Blue Nile offers the largest selection of diamonds that we could find. With over 140,000 diamonds to choose from, you're more likely to find exactly what you're looking for at Blue Nile. When you combine diamond selection, great pricing, a powerful website, and strong reputation, Blue Nile earns our highest rating.
James Allen is a great choice for your diamond selection. Shoppers will not only love their huge selection of diamonds but their generous return policy. The company was also ranked high for their unique 360 degree picture technology. It felt like we were shopping in a local jewelry shop.
Jared's is a common name in the chain jewelry arena. The also offer a very sizeable selection of diamonds available online. We found their inventory was greatest in the 1 to 2 carat range and might run a little pricier than some of the other companies reviewed. Some shoppers will really appreciate their actual pictures with loop like technology that allows them to closely observe each diamond.
This online jewelry store is lacking some of the good looks and professionalism that we saw with higher ranked stores. However, Ross & Simons has a long standing history and a superior BBB rating. Their selection of diamonds is impressive.
Kay Jewelers is a common name in the chain jewelry store market. They offer over 3,000 diamonds online and provide a nice simulated loupe for up close viewing. We liked the strong BBB score but didn't find the bells as whistles of those stores ranked higher.
Diamond Wave is a family owned Internet jewelry store that comes with a strong BBB rating and a focus on customer service. However, we couldn't find anyway to choose a setting for our loose diamond selection - which may not meet the needs of many.
Besides a long list of available diamonds for sale, Diamonds USA didn't rank high. Despite a strong BBB rating we didn't feel the website was created with the customer in mind. Also, buyers are unable to view the actual lab certification report - a big concern for us.
At Diamond Princess, shoppers will find a large selection of loose diamonds. However, copies of the lab certifications, options to set the diamonds and unfavorable pricing ranked this company lower on our list.
Sun Jewelry is a California based jewelry company that offers a decent selection of diamonds from various diamond grading companies. The navigation and search tools dropped this company down in our rankings, which was unfortunate. We felt other shoppers would also leave Sun Jewelry exhausted and frustrated.
Shoppers will find clarity enhanced diamonds as well as non-treated white, green, yellow and blue diamonds. An unprofessional, poor website along with a small diamond selection was immediate turnoffs for us at Carats Direct 2 U. We recommend shopping at a much higher ranked online diamond store.
If you've purchased a loose diamond before, you know that it's both an art and a science. Carat size, color, certification, depth, symmetry, retail mark-up, and many other factors determine the ultimate price of a diamond.
Most retail diamond stores are typically equipped to provide you with only 2 or 3 choices of stones in your desired size and price range. That means that you'll most likely have to drive between several retail locations, trying to find a diamond that you can afford and feel confident about.
While the task of finding the right diamond has traditionally been a frustrating and time-consuming process, the internet has made all this much easier. With the introduction of online diamond stores in the last few years, you now have access to thousands of diamonds, and can easily choose the color range, clarity, cut, and more that you're looking for. You can also compare several diamonds at the same time to find the best diamond at the best price.
Not all online diamond stores are the same. Before making your big diamond purchase, you should consider the following:
