Staples

STAPLES Visit Site

With one of the easiest-to-use websites in our review, industry leader Staples is an excellent choice for your business card needs. Starting on the main page, you'll find your options clearly laid out.

First, you can choose among three primary approaches: uploading a design you've already created, browse pre-made designs, or create your own design by customizing one of their layouts. Still not sure? You can browse by product type, such as raised print cards or ultra-thick styles. But, what might be more useful is to shop according to your business industry, looking at designs that are focused on Professional Services, Technology, or Health and Wellness, for example. You'll want to choose a way to narrow down the possibilities, as Staples has more than 1,000 available design templates in almost every imaginable business category.

Staples also makes it incredibly easy to know how much you'll spend on your business cards. Rather than having to click through every possible design choice, you can see their pricing chart on their main business card page. Prices start at $9.99 for 250 Basic, one-sided cards, and go up to $109.99 for 1000 Extra-Thick business cards. Ground shipping is free on all orders over $49.

One big advantage that Staples can offer is same-day service. Because they also have a significant brick-and-mortar presence, Staples provides several card designs that can be created and ordered online by 2pm and picked up in-store the same day. If you've got an urgent need for your business cards, Staples may be your best option if they have a retail location near you.

In one area, Staples came up short compared with the competition: pricing and satisfaction guarantees. In fact, we couldn't find anything on the Copy and Print page to indicate that they have any kind of policy regarding customer satisfaction when it comes to business cards, and on the main Staples site we found that Copy and Print services are specifically excluded from price matching.

Overall, Staples is a great option for business owners who may need same-day service and who live close enough to a retail location to pick up the order. Keep in mind, however, that you may not have a way of getting a refund if for some reason you are unhappy with your order.

PG Print

PG PRINT Visit Site

Based in Marietta, Georgia, PGprint is a smaller-sized print company that aims to be "correct & on time" with your business card order.

With PGprint, don't be surprised if you spend more on shipping than on the business cards themselves! For example, they offer 500 Premium business cards for $8.99 - with the lowest shipping option, ground delivery, for $11.05! Still, a total price of just around $20 for 500 business cards is well in line with their competitors. Of course, as you add options like front-and-back printing or even hard plastic instead of paper, your costs will change.

Although they're a smaller business, PGprint is large when it comes to their 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you're not completely pleased with the quality or delivery time of your order, contact PGprint's customer service department for a reprint or full refund of your order. And, PGprint is the only service in our review that offers a free design/printing consultation as part of the order process, making it even more likely that you'll be very happy with your business cards.

So, how do you get started with shopping for your business cards on the PGprint site? The interface isn't as smooth as some sites we tried. The main landing page for Business Cards defaults to an order of 500 Premium Cards, where you can either upload your design, design your own, or browse their designs. When you choose the "Browse Our Designs" option, you're taken to a page with boxes at the top for choosing themes (such as Animal & pets, Travels, and Human Resources), or you can start to scroll through assorted card images. There didn't seem to be a way to browse through card style options such as square cards or magnets, or to sort through card designs by price.

Website usability aside, PGprint has an excellent reputation within its smaller customer base. The reviews we found were almost 100% positive, praising the business for paying close attention to their customers' business needs and delivering quality products on-time. The site also references PGprint's A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, though we would have liked them to link to the BBB site as we were unable to find it ourselves.

In general, if you'd like to work with a smaller print business that has demonstrated a superb level of commitment to customer satisfaction, PGprint is a good choice for your business cards.

There’s no need for them to try and remember your name and then Google you - instead, they can just pull out your card and get in touch. In other words, this “paper handshake” gives both of you a way to know instantly everything you need in order to work together.

Another big advantage to handing out a business card is making yourself familiar to your prospective customers, especially by including a photo. If you’re planning on attending large networking events, having your photo will make it more likely that you stand out and are remembered among the other business cards handed out.

Finally, business cards can be used for a variety of reasons that go beyond traditional networking. Loyalty/reward cards, gift tags, and “mommy meet-and-greet” styles are just a few of the novel ways that people are using business cards.

Best of all, there’s no need to drive all over town to find a printer for your business cards. You’ll find an amazing selection of styles all at the click of a mouse: most people buy their business cards online, taking advantage of the convenience of shopping from home, being able to upload graphics and photos, all at prices that easily rival anything that can be found at a local brick-and-mortar print shop.

When you begin the process of choosing a service for printing your business cards, you should keep several key factors in mind. These include the following:

  • Quality. Are the business cards printed on good cardstock, or are they flimsy? Does the service have a good reputation as evidenced by positive customer reviews?
  • Variety. Part of your goal in having the best business card is to stand out. Does the store carry a nice range of options, so that your card will be memorable? Options may include horizontal and vertical layouts, graphics and/or photo capabilities, and QR codes.
  • Cost. Ordering your business cards online is affordable, but some services are more expensive than others. Are there any discounts or other offers that can make your purchase even more economical?
