TopConsumerReviews.com Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award Attorneys is the brain child of Lexis Nexis, Martindale-Hubbel, a large company that has been providing excellent legal information for over 140 years. This interactive website does a great job of pairing qualified, experienced DUI lawyers no matter your legal needs. The website is simple to use and the results are detailed and abundant.

The Attorneys interactive website is very easy to use. Simply enter your contact information and zip code. For DUI's occurring out of state, they suggest that you enter the zip code where the ticket was written. Once you've entered the information, you will receive a call later that same day by a law firm specialized in how to manage your case.

You're also able to perform a legal search by scrolling down the web page and selecting a particular area of law and your state. This will show your additional information regarding potential law firms that can help you.

The third option is to call the toll free number to have a customer service representative connect you with a lawyer in your area. We had luck finding an experienced DUI attorney using all three methods, across a number of different cities. We also found the customer service team both knowledgeable and helpful. The Legal Help Center tab also provides information regarding each legal issue that we had questions.

The Attorneys matching service is free to the consumer, and use of their service does not require you hire anyone they may match you up with.

If you're looking for DUI legal assistance anywhere in the US, Attorneys is a great website to find lawyers with the right expertise to assist with your case. We liked the simplicity of the website, the large database of quality DUI attorneys, and the responsiveness of the service. Attorneys receives our highest rating.

Free initial evaluation

LegalZoom specializes in low-cost, easy-to-prepare legal documents. Of course, defending yourself in a DUI case probably requires more than a do-it-yourself approach, but LegalZoom still has you covered.

To begin, click on the blue "Start my Defense Evaluation" button on the main DUI page. You'll be asked a series of questions, such as:

  • Is this your first DUI?
  • Did anyone get hurt?
  • Did you take a Breathalyzer test?
  • Is your court date less than a week away?

Once you've answered those questions, you'll be asked to provide your first and last name, email address phone number, and zip code. After that, you'll receive a free DUI evaluation from one of LegalZoom's participating law firms, which will explain your options and how you can proceed with your case. Or, if you prefer to speak to an attorney right away, you can call their toll-free number; LegalZoom's hours are Monday through Friday from 5a-7p PT and weekends from 7a-4p PT.

LegalZoom also offers a number of helpful articles that might help you understand your rights and the court process; they can be found in the Article Center, under the U.S Law category and then the subcategory of DUI. We had to dig around to find them and would love to see them featured more prominently on the main DUI page on the site; some of the articles that were particularly informative were:

  • Dealing with DUI Charges
  • DUI Penalties and Punishments
  • State-specific DUI Laws
  • DUI Do's and Don'ts

We would like to see more information on the LegalZoom site, such as a listing of participating attorneys or an estimate of costs while working with one of their partner DUI lawyers. However, every case is very specific with circumstances that vary widely, so we understand that those estimates might not even be possible (or useful).

While we weren't able to find any reviews from LegalZoom customers regarding their DUI services, that doesn't dissuade us. Given the strong reputation of LegalZoom in all legal areas, we're confident in recommending them as a trustworthy starting point for your DUI case.

But not all lawyer locator services are the same. When looking for DUI assistance, you'll want to look for a service with the following characteristics:

  • Database. How large and abundant is their list of DUI lawyers and other specialists? You'll want a company that maintains current lists of qualified attorneys from across the US to help with your legal matters.
  • Website functionality. How easy is it to maneuver their website? Is their DUI lawyer service professional and informative?
  • Process. What is the process of locating a DUI lawyer? Do you enter information about your case online, talk to a customer service representative, or wait for someone to call you back?
