In the jewelry business for over 60 years, Ross & Simons has it down to a science. When it comes to diamond selection, the options are nearly endless at this website. The website is designed generally easy to navigate with some filtration functions to help narrow down the search. Customers will like the large diamond selection as well as the A+ Better Business Bureau rating at the time of review.
The Ross & Simons online shopping experience is busy and a bit cluttered but the navigation options work. Shoppers may choose from 10 different shapes, a price range, carat size, clarity and color. Unfortunately there are not any additional options to drill down to an exact match. We did find a glitch in their website. Over the course of several days we were unable to view the diamond certificate on the website. We are not sure if this was subsequently fixed but was disappointing.
Ross & Simons also allows shoppers to find a setting for their diamond selection. Customers can choose from several categories including classic, solitaire, vintage, side stones, designer and halo. We found a few nice options within the selection.
If the customer is not satisfied with their purchase, Ross & Simons offers a 30 day money back return policy but provides some inclusions that should be reviewed first.
We rated Ross & Simons rather high for their largest selection and strong customer history. However, we were less excited about the look and functioning of the website. They are worth a look but the experience is more discount store shopping without the low prices.
Sun Jewelry is a California based online jewelry business that claims to have 30 years' experience but doesn't have any record with the Better Business Bureau that we could find. At first we thought Sun Jewelry's diamond search engine was one of the worst on our list but we subsequently ran across this sort of odd place to click that did allow us to filter through their 1200 diamonds, to a certain extent. We also were unenthusiastic about Sun Jewelry's requirement you choose a diamond setting upon check out.
Shoppers have the option to click on the diamond shape to see a list of potential diamonds. Unfortunately there's no means of sorting or refining your search. The customer literally has to manually go through a long list of diamonds to find what they are looking for. If you're able to find the diamond navigation area, which took us some time to find, you'll be able to narrow your search by clarity, cut, color, and so on. This was helpful in pinpointing what we were looking for but frustrating that it wasn't an obvious choice, upfront. By shape there are no pictures but within the hidden navigation area a simulated picture will appear. Sun Jewelry didn't advertise they were simulated but when we looked across several we saw the pictures were the same.
At checkout we were further annoyed that we were required to choose a ring setting. Perhaps our purchase is for an existing ring, a pendant or some earrings? We felt many would turn away at this point, if not much sooner. Sun Jewelry does provide a standard 30 day return policy. We aren't sure if they consistently honor that policy without a presence on the Better Business Bureau website to confirm.
Sun Jewelry was ranked low due to the very frustration shopping experience we endured. Bad navigating, a strange checkout process and more were a turn off.
To help you find the Best Diamonds, TopConsumerReviews.com provides you with an in-depth comparison of Ross & Simons and Sun Jewelry.
If you've purchased a loose diamond before, you know that it's both an art and a science. Carat size, color, certification, depth, symmetry, retail mark-up, and many other factors determine the ultimate price of a diamond.
Most retail diamond stores are typically equipped to provide you with only 2 or 3 choices of stones in your desired size and price range. That means that you'll most likely have to drive between several retail locations, trying to find a diamond that you can afford and feel confident about.
While the task of finding the right diamond has traditionally been a frustrating and time-consuming process, the internet has made all this much easier. With the introduction of online diamond stores in the last few years, you now have access to thousands of diamonds, and can easily choose the color range, clarity, cut, and more that you're looking for. You can also compare several diamonds at the same time to find the best diamond at the best price.
Not all online diamond stores are the same. Before making your big diamond purchase, you should consider the following:
