lowest and vice-versa. However, with PsPrint, you have to click on each card design to see what it will cost. With at least 240 design options, it could be tedious for budget-conscious customers to figure out which style will be the most cost-effective.

From what we could tell, PsPrint's business cards start at just over $20 for a set of 250. This seemed to reflect a 60% discount in effect at the time of our review, so prices may be drastically different when you visit the site. You may be able to get additional savings by paying attention to any pop-up offers on the site. When we visited PsPrint on a Saturday, we got a special offer of a 10% discount on any order.

PsPrint also has a wide range of choices with respect to production and delivery times. Once you've selected a style of card, you can play with the drop-down boxes to see which speed fits your need and your budget. For example, when choosing 1-day turnaround for production and overnight shipping on a set of 250 cards, we were given a total price of $100. Choosing the slowest options, on the other end of the spectrum, dropped the price to just over $28 - but our order wouldn't be delivered for almost two weeks.

Although the ordering process is a little clunky compared with slicker websites, PsPrint stands out with their customer guarantees. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your business card order, you have 30 days from the date of delivery to let PsPrint know. They will either reprint part or all of your order, or they may refund the full price. They also offer a low-price guarantee: if you find a better price on a similar product elsewhere within 7 days of placing your business card order, PsPrint will refund the difference.

Overall, PsPrint is a good choice for business card printing and the company's reputation for quality service is well-established. Just be sure to keep an eye on your pricing and timing options, to make sure you get what you need.

Recently acquired by Shutterfly, TinyPrints is part of a brand group that includes Wedding Paper Divas and BL. From business cards to invitations and more, the Shutterfly group hopes to be your one-stop shop for all things custom-printed.

When it comes specifically to business cards, TinyPrints' selection is small with just 42 options. Only one design allows users to incorporate a photo, and many of the designs seem to be geared towards parents making calling cards or other childlike styles - cartoonish and simple, rather than elegant or professional.

The small range of choices does make it easy to see at a glance which design might appeal to you. You can also use the filtering options on the left-hand side of the page to further narrow down the results by theme, style, design color, and price.

How does TinyPrints compare with respect to price? Only average. On their lowest-priced, bare bones business card, regular prices are $3.09 per card for an order of just four cards, with discounts available for larger orders. At the lowest end of the price range, you'll pay $1.39 per card for orders of 151+ business cards. When we visited the site, there was a promotion of 30% off, bringing prices down to $2.16 and $0.97 per card, respectively.

On a more positive note, there was a coupon code for a 40% discount in the banner at the top of the page, which might make their pricing a little more competitive depending on the size of your order. The same banner also offered free shipping on orders of $39+.

Shipping times are also average. You'll need to create or sign into your Shutterfly or TinyPrints account in order to see specific availability timeframes for the business card you choose. On average, though, you can expect your cards to take at least 6-10 business days with the lowest-priced Economy shipping, and 3-4 business days if you opt for Rush processing (if available for the design you choose).

Unfortunately, TinyPrints' overall reputation is disappointing with respect to attention to detail, both in quality and customer service. Customer complaints include such issues as:

  • "My order was printed upside-down. TinyPrints refused to give me a refund"
  • "My purchase came weeks late"
  • "Even with expedited shipping, my business cards didn't arrive on time"

The one reason we have to hope for better service in the future is TinyPrints' acquisition by Shutterfly. We'd like to think that the quality will improve accordingly as their policies and production are brought into line with the reputation of their now-parent company.

But, at the present, we recommend you consider ordering your business cards from a more highly-rated company, until TinyPrints shows improvement.

There’s no need for them to try and remember your name and then Google you - instead, they can just pull out your card and get in touch. In other words, this “paper handshake” gives both of you a way to know instantly everything you need in order to work together.

Another big advantage to handing out a business card is making yourself familiar to your prospective customers, especially by including a photo. If you’re planning on attending large networking events, having your photo will make it more likely that you stand out and are remembered among the other business cards handed out.

Finally, business cards can be used for a variety of reasons that go beyond traditional networking. Loyalty/reward cards, gift tags, and “mommy meet-and-greet” styles are just a few of the novel ways that people are using business cards.

Best of all, there’s no need to drive all over town to find a printer for your business cards. You’ll find an amazing selection of styles all at the click of a mouse: most people buy their business cards online, taking advantage of the convenience of shopping from home, being able to upload graphics and photos, all at prices that easily rival anything that can be found at a local brick-and-mortar print shop.

When you begin the process of choosing a service for printing your business cards, you should keep several key factors in mind. These include the following:

  • Quality. Are the business cards printed on good cardstock, or are they flimsy? Does the service have a good reputation as evidenced by positive customer reviews?
  • Variety. Part of your goal in having the best business card is to stand out. Does the store carry a nice range of options, so that your card will be memorable? Options may include horizontal and vertical layouts, graphics and/or photo capabilities, and QR codes.
  • Cost. Ordering your business cards online is affordable, but some services are more expensive than others. Are there any discounts or other offers that can make your purchase even more economical?

TopConsumerReviews has reviewed and ranked the best business cards available today. We hope this information helps you choose the right business cards to help you stand out!
