Flowers Fast vs Florists

Best Flower Delivery

Who offers the best Flower Delivery service? If you're trying to put a smile on someone's face, few things work as effectively - and beautifully - as fresh flowers. Research done by LaSalle University and Rutgers University show that when people receive flowers, they're happier in the short-term, their mood is boosted over the long-term, and they feel more connected to the sender.

There really is something to the idea of "flower power"! Even the practice of feng shui associates fresh-cut flowers with increasing abundance and positive energy. Is it any wonder that so many people choose Flower Delivery to celebrate important moments like the birth of a child, to share the grief in times of bereavement, and even as a "just because" pick-me-up for a friend or loved one?

Cost:

From $29.90 to $497.90

Headquartered in New York, Flowers Fast has been delivering floral joy for more than 20 years. Since our last review, the company has made some impressive upgrades to their website, making it a much more pleasant - and intuitive - ordering experience.

Navigation options let you shop by Occasion, Popular products, Specialties, Colors, Collections, and Sympathy bouquets and arrangements. Another way of shopping the site that we particularly liked was under Search. There, you can find bouquets that are specifically available through Same-Day Florist Delivery or via FedEx/UPS Next-Day or Ground, depending on how fast you need your flowers to arrive.

You can also use this section of the site to shop by price range, collections (like Better Homes & Gardens or Patriotic Flowers), or, our favorite, search for bouquets with certain flowers included. So, if your lucky recipient is a huge fan of lavender or you want to make a splash with orchids in your arrangement, you can quickly find all of the possibilities that match.

And, believe us when we say that you'll want to narrow down the options in some way - because they are plentiful when using Flowers Fast for your delivery. In the Anniversary/Romance category alone, there were over 130 choices. In general, you'll find bouquets and arrangements for every price point, from small potted flowers for less than $30 (and non-flower gifts as well), up to lavish luxury rose bouquets for over $300.

Plus, Flowers Now offers many options for funerals and memorial services, like casket sprays, easel-stand arrangements, and more. Lots of online flower delivery services don't provide that, making this a good choice if you need a special arrangement when a loved one passes.

When you get to the order form, you'll have options to upgrade your flowers (making the arrangement larger and with more premium blooms), add a balloon or a plush bear, or to add a box of chocolates. Pay close attention to all of the boxes on the order page: you may need to enter color requests for the flowers in your arrangement, enter your gift message/occasion, and so on. One important part is where it says, "substitute similar product if available". That part is automatically set to "yes", so you'll have to change it to "no" if you only want the exact arrangement featured on the site at the time of your order.

The order page itself is still a little outdated. When it's time to pay, you'll either be redirected to a third-party transaction processing site or to PayPal, depending on which one you choose.

During our most recent visit to the site, we also spotted a pop-up asking if we wanted a discount code. We had to click "yes" and then "allow" - which usually are the settings for giving a site permission to show notifications in our browser. We don't know about you, but most customers prefer to get discounts through an email newsletter, not by actually adding permissions within the browser itself. A handful of customers mentioned that they never got a discount offer, and others referred to coupon codes that didn't work.

The only significant customer complaints we could find about Flowers Fast were almost unanimously regarding the price. While you'll spend approximately the same for the bouquets and arrangements themselves as you would with most rival online florists, the delivery charges can make Flowers Fast more expensive. For example, the least expensive gift we could find was a Perfect Pear Gift Basket for $19.90 - but the delivery fee was $20.99, more than the gift itself. Mysteriously, on the most expensive bouquet (that Lavish Luxury Rose Bouquet we mentioned earlier), the delivery fee was only $16.95.

On a positive note, Flowers Fast has a good reputation with the majority of people who have used their flower delivery service. Multiple people describe beautiful bouquets that arrived exactly on time and were better than expected, and several customers say they've received that level of quality across many years as repeat clients. That's always a plus!

We're really happy to see all of the positive changes that Flowers Fast has made, especially with the upgraded website that makes it much easier to find the right flowers for any occasion. While they could be more consistent with their delivery costs, this flower delivery service has a strong selection of bouquets and arrangements for every occasion - including some occasions you might not find when shopping other florists.

FLORISTS

Cost:

$19.99 to $249.99

Florists is based out of New York, offering a wide variety of fresh cut flowers, potted plants, gift baskets and fruit bouquets for every occasion.

You'll have no problem finding the flowers you want when using the Florists website. Browse by occasion, same-day delivery options, or choose plants or gift baskets. Once you've chosen a category, you can sort through the possibilities by Price Range as well as Florist Picks, if you want their top choices displayed first. Be sure to check the box for "Need it today?" if you're looking for same-day delivery of your flowers.

Florists does a fantastic job of telling you exactly what you can expect in your flower delivery and what upgrades are available. For example, the Fall Sunset bouquet has a default of a single bouquet, no vase. If you need a vase, you can select that as an option for an additional $5. Want twice as many flowers? Vase or no vase? You'll find those clearly listed too.

We found it amusing that Florists has a section devoted to "Cheap Flowers Delivered". If you're shopping on a limited budget, be sure to check out that page on their site. You'll find beautiful arrangements of daisies, lilies, and even roses priced from $20 to $50. You might need to scroll down to the bottom of the main page to find that link.

Whatever you choose, expect a delivery fee of $14.99 for your order. A point worth mentioning is that Florists is a 1-800-Flowers company, which participates in the Celebrations Passport program. It might be possible to get the exact same arrangements through 1-800-Flowers, and use that annual Passport membership to get free delivery.

Florists gives you a solid satisfaction policy. For flowers that are delivered late through no fault of your own (e.g. entering the wrong address or no one available to receive the delivery), Florists will refund your delivery charge. If the flowers don't meet your expectations, you can request a replacement within 3 days of delivery - just make sure to send Florists a picture of the arrangement when making that request, since most orders are fulfilled through their network of more than 6,000 florists worldwide.

Customers have good things to say about the service they received through Florists. While they're at the mercy of their florist network when it comes to on-time deliveries, customers report that Florists' customer service team does a good job of making it right when things don't go as expected.

Florists makes it easy to find the flowers you want, add any options you like, and send a beautiful delivery same-day or on the date you choose.

Also, when paired with an additional surprise like chocolates or a beautiful crystal vase, flowers can leave a lasting impression when delivered to the home or office.

How can you tell which Flower Delivery service to use? Naturally, you want to select a business that will make sure that your selected arrangement is delivered to the right person, the right address, and in fresh, pristine condition. As you consider the various businesses that offer Flower Delivery, keep in mind these basic criteria:

  • Cost. How much will you spend to get the bouquets and blooms you want to send? Is delivery included, or will you pay an extra fee?
  • Selection. Does the florist offer a good variety of arrangements? Can you add extra items like candies or stuffed animals?
  • Reputation. What do previous customers say about the Flower Delivery service? Were their flowers delivered on time and in good condition? Does the florist have a satisfaction guarantee, in case your delivery doesn't go to the right address or there are other issues?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Flower Delivery services available today. We hope this information helps you select the florist that can help put a smile on someone's face today!
