Cost:

Business VoIP - $19.95/month per user unlimited national calling

Premium VoIP - $24.95/month per user for unlimited national calling and Unified Communications

Enterprise VoIP - $39.90/month per user for unlimited global calling and automated call recording

MegaPath is an Internet, phone, web collaboration, and data networking provider for small, medium, and large-sized businesses. Their business phone offering is for companies with employees who work remotely, part-time, full-time, or only occasionally. In a hyper-connected world, employees often prefer to have their own phones and laptops for convenience in merging employment and personal life situations and environments.

If your business has existing hardware and wiring to incorporate into a phone system, MegaPath says it can help. They have the ability to integrate old "analog" and PRI wiring with their systems. But if you're ready to ditch that old wiring and start with fresh infrastructure, MegaPath says they can set you up with business-class Voice over Internet Protocol hardware and software.

To top it all off, you can choose from popular, feature-loaded software with your hosted voice system, such as Salesforce, Call Center technology, VoIP faxing, and Unified Communications.

MegaPath's VoIP plans advertise an impressive array of features, including:

  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Online management portal
  • Mobile call integration and routing using one number
  • HD quality voice
  • Visual voicemail as email and faxes as PDF attachments
  • Sequential rings for up to 5 numbers in sequence
  • Auto attendant to route calls with personalized messages for up to 6 extensions
  • Audio conferencing
  • Bring-Your-Own-Device apps for iPhone and Android
  • Presence
  • Unified Communications
  • HIPAA AOC and BAA (on request)
  • Application integration
  • Web conferencing
  • Enterprise directory integration

MegaPath's site is a bit difficult to navigate in terms of finding a concise pricing table with all the VoIP plan pricing options. Eventually, a Google search with the site name included revealed a page with all the information in the expected three-column format.

Even though MegaPath has a large number of customer complaints (probably due to its relatively larger market share), it does carry the BBB A+ rating and a customer review rating of 100%. MegaPath has responded to complaints and the BBB has closed them satisfactorily whenever the customer obliged with follow-up communication. Some of the reviews were for phones but also for the Internet and data networking provisioning services they offer.

The vast majority of other online reviews were one-star ratings with lots of angry comments and complaints. It is not apparent in all cases whether VoIP services were involved. Since Yelp does not have a way for companies like MegaPath to respond to complaints, it is unknown whether any of those concerns were addressed.

Putting your faith in a cloud-based VoIP system for your business is no small matter. Consumer confidence in MegaPath seems too low to promise that you will have a satisfactory experience. For now, we recommend going with a higher-rated company.

Cost:

Mobile - $19.99 per month per user

Premium - $29.99 per month per user

Advanced - $39.99 per month per user

Vonage is a household brand name that has been in the VoIP business phone systems market for a while. The Vonage Business Cloud has many features in several categories, ranging from privacy controls, customer service workflow, personalization, expense reduction, mobility, and collaboration.

Among the features offered by Vonage are:

  • Call Announce
  • Caller ID Block
  • Call Screening
  • Call Continuity
  • Call Logs
  • Call Park
  • Admin Portal
  • Custom call Tagging
  • Follow Me
  • Call Flip
  • "Never Miss A Call"
  • Visual Voicemail
  • Call Group
  • Call Monitoring
  • Conference Bridge

A 14-day free trial is available if you want to try them on without an obligation. But it seems difficult to believe that 14 days is long enough to receive the equipment, set it up, and get a real feel for how it works, especially if there are any major problems or delays. There are enough Vonage competitors offering 30-day money-back guarantees to make a 14-day trials seem stingy by comparison.

Even though Vonage has an impressive feature set and has been around a long time, because of its time in the market, one would expect better customer experiences in the majority of reviews. Judging by the rather numerous and negative reviews encountered on the Better Business Bureau and other reviews sites, it appears that Vonage is a company ready for disruption by higher-rated competitors.

Continued from above

The business phone services we review provide local and toll-free phone numbers, route calls to multiple phone numbers at once, or send them in a predetermined order. Also, if you use a web-centric phone and fax system, all of your communications tasks can happen while you're mobile. You can block calls, monitor call activity, and retrieve messages and faxes wherever you are.

Business phone system companies like these offer online controls to boost productivity and streamline operations. They include tools such as one-touch dialing, fax-to-email and voicemail-to-email services, call recording, message archives, detailed call logs, and internet faxing. Should your team members be situated across the city, the state, the country, or internationally, cloud-based phone and fax systems can connect your entire workforce.

In the event that you don't have a large business presence in need of a phone system to match it, you can still find services that will help you on a smaller scale. You may only need a single toll-free number with call-forwarding capability where your calls are routed to existing phone numbers of your choice, wherever you are in the world. You can use the caller ID function to figure out whether a forwarded call is for business or personal reasons.

Here are some factors to look at when considering which business phone system to purchase:

  • Features. Do the business phone system features meet your needs? Is there flexibility to expand the system as your business grows?
  • Ease of Use. How easy is it to navigate the business phone company website? Is it simple to choose the right phone system for your needs?
  • Pricing. How much does the business phone system cost? How does it stack up to competitor prices?

TopConsumerReviews.com has ranked and reviewed the best business phone systems available today. We hope this information helps you find the right business phone system for your needs!
