Join the best Dog Treat Club with Pet Treater Today! Where can you find the best Dog Treat Clubs? These membership plans are a fun, affordable way to lavish a little love on our favorite canine companions. While there are lots of options out there, there are two main products included in most Dog Treat subscription boxes: treats and toys! The best clubs make it easy for you to customize what you'll get in each delivery, based on your dog's size, preferences, and any allergies or other sensitivities. Cost:

Starts at $26/month

With so many companies taking the approach of supporting independent small businesses, it's no surprise that a Dog Treat Club like PupJoy tries to source most of the items in their monthly subscription packages from high-quality, socially-responsible artisan suppliers. That means you'll get natural, organic goods for your pet's healthy lifestyle - while still giving him fun treats and toys he can enjoy for a long time.

Tons of options

PupJoy gives you a ton of options straight out of the gate during their signup process. Here are the choices for you to make:

  • Contents: Treats, Toys & Chews; Toys Only; Treats & Chews
  • Type of Treats: All-Natural, Organic, Grain-Free, Protein Sensitive
  • Type of Toys: Variety or Plush (this is also where you can find a link to PupJoy's Power Chewers option if your dog needs more durable toys and treats)
  • Box Size: Uno (5 items) or Grande (7 items)
  • Dog Size: Tea Cup, Small, Medium, Large or "Huuuge"
  • Desired Delivery Schedule: Monthly, Bimonthly or Quarterly

A little more expensive

Pricing with PupJoy is also very straightforward (though more expensive than some of the comparable providers in our rankings). If you choose the smaller Uno box, you can expect to pay $29 for the month-to-month plan. Alternately, you can opt into longer-term plans and save anywhere from 3% to 10% per delivery (the 12-month plan costs $312, or a per-box cost of $26). The larger Grande plan is similarly structured, with the month-to-month plan priced at $39, and savings of 5% to 15% on the longer subscription plans.

Satisfaction guarantee

The company offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee: if anything in your subscription box doesn't go over well with your dog (or with you!), they'll replace it. We did find a review from a customer who said that she received the exact same treats in her box for five months in a row, along with some less-than-pleasant looking treats sourced from India - but she got collapsible water bowls as the replacement item, not a comparable treat. Another person signed up specifically for the Power Chewer box for their very large-breed dogs, but the toys they got were so small, they were dangerous and couldn't be used.

Mixed customer reviews

On the other hand, we found several dozen reviews from happy customers who said that each box met and exceeded their expectations, and that customer service was easy to contact and responsive when problems needed to be fixed. We're not quite sure what to make of the mixed nature of the customers' experiences across the board, so in the absence of a BBB rating to sway us one way or the other, we'd recommend that you consider a month-to-month membership before committing to a long-term plan by paying in advance.

Helping Paws program

Another plus for PupJoy is their Helping Paws program. It's not unique for a Dog Treat Club to support shelters and rescues, but we're always glad to see those kinds of programs in place. PupJoy partners with the BISSELL Pet Foundation by donating $2 of every subscription box purchase. The foundation helps more than 3,000 rescue organizations around the nation, addressing issues like overpopulation and helping provide foster homes for shelter pets, among other things.

Middle of the pack

We think that PupJoy is a nice option for customers who like knowing that their purchases support boutique-type suppliers of dog treats and toys, as well as helping shelter animals around the country. It's also appealing if you like being able to be very specific about the kinds of goodies you want in each delivery. However, the reported challenges with customer service and the higher-than-average pricing are the reasons that PupJoy doesn't yet earn a better rating among Dog Treat Clubs.

Continued from above

Dog Treat Clubs also make a fantastic gift for those people on your gift-giving list who seem to already have everything they could want for themselves. You won't win them over with a boring gift card or another fruit basket, but watch their eyes light up when they get another package in the mail full of novel chews and tug toys for Rover. Most of these membership subscriptions can be easily gifted for the length of time you prefer, from a one-off shipment to monthly deliveries.

When you start to compare the various Dog Treat Clubs out there today, it's easy to get overwhelmed by all of the options. To find the subscription service that's the right fit for your pet or for your gift recipient's furry friend, here are several criteria to help you "sniff out" the perfect one:

  • Contents. What do you get with each delivery? How many toys and treats are in the typical box? Do they give you a good value for your money, or are they items you could easily find at a dollar store or local big-box retailer?
  • Cost. What will you spend for your Dog Treat Club? Is there a discount if you pay in advance or if you buy a long-term subscription? Is shipping included in the monthly fee?
  • Flexibility. Do you have a range of options, both for payment and delivery schedules? Can you skip a month as needed? What if you want to change the size of the products partway through your subscription term (e.g. to get a few deliveries for each dog in your home)?
  • Reputation. What do other customers say about their experience with the Dog Treat Club? Does the company do a good job of keeping their customers happy, especially with a strong satisfaction guarantee or return policy? Has the business been rated by the BBB?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Dog Treat Clubs available today. We hope this information helps you find the right subscription box to delight all the puppies, doggies, and fur babies in your life for months to come!
