Kay Jewelers is another chain store that offers a decent selection of diamonds for purchase over the Internet. While chain jewelry stores aren't our favorite choice, we know that many people like them for their good service. When purchasing an item from Kay Jewelers, online, you may take it in for service and repair at a local store. Kay Jewelers also comes with a strong Better Business Bureau A+ rating.
The online shopping experience at Kay Jewelers is functional. Shoppers will find the option to sort by diamond shape, color, clarity, carat size, and price. Additional options include narrowing by certification lab, polish, symmetry and more. Customers will appreciate the real pictures of the actual diamonds sold at Kay, along with the option to drag their simulated loupe over the stone to look for inclusions. This is a nice feature that one of the other companies also offers. Many people want to see an actual picture of the diamond and this is a great way to feel like you know what you're buying.
Once you've chosen a diamond the website allows the option to choose a matching setting. Unfortunately there's only a limited selection compared to many other companies reviewed.
Kay offers a nice 60 day return and 90 day exchange policy if you're not satisfied with your purchase. Please see the specific policy online to identify any exclusions.
Overall, Kay Jewelers has serviced millions of happy customers and will continue to do so with their online options. We were less excited about the diamond and setting selections at Kay but appreciate the perfect BBB score and customer policies.
Diamonds USA is a New Jersey based company that has been in the online jewelry business since 2008. We found their list of available diamonds to be abundant but their website clunky and unfriendly. Without being able to look at an actual picture of the diamond or the actual lab certification we felt that shoppers would be selecting their diamond without confidence. Diamonds USA also lost points for inventory sorting issues that increased our search time.
Diamonds USA provides shoppers the option to sort by shape, price range, carat size, lab certification, color, clarity and cut. Our first disappointment was when the long list of results appeared we were unable to sort or organize for a quick scan. Next, the provided pictures are simulated, which is acceptable but when we couldn't see an actual copy of the lab certification letter we lost interest in Diamonds USA. We're not sure who would want to pick a diamond based on such few details.
Purchases at Diamonds USA do come with a 30 day money back guarantee for non-custom, engraved or resized jewelry. This is a pretty typical return policy across the board of loose diamond retailers.
Diamonds USA also doesn't appear to sell any diamonds smaller than .82 carats at a starting price of $1,400.00 which will not meet the needs of many looking to purchase smaller diamonds for pendants, earrings, rings and the like. Similarly, we couldn't find any option to set the diamond.
Despite a strong BBB rating and a huge inventory of diamonds, Diamonds USA misses the mark in website functionality and more importantly, allowing the customer to see some evidence of the stone they are buying. We struggled to find any good reason to choose Diamonds USA over a top rated company.
To help you find the Best Diamonds, TopConsumerReviews.com provides you with an in-depth comparison of Kay Jewelers and Diamonds USA.
If you've purchased a loose diamond before, you know that it's both an art and a science. Carat size, color, certification, depth, symmetry, retail mark-up, and many other factors determine the ultimate price of a diamond.
Most retail diamond stores are typically equipped to provide you with only 2 or 3 choices of stones in your desired size and price range. That means that you'll most likely have to drive between several retail locations, trying to find a diamond that you can afford and feel confident about.
While the task of finding the right diamond has traditionally been a frustrating and time-consuming process, the internet has made all this much easier. With the introduction of online diamond stores in the last few years, you now have access to thousands of diamonds, and can easily choose the color range, clarity, cut, and more that you're looking for. You can also compare several diamonds at the same time to find the best diamond at the best price.
Not all online diamond stores are the same. Before making your big diamond purchase, you should consider the following:
