Exercise Bikes in Michigan

Michigan MapMany residents of Michigan are finding that riding an exercise bike increases health, contributes to vitality, and promotes emotional well-being. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends 150 minutes of moderately intense cardiovascular exercise weekly for adults. Cardiovascular exercise lowers blood pressure, decreases the risk of chronic disease, and helps maintain ideal weight. Spending 30 minutes a day on an exercise bike meets the requirements for cardiovascular exercise, contributing to physical fitness and emotional health.

Exercise bikes are increasing in popularity as gym memberships decline. Responsible factors include cost, weather, and being able to stay at home to exercise. After the initial investment for the purchase of an exercise bike, there is no monthly fee to use the gym or to workout. Having an exercise bike at home can benefit a serious rider for the rest of their life in a very cost-free way. Home exercise bikes can be ridden regardless of the outside weather. It doesn't matter if it is dark, precipitous, or cold outside. An individual can cycle away without stepping through the front door. The ability to multitask appeals to many busy people. They can fit in their daily exercise routine while eating lunch, checking emails, or reading a book. All this can be done from the comfort of the family room.

Basic types of exercise bikes include the upright and the recumbent. The upright is just as the name suggests; the rider sits upright on a bike seat that is similar to that of an outdoor bicycle, with foot pedals below the hips and handlebars in front of the bike. Many cyclists are most familiar with this style of bike, since it is built like an outdoor bike. The recumbent exercise bike is ideal for riders who have arthritis, back problems, or other orthopedic conditions. It has a bigger, chair-like seat that supports the back and offers increased stability, putting the rider in a reclining position that exerts little pressure on the back. Physical therapists frequently recommend the recumbent exercise bike to patients who are in rehabilitation after an injury or medical procedure.

Michigan residents can improve overall health and happiness by participating in a regular exercise program, and an exercise bike offers the ideal way to do that.
