Exercise Bikes in Alabama

Alabama MapWhen it comes to health, Alabama is one of the least healthy states in the nation. Experts say this is due to high levels of inactivity among residents, and could be remedied through exercising 30 minutes daily, 5 times a week. Regular exercise helps manage weight, boost the immune system, and reduces the risk of developing chronic disease. A small investment in time and effort to create an exercising habit could add years onto a person's life.

Exercise bikes have long been a favorite of people who choose to exercise at home. One reason for this is cost - a person can save a lot of money by not paying a monthly gym membership fee, and receive the same cardiovascular workout on their exercise bike in the comfort of their own home. While doing their daily workout, a cyclist can watch TV, read a book, or keep an eye on the kids. And, for those who are more fair-weather when it comes to exercising, riding a stationary exercise bike can easily be done when it is dark, rainy, snowy, or cold outside.

For a person who is experiencing back problems or more than 50 pounds overweight, the recumbent exercise bike is the ideal choice. This bike has a bigger, chair-like seat that provides lumbar support and offers extra stability. The rider is in a reclined position, with weight evenly distributed over a larger area. Comfort on these bikes is paramount, and the design provides support to the body while putting very little stress on the back.

An upright exercise bike is built more like a traditional bicycle, with a padded saddle seat, pedals placed directly underneath the body, and the handlebars are positioned in front. This type of bike may work the gluteal muscles more thoroughly because a rider can fully extend their hips through the cycle. This type is bike is ideal for those who are not experiencing health problems and just want a good workout.

Whether a person is extremely overweight or just wanting to tone and shape muscles, using an exercise bike in Alabama is one of the easiest ways to achieve fitness goals!
