Blinds Galore is a family-owned company that has been in business for over 100 years, with an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. While the number of brands they carry - four - is somewhat limited, customers can still choose from a very broad range of beautiful fabrics, colors and styles. Shoppers will also find custom curtains, panels, valances, cornices and a large selection of matching hardware.
Blinds Galore's website is very easy to search for specific products or browse for ideas. Shoppers can get up to 15 free samples of fabric swatches before making a purchase decision.
Additionally, Blinds Galore offers an "ask the expert" service free of charge; if you provide them with your name, a picture of the window you're trying to cover, and a phone number, you will get a phone call within 24 hours from a professional designer who can recommend items that might suit your needs. This is a free of charge service that can be a great benefit for those attempting to achieve the perfect look.
Customers will also be happy with free shipping on all orders under 100" in width within the continental United States. Delivery times may range from 12-26 days, depending on the brand and degree of customization required.
Where Blinds Galore stands head and shoulders above the competition is its excellent return policy: if you don't love your curtains, you can exchange it for any other product with no extra charge. Even if the reason you don't love it is because you mismeasured it (oops!), their return and exchange offer stands. You can reach their customer service department via live online chat or their toll-free number seven days a week.
Customer comments both on Blinds Galore's own site and around the web indicate a very high satisfaction level with both the products and their top-notch customer service. We think Blinds Galore is worthy of our five-star rating and our highest recommendation for those looking for curtains from the convenience of their home.
Don't be confused when searching for curtains at Blinds; you'll find custom and ready-made blinds under the "Draperies" tab. Customers shopping for such window treatments can easily locate suitable products with the site's great search capabilities and the ability to sort curtains by price, color, customer ratings, even by production time if a purchase needs to be delivered quickly. Many of the curtains offer over 200 different fabrics to fit just about any design aesthetic.
Blinds offers three brands from which to choose, and there are many color choices available within each style and fabric. You can get up to 10 free samples - with free shipping - for any product you'd like to see and feel for yourself before committing to a purchase. Even better, Blinds.com provides a service known as "Face 2 Face" whereby you can have a free online consultation with a designer, to help narrow down your options to several that will best meet your needs.
Blinds has free shipping on all but its largest products, a thirty-day price guarantee, and allows customers to purchase extended warranty protection on certain products. The Blinds return policy is not as clear on the curtain and drapery side. After calling to speak to a representative we were instructed that it's 30 days for a refund and replacement if you're not fully satisfied. They do not have a money back guarantee, which is typical with curtain purchases.
We'd like for Blinds to be clearer with their return policy to warrant a higher rating. However, their A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau is definitely in its favor. If you're looking for a customer oriented company with a large selection of custom and ready-made fabrics, Blinds is worth a look.
Half Price Drapes is one of the few businesses on the market to focus solely on curtains and draperies, with an A+ rating and accreditation with the Better Business Bureau since 2011 customers can shop with ease. They have a website that is simple to use, allowing customers to search by entering specific keywords or to browse by color and/or desired design. At the time of this review, many products were on sale.
Shoppers can obtain fabric swatches to look over at home; while Half Price Drapes' main site states "free swatches", they do have a $5.99 cost for shipping. Also, for assistance, Half Price Drapes provides designers to assist with selection and measuring, free of charge.
Shipping is very expensive at Half Price Drapes, only offering free shipping on orders over $249, and rates of $5.99-$21.99 on all other orders. Delivery times range from 10 days to 5 weeks, making Half Price Drapes not an ideal choice for customers who need window treatments in a hurry.
The return policy at Half Price Drapes is a little more complicated than some companies. Ready-made curtains come with a 30 day return policy and a potential 15% restocking fee. Be careful when understanding the made to order versus custom made drapes at this website. The return policies are very different and could be confusing. One comes with a 30 day return option and the other comes with a 50% restocking fee.
For those looking for well-made custom-look drapes, Half Price Drapes provides some solid options. The return policy is a bit complicated but more generous than others. For those that know what they want, Half Price Drapes is worth a look.
As you may have heard, Wayfair prides itself on carrying "a zillion things home", and its offerings in the curtains category are broad: nearly 4,500 products from which to choose, and an extremely easy-to-use website that allows users to sort by length, color, pattern, features, price, special offers, and even unique themes. Some of their curtains have a five-star customer rating with more than 125 customer reviews.
For shoppers in a hurry, some window treatments can be delivered in as few as two days. Wayfair offers a flat fee of $4.99 on any shipment under $49, and free shipping on all other orders. Their return policy is generous at 30 days, and they give customers an automatic 3% back in in-store rewards on all purchases. The return policy is not an exchange policy, like many of the custom order companies but an actual return policy.
While we've had good luck with Wayfair in the past, we did find more than a few customer complaints related to issues with Wayfair and some of their products. Wayfair does offer many low priced products and sometimes when you pay less you get less. A good rule of thumb with shopping anywhere is that the product is super cheap you run the risk of getting what you paid for. This holds true with Wayfair's curtain selection but thankfully they offer a generous return policy should you not be satisfied with your purchase.
3 Day Blinds, as the name would suggest, specializes in getting many of its top-requested products to the customer's door in three days or less, making them the ideal choice for shoppers who need to get their curtains up quickly. Their easy-to-use website lets customers quickly browse among the 160 available fabrics and sort them by color, panel options, styles, and designs, among others. 3 Day Blinds will gladly send free samples of the pattern/fabric of your choice at no charge.
A positive with 3 Day Blinds is that they take the guess work out of measuring. Unlike other online curtain and drapery websites, 3 Day Blinds will show up at your door and assist with selection and sizing. We say this is a positive but not everyone has the time to schedule an appointment or necessarily want a salesman in the door.
All 3 Day Blinds curtains come with a warranty program that is very good: cords are covered for seven years, and fabrics for five. Also, customer satisfaction seems to vary widely depending on the interaction with their local in-home consultants; while 3 Day Blinds' site indicates a 94% average of 4-5 star reviews, other sources describe poor customer service both from the local consultants and the company's headquarters with respect to warranty repairs and other issues. This is something to keep in mind if you decide to try out 3 Day Blinds.
For those looking for a lot of help with their curtain purchase, 3 Day Blinds may be worthy of your consideration. However, the unavailable pricing information and potential for pushy salesman are a draw back.
India-based LinensNCurtains has very few products to offer with respect to curtains. At the time of this review, there were only 34 total products from which to choose, in very limited styles and colors. While LinesNCurtains talks about their customization options on bedding that does not seem to apply to curtains and draperies.
LinensNCurtains does offer free shipping on orders over $50; customers should be aware that all orders ship from India and delivery times may be delayed. They also offer a referral program to encourage customers to spread the word.
Unfortunately, contacting LinensNCurtains is possible only through a Gmail address or the site's contact form; there is no toll-free number for customer service or for returns. Their return policy only applies to flawed merchandise and may be difficult to arrange through the website alone; any returns must be shipped back to India at the customer's expense. There are no returns allowed on products that do not fit because the customer mismeasured window dimensions or simply changed his mind.
While there are some positive reviews posted in the testimonials section of the website, LinensNCurtains has very few reviews in any other location online and they have no rating or accreditation with the Better Business Bureau.
Because it offers so few options with respect to both products and customer service, LinensNCurtains fell low on our list of potential online curtain stores.
If you're looking for curtains and draperies to complete your home you may already know that the in-store selection is often very limited and buying custom can cost a fortune. We've actually known people that spent as much on draperies as they did their first home. The price can be startling.
For those looking for quality made panels, curtains and valances that look and feel expensive another option exists. People are finding that buying custom draperies online can provide a huge savings over their local decor shop or custom drapery outfit. However, the process is very similar. Find the look you want, order a sample swatch of material, compare it to your paint and overall look and place the order.
Instead of spending thousands of dollars, savvy shoppers are spending far less.A number of online companies exist that offer a huge selection of custom or ready-made curtains and panels that far exceeds anything found local. When shopping for curtains you need to remember that not all online stores are the same. Before making your next drapery purchase, consider the following:
