Sweet Palace

Starting at $21.25 per month

If you love hand-crafted candy, the Sweet Palace will definitely appeal to you. Located in Montana, this retailer offers 50 kinds of fudge, 72 flavors of saltwater taffy, 20 types of caramels and many other kinds of candy - many of which are included in their Candy of the Month Club.

Unlike most of the Candy Clubs in our review, the Sweet Palace lets you see exactly what they ship each month. Right on their main club page, they list what to expect with each month: chocolates in January, baby "Turtles" in February, and so on. Each month includes one pound of candy, and the club costs just under $22 per shipment. Is that a good deal? That depends. For some, $20 for a pound of candy may seem expensive, especially for easy-to-find candies like salt water taffy and filled strawberry hard candies. For others, knowing that they're getting freshly-made-in-store treats that aren't overly processed, packaged, or sitting on a shelf for months may make the Candy of the Month Club worth the price.

You do have the option to select the month you'd like to start the shipments, but there's no option during the signup process to select any delivery schedule other than every month for 6 months or for a year. If you'd need that as an option, we recommend that you contact the Sweet Palace directly: as a small mom-and-pop business, they may be able to work with you to make modifications.

Membership Overview:

  • Candy Club Selection: 1 club with a variety of handmade candies
  • Duration: 6 or 12 months
  • Frequency: Monthly or Quarterly
  • Shipping: Included in the cost

In order to find out how much shipping would be, we did have to create an account and enter our information. We were a little confused: it said "Free Shipping! (No Delivery Charge)" but then charged us an extra 50 cents. But, there was no actual shipping charge beyond that, and less than a dollar for 6 or 12 shipments is a pretty good deal. It's just not free!

While customer reviews of the Candy of the Month Club were hard to come by, we were pleased to see that the Sweet Palace has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, with no registered customer complaints. For a business that has been in operation for almost 20 years, that's no small feat.

The Candy of the Month Club is a good choice for people who want to know exactly what they'll be getting with each shipment and who like knowing that their sweets are hand-crafted in the US. Just be aware that many of the candies sent are likely available in local stores, and that $20+ for a pound of candy might seem a little spendy.

Starting at $9.60 per month

Bocandy specializes in international treats. You may already be familiar with some of the brands they include in their monthly candy box: Haribo, Pocky, Kinder, and Marabou, for example.

Membership Overview:

  • Candy Club Selection: 4 different box options, focusing on international treats
  • Duration: 3, 6, 12 months or month-to-month
  • Frequency: Monthly
  • Shipping: $4.99 per shipment

There are four candy box options to choose from at Bocandy:

  • Bocandy Big Box: a selection of snacks and candies from around the world, including the US
  • International Candy Taste Box: candies from around the world
  • Asian Snack Box: focuses on Japanese, Thai, Indonesian and Korean treats
  • Premium Box: "the best of the best" and the largest box Bocandy offers, it also includes a craft beverage each month

Here's where we got confused, however. When we clicked on the "Subscribe" button for the International Candy Taste Box, we were taken to a page that showed four different options instead: Bocandy Big Snack Box, Asian Candy, Bocandy Starter Box, and Craft Beef Jerky. As you can see, these don't line up with the boxes they're advertising on the main page.

We're not sure how active the Bocandy business actually is. When we visited the site for the first time, there was an offer to enter our email to win a free year of candy - but the date for the drawing was nearly 10 months earlier, making it look like the page hadn't been updated for a very long time. Hoping to get a different impression by visiting Bocandy's social media pages, we tried clicking on the links at the bottom of the site for their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram - which all resulted in "Not Found" errors. Even their blog was completely non-existent. Not the sweet experience we were expecting!

Making matters worse, we found in Bocandy's FAQ that they offer absolutely no satisfaction guarantee. Even if you cancel your subscription, you get zero money back for any unused portion of your membership. Talk about "buyer beware"!

We found very few customers with anything to say about Bocandy, but the few we did find said that they had issues - with incorrect charges, with contacting customer service, and with the boxes themselves. One reviewer said that everything in their box tasted stale, and that they could have gotten the individual items for much less money at their local store.

In short, Bocandy doesn't inspire much confidence. We strongly recommend that you try one of the higher-ranked Candy Clubs in our review for your delivery of monthly treats.

Gummies, hard candies, chocolates and international snacks are just a few of the candies that your gift recipient might see in a candy box, bringing them joy over the course of a few months or a year, depending on the length of the subscription you choose. That's a much “sweeter” gift than flowers that will die in a week or an engraved pen that will eventually get lost in a desk drawer.

Of course, not all candy clubs are created equal. You'll want to carefully consider the features of each club as you decide which one is right for you. A few of the most important aspects of candy club memberships include the following:

  • Reputation. Does the company have lots of reviews, with most or all of them being positive? Do they offer a satisfaction guarantee?
  • Selection. What does your candy box include? Does it have the variety of candies you prefer? Are there several options to choose from?
  • Price. How much will your subscription cost? Are there discounts for paying in advance or for subscribing for more months? Does shipping cost extra or is it included?
  • Flexibility. Are there different membership lengths? Can you put your shipments on hold if you or your recipient will be away from home? has reviewed and ranked the best Candy Clubs available today. We hope these reviews help you find the best candy club membership to satisfy your sweet tooth!
