Exercise Bikes in New York

Many residents of New York are experiencing the benefits of regular physical exercise, including achieving and maintaining ideal weight and increased overall health. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity cardiovascular exercise each week, stating that meeting this requirement regulates blood sugar, helps lower blood pressure, and may prevent heart attacks. New York residents obtain a moderate-intensity cardiovascular workout in a variety of ways, but one of the more popular ways is regularly riding an exercise bike.

There are several different kinds of exercise bikes available. The spinner exercise bike is recommended for experienced cyclists. It has a higher seat position, low handlebars, and support for multiple riding options. With a chain-drive and quick-stop braking, it gives a more intense workout and a realistic cycling experience.

The upright bike is recommended for users who may or may not be experienced cyclists, and are in moderate to excellent health. Built similarly to a traditional bicycle, it has a small padded seat, handlebars that are positioned in the front, and pedals that are placed directly underneath the body. Many people are familiar with this type of exercise bike, especially if they have ridden an outdoor bike.

The recumbent bike features a bigger, chair-like seat that supports the back and offers extra stability. The rider cycles from a reclined position, with the legs extended to pedals that are out in front of the bike. Rider's weight is evenly distributed over a larger area, and the back and buttocks are fully supported. The placement of the pedals and design of the seat ensure that very little pressure is placed on the back. The recumbent exercise bike is an excellent choice for people who are more than 50 pounds overweight, have arthritis, or are in rehabilitation from a surgery or injury.

Investing in an exercise bike and using it regularly is one of the best things a person can do to improve health and longevity.
