NIKE

From marathons to dance-a-thons and everything in between, Nike's got the fitness clothing to match. After all, their famous slogan is "Just do it" - no matter what your style of "it" may be.

The best reason for shopping using the Nike site is getting the most access to everything the brand has to offer. There's no need to go from store to store hoping to find the shoes, shorts, or shirts you want, when Nike's online store has the sizes and colors just a click away. We love that they have options for the widest range of customers, from plus-size women's apparel to clothing and shoes for infants and toddlers.

The Nike site also gives you access to all of their customizable products. You design it, they make it, and you get it delivered in 3-5 weeks. If you want to own shoes that no one else on the planet will be wearing, you can!

Stay ahead of the crowd by following Nike's tips. For example, on the NikeWomen page, you can shop by Trending Colors, Best Sellers, and New Releases - or read what their preferred influencers have to say about style on the Nike Unlaced blog.

You'll also find more than just the Nike brand; check out the links at the top of the page for Hurley and Converse as well.

You can enjoy free shipping "on every order, every time" by signing up for the complimentary NikePlus membership - essentially, creating a user account for future visits.

The absolute best perk available with this retailer: Nike is the only brand of fitness clothing in our review that allows you to return worn items within 30 days. In other words, if you try out those running shorts and find that they ride up a little too much, you can still return them within 30 days of your shipping date. Nike will also accept returns after that 30-day period, as long as your items are in new condition: unworn and unwashed.

Nike stands out in the industry, with choices for men, women, and children and an unparalleled return policy. We give them our highest rating as our first-choice winner among retailers of fitness clothing.

EVOLVE

Looking for fitness clothing at Evolve feels like going shopping with your BFF, who's telling you that she wants you to "feel awesome, energetic, and motivated" by what you're wearing. When you've got a retailer that promises that they don't carry everything, "only the good stuff", it's even better when they deliver. And Evolve does.

Our favorite part of the site to browse is the New Arrivals tab. We always find clothing there that we haven't found in any other online store; when we shopped there most recently, we loved the Wear it to Heart Roller Girl Legging and the Electric & Rose Grayson Crop Top.

Otherwise, if you already know what you need, you can follow the usual steps of selecting the category that matches (like women's, accessories, and so forth) and then filter your options as appropriate by price, color, and size. Evolve carries over 25 boutique brands from around the country, with many articles personally selected by the all-women Evolve team.

The only downside to Evolve's inventory? No clothing for men or children. In fact, this was the only factor keeping the retailer from earning a perfect five-star rating. (Let's not leave the guys and kids out of the fitness scene!)

Evolve steps up their game with respect to returns: the 30-day period is pretty standard, and like most companies, they require items to be in unworn, unwashed condition with all tags still attached. But, if you opt for store credit instead of a refund, they'll add an extra 10% to your return. (In other words, if you make a $100 return, you'll wind up with $110 in store credit).

Even better, it's obvious that the entire staff at Evolve care deeply about their brand. We found tons of reviews from happy customers - even the ones who had issues with shipping or sizing were wowed by the personal response they got from representatives of the company. (We get the impression that if we wanted a customized recommendation for our next yoga ensemble, all it would take is a phone call or an email to get that kind of one-on-one guidance).

For all of these reasons, Evolve is one of our top choices for workout apparel. Unless you happen to be looking for fitness clothing for men or children, we think you'll love everything about the shopping experience at Evolve.

UNDER ARMOUR

Who knew that a quest to make a superior T-shirt that helped regulate body temperature would lead to one of the most recognizable brands in fitness clothing? That's the story behind Under Armour, whose mission remains "to make all athletes better through passion, design, and the relentless pursuit of innovation".

Given how easy it is to find Under Armour gear in brick-and-mortar stores, why would you want to shop their online store? In a word, the answer is selection. Know how frustrating it is to have to go through stacks and racks of fitness clothing, only to find that the color you want is out of stock in the only size you need? That ends when you shop the UA site.

From golf shoes to leggings, you'll get the world's best selection for men, women, and children. New arrivals? Good luck finding those at the mall. Outlet deals? No one will have more choices than what you can find at Under Armour's online store. (And where else can you watch all of the videos from your favorite celebrity spokespeople like The Rock or Misty Copeland? Just saying.)

The UA site is crisp and clean, but navigating it is slightly different from most fitness clothing retailers we reviewed. You'll start by choosing the category you need at the top, like most sites. But, once you get to the results page, you'll need to choose from dropdown boxes at the top of the page to further narrow them down (where most other sites have that kind of functionality along the left side of the page). It makes it super-easy to get right to the color, size/fit, even technology involved (Stay Ready, Stay Warm, Stay Cool, for example).

One of the most mind-blowing features of shopping for fitness clothing at Under Armour is the ArmourBox. You'll have to sign up to be invited as spots open up, but here's how it works: you tell UA what your goals are, from faster performance to better recovery between races. You'll be assigned an Official Outfitter, who hand-selects 4-6 pieces of Under Armour gear that match those goals - every 30, 60, or 90 days, depending on what interval you choose. You'll have a week to try everything on for size, and you only keep what you love - and you'll get a 20% discount if you opt to keep the whole shipment. It's like having a personal shopper keeping you outfitted, and you don't have to spend a single second going through racks to find your perfect gear.

Shipping is free on orders over $60, or a flat $4.99 for smaller orders, with a delivery timeframe of 4-6 business days. You can also opt for 3-day, 2-day, or 1-day FedEx, with fees of $8.99, $14.99, and $24.99, respectively.

If you need to return your Under Armour purchase, you have 60 days from the date of purchase - and, like most retailers, UA does require that the clothing be in their original condition, unworn and unused, and with the original packing slip. Just use the return label that was included with your shipment; Under Armour will pick up the tab for the shipping.

There's a reason Under Armour holds a position as one of the top fitness clothing brands around the world, and their online store is ample proof: products for every conceivable activity, backed by thousands of happy customers and an excellent return policy. The only question is, what will you wear next?

YOGA OUTLET

Don't let the name fool you: Yoga Outlet is a top destination for many types of fitness clothing, not just yoga and Pilates. You'll find tops and bottoms, sports bras and other intimates, along with a well-rounded selection of items for home and wellness, meditation, and, yes, yoga mats and props.

Created in 2012 with headquarters in California, Yoga Outlet has been featured in InStyle and Martha Stewart Weddings magazines, while at the same time maintaining an excellent reputation with their everyday customers. At the time of our review, they enjoyed a respectable "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau, with only one complaint!

While the store is definitely geared towards the namaste crowd, there are plenty of options for people who get fit from A(bs) to Z(umba). If you're looking for trending apparel, start by clicking on the New Arrivals tab. We found everything from Onzie Yoga Shorts in brand-new patterns to yoga mat towelettes for keeping your mat clean and smelling fresh. Otherwise, click on any of the other tabs - Clothing, Accessories, and so forth - to narrow down your options to what you're shopping for. With any category you select, you'll be able to use the filter choices on the left to shop by size, features (like pockets!), color, price, and more. We love how you can see not only all of the available colors/patterns on the images in the display, but also the average customer reviews for most items.

You'll have plenty of brands to choose from as well. Yoga Outlet's biggest brands are Balance Collection, Beyond Yoga, Free People, Spiritual Gangster, and Alo Yoga - but you'll have more than 60 others to browse.

Yoga Outlet wants your business. If your order is more than $99, you can choose between free Rush 1-2 Day shipping or a 3% credit on your order. If you find a lower price on an item you order within 24 hours of your purchase, just let them know and they'll refund the difference. And, returns are easy: you'll have 60 days from the date your order shipped to either get a full refund or a store credit - just make sure that your items haven't been worn or washed, tags are intact, and all packaging is included.

Best of all, Yoga Outlet delivers. We found hundreds of reviews from very happy customers: "high-quality apparel", "amazing selection", and "fast shipping" were some of the most common compliments given to this retailer. For all of these reasons, we recommend Yoga Outlet as a great choice for fitness clothing.

THE SPORTS EDIT

You'll know The Sports Edit is a UK brand as soon as you get to the site - in fact, you may want to start by clicking on the upper left-hand corner to select USD ($) as the currency for all products. Created in 2015, this retailer has its roots in London while still delivering to almost 200 countries. When it comes to fitness clothing, they carry nearly five dozen brands, offering shoppers clothing that blends the best in performance, quality, and style.

Like to keep your look edgy? Trendy? Luxe? Your first stop should be The Edits - you'll find that link towards the top of the page. Here, you'll get the UK's hottest recommendations for your hot yoga class, time on the track, or just running errands.

If you have a preferred fitness clothing brand, The Sports Edit aims to please. Some of their current brands include "traditional" favorites like Adidas, Asics, and Under Armour; you'll also find selections from Manduka, B Yoga, S'Well, Veja, Free People Movement, On Running, Salt, Spiritual Gangster, and many others.

But, if you care less about the brand and more about the function, The Sports Edit's website makes it easy to quickly find what you want. Select Womenswear or Menswear, and then shop by Activity (Run, Train, Yoga/Pilates, or To & From, for example) or Category, such as Bottoms, Tops, Trainers, and Accessories. You can also scroll down and get a feel for the retailers new and best-selling items, depending on if you'd rather be setting the trend or getting in on it.

At the time of our review, The Sports Edit had no warehouses in the U.S. This affects your shipping/delivery times, so plan accordingly. Also, this also impacts your ability to return any products that don't fit like you'd hoped: you only have 28 days from the date of purchase to make a return for a refund, and the cost of any return shipping is on you. That might be a tight timeframe if your order takes a while to arrive and then to be received again by The Sports Edit in the UK.

Expect shipping to cost about $20 (13.95 British pounds) if your order is $250 or less. That comes with a delivery time of 7-10 business days, so again, keep an eye on that return window. It may be worth it to pay for Express US shipping (1-3 business days) for an extra $2, give or take based on the current exchange rate.

Our overall impression of The Sports Edit is that they're the name to know if you live in the UK. Their brand and product range are amazing, and customers report getting great customer service when something isn't as expected. The only drawback is that, for US customers, that tight timing for shipping and returns? You might say that it chafes a little.

GYM SHARK

Gymshark is a UK-based fitness apparel and accessories brand, originally created by a teenager in 2012 and now followed by more than 5 million people on social media. This retailer carries product lines strictly from their own brand. That's a plus if you're looking specifically for one of their unique styles, but may not be ideal if you're hoping to have a variety of brands to choose from.

What does Gymshark carry? Here's an idea of what's in their inventory of fitness clothing:

Because this is a brand you're not likely to encounter on the racks at your local store, we recommend that you use the size guide on the Gymshark website, especially if you're shopping for women's leggings. For instance, the High Waisted Seamless Leggings are "designed with a high-waisted and body contouring fit", while the Flex Leggings are low-waisted and may fit somewhat smaller than anticipated.

You may also find it helpful to read the comments on the Gymshark website, even on their blog. We found many real-world pointers from people, comparing how the different types of leggings fit, which materials were more form-fitting, and suggestions for which clothing would be best for different uses and body shapes.

When it comes to returns, here's the bad news: you'll have to send your items back to the UK. The good news? Returns from the USA are free; Gymshark covers the return postage. You'll have 30 days to initiate your return from the date your package was delivered.

That return policy may be important: many of the reviews we found said that Gymshark bottoms in particular have ripped easily, or have been see-through to the point of being embarrassing. Gymshark customer service representatives get points for responding quickly to replace and/or refund any purchases; you'll see them answering posts on social media extremely fast, showing their commitment to their customers.

Gymshark does have a wide range of fitness clothing to choose from, and their approach to their customers is on point. But, with only one brand to choose from and having to wait on delivery/returns from the UK, we think many shoppers in the US will be more likely to choose a brand they already know - or a retailer that's a little closer to home.

Best Fitness Clothing

Who has the best fitness clothing? For every athletic activity, there's apparel to match. If you're a runner, you want the right running clothes that will keep you dry and comfortable. If you're a yoga-lover, you need tops and bottoms that allow your flexibility to shine through.

In fact, fitness clothing may be one of the most important components of having a successful exercise plan, aside from the activity itself. Workout clothes run the gamut, from tried-and-true, name-brand labels to boutique brands designed to give wearers a unique look at the gym. Whatever your fitness style may be, going out shopping for the clothing can be an aggravating experience.

When you shop for fitness clothes in person, you can encounter a lot of frustration. Will they have the size you need? The color you want? The style that everyone is wearing - or the one that will make you the first in the class to have it? Many times, the answer to all of those questions is "no".

For exactly that reason, online purchases of fitness clothing are on the rise. Why spend hours looking for the perfect leggings and tank tops when all it takes is the click of a mouse? Even for brands that can be found in big-box retail stores, they often make their best selection available through their online stores, with size/color/style options that may not even be sold in brick-and-mortar locations.

So, how do you choose the right online store for your next purchase of workout clothing? There are several factors to consider, including the following:

  • Selection. How many brands does the store carry? Or, if it's the online store of a well-known brand, do they have much more than what's available in local retail locations? Can you find products for men, women, and children? Are there a range of sizes?
  • Return Policy. If your order arrives and something doesn't fit, can it be returned? How many days do you have to initiate the process? Does the clothing have to be unworn/unused, or can you try it out first?
  • Reputation. What do previous customers have to say about the quality of the clothing and the expertise of the customer service representatives? Do orders arrive on time?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best fitness clothing available today. We hope this information helps you find the right fitness clothes and gear for your next workout!
