JARED

Jared, founded in 1993, is a popular jewelry store chain that runs many commercials with catchy jingles. They also offer an abundant selection of diamonds via their online store. We think shoppers will like their loop technology that allows the customer to look closely at each actual diamond picture to observe the presence of flaws to the visible eye. We thought this was a great option and it seemed to work pretty well. Many say that the trick to finding a good value on a diamond is choosing one that has inclusions but that are not visible on the surface of the diamond - Jared's technology does a good job of allowing shoppers to feel comfortable with their purchase.

Features:

  • 14,524 diamonds available for purchase
  • 30 day money back return policy on non-custom jewelry
  • GIA, IGI, AGS certified diamonds
  • 250 engagement settings
  • Actual pictures
  • Diamond certification letters attached
  • A+ BBB rating

Navigating Jared's website is pretty straightforward. Shoppers may choose from 10 different stone shapes, the carat size, price, color and clarity. Additional options including narrowing the selection by polish symmetry and lab certification. The search results may be further organized in ascending or descending order based on size, price and more. Overall, the website does the trick of allowing shoppers to find what their looking for.

In our sample efforts we noticed that many of Jared's diamonds are in the 1 to 2 karat range so for those looking for something larger they may need to shopper a higher ranked company for better selection. The prices also seemed a bit heftier than some of the higher ranked companies.

However, if you're not satisfied with your purchase, Jared's offers a 30 day return option on non-custom jewelry. Please read the fine print before making a purchase.

If you love the idea of using a loop to look for noticeable inclusions than you'll love the online technology that Jared's brings to the diamond market.

CARATS DIRECT 2 U

Carats Direct 2 U is a New York based company that both manufactures and sells diamonds, tennis bracelets, earrings and more. We identified that shoppers will find clarity and color enhanced diamonds, as well as none treated options, at this website which is one way to save money on buying a stone. However, the company leaves a lot to be desired in their effort.

Features:

  • 930 diamonds available for purchase
  • 30 day money back return policy
  • GIA, EGL certified diamonds
  • No engagement settings options
  • Various simulated and actual pictures
  • No actual diamond certification report
  • No BBB rating

While shopping at Carats Direct 2 U we instantly noticed the lack of professionalism. The website appeared "cheap" and not where someone would feel confident spending thousands of dollars. The layout and navigation tools were some of the weakest in the bunch. Carats Direct 2 U does allow for the shopper to narrow their search by a price range, carat weight, clarity, color, "treatment", and shape. The diamond selection is much more limited at Carats Direct but when the results appeared we had no way of narrowing, sorting or doing anything but slowly going through each option. Shoppers should also be aware that this company offers white, blue, green, and yellow diamonds within the limited selection.

About a third of the diamonds sold at this website are treated. That may include clarity enhanced, irradiated, laser drilled treatment and more to improve the look and quality of the stone. The results in our search would combine the treated and non-treated stones but customers can find that information if they click on and scroll down the page. Unfortunately Carats Direct 2 U does not include the actual lab certification to confirm what the customer can expect. Some details are available online but without the actual lab report we were skeptical.

This website also doesn't allow the customer to set the stone in a setting which may not meet the needs of many shoppers. We also had concerns with the over the top expensive shipping charges and no Better Business Bureau rating. Overall, we identified Carats Direct 2 U as a website worth skipping for your diamond needs.

To help you find the Best Diamonds, TopConsumerReviews.com provides you with an in-depth comparison of Jared and Carats Direct 2 U.

If you've purchased a loose diamond before, you know that it's both an art and a science. Carat size, color, certification, depth, symmetry, retail mark-up, and many other factors determine the ultimate price of a diamond.

Most retail diamond stores are typically equipped to provide you with only 2 or 3 choices of stones in your desired size and price range. That means that you'll most likely have to drive between several retail locations, trying to find a diamond that you can afford and feel confident about.

While the task of finding the right diamond has traditionally been a frustrating and time-consuming process, the internet has made all this much easier. With the introduction of online diamond stores in the last few years, you now have access to thousands of diamonds, and can easily choose the color range, clarity, cut, and more that you're looking for. You can also compare several diamonds at the same time to find the best diamond at the best price.

Not all online diamond stores are the same. Before making your big diamond purchase, you should consider the following:

  • Selection. How large is the diamond selection? Will there be a substantial selection of all diamond cuts in various grades and color?
  • BBB Rating. What kind of history does the company have with their customers?
  • Return Policy. If your diamond purchase shows up at your doorstep but doesn't dazzle you, will you be able to return it for a full refund?
  • Settings. Will you be able to set your diamond purchase in a beautiful mounting, if so desired?
  • Diamond Certification. What lab certification companies review the diamond selection? Will you be buying the best quality diamond for the money?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Diamond Stores available today. We hope these reviews help you find the perfect diamond that you're looking for!
