Sunshine Candy

Starting at $25.95 per month

Sunshine Candy has been offering its subscription Candy Box for several years, with a 2-3 lb. selection of traditional favorites, gummies, and sours. Every shipment is beautifully packaged, with bright colors, tissue paper, and ribbons around each candy bag.

Membership Overview:

  • Candy Club Selection: 3 lbs. of something gummy, something sour, and something classic
  • Duration: 1, 3, or 6 months
  • Frequency: Monthly
  • Shipping: Included in the cost

Sunshine Candy Box has three subscription plans: month-to-month for $29.95, 3 months prepaid for $27.95 per month, and 6 months prepaid for $25.95 per month. Shipping is free on all orders - and Sunshine Candy is one of the only Candy Club retailers we found that includes Alaska and Hawaii in their free shipping offer.

Orders are shipped twice per month; depending on when you start your membership, your order will arrive either at the beginning or the middle of each month.

Unfortunately, the only gift option Sunshine Candy seems to offer is to enter different addresses for shipping vs. billing. We couldn't find anywhere to put in a gift message if we wanted to send the candy club to a friend or colleague.

Compared with other Candy Clubs, Sunshine Candy comes up short in several other areas. First, they have no satisfaction guarantee or refund policy listed. In other words, if you prepay for a 6-month subscription to save the extra money, you may have no way of getting your money back if there's a problem with a delivery. Given that they have very few reviews online, and their social media accounts were last updated 10 months prior to our review, we were left wondering how active Sunshine Candy really is.

The biggest drawback, however, is the value of the candy compared with the cost. From what we could see, an average box would contain candies that are easily gotten at a lower price locally: for example, a bag of gummy worms, Lemonheads, gumballs, and Tootsie Rolls. One customer calculated that the total cost for those items would probably be $10 or less - so you're really paying a lot for the pretty packaging and the convenience of having candy come to you.

While we love Sunshine Candy's colorful package, the candy content falls flat. We think you'll probably have a sweeter experience buying your Candy Club membership from one of the higher-ranked retailers in our review.

Gummies, hard candies, chocolates and international snacks are just a few of the candies that your gift recipient might see in a candy box, bringing them joy over the course of a few months or a year, depending on the length of the subscription you choose. That's a much “sweeter” gift than flowers that will die in a week or an engraved pen that will eventually get lost in a desk drawer.

Of course, not all candy clubs are created equal. You'll want to carefully consider the features of each club as you decide which one is right for you. A few of the most important aspects of candy club memberships include the following:

  • Reputation. Does the company have lots of reviews, with most or all of them being positive? Do they offer a satisfaction guarantee?
  • Selection. What does your candy box include? Does it have the variety of candies you prefer? Are there several options to choose from?
  • Price. How much will your subscription cost? Are there discounts for paying in advance or for subscribing for more months? Does shipping cost extra or is it included?
  • Flexibility. Are there different membership lengths? Can you put your shipments on hold if you or your recipient will be away from home? has reviewed and ranked the best Candy Clubs available today. We hope these reviews help you find the best candy club membership to satisfy your sweet tooth!
