What's the best Eczema Relief product? Scientists are still unsure what causes this skin condition. Also known as atopic dermatitis, some theories suggest that an individual starts with a genetic predisposition to develop the disorder, which can then be triggered by stress or other factors. In fact, more than 35 million Americans suffer from eczema. Eczema symptoms include itchiness, swelling, redness and dryness.

In severe cases the skin can become crusty, scaly and cracked - even leading to bleeding. Obviously, these symptoms can be painful as well as embarrassing. From office workers who don't want to be embarrassed at work, to brides who want clear skin in their wedding photos, to people who want to go to the beach without calling attention to their skin condition, individuals suffering with eczema are often desperate for a solution.

Cera Ve

CERA VE Visit Site

Cost:

$14.18 for a 10 oz bottle of Soothing Body Wash

$10.25 for an 8-oz bottle of Soothing Creamy Oil

CeraVe offers "advanced skincare without a prescription". Developed with dermatologists, CeraVe's eczema regimen consists of a two-step process: cleansing the skin with Soothing Body Wash, and then applying Soothing Creamy Oil.

Both products contain essential ceramides: part of the skin's natural barrier that keeps skin hydrated all day. And, you won't get any irritants like fragrance or parabens in this eczema product.

If you don't get the relief you need from either part of the CeraVe regimen, you can request a refund within 30 days.

So, most importantly, is CeraVe's eczema product line effective at delivering relief from itchy skin and keeping it moisturized? Results are mixed. With over 900 customer reviews, CeraVe averages about 4.1 out of 5 stars. Like most skincare products, what works for one person may not be effective for another. The most common complaints we saw were that the Soothing Creamy Oil was much greasier than a typical eczema lotion; one user even said that they slipped in the tub while applying it. Other customers said that the fragrance-free formula has an unpleasant smell.

We like that CeraVe is priced well, and that customers have the option of trying just the Body Wash or the Soothing Oil - especially since few eczema products include a cleanser and only focus on a lotion or cream, having a body wash could be a nice complement to a product from another supplier.

But, the bad smell and greasy texture of the oil, along with the lack of results for some users, leave CeraVe in the middle of the pack when it comes to fighting eczema.

Skintifique

SKINTIFIQUE Visit Site

Cost:

$37.99 for 1.35 fl.oz Hydrating Gel + 6.76 fl.oz Moisturizing Lotion

Skintifique is the creation of two scientists: Dr. Jacques Delort, a former medical researcher, and Dr. Jeffrey Karp, a professor of medicine at MIT and Harvard Medical School. The two built a team with the goal of bringing innovation to the dermatology field through evidence-based skincare solutions

Although Skintifique has only been in business for six years, they've already established an "A+" reputation with the Better Business Bureau: zero registered complaints.

The Skintifique eczema product consists of two products that can be purchased together or separately:

  • Moisturizing Lotion HP: designed to moisturize and protect skin from environmental stressors like metals and dryness.
  • Hydrating Gel Plus HS: works as an intense moisturizer to soothe and repair eczema-irritated skin

The company prides itself on selling products with a limited number of ingredients, so that there's a smaller chance of any skin reaction. In the Eczema pack items, you won't find fragrances, sulfates, gluten, mineral oil, metals, paraben, or lanolin. Their products are also eco-friendly and vegan.

So, what is in the Skintifique Gel and Lotion? Just 8 and 13 ingredients, respectively - such as glycerin, castor seed oil, and a number of other products you won't likely know by name (e.g. Bisabolol, Chlorphenesin, Glyceryl stearate).

Compared with other companies that sell eczema products, Skintifique comes up very short in terms of their customer satisfaction / return policy. First, you won't find that information readily displayed: you'll have to dig for it in the terms and conditions, where some of the page is actually written in French! Even when you find it, it's not clearly spelled out. Will you get your money back if the Skintifique regimen doesn't help your symptoms? Maybe, maybe not. Will you have to ship the return to France if you are deemed eligible for one? Possibly.

And if you want to try and contact their customer service? You guessed it: you'll have to call a phone number...in France. At least, that's what you'll find in the terms and conditions: but then, on the general Contact Us Page, voilà: a toll-free number in the States with a US address.

That would be good information to make clear, because customer reviews are pretty mixed. Some people said that the Gel and Lotion are the perfect 1-2 punch to finally relieve their eczema, while others say that not only did the Skintifique regimen not help their symptoms, it actually made them worse!

While we love Skintifique's scientific-yet-minimalist approach to fighting eczema and their positive track record with the BBB, their site and customer policies could do more to earn the average consumer's business and trust.

Continued from above

Because the cause of eczema is still unknown, most products focus on calming irritated skin and keeping it hydrated. Some also try to block any environmental irritants or triggers from passing through the skin and causing further issues. These products typically come in lotion or cream form, though a few make use of essential oils or tablets to take another approach.

When looking at the various eczema products currently on the market, how can you decide which one is right for you? Here are several aspects to consider:

  • Cost. What will you spend to get a month's supply of the lotion or other product? Does the retailer offer free shipping or any other discounts?
  • Effectiveness. Does it work? How long will you need to use the product before your eczema symptoms improve? How long will those results last?
  • Reputation. What do other people say about the product? Does the business have a good overall track record?
  • Return Policy. If the eczema product doesn't work for you, can you get your money back? How long do you have to try the product before deciding if it is helping you?
