Since 1989, Sky Blue Credit has provided credit repair and restoration services to clients in all 50 states. They are proud to offer Best in Class Support, giving customers "a happy, stress-free experience" as they work towards true, lasting credit improvement.
Sky Blue is legendary when it comes to their costs - in a good way. First, you won't pay a dime until you complete an initial review and setup with one of their representatives. If that review shows that SkyBlue can't help you, they'll tell you so - at no cost. We found many customer reviews that confirmed that's the case; people were pleasantly stunned to get great advice with actionable items that improved their credit even though they didn't wind up paying for the service. If the review does show that Sky Blue is a good partner in your pursuit of credit repair and you choose to work with them, you'll then pay a one-time setup fee of $69. Your monthly fee - $69/month as an individual or $99/month as a couple - isn't charged until a month later.
You can also pause your membership with just a click of a button in your online portal, along with being able to cancel at any time. Best of all, Sky Blue offers the only condition-free guarantee among credit repair services: within the first 90 days of your subscription, you can cancel for any reason and get a full refund of anything you've paid up until that point.
After signing up with SkyBlue, the process of working with them is very simple:
In order to improve your credit score, Sky Blue includes an extremely comprehensive suite of services in their monthly fee, especially when compared with other credit repair services that charge twice as much for the same features. These services include:
We also recommend that you browse their helpful Education Center. You'll find a well laid-out set of resources that include tutorials on Credit Repair and Credit Scores, How-To Guides, Credit Tips, and 22 categories of Q&A. along with the Sky Blue Blog.
All of Sky Blue's recent customer reviews show that the business is doing an amazing job at helping clients repair their credit effectively and quickly for the most affordable prices in the industry. Sky Blue is the real deal, and we are pleased to award them our highest rating as the best credit repair company.
In the credit repair world, it's challenging to find a company that is not only "A+" rated but also accredited with the Better Business Bureau. Ovation Credit Services can claim that distinction with a history that covers more than four decades.
If you'd like to give Ovation a try, we recommend that you take advantage of their free credit consultation by entering your contact information on the website. One of their credit analysts will get in touch with you, to go over your credit report and answer your questions before you decide which Ovation plan will best meet your needs.
There are two different packages offered by the company:
One major difference between the two plans Ovation offers: you'll be in charge of submitting disputes on their lower-priced package. They'll guide you through the process of determining what to send and to whom, but you'll be responsible for making it happen. If you prefer that your credit repair service submit those dispute letters on your behalf, you'll want to choose the Essentials Plus package.
Need to get started sooner rather than later? You may want to opt into Ovation's "JumpStart" service: for a $25 add-on to your initial fees, you'll get your account set up on the day you start your program, along with custom dispute letters and "top priority" status. This applies to both the Essentials and Essentials Plus packages.
Also, if identity theft is a concern, Ovation offers an Identity Optimization program for an additional fee of $19.95. However, if you're already working with an identity protection service such as LifeLock, this service may duplicate what you already have in place.
Ovation goes the extra mile in trying to earn your business through discounts. You'll find any current promotions under the Credit Repair heading at the top of the page. When we checked out their services, the following offers were in place:
Ovation also has a no-risk refund policy: if they do not provide the agreed-upon services in any particular month, you can request a refund of your fees for that timeframe. Just keep in mind that they do not promise any specific results on your credit history, only that they will provide their services.
You'll find a lot of helpful information under the Credit Education tab. Ovation keeps their blog updated regularly on topics ranging from Bankruptcy to Payday Loans and much more; if you feel a little lost just browsing through the most recent posts, you can click on any of the topic categories on the right side of the page, underneath the Recent Posts header.
Best of all, the majority of Ovation's customers say that they're very satisfied with the credit repair services they got through the business. Although customers are told to expect it to take several months, even up to a year, to see significant results, some clients have seen improvements within the first month of working with Ovation. And, even the customers who registered complaints seem to have gotten timely, appropriate responses from Ovation Credit Services' representatives.
Because of their rock-solid reputation, reasonably-priced plans, ample discounts and effective service, we highly recommend considering Ovation Credit Services when determining how to repair your credit history.
At first glance, the Credit Firm website might have you thinking they're not the ideal credit repair service: there are no bells and whistles, the style of the site is somewhat outdated, and there's no up-to-the-minute blog giving you the latest information on consumer finance.
But, if you're looking for straightforward pricing - $49.99/month, with no setup fees, cancel anytime - with a company that maintains an A+ rating at the Better Business Bureau, Credit Firm could be what you want. Although you'll have to provide a credit report (or possibly pay Credit Firm to get it for you), your credit repair program is all covered by the monthly fee. Your monthly service includes the following:
According to Credit Firm, they've helped more than 60,000 clients to improve their credit scores in the last 15 years. We found many positive reviews from some of those customers; comments often mention how much they appreciate the simple, affordable pricing, and that the services offered are effective in improving their credit scores.
Other than updating their website, Credit Firm could rank higher among credit repair companies by offering a satisfaction guarantee. While $49/month is affordable and the service is easy to cancel, this provider could take it a step further by letting customers know that they're committed to achieving a specific level of results within a given timeframe.
Overall, however, Credit Firm does a good job of repairing customers' credit scores for a price they can afford. They should definitely be on your list of providers to consider if you want simple pricing and a good reputation from your credit repair service.
Credit Saint believes in credit restoration, not just repair. Their goal is to help you move forward financially through a detailed analysis of your credit history, methodical steps to challenge and dispute negative items, and rebuild good credit.
All of their programs work in a 45-day cycle. It starts when you sign up for any one of Credit Saint's packages: you'll receive 3 credit reports that you then need to fax, mail, or email to the company for analysis. From there, your results will depend on the plan you select.
Credit Saint has three creatively-named packages for their repair services:
As we browsed the site, we got a pop-up offer of a $15 discount on our initial fees if we signed up for more information.
Credit Saint offers a money-back guarantee that is above-average: if you don't see any negative items deleted from your credit history in the first 90 days of service, you are eligible to request a full refund of any fees paid. Customers should expect it to take up to two months for those deletions to start appearing in their online portal, and the terms of the guarantee require the client to send in any requested documentation or other updates in a timely fashion.
For the most part, Credit Saint's reputation is good: accreditation and an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau is strong evidence that they're helping people repair their credit in a way that is trustworthy and effective. There are also almost no negative reviews registered at the BBB for this company, which is impressive for a business that has been around for over 14 years. We found a few reviews that expressed frustration with Credit Saint's higher-than-average fees for credit repair services, but the company is very transparent with what you'll pay. We would like to see a clearer explanation of all of their services, particularly the "dispute avalanche".
Compared with most of the credit repair services currently being offered, Credit Saint is a choice you can trust to take care of your financial recovery plan.
MSI Credit Solutions has been in business for more than 10 years. Based in Texas, they take a personalized approach to helping their clients repair their credit.
You'll notice this customized focus from the very start - because even their initial fees depend on the complexity of your credit history. We suggest you take advantage of their complimentary consultation, to get a more exact figure for what MSI's services will cost you. Expect that your set-up fees will be a minimum of $30. You'll also pay a monthly fee of $98 if you're working with them as an individual, or $138 if applying for credit repair services as a couple.
Unlike some of their competitors, MSI Credit Solutions doesn't expect you to handle any of your disputes or other documents needed to manage your credit repair process. They draft all of the necessary letters and make contact with the credit bureaus, collections agencies, and other creditors on your behalf. And, as part of their credit repair process, they also help you to establish appropriate lines of credit to build your score in a positive direction while removing negative items from your credit history.
MSI is also one of very few credit repair services that puts a number to their satisfaction guarantee: they promise a minimum total credit score increase of at least 50 points, or they'll refund your initial investment fees.
Looking at MSI's "C" grade with the Better Business Bureau, you may be surprised to find them ranked where they are in our review. Here's what we found: across hundreds of independently-verified reviews on other sites, MSI proved to be extremely responsive to their customers, both those that were extremely satisfied with their credit repair results and those who gave one-star reviews. And, most of the low reviews appeared to have been written in error or maliciously, even by customers who had no record of ever being paying clients of MSI. From our vantage point, MSI Credit Solutions stands by their service, issues refunds when they can't deliver, and takes the time to personally respond to each client. You won't find that kind of mom-and-pop service with any other credit repair company we examined.
We can't ignore the BBB's assessment completely, which is why MSI gets a 3.5-star rating with us. But, all things considered, we recommend MSI Credit Solutions' repair services, especially if you like a personalized touch when dealing with a topic as sensitive as improving your credit history.
The Credit Pros advertise themselves as "a financial technology firm dedicated to improving the lives of [their] clients". They do this through helping them remove inaccurate, unverified, and/or erroneous information from their credit history and by offering education to help prevent similar mistakes going forward.
If you'd like to get a feel for what to expect from The Credit Pros, you can get a free credit score and summary, along with an action plan, by entering your name, number, and email address. You'll then be contacted for your free initial consultation. We found some customers who described that experience as frustrating, with representatives who spoke too fast and didn't take the time to answer questions - but since it's free, there's no risk for you to give it a try for yourself.
Their services are definitely not free - and are actually some of the highest in the industry. Here's what you should expect, depending on which plan you choose:
All plans include 1-on-1 consultations with a certified FICO professional, unlimited disputes, letters to creditors, and pulling your credit report. You should expect it to take up to 60 days to receive your credit report - which also means that you may not see any changes to your credit history for the first two months that you're a client. Keep that in mind as you decide whether you want to be a per-month or pay-as-you-go customer
The Credit Pros have some indicators of a good reputation: an "A+" rating as an accredited business with the BBB, along with some positive customer comments. We also like that they offer a solid satisfaction/refund policy: you can cancel your service at any time, and you can get a full refund if they don't force the removal of any errors on your credit history within the first 90 days of your service.
The Credit Pros also have a very current website. Unlike some of our lower-ranked credit repair services, this provider keeps their blog updated with helpful information and articles, which means that they stay aware of current trends in consumer credit, changes to the law, and so forth.
On the other hand, we found that their client reviews were not all positive. You pay a lot for this service, so you expect to have measurable results and competent customer service, but many of the complaints we found said that the attention received after signing on the dotted line was very different from the sales pitch beforehand. Company reps seemed to respond almost exclusively to compliments online, but we didn't see the same attention given to address problems or complaints.
The Credit Pros are more trustworthy than some credit repair services that you may consider, but their high fees and mixed reviews may lead you to choose another provider.
For many years, Lexington Law was the provider of choice for credit repair services. Why? With more than 27 years of experience and millions of negative items deleted from customers' credit histories every year, it's easy to see why people turned to them for credit repair.
We're still of the opinion that they have something to offer when it comes to credit repair, so we'll get to their packages shortly. First, however, it's important to understand two things: their fees have nearly doubled over the last five years, which could be related to having reached a settlement in Maryland over allegations of not conducting their business properly with respect to all legal requirements within the industry. This changed their grade with the Better Business Bureau; at the time of our last review, Lexington Law enjoyed a respectable "A-", but during our most current survey of their services they were designated as "Not Rated" while the BBB reevaluates their score.
Lexington Law is more expensive than many credit repair services. They have 3 tiers of service:
With what they charge, is Lexington Law effective at helping people improve their credit history? As you'd expect with such a large business, the reviews are mixed. Most credit repair services are criticized for not making noticeable improvements in less than two months, but that's to be expected. But, Lexington seems to have a higher-than-average number of people who say that they didn't get prompt responses from company reps, not just that their reports didn't improve quickly. On the other hand, we found numerous people saying that their credit scores improved dramatically as they stayed with the service, usually for six months on average.
Lexington Law's track record within the credit repair industry has helped keep them afloat, but their higher pricing and troubles with their BBB rating have dropped them to the middle of the pack compared with the competition.
The Credit People have helped more than 100,000 people to improve their credit history since 2001. Their website is attractive and laid out in a way that is simple to understand, not cluttered with an overload of images and links.
The Credit People offer a simple way to check out their services: pay an initial fee of $19, which includes your credit report (a service often not provided by credit repair services) and see what you think for the next 7 days. If you choose to continue using their credit repair plan, you'll pay a flat fee of $79 per month. The service can be cancelled at any time, and an "Unbeatable Satisfaction Guarantee" allows you to get a refund for one month's service fees (this is assuming you cancel as soon as you're unhappy, not months after the fact).
The services provided by The Credit People are as you'd expect with a credit repair service: disputes, inquiries, interventions and validations. We like that they focus their results not just on removing negative items from your credit history, but also specifically on improving your credit score - so that you can more easily qualify for a loan or be selected as a tenant for a rental. We also appreciate that their approach to working with their clients is "How can we help?" with situations like trying to get interest rates lowered or to get a referral letter, going above and beyond the issues associated with your credit report.
Digging around a little more, though, we were left with some question marks. First, several places on the site refer to a 6-month, prepaid package plan that comes with a 6-month guarantee but this isn't listed on the Pricing page. Then, we were happy to see lots of informative articles on the Credit Resource Section - but disappointed to find that the Regulations page was totally blank.
Finally, we were puzzled by The Credit People's reputation with the Better Business Bureau. Although their representatives seem to have done a great job of responding appropriately to all of the customer complaints posted on the BBB site, they still had a less-than-inspiring "C" grade at the time of our review.
From our perspective, The Credit People are trying to offer personable and effective credit repair services and have been doing that for several years - but they've got room for improvement to move up in the rankings and compete with the top companies in our review.
Credit Repair looks like an incredible service for fixing your credit history. For $99.95/month, this provider will pull your credit report and help you identify which items you want to change or challenge - building a plan with you instead of creating an arbitrary strategy without your input.
From there, Credit Repair's experts work with credit companies to implement your plan, and then they verify with the credit bureaus to make sure that those changes actually take effect. You can track your progress through your personal online dashboard and a mobile app, where you'll also see your score tracker and analysis of the changes to your credit profile.
You'll also find great resources in the Education section of the site. Want to know how bad credit affects you, or how to get your free credit report? You'll find that information here, along with an up-to-date blog, tools to help you in your financial planning, and much more.
Unfortunately, Credit Repair has lost some credibility within the industry. Why? According to the Better Business Bureau, the company was asked to prove their claims that the average customer sees progress every month while using their services - even seeing improvements in the neighborhood of 7% of questionable credit report negatives being taken off their credit reports every 30 days. As of the date of our review, the BBB was still reporting that they had not received proof of those advertising claims. Those claims are still prominently featured on the Credit Repair website.
While we did find quite a few customer reviews that said their credit scores improved reliably over time using the Credit Repair service, it's hard to recommend a business that has an "F" grade at the BBB because they didn't take the time to prove that their advertised claims were legitimate. If those facts are accurate, it should be a simple process to report them and clear up the concern at the BBB. If that happens in the future, Credit Repair will probably move up in the rankings among the services we reviewed; until then, we suggest you look at some of the higher-rated companies for your credit history improvement plan.
Credit Assistance Network is one of the few credit repair providers that offers a pay-as-you-go pricing structure. You'll make an initial payment of $179 (or $279 for a couple), which gets you access to one -on-one consultations with a certified FICO professional, debt validation/goodwill letters to creditors, cease and desist letters to collection agencies, and unlimited disputes. From there, you'll be charged for every deletion CAN is able to achieve on your account - $50 for confirmed deletions per bureau, and $70 for deletions from public records. That could add up very quickly, if you have multiple issues on your credit history.
You'll also be expected to provide your credit history to Credit Assistance Network, at your own cost; it's not included with their repair services.
Will you get effective credit repair services from Credit Assistance Network? Their reputation is puzzling. On the one hand, they've been in the industry for more than 10 years and have only positive reviews on the Better Business Bureau website - and yet, their rating with the BBB is only a mediocre "C+". We also felt misled by the CAN website, which said that their rating was a flawless "A+". Can you trust a company to repair your credit if, from the very start, they're not fully honest with their own reputation?
Or, maybe this provider doesn't update their site very frequently: at the time of our review, their most recent blog post was nearly 5 years old. But, again, should you choose a credit repair company that doesn't stay current - with new regulations affecting consumers and their credit scores? Probably not.
In this provider's FAQ, it states, "We our experts." Typos, misinformation about a BBB rating, and expensive a la carte-type pricing are all reasons for Credit Assistance Network's low ranking among businesses offering credit repair services. You'll have a much smoother, effective experience elsewhere.
Pyramid Credit Repair established itself in 2015, with the goal of "reinventing the credit repair industry". They offer two service plans: one for individuals and another for couples, but both plans include the same features:
Pyramid did not blow us away with the description of their services. Who do they contact to submit disputes? How quickly do they follow up? Which types of circumstances do they help with? Most of their competitors offer lengthy lists of exactly which types of disputes they draft and what to expect from the service; Pyramid's answers were vague at best.
Their blog wasn't much better - at the time of our review, their most recent blog post was nearly 7 months prior. Does Pyramid stay on top of legislation affecting credit repair? Who knows?
In an industry like credit repair, reputation is everything when choosing which service to use. In that regard, Pyramid comes up short. To find out their track record with the BBB, we had to find them under their alternate business name, Credit Concierge Services LLC. The BBB lists that business as "NR" (No Rating) status until more data comes in; when we found that listing, there was only one review posted and it was negative. We found just over four dozen mostly-positive reviews specifically for Pyramid around the web, but in an age where we know that customer reviews can be faked (unlike what you find on TopConsumerReviews.com!), it's hard to know which ones are truthful without trusted validation like the BBB.
We also thought it was odd that Pyramid has an entire page devoted to Shipping information - for a service they advertise as all from home and online. It gives the impression that the Pyramid Credit Repair site was built on a generic business platform - and that perhaps their credit repair services are somewhat generic too.
We got even more confused when reading through the company's return and refund policy. It talks about returning software to Pyramid - but every description of the service says that it can all be accessed online. Why would they be shipping software to their customers - and would their customers install it with no clear explanation as to what it's used for?
For all of these reasons, we can't give Pyramid Credit Repair a high rating. Until they've done a better job of establishing a good reputation and a website that makes sense, we think you'll feel more secure choosing a credit repair service with a proven history of success.
eCreditAttorney's pricing is simple: $29 per month. For that fee, your credit repair service should include addressing late payments, collections, bankruptcies, tax liens, repossessions, judgments, foreclosures, charge-offs, garnishment, even identity theft/fraud. You're expected to provide a current copy of your most recent, updated credit report; it's not included with the fees that you pay. Side note: the link provided by eCreditAttorney for their "preferred credit score provider" took us to an invalid page - not very encouraging.
This provider offers a "performance-based refund policy": after you've been a client in good standing for 6 months, you can request a full evaluation of any progress they've made in repairing your credit. For every improvement or deletion they've made, eCreditAttorney will count it as a $95 value. If the total of monthly fees you've paid exceeds the value of $95 per improved/deleted item, you'll get a refund of the difference. Do the math, because that's not a fantastic deal: at $29/month, eCreditAttorney would only have to make two improvements or deletions over the course of 6 months to demonstrate adequate "performance".
eCreditAttorney has a rock-bottom rating with the Better Business Bureau: F. According to the BBB, the provider has failed to respond to numerous customer complaints in the past three years. Customers describe getting no response from anyone at the company, even after multiple emails and phone calls, and worse - no progress on improving their credit reports after months of paying fees. Why would anyone entrust their credit repair to a company that can't even do a minimal job of keeping their customers - and the BBB - satisfied? You'll have a more positive experience with another service.
Based in Florida, Credit Repair Consultants has been working to help people improve their credit for more than a decade.
Credit Repair Consultants' fees are hefty. Expect to pay an application fee of $189 - or $309 for couples - along with a monthly service charge: $59.95 for the Standard plan, $69.96 for the Premier plan, or $89.95 for the HomePlus plan:
This provider offers a 120-day refund policy on their enrollment costs: if negative items aren't satisfactorily removed from your credit report in the first 120 days or less, you can request a full refund of the enrollment fee. However, they'll keep $45 to cover the cost of ordering your credit reports.
Credit Repair Consultants also proudly proclaims that they offer a refund policy on your monthly fees. The catch? You have to be a customer for a full 12 months before you can request an evaluation of your account; if the service has successfully removed or improved your account, you may not get a refund at all. They will claim a credit of $60 for every deleted or improved item on your credit report, and then compare it to the fees you've paid. In other words, if you've paid for 12 months at nearly $60 and they've removed or improved 12 things on your credit report, you're not entitled to anything back.
Can you count on Credit Repair Consultants to deliver? Probably not. According to the BBB, they requested documentation from the service in 2013 and 2014, to show that they were in compliance with the FTC's standards for credit repair. As of our review, the BBB still hadn't received it. We also saw that it took the company more than 6 months to respond to a customer complaint online, and that the most recent articles in the "Credit Repair News" section of the website was from nearly two years prior to our review.
Expensive and unreliable? You don't need that when you're trying to repair your credit. We strongly recommend you choose a more responsive, affordable, and reputable credit repair service in our review.
For several years, Veracity was a credit repair service that people could turn to. According to their site, they continue to offer two plans for helping you improve your credit report:
If you're thinking that it shouldn't cost $30 to pull your credit report, and then an extra $30 each month just to have your account set up more quickly, you're right! With most of the higher-ranked credit repair services in our review, it doesn't cost that much money.
The Veracity site advertises that they're accredited by the Better Business Bureau. That may have been true in the past, but at the time of our review, this credit repair service was not accredited and actually had an "F" grade. Why? Company owners Daryl F. and Wendy M. Yurek were found guilty of tax evasion and bankruptcy fraud in 2017 and sentenced to serve time in jail.
Would you entrust this business with repairing your credit? We wouldn't either. Fortunately, there are much more trustworthy credit repair services, so we encourage you to browse the higher-rated services in our review.
Best Credit Repair Companies
Who's the best credit repair company? Most Americans know that a good credit score and credit history are important. That one number, your credit score, can determine your ability to get a loan for school or for a car, be approved as a tenant, or to qualify for a credit card.
Unfortunately, when your credit history is less than fantastic - because of making payments after the due date, having too many credit inquiries, or even having mistaken information associated with your identity - you'll have fewer options when you need to make a major purchase. You may even have to pay higher than average rates on your car insurance or your mortgage.
Using a reputable credit repair company puts you back in control of your financial reputation. These services work on your behalf to reduce or eliminate any negative factors in your credit history, working directly with collection agencies, creditors, and even with the three primary credit bureaus. With the help of a credit repair company, you can improve your score and even put a stop to negative information being reported on your accounts. Most services take several months before you see measurable results on your credit report, so adjust your expectations accordingly.
With so many services advertised in the media and online, how can you tell if a credit repair company is reputable and effective? As you compare the various providers, here are several criteria to keep in mind:
TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best credit repair companies available today. We hope this information helps you find the right credit repair program that meets your needs and gets you on your way to an improved credit history!
