Best Drum Lessons Better Business Bureau Reliability Seal

Start Learning Drums With Drumeo Today! If you've ever dreamed of playing drums, your dream is closer to reality than you might think. There are a variety of ways that you can learn how to play drums easily and affordably.

In the past, drum lessons have been provided by an instructor at a local music shop or their home. Scheduling drum lessons and traveling to the studio can make the training effort challenging and frustrating. Learning how to play drums by an instructor is not only inconvenient, but can also be very expensive over time. Instructor-led lessons can easily cost thousands of dollars just to learn the basics.

Drumeo

DRUMEO Visit Site

Cost:

$29.95/month, or $197/year

TopConsumerReviews.com Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award According to Drumeo, you can "learn drums from home: any topic, any level, anytime." If their more than 100,000 customers are any indication, Drumeo is well on the way to delivering on that promise.

For $29.95/month or $197/year, the Drumeo Edge subscription gives aspiring drummers access to an incredibly broad array of resources:

  • Drumeo Courses that focus on specific drumming topics, with sheet music and audio files that accompany the lesson
  • Play-Along Songs to give drummers the opportunity to apply what they learn to real music; two new songs are included each month
  • Daily Live Lessons of an hour in length, broadcast each day
  • On-demand access to recordings of every live lesson in the Lesson Library
  • Student Focus section that helps learners focus on their progress and get feedback from instructors
  • Progress Tracker to stay on-course with the desired lesson progression
  • More than 60 regular and guest instructors from a variety of backgrounds and styles, including John Blackwell, Peter Erskine, and many more

With over 1,000 hours of drum instruction content ranging from beginner to advanced, in addition to new live lessons each day, students are unlikely to run out of new material to master. Of course, given that the course is 100% online, users should have a device that connects to the internet in order to access the materials and lessons.

We particularly love the 90-day satisfaction guarantee: if a customer isnít satisfied for any reason in the first three months, they can get a full refund, no questions asked.

We were also highly impressed with the variety of well-known drummers who teach lessons for Drumeo. Unlike other learn-to-drum programs that are often the product of just one or two instructors, Drumeo draws on the talents of musicians who have played with Rascal Flatts, Prince, Pat Metheny, and many more.

Customer satisfaction is high, from testimonials on the site itself to reviews on drum-related websites. Some "purists" within the drumming community recommend that learners focus on in-person lessons; however, for the wide majority of people for whom live lessons are too expensive, inconvenient, or just not available, Drumeo grants them access to world-caliber instructors on their own schedule. And, students can essentially try all that the site has to offer risk-free for 90 days and see if itís a good fit for their learning needs.

For all of these reasons, Drumeo earns our highest rating within the drum lessons category.

Learn and Master

LEARN AND MASTER Visit Site

Cost:

$149 one-time fee

Learn and Master was founded to create comprehensive multi-media training tools for those who want to learn at their own speed and from the convenience of their own home. Learn and Master provides piano, guitar, dancing and other training packages. Over $1 million dollars goes into each training guide to create and produce quality materials to insure great results for the consumer.

Dann Sherrill, professional percussionist and drumset player from Nashville, is the drum trainer on each DVD. He goes into great detail on each session's material, including tips, and provides a fun and upbeat attitude. The drum lesson training package includes a well organized set of 12 DVD's, 5 play-along CD's, and a 100 page lesson book.

This product is very fairly priced and makes a great gift for the want-to-be drummer in your life. Learn and Master also offers a payment plan to reduce your cost from one lump payment to either 3 or 4 as you prefer. The cost is a $4 surcharge but we thought this was well worth it.

In the event that you aren't satisfied with the drum lesson training, Learn and Master offers a 60-day return policy for a full refund of the purchase price. Course materials must be in like-new condition with no scratches or markings.

Another nice feature of the Learn and Master drum lesson package is the online community offered through their website. Dan Sherrill is available to answer questions and provide support. Students may also discuss their progress with peers and interact with other students.

For a very competitive price, Learn and Master provides well organized, high quality, leading edge drum lessons geared to meet the specific needs of each individual student. With training provided in DVD format you may easily put a TV right next to your drums and begin your training. This is one of the most professional and effective drum lesson training programs available today.

Begin Drumming

BEGIN DRUMMING Visit Site

Cost:

$49.95 one-time fee

Begin Drumming provides a lot of distracting sales pitch and not a lot of product. While priced at only $49.95 you get what you pay for here. Jim McCarthy is the instructor and founder of Begin Drumming and has 20 years teaching experience and an advanced degree in percussion performance but we're not sure from where.

The training includes a 12 month membership to his website where you receive your training on-line. You'll also receive 198 separate audio files which you download on your time. These audio files are to be downloaded to your iPod or MP3 at the speed you select to assist with your learning. Given that you receive your training on-line we weren't sure how you'd set that up next to your drum set.

In the event that you are not happy with your membership you may return within 8 weeks for a full refund.

All in all we weren't that impressed with Begin Drumming. From the unprofessional website, to the heavy sales pitch, along with the "membership" and no physical training tools. Perhaps if you are without a DVD player this might be the only option for those wanting to learn how to play the drums.

Drumming Made Easy

DRUMMING MADE EASY Visit Site

Cost:

$497 one-time fee

Our first impressions of Drumming Made Easy were "unprofessional" and "expensive". This site looks homemade and despite their efforts to sell, sell, sell we weren't impressed. The training is geared towards beginners and includes 3 very expensive DVD's, with 6 hours of lessons and 150 page workbook.

The trainer is Mike Ray from Australia. No other information related to his training or credentials was made available.

Unique to this training is that your credit card will be charged again automatically in 12 months if you don't cancel. You're being charged for membership to this site. Another scary aspect of this product is that the purchase agreement clearly states that you will be contacted from telemarketers if you buy this product.

If you aren't satisfied with your purchase you may return within 60 days for a full refund minus $20.00 for shipping and handling.

While we liked the prospect of receiving physical training materials we had serious concerns with regard to the price of this product and the uneasy feeling we received from reading the purchase agreement and what it entailed. We recommend you choose a more professional, straightforward product for your drum lesson needs.

Continued from above

However, other methods of learning the drums have recently become available that are both flexible and cost effective. You can now find good quality drum lesson instruction on the internet.

The format of drum lessons that you can purchase over the internet include DVD's, CD's, downloaded instructions, and online training videos. With these type of lessons, you can learn the drums at your own pace and on your own schedule. One thing you should keep in mind is that not all drum training is the same or effective. Many companies make lofty promises to train you quickly and with little work.

Before you buy one of these packages of drum lessons, you should consider a number of items. Some of these include:

  • Who's selling the drum lessons and what will you receive? If you're expected to watch a video from your PC and then turn to play the drums, is that going to work for you?
  • Cost. How much will you have to pay for your drum lessons? How does that cost compare to other top providers?
  • Return policy. If you aren't satisfied with your drum lessons, can you get your money back?
