Going through a divorce is one of the hardest things a person can experience in life. Studies have shown that divorce is the second most stressful event one can experience - second only to the death of a spouse. While going through a divorce, many individuals experience grief-based emotions such as sadness, depression, anger, lethargy, and anxiety.

This trauma is amplified when couples choose an adversarial approach to the legal divorce. However, statistics show that in most cases, couples often mutually agree on the divorce terms. In fact, an estimated 95% of US divorces are uncontested - meaning both parties have been able to come to an agreement about how to divide the property, who will retain custody of the children, and whether spousal support will be provided.

Rocket Lawyer's website is effective, simple and straight to the point. For those that are learning about divorce, custody arrangements, divorce forms, and more, you'll also find free articles to assist. But for those that simply want to get their divorce on the road, they'll appreciate Rocket Lawyer's uncomplicated three-step process.

Rocket Lawyer's Divorce Settlement Agreement form provides a huge savings for couples that have reached a consensus with how to properly divide assets and end their marriage, but simply need to finalize with the court. The website walks you through each step of completing the required divorce form.

Creating the Divorce Settlement Agreement form at Rocket Lawyer is simple and straightforward. The website walks you through the Q&A process to quickly and accurately create a legally binding form. Once completed, the website allows you to save, share or print the divorce form and proceed from there.

One of the reasons that Rocket Lawyer ranked high is that customers can conceivably use their free 1 week trial to save on membership costs. However, if you have other legal matters that need attending to, Rocket Lawyer offers a monthly membership option that gives you access to hundreds of legal documents and forms. Furthermore, if you have any questions, you can call their toll-free line for assistance, use their local lawyer directory links, or click on the Talk to a Lawyer Now feature.

The TOPS Company, Trade Offset Printing Service, started in 1953 and provides online shoppers access to office supplies, legal DIY forms, and more. The TOPS divorce kit includes a CD and legal divorce forms to help prepare and file for your own divorce. This do-it-yourself option is designed to help safeguard assets, divide debt, and establish child support, custody and alimony.

Shoppers will not find the easy, step-by-step process that we found with higher ranked divorce form packages. TOPS does include State required forms in CD format. The website also states that they offer a digital format, but we weren't able to find any other details on how to download it, nor any hardware requirements that may exist. A digital option would save shoppers significant time in waiting for shipment and delivery of the physical divorce forms. For those that have made the difficult decision to file for divorce, waiting on receipt seems so antiquated compared with other more efficient choices available.

TOPS provides the option to save some money if you buy 6 or more divorce kits, although we aren't sure why an individual would want to buy that many. Also, the only shipping method available is UPS ground, which cost a staggering $10.50. We also couldn't find any customer reviews on this product, which left us feeling uneasy.

With very few product details, an inefficient and outdated approach, and expensive shipping, this product rated low on our list of divorce form options. TOPS is selling many DIY legal forms in a similar method that they sell binders and labels. However, we feel there are better options for people who are going through a very emotional and stressful situation.

If you're looking online for divorce forms, there are many divorce form providers available to help you generate the legal divorce forms you need. Many of these services are managed by lawyers who will ensure that your online divorce forms meet legal standards in your specific state.

Information about the divorce process, access to actual attorneys, and the ability to contact customer service representatives around the clock with questions help take much of the guesswork out of this trying time. Additionally, by using an online divorce forms service, you can often save yourself hundreds or even thousands of dollars in legal fees.

When looking at different divorce forms services, there are certain factors you need to consider. Some of these include:

  • Credibility.  Is the website professional? Have the online divorce forms been prepared by individuals with a legal background?
  • Information Provided.  Is helpful information provided online to guide you through the divorce forms? Can you easily contact customer service representatives if you have questions regarding your divorce forms?
  • Guarantee.  Does the website ensure your divorce forms will meet legal standards? Can you get a refund if you are not satisfied with your divorce forms?
