Colonix vs Perfect Cleanse

Best Colon Cleansers

To help you find the Best Colon Cleanse, TopConsumerReviews.com provides you with an in-depth comparison of Colonix and Perfect Cleanse.

Which Colon Cleanse product is right for you? That depends on your symptoms, because there are different cleanses designed to treat various conditions. For example, are you dealing with constipation? Be sure to choose a Colon Cleanse that functions primarily as a laxative. On the other hand, if you're trying to get rid of intestinal parasites, you'll want a cleanse that targets that issue.

Or, you may be looking to detoxify your body or supercharge your weight loss efforts. You guessed it: they make Colon Cleanse products for that, too. Whichever type of Colon Cleanse you need, you'll typically find that today's products use herbs and other natural ingredients to alleviate gas/constipation/bloating, decrease the symptoms of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and restore the healthy balance of good bacteria.

Cost:

$85

The Colonix program is a three-part detoxifying system offered by Dr Natura, a well-established company that uses all-natural, plant-derived ingredients whenever possible, with minimal processing to provide optimal nutritional benefits.

Designed to work synergistically to deliver the ultimate detoxification results, the three products included in the Colonix cleansing kit are:

  • Colonix daily fiber: mixed with water or juice, this acts like a sponge as it passes through the GI tract, attaching to any build-up on the crevices and walls of the colon. Ingredients include psyllium husk, flax seed, fennel seed, papaya fruit, grapefruit pectin, slippery elm bark, marshmallow root, rhubarb root, guar gum, alfalfa leaf, peppermint leaf, Uva Ursi leaf, stevia leaf extract, licorice root, and aloe vera gel concentrate.
  • Paranil herbal supplement helps to detoxify the liver. Ingredients include a proprietary blend of milk thistle seed extract, black walnut hulls, grapefruit seed extract, clove bud, Pau d'arco bark, pumpkin seed, myrrh gum, turmeric root, garlic bulb, hyssop, gentian root, elecampane root, prickly ash bark, yellow dock root, fenugreek seed, peppermint leaf, and false unicorn root (!).
  • KleriTea herbal tea: used right before bedtime, this tea stimulates the bowels so that your body will be ready to get rid of any waste materials gathered by the fiber supplement the next day. Ingredients include senna leaf, buckthorn bark, fennel seed, chamomile flower, peppermint leaf, cinnamon bark, ginger root, milk thistle seed, rose hip fruit, Uva Ursi leaf, passion fruit, and natural citrus flavor.

Each product is also available for purchase separately, if you run out of one of the components (or just want to have extra KleriTea available after your cleanse is over, for instance).

While the regimen itself is simple - take Paranil on an empty stomach in the morning, then drink the Colonix fiber mixed with 8 oz of juice or water and then follow it with another 8oz glass of water, drink 8 glasses of pure water throughout the day, and drink KleriTea before bed for 5 days (then every other day or less often) - Dr Natura has a detailed cleansing guide and recommendations for what to eat while cleansing. You'll find links for both of those right on the main Colonix page.

In short, you should know that it's essential that you get at least 5 servings of vegetables, 2 servings of fruit, and 1-3 servings of legumes each day, along with healthy fats and grains/starches. In Dr Natura's "optional" recommendations, you'll see that you shouldn't have more than 3 servings per week of lean meats during your cleanse, and that alcohol, sweets and caffeinated beverages are listed as "the fewer you take in, the better". Can you commit to that for a 30-day cleanse?

Colonix is backed by a generous 60-day money-back guarantee. This applies even if you've already opened and used any part of your kit; just be sure to return all of the containers (empty, full, or partly-used) in order to be eligible for a full refund.

Although there weren't many reviews on the Colonix page itself, we found many positive comments from customers on third-party sites. Many users said that the three-part system helped them see major changes in their overall health, though several mentioned that the "results" can make for some interesting trips to the bathroom. We saw that several people said that the formula for Colonix has changed over the years, though, and some users didn't find the new formula as effective as the original.

But, since the entire system is covered by that excellent 60-day guarantee from a company that is "A+" rated with the BBB, we're confident that if you don't get fantastic results using the Colonix Colon Cleanse, you'll have no problem getting your money back. That alone makes this system a great option among Colon Cleanses on the market.

Cost:

$22.33 (30% off of $32.99) for a 10 day system.

Garden of Life's Perfect Cleanse is a gentle cleansing product that works to eliminate toxins from your whole body. Perfect Cleanse is a three-part 10 day system.

Your first thought when taking a cleanse might be gut health, intestinal health and removal of any blockage affecting nutrient absorption. Perfect Cleanse is a Whole Food dietary supplement to be used as whole body maintenance for optimal healthy function. "Colon," "Gut" and "Intestine" are not mentioned in the company's product literature as far as we could see, leaving us wondering if this product works the way that most traditional Colon Cleanse systems do.

Anytime a company says something along the lines of "3 Easy Steps," we are immediately skeptical. The three steps are: cleanse, capture and remove. Easy enough. Following the directions however may prove a little more complex if you have a busy lifestyle:

  • Purify capsules and water a half hour before dinner
  • Capture powder and water (or no sugar added juice) a half hour after dinner
  • Remove caplets and water at bedtime.

When do you go to bed? Most people go to bed at different times, but apparently that shouldn't matter. In the event that the directions prove too complicated, a free (!) and easy-to-follow instructional CD is included. (Are CDs used by a large part of the population anymore?)

At any rate, prepare to carry around two-thirds of the system with you if you go out to dinner a lot. The nice thing about this system is that it is free of any of the typical and trendy allergens: no nuts, soy, eggs, milk or gluten. That's good, as it is typical advice to avoid egg products and dairy for a successful cleanse. No fasting is necessary, as they claim it will not disturb your everyday activities. No need to worry about any sudden rushes to the loo either because the system contains no stimulant laxatives. (Kind of takes the fun out of a cleanse, doesn't it?)

For the calorie counter in you, the Perfect Cleanse Capture powder contains 25 calories for you to consume just after dinner. The other two components of the system have negligible calorie counts as carbs are less than a gram for each. Don't let this fool you though, this isn't a weight loss or dieting product. That brings us to the ingredient list, which is very comprehensible - none of those scratch-your-head-in-wonder type of words here. Of course, there are the usual caveats with this type of product; the Food and Drug Administration has not evaluated any of the statements and the product is not intended to be used to rectify any particular diseases.

Compared to other similar products this one is relatively inexpensive. Whatever your goals or concerns, be they diet, gut health or supplementation, this Colon Cleanse might deliver what you're looking for. But, keep in mind that even on the company site, the most recent reviews were more than a year old, so caveat emptor when it comes to Perfect Cleanse's reputation (or lack thereof).

Continued from above

You may even find that your energy levels increase and you feel less irritable. Unlike some over-the-counter Colon Cleanse products that use harsh chemicals, these products are usually all-natural and bring relief much more gently.

As you choose the right Colon Cleanse for you, keep in mind that some supplements are only meant for short-term use - particularly those that have a more drastic cleansing effect or that are designed to remove intestinal parasites. Other products are safe for longer-term use, so consider what health benefits you're trying to achieve when selecting a Colon Cleanse.

Here are several other criteria to keep in mind as you consider the various Colon Cleansing products currently available:

  • Effectiveness. Does the colon cleanse actually work? What do other users have to say about their experience with the product? Will the product you choose really accomplish what you're hoping for?
  • Ease of Use. How convenient is the colon cleanse? Should you expect to spend hours at a time in the bathroom or in the kitchen preparing to use the product?
  • Satisfaction Guarantee. Does the company back the colon cleanse with a good refund policy if it doesn't work for you?
  • Cost. Compared with similar colon cleanse products, is it priced competitively? Is it worth the money to get the results it promises?
