James Allen is an online jewelry retailer in business since 1999. This Maryland based company specializes in the ultimate diamond shopping experience. Unlike most diamond retailers, James Allen providers shoppers an actual 360 degree image of each of their diamonds available for sale. Shoppers will also like the extended return policy and A+ Better Business Bureau rating.
James Allen offers a well organized website and solid search engine but really stands out with their technology. Many people want to see the actual diamond they are purchasing before making the leap. James Allen puts the shopper at ease by providing a 360 degree image to get the best look and feel of the diamond before making the purchase. The accompanied diamond certifications also help in the process. For those that are "seeing is believing" folks, James Allen is a great place to shop.
The selection of diamonds is also impressive. For those that are new to the purchase process, they need to be aware of the diamond grading with the stone they choose. GIA is considered the elite certification company in diamond grading. A "G" colored stone by GIA standards will tend to be less colorful than those of the IGI and AGS companies. However, the actual pictures of stones will eliminate many of the customers questions and allows for a better side-by- side comparison.
We also liked the abundant selection of diamond settings. The pictures of the options are large and easy to see. We think this is very helpful for those that want to feel confident before making such an expensive purchase. James Allen allows customers to choose either the diamond or setting first and the process of putting the two together is simple.
However, if you aren't fully satisfied with your purchase, James Allen provides a generous, no-hassle 60 day return policy that customers can feel good about.
James Allen provides diamond shoppers a huge selection of diamonds to choose from. The generous, no-hassle return policy and amazing diamond pictures is very appealing. James Allen receives one of our highest rankings.
Diamond Princess is a New Jersey based online jewelry store that offers an over abundance of loose diamonds but misses the mark on a less professional website with some technical glitches. This company started in 2008 and currently holds an A Better Business Bureau rating.
Diamond Princess allows the shopper to choose from 9 different diamond shapes, the certification lab, carat size, color, cut, and clarity. Unfortunately we weren't able to further sort or refine our search. We also noticed that, from our sampling, the diamond prices were much higher than other companies reviewed and we couldn't locate an actual diamond certification for viewing. We also weren't able to set the diamond in an engagement ring which was unfortunate and wouldn't meet the needs of many diamond shoppers.
All purchases from Diamond Princess may be returned within 30 days for a full refund if not, altered, engraved or custom made.
While the selection size is huge at Diamond Princess, the search engine is lacking and the prices gave us sticker shock. We wanted to see the actual lab certification, and an option to set the diamond but couldn't find one despite our several attempts.
Diamond Princess offers one of the largest selections of diamonds but misses the mark in a few important ways. If you are in the market for a diamond we recommend you shop a higher ranked company at this time.
To help you find the Best Diamonds, TopConsumerReviews.com provides you with an in-depth comparison of James Allen and Diamond Princess.
If you've purchased a loose diamond before, you know that it's both an art and a science. Carat size, color, certification, depth, symmetry, retail mark-up, and many other factors determine the ultimate price of a diamond.
Most retail diamond stores are typically equipped to provide you with only 2 or 3 choices of stones in your desired size and price range. That means that you'll most likely have to drive between several retail locations, trying to find a diamond that you can afford and feel confident about.
While the task of finding the right diamond has traditionally been a frustrating and time-consuming process, the internet has made all this much easier. With the introduction of online diamond stores in the last few years, you now have access to thousands of diamonds, and can easily choose the color range, clarity, cut, and more that you're looking for. You can also compare several diamonds at the same time to find the best diamond at the best price.
Not all online diamond stores are the same. Before making your big diamond purchase, you should consider the following:
