Cost:

Starting at $21.99 per month, plus up to $8.99 shipping

TopConsumerReviews.com Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award Featured on NBC, FOX, and People Magazine, Candy Club excels in "bringing the candy store to your door...delivering a box of happiness all year round".

Membership Overview:

  • Candy Club Selection: 1 box with 3 candy cups and assorted loose candies; upgrades available for 4, 5, and 6 total candy cups
  • Duration: Monthly, 6, or 12 months
  • Frequency: Monthly
  • Shipping: $8.99 per shipment

Each shipment has 3 cups of candy, along with assorted loose candies like taffy or hard candies in a "splash" around the box. Candy Club is the only membership plan we found that is truly customizable - what they call "smart curation". After you place your order, you'll take a quiz to help Candy Club know exactly what kinds of treats you'd most like to receive. Don't like their suggestions? No problem! You can see their full selection and build the box you'd love to get.

If 3 cups of candy just isn't enough for you, you'll find your upgrade options as you start the order process: add an extra candy cup for $7.99 per month, 2 extra cups for $13.98/month, or 3 extra cups for $17.97 per month.

Want to save some money? Candy Club does offer a discount for prepayment. For example, on a 12-month subscription, prepayment gave us free flat-rate shipping, saving us the $8.99/month shipping costs. When we visited the site, we also found a pop-up offer of a $15 discount on our first order if we entered our email.

Candy Club is also the only subscription in our review to offer member rewards. The Sweet Rewards program is accessible through your member dashboard once you've created an account; the more candy you buy, the more rewards you get. Additional points are earned by rating the candies you receive and by sharing your experience with Candy Club on social media. Once you've reached a total of 3000 points, you can redeem them for a free cup of candy included in your next shipment.

Gift-giving is also easy: click the "Give a Gift" button at the top of the page, choose a plan, and you'll be able to enter a gift message along with your recipient's information.

If you're buying for yourself, there is one important detail to note: all plans renew automatically. If you don't want your subscription to extend beyond the initial plan, you'll need to contact Candy Club in advance. This automatic renewal does not apply to gift subscriptions, so if you're worried that you might not remember to cancel your membership, it might be a good idea to give it to yourself as a gift!

Candy Club offers a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, which we love. Whether you got a shipment that just wasn't good, or you want to cancel the remaining months of your subscription, they're willing to help. Simply contact their customer service team via email, toll-free number or live chat and they'll get your refund processed. In all of the customer reviews we saw, the Candy Club representatives were extremely responsive to both compliments and complaints - it's obvious that they genuinely care about their customers' experience and want it to be as close to perfect as possible.

Delicious treats, cute packages, and excellent customer service all combine to make Candy Club our favorite choice for monthly candy subscriptions. We're confident that your experience will be equally sweet.

Sweet Palace

SWEET PALACE Visit Site

Cost:

Starting at $21.25 per month

If you love hand-crafted candy, the Sweet Palace will definitely appeal to you. Located in Montana, this retailer offers 50 kinds of fudge, 72 flavors of saltwater taffy, 20 types of caramels and many other kinds of candy - many of which are included in their Candy of the Month Club.

Unlike most of the Candy Clubs in our review, the Sweet Palace lets you see exactly what they ship each month. Right on their main club page, they list what to expect with each month: chocolates in January, baby "Turtles" in February, and so on. Each month includes one pound of candy, and the club costs just under $22 per shipment. Is that a good deal? That depends. For some, $20 for a pound of candy may seem expensive, especially for easy-to-find candies like salt water taffy and filled strawberry hard candies. For others, knowing that they're getting freshly-made-in-store treats that aren't overly processed, packaged, or sitting on a shelf for months may make the Candy of the Month Club worth the price.

You do have the option to select the month you'd like to start the shipments, but there's no option during the signup process to select any delivery schedule other than every month for 6 months or for a year. If you'd need that as an option, we recommend that you contact the Sweet Palace directly: as a small mom-and-pop business, they may be able to work with you to make modifications.

Membership Overview:

  • Candy Club Selection: 1 club with a variety of handmade candies
  • Duration: 6 or 12 months
  • Frequency: Monthly or Quarterly
  • Shipping: Included in the cost

In order to find out how much shipping would be, we did have to create an account and enter our information. We were a little confused: it said "Free Shipping! (No Delivery Charge)" but then charged us an extra 50 cents. But, there was no actual shipping charge beyond that, and less than a dollar for 6 or 12 shipments is a pretty good deal. It's just not free!

While customer reviews of the Candy of the Month Club were hard to come by, we were pleased to see that the Sweet Palace has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, with no registered customer complaints. For a business that has been in operation for almost 20 years, that's no small feat.

The Candy of the Month Club is a good choice for people who want to know exactly what they'll be getting with each shipment and who like knowing that their sweets are hand-crafted in the US. Just be aware that many of the candies sent are likely available in local stores, and that $20+ for a pound of candy might seem a little spendy.

Continued from above

Gummies, hard candies, chocolates and international snacks are just a few of the candies that your gift recipient might see in a candy box, bringing them joy over the course of a few months or a year, depending on the length of the subscription you choose. That's a much “sweeter” gift than flowers that will die in a week or an engraved pen that will eventually get lost in a desk drawer.

Of course, not all candy clubs are created equal. You'll want to carefully consider the features of each club as you decide which one is right for you. A few of the most important aspects of candy club memberships include the following:

  • Reputation. Does the company have lots of reviews, with most or all of them being positive? Do they offer a satisfaction guarantee?
  • Selection. What does your candy box include? Does it have the variety of candies you prefer? Are there several options to choose from?
  • Price. How much will your subscription cost? Are there discounts for paying in advance or for subscribing for more months? Does shipping cost extra or is it included?
  • Flexibility. Are there different membership lengths? Can you put your shipments on hold if you or your recipient will be away from home?
