Cost:

Starting at $9.00 per bag

Café Britt is unique in several ways when compared to the other coffee clubs we have reviewed. First, and maybe the most distinctive feature in the entire category, they allow you to choose the exact coffee you want to receive. Yes, you read that correct - a customizable coffee club, and they have 25 different coffee selections.

They roast their own

Café Britt roasts all the coffee their club members receive, and have for over 30 years. And they roast in the country of origin with coffee grown in Costa Rica, Peru, and Columbia; three countries in one of the world's best growing regions. Finally, Café Britt offers bags in bulk; 3, 5, or 7 bags per month. So you get a lot of coffee!

Unfortunately, Café Britt isn't perfect in every aspect. Though the per bag cost is cheaper than other clubs, club members must order at least 3 bags per month for a minimum of 3 months, making the overall cost more expensive than most if you're only wanting a short-term membership.

Coffee Club Membership Overview

  • Selection: Company roasted coffee from Costa Rica, Peru, and Columbia – 8.8 oz and 12 oz bags
  • Duration: 3-month, 6-month, 12 months
  • Frequency: Monthly
  • Shipping: Free

Café Britt has three levels of membership for different types of coffee drinkers: the Explorer – 3-month membership, the Enthusiast – 6-month membership, and the Expert – 12-month membership. Each level allows members to choose 3, 5, or 7 bags of whole bean or ground coffee per month.

Deeper dive

Here is a deeper overview and cost breakdown of the levels:

  • Explorer, the shortest commitment – 3-month membership. 3 bags at $12.95 each = $38.85/month, 5 bags at $11.00 each = $55.00/mo, 7 bags at $10.00 each = $70.00/mo
  • Enthusiast, for experienced coffee drinkers – 6-month membership. 3 bags at $12.00 each = $36.00/month, 5 bags at $10.50 each = $52.50/mo, 7 bags at $9.50 each = $66.50/mo
  • Expert, if you hate running out of coffee – 12-month membership. 3 bags at $11.50 each = $34.50/month, 5 bags at $10.00 each = $50.00/mo, 7 bags at $9.00 each = $63.00/mo

Café Britt will replace, refund, credit, or offer a comparable option if you have issues with their coffee selections. Their customer's 100% satisfaction is a priority. Along with their monthly coffee selections, Café Britt coffee club members receive a coffee brewing kit.

Unique club

A coffee club that lets you choose the coffee? A great option for coffee lovers. With 25 bags to choose from, any coffee drinker can find their new favorite. We like the uniqueness of Café Britt and the fact that they are an onsite roaster and the distributor. We would like to see a monthly club option allowing for fewer bags. This would result in a lower, more entry level, price point. Without it they still rank very high in our review, with it they may lead the category.

Cost:

$17.99 to $19.99 / month

For more than 20 years iGourmet has offered gourmet foods clubs, helping "food lovers discover the world of specialty items that exist" outside their local area. The Coffee of the Month club from iGourmet fits this mission by giving its members access to beans from countries across the world and in a wide range of roasts.

Coffee Club Membership Overview

  • Selection: One 12-16 oz bag from around the world
  • Duration: 3-month, 6-month, 12 months
  • Frequency: Monthly
  • Shipping: Free

With each delivery of one 12-16 oz bag of whole bean coffee members will also receive a detailed newsletter which explains the finer points of that month's coffee selection. Including roasting technique, info on the beans in the bag, style of roast, and region the coffee was grown. You'll also learn optimal brewing procedures for each month's shipment. With iGourmet you will experience a range of single-variety coffees and regional blends in an array of roasts.

Coffee Club options

The iGourmet Coffee Club membership choices include:

  • 3-month plan - $59.99 ($19.99/month)
  • 6-month plan - $119.98 ($19.99/month)
  • 12-month plan - $215.99 (17.99/month, save 10%)

We think iGourmet offers a coffee club that delivers quality coffee. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and free shipping. The only problem is a lack of options; their Coffee of the Month club is too narrowly focused on a certain kind of coffee drinker. They offer no option for those who want ground coffee, those who would like a specific roast month after month, or anyone looking for shipments other than monthly. Because of these factors iGourmet is rated lower than competitors with more customer friendly options.

Continued from above

If you're just stepping away from the same old coffee, day after day, you may not yet know the perfect style for you. Or perhaps you already know you're into subtle fruit or chocolate notes, a medium bodied and balanced blend, or a brew with a sweet, mellow acidity. In any case, we believe the best way to feed your cravings or find your favorite coffee, while exploring the world's great coffee options, is with a coffee club.

While there may be a handful of products in your neighborhood grocery store, these brands barely scratch the surface of what the market has to offer. From Central America, South America, and Hawaii to Africa and Southeast Asia, quality coffee growing regions are spread across the world: each with unique characteristics and flavor profiles. And around the globe the best coffee roasters turn an abundance of beans into seemingly endless varieties. These choices are what the best coffee clubs offer.

With consumers wanting choices and so many great roasters to choose from, it's not surprising that coffee clubs have become more and more popular over the past few years. Equally unsurprising is the fact that coffee club features vary almost as much as the coffee itself. Do your research to select the perfect club for you. Some points to consider are:

  • Price. What is the subscription cost and will you need to pay for shipping? Does the club offer any discounts for longer memberships?
  • Frequency. How often will a shipment be sent? Do you have choices or is there only one option? Can you cancel any time?
  • Flexibility. Are there different subscription types? Can you choose your roast, bag size, or grind?
  • Selection. What comes in each shipment? Is it the same style of coffee each time or are you able to try other styles/roasts?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Coffee Clubs available today. We hope these reviews help you find the right Coffee Club membership to suit your needs!
