Exercise Bikes in Missouri

Missouri MapMany Missourians have discovered the benefits of using an exercise bike to get a low-impact workout at home. The gentle workout puts minimal stress on the spine, and has no jarring impact on the hips, knees, and ankles. Some consider using an exercise bike the ideal way to get in shape and maintain physical fitness.

Exercise bikes come with many available options. Lower-end models offer workout resistance, quiet handling, and an easily adjustable seat for height. Moderately priced bikes are usually sturdier and often include features like heart-rate monitoring and built-in workout programs. Exercise bikes that are considered top quality include features such as a hi-tech LED display console, longer warranties, and electronic equipment that measures distance ridden, average speed, and calories burned. Whatever the desired functions, an exercise bike can be found to suit any preferences.

A basic understanding of the types of exercise bikes available is helpful in making a selection. Recumbent exercise bikes are generally bigger, with a chair-like seat that supports the back and offers stability. The rider cycles from a reclined position, with legs out in front to reach the pedals. Weight is evenly distributed, with the back and buttocks fully supported. This type of bike is good for people who experience back problems, suffer from arthritis or other orthopedic conditions, or are more than 50 pounds overweight.

An upright bike is similar to a traditional bicycle, with the rider sitting upright on a smaller seat. Pedals are placed directly underneath the body, and hands are positioned in front on the handlebars. This type of bike may offer the best workout to the gluteal muscles because the rider's hips fully extend through the cycle rotation.

Exercise bikes are considered one of the safest kinds of exercise equipment, and can be used by persons of any age group. Residents of Missouri are discovering the value of a home exercise bike as they are cycling their way to fitness.
