Up until this point, The Flower Factory probably sounds like any other online florist out there. It's when it comes to customer service that this company really comes out smelling like a rose.
Starting with an "A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and only one complaint registered there in the last 3 years, The Flower Factory is known for doing a world-class job at delivering flowers that delight and impress. They guarantee that you'll be completely satisfied with your order; if not, contact them within 7 days of delivery and get a full refund or a re-delivery of what you ordered. And, they stand behind that guarantee: we didn't find too many customers who needed to take them up on that guarantee, but those who did were extremely satisfied with the customer service team's response.
We also love seeing that the bouquets people receive look exactly like what the company advertises - no bait-and-switch or substitutions of much lower-quality flowers. And, for the customers who use The Flower Factory for weddings and other once-in-a-lifetime moments, we're so glad to read comments like "extraordinary experience" and "they know what they're doing", describing the personalized attention and design skills of the florists who work there.
For all of these reasons, The Flower Factory should be your first stop when considering which flower delivery service to use for your sympathy arrangement, "Will you marry me?" bouquet, or any other occasion where you need the "wow" factor.

This is a huge difference from most flower delivery services, who rely on local florists to fulfill your cross-country orders.
Because of this direct relationship with the farms where their flowers grow, Flower Explosion has some of the most unique options we've found. Need customized colors? No problem. How about rose petals for your wedding or other romantic occasion? They can do that too. Try browsing the site by flower type and you'll soon see that this company has you covered from Agapanthus to Snapdragon and everything in between.
The arrangements delivered by Flower Explosion don't automatically come with a vase, so be sure to add one if needed. Just look for the "add a vase" dropdown on the individual bouquet pages. On that same page, you can also choose from bouquet sizes of Original (12 stems), Deluxe (24 stems), and Opulent (36 stems).
You also should expect that your flowers will need to spend some time in water to look their best - after all, most of what Flower Explosion delivers is being shipped from Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica and Holland via FedEx. The good news is that not only will you pay less for your order from this company, but they also include that shipping absolutely free - even on next-day deliveries! Note, however, that you won't find any same-day options with this company.
Customers love Flower Explosion, and their "A+" rating with the BBB is proof. Some of their most gushing, grateful compliments come from people who used their flower delivery service for their weddings. It was inspiring to see how much effort the business put into getting everything exactly right for every bride - and how they take responsibility for any problems that arise. Even when the issue comes from a customer misunderstanding - not remembering that a certain type of flower changes color during its development and might not match their color scheme - Flower Explosion reps handle it apologetically and kindly.

Once you've chosen a category, you can sort through the possibilities by Price Range as well as Florist Picks, if you want their top choices displayed first. Be sure to check the box for "Need it today?" if you're looking for same-day delivery of your flowers.
Florists does a fantastic job of telling you exactly what you can expect in your flower delivery and what upgrades are available. For example, the Fall Sunset bouquet has a default of a single bouquet, no vase. If you need a vase, you can select that as an option for an additional $5. Want twice as many flowers? Vase or no vase? You'll find those clearly listed too.
We found it amusing that Florists has a section devoted to "Cheap Flowers Delivered". If you're shopping on a limited budget, be sure to check out that page on their site. You'll find beautiful arrangements of daisies, lilies, and even roses priced from $20 to $50. You might need to scroll down to the bottom of the main page to find that link.
Whatever you choose, expect a delivery fee of $14.99 for your order. A point worth mentioning is that Florists is a 1-800-Flowers company, which participates in the Celebrations Passport program. It might be possible to get the exact same arrangements through 1-800-Flowers, and use that annual Passport membership to get free delivery.
Florists gives you a solid satisfaction policy. For flowers that are delivered late through no fault of your own (e.g. entering the wrong address or no one available to receive the delivery), Florists will refund your delivery charge. If the flowers don't meet your expectations, you can request a replacement within 3 days of delivery - just make sure to send Florists a picture of the arrangement when making that request, since most orders are fulfilled through their network of more than 6,000 florists worldwide.
Customers have good things to say about the service they received through Florists. While they're at the mercy of their florist network when it comes to on-time deliveries, customers report that Florists' customer service team does a good job of making it right when things don't go as expected.
Florists makes it easy to find the flowers you want, add any options you like, and send a beautiful delivery same-day or on the date you choose.
Enjoy Flowers takes a unique approach to flower delivery: their service is by subscription only. What does that mean?
First, you won't be able to choose a one-off bouquet for a new baby, an expression of sympathy, or a "would you go out with me" expression of affection.
But, it means that you can choose to give (or receive yourself!) a once- or twice-monthly bouquet of fresh flowers. If that sounds like a fun way to enjoy the beauty and fragrance of fresh cut flowers, you've got a few decisions to make:
After you've chosen which style, bouquet size, and frequency, you'll need to decide how you'd like to pay. The prices mentioned above require you to prepay for 12 months of deliveries. If you prefer month-to-month, expect it to cost a little more (e.g. $40/month instead of $34). There are also options for 3- and 6-month prepaid plans, which come with discounts of 5% and 7.5%.
Enjoy Flowers doesn't have a toll-free number or live chat; in the event that you have a question, you'll have to leave an email message. That could make it difficult to make a claim on their warranty, which says that your flowers will stay fresh for at least 7 days after delivery.
To their credit, though, representatives from the company do a good job of responding to customer comments and concerns, even without an easy way to contact them. We found friendly, appropriate responses to online complaints and compliments alike - showing that Enjoy Flowers is paying attention to their reputation. That's a plus, given that we couldn't find a Better Business Bureau listing for them.
If you're looking for a way to send flowers on the regular - without having to remember specific dates like anniversaries, birthdays, etc. - Enjoy Flowers could be right for you. On the other hand, for those one-off moments like a memorial service or an "I'm sorry", you'll need to look at a more traditional flower delivery service.
FloraQueen got its start in 2004 in Barcelona. They currently offer flower delivery in more than 100 nations worldwide, including the US. Be sure to select the delivery country towards the top right-hand side of the page, to see only those items that can be sent to your desired destination.
Because FloraQueen is a European company, you should be aware that while bouquets and arrangements are shown on the site in dollars, the amount is only an approximation: your order will actually be charged in Euros, and so what you'll pay will depend on the going exchange rate at the time. That left us wondering why someone would go with FloraQueen instead of using a US-based florist, since they likely use the same network of florists.
Once you've selected the bouquet or arrangement you'd like to send, you'll see all of the possible options. Sizes range from Classic to Deluxe, but FloraQueen doesn't spell out what you get for the upcharge. For most of the flowers we looked at, vases came at an extra cost of $14 to $25. Greeting cards are an additional $7+, and there are also boxed chocolates and stuffed animals you can add to your order. Helpful hint: if you want one of the extras, try leaving it off your order until the next screen: we got a pop-up of a "last chance" discount on the add-on items, saving as much as 20%.
When we went to leave the site, we got a funny pop-up with the image of a disgruntled woman and a message saying, "Don't you want to make her happy? We make it easy for you!" along with a 10% discount offer for a "buy now" order.
FloraQueen winds up as "just average" in many ways. Their delivery fees are much less than US-based companies, at an approximate $8 (remember that it'll be charged as the equivalent in Euros), but their average cost tends to be higher on comparable items. Check out their prices on a dozen red roses to see for yourself. (We'd list them for you but given that arrangement can vary widely from one season to the next, you'll want to see the most up-to-date cost at the time of your order.)
Even their customer reviews are middle-of-the-road. With over 11,000 on Trustpilot alone, just over 50% ranked FloraQueen as excellent, while another 23% gave them a "poor" or "bad" rating. The business responds to most customer complaints there, which is a good sign, but because they're not based in the US, they don't have a BBB listing for further proof of their reputability (or lack thereof).
In short, if you find a great deal through an online coupon code or other source, FloraQueen will probably do a "good enough" job on your flower delivery. But, if you're looking for a more straightforward way of sending a bouquet - especially without having to deal with currency conversions - this probably won't be the first company you'll choose.

Also, as part of that brand group, you have the option of participating in the Celebrations Passport, which offers discounts and free shipping on many products, whether you're buying from Harry & David, The Popcorn Factory, or one of the other partner businesses.
If you're looking for a broad assortment of flowers, you definitely will not find it with Harry & David. Their selection is limited to just 11 bouquets and arrangements (5 fewer options than the last time we reviewed them). You'll find the basic lilies, tulips, and gerbera daisies, along with an orchid arrangement (when available).
One of the biggest negatives with using Harry & David for flower delivery is that none of their choices are available for same-day delivery - a fairly standard option with most florists, who use a partner network to fulfill orders locally. And, many of the flowers offered by Harry & David come in a box, with no vase. These two issues make Harry & David much less convenient than their competitors. Their limited selection might be due to the fact that their brand family includes the 1-800-Flowers label: a business that naturally specializes in flower delivery.
So, if you already participate in the Celebrations Passport and find something you like among the small selection Harry & David offers, you'll probably be pleased with the quality of the flowers delivered to your recipient. But, you'll definitely find a more robust selection elsewhere.
Flowers Fast is based out of New York and has been in business for more than two decades. And, compared with some of their competitors' websites, Flowers Fast's online store seems like it might also be 20 years old. You won't find a glitzy site here.
You can find what you're looking for by using the navigation options on the left side of the page: shop by Occasion, Gift Ideas, Collections like Hallmark or Better Homes & Gardens, or by Price Range. Flowers Fast sells a good range of options, from simple baskets and bouquets in the Under $40 category, up to elaborate premium arrangements for more than $300.
On the high end, they offer a beautiful array of casket sprays and standing hearts for funerals and memorial services - something you won't find with every flower delivery service.
Every bouquet and arrangement has a detailed description of what is included. For example, the FTD Classic Beauty Bouquet comes with 12 stems and other greens in a classic vase. You can also upgrade to Deluxe or Premium arrangements, which come with 14 and 19 stems, respectively.
During the checkout process, you can add a stuffed animal, foil balloon, or boxed chocolates. And, pay attention to the "Special Comments" section: it defaults to allowing the florist to substitute a similar product if your arrangement is unavailable, so if you absolutely want it to be what you ordered, you'll need to replace the "yes" with "no". In that case, your order will be canceled if they can't deliver the exact flowers you requested.
At first glance, Flowers Fast has prices that are lower than other flower delivery services. But, when we added in the required $14.95 to $19.99 delivery fees, their prices were the same as or more expensive than the competition.
On a more positive note, Flowers Fast has a satisfaction guarantee: if you're not happy with the flower delivery for any reason, contact them or the delivering florist, where applicable, within 24 hours. They'll "provide a replacement or make other appropriate arrangements". We found a few customer comments that said the flowers their gift recipients received didn't look like the photos or weren't in good condition, but Flowers Fast took care of the problem.
Overall, Flowers Fast has a selection that's good, but at prices that are only okay and an outdated online store. Competitor flower delivery services offer a much more appealing shopping experience.
Phillip's Flowers & Gifts, the company behind 1-800-Florals, enjoys a long, solid reputation: nearly 100 years in the industry and an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau. This Chicago-area florist delivers to all 50 states and Canada, offering same-day and next-day delivery.
Before deciding which arrangements you want to buy, you should understand the difference between 1-800-Florals' arrangements that are fulfilled through a florist network, and their direct-ship next-day flowers and bouquets. The latter come at a discount - but they also come in a gift box, unarranged. As the site says, "they are not recommended for delivery [to any] location where it would be inconvenient for the recipient to arrange the flowers". Keep that in mind as you browse your options.
The 1-800-Florals site isn't the freshest flower in the bouquet, so to speak. The look and feel is dated, and shoppers have to hunt around to find what they want. The easiest way is to either browse the 75+ options on the main page - which are automatically presented from highest price to lowest, by the way - or to choose from the Shop by Occasion or Shop by Product in the dropdown options at the top of the page.
As we started looking through our options, things got confusing. For example, when we looked at a basic arrangement of 3 pink and 3 yellow roses, we were given the option to choose between three prices, one of which said, "as shown". According to the information offered under "Why Three Prices?", selecting a higher or lower price changes the "presentation value" of the flower delivery. But, other than showing three bouquets of increasing size, the site doesn't explain what you'll get: just a vague "longer stems, larger blossoms, a fancier vase" description of possibilities. We would definitely prefer to know what we're paying for, instead of paying a higher price for something we hope will be nice and not too expensive.
Speaking of expensive, 1-800-Florals charges a hefty $19.99 delivery/service fee on every order. That might not seem like much if you're ordering their most premium arrangement at $89.95. But, if you're ordering their lowest-priced arrangement at $29.95, spending almost double to include the delivery might have you looking at other online florists. That delivery fee is also a steep increase over the $7.95 they charged in the past.
While we appreciate 1-800-Florals' long history and reputation, their options for flower delivery are much more expensive than the competition - without adding any increased value for your dollar in return.
From You Flowers was once at the top of the market when it came to flower delivery. You can still find their "best value" and "best overall quality and price" awards proudly displayed on their site - awards won almost 10 years ago. Are they still the florist of choice?
Their online store still features plenty of bouquets and other floral arrangements, along with plants, gift baskets and food. The site continues to be easy to use; shop by categories featured at the top of the page and select the flowers that interest you. You'll see a detailed description of what's included, and most of the arrangements we saw included a vase at no extra charge: a perk compared with several competitors. You can also opt for Regular, Deluxe, and Premium versions, though you won't be told exactly how much more "deluxe and premium" your delivery will be. And, you still have the ability to add balloons, chocolate, or a teddy bear to your order.
We were also shocked to see how many reviews From You Flowers has on third-party, independently-verified sites: over a million on one site alone! But, despite the company claiming to have over 5 million satisfied customers, the ones we heard from were anything but happy with the flowers delivered by From You.
We found far too many instances where the wrong items were delivered, and customers were only given a percentage of their purchase price as a refund. Also, many people said that the arrangements and bouquets were of a much poorer quality than what was shown on the From You Flowers site - one person described it as paying an expensive middleman to deliver the same bouquets you could buy yourself at the local grocery store.
We're glad to see that this company is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and had an "A+" rating at the time of our most recent review. Unfortunately, that doesn't do much to fix problems like having flowers delivered after a funeral ends (instead of on time for the service) or refusing to offer a full refund when a delivery goes completely missing.
From You Flowers needs to make big changes to stay competitive within the flower delivery market. For now, we suggest you take a look at one of the better-rated services in our review.
Send Flowers is your average flower delivery site. At one time, they came in as our first-place service, because of their easy-to-use website and high-quality arrangements. What's changed?
The site itself is still simple to navigate. Shop by occasion, like birthdays or sympathy, or by flower type and price. The main page shows plenty of options, and each individual product page is clearly laid out: choose regular, deluxe or premium bouquets, add extras like balloons or stuffed animals, and select any available delivery date. So far, so good.
But, looking at recent customer experiences, we discovered that more than a few problems have emerged with Send Flowers delivery service. One review we found suggested that Send Flowers is better for deliveries within larger cities; when trying to deliver outside of a metro area in Wisconsin, the customer's order was cancelled because the only florist within 20 miles refused to make the delivery.
Send Flowers also seems to have a problem with consistency. One customer took photos of an arrangement sent to two different cities for Mother's Day; not only did they look completely different from each other, but the bouquets didn't look anything remotely as lush and full as the picture on the website.
And, although Send Flowers advertises a 100% satisfaction guarantee, complete with refund or redelivery, customer experience doesn't match that. Many people said they were only offered a discount on a future order, even when their flowers were delivered days later than originally promised. That's not much consolation when a delivery consists of floral arrangements for a funeral, and they don't arrive when needed.
Unfortunately, Send Flowers has decreased considerably in their attention to detail and commitment to customer service since our last review. You'll probably receive better service with one of the higher-performing flower delivery companies.
Pro Flowers has been in operation since 1998, as part of a group of brands that includes Red Envelope Gifts, Personal Creations, Shari's Berries and more. Their parent company, Provide Commerce Inc., enjoys an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Using the Pro Flowers website is a smooth experience. Multiple categories at the top of the page allow you to go right to what you want:
Once you've narrowed down the possibilities, you can easily see a detailed list of what's included. For example, in the Pink & Purple Love Bouquet, your recipient will get an arrangement that includes 2 Pink Oriental lilies, 2 Green fuji mums, 8 Purple & Dark Pink roses, and so on. In the past, all Pro Flowers deliveries came in a box with no vase, but in the time since our last review, most of their flowers have vase options - some included for no extra charge, and decorative/fancy vases available for an additional fee.
You can also see exactly when your flowers can be delivered. Look for the place where it says, "available as early as" and "pick a delivery date". After you choose the date, the next screen in the checkout process shows you add-ons, like greeting cards, spa sets, and stuffed animals. Pro Flowers has some of the steepest fees of any flower delivery service we reviewed: $19.99 for standard, plus an extra $2.99 "care and handling" charge. If you selected guaranteed morning delivery, holiday service, or Saturday delivery, you'll pay an extra $9.99 to $14.99.
But, what you really want to know is "How do they measure up when it comes to flower delivery?" That's the right question to ask. Despite such a good reputation with the BBB, customer feedback is much less reassuring. Even though the company offers a 7-day freshness guarantee and says that all of their deliveries go through a "strict 7-step quality assurance process", their real-world results seem anything but meticulously-arranged and fresh.
We were disappointed to read many comments from unhappy customers who described the flowers in their delivery as the worst they'd ever seen - and that's not even counting the people whose orders never came at all. Another complaint said that the chocolate their mom received for her birthday was not only late, but the box was full of ants. The only redeeming factor is that the customer did get a prompt refund from Pro Flowers.
That prompt refund - both for that shopper and for others we found - and the good rating with the BBB are the only two reasons that Pro Flowers isn't ranked lower in our review. Every other factor points to this business doing a much worse-than-average job of making customers happy with their flower delivery service.
Avas Flowers has a 30-year history as a family owned-and-operated business. They offer "better flowers at lower prices".
The site feels a little dated - definitely not as polished as many of their competitors' online stores. You can use the navigation at the top to browse by the occasion for which you're sending flowers. Once you choose an arrangement that interests you, you'll find options for upgrading to Deluxe, Premium, or Luxury-Grade options. Unfortunately, you'll have no idea what you're getting for that extra money: the photos for all four categories are exactly the same, and there's no description to let you know what's included.
At the time of our review, there was a pop-up offering a 15% discount on our first order if we signed up for Avas' VIP email list, and a banner at the top of the site offering free delivery on all orders.
Despite promises of "satisfaction guaranteed", Avas Flowers has a horrible reputation for delivering flowers that look worse than what you might get at your local supermarket. We found numerous "what I ordered vs. what I got" photos that made us feel like we could make a better arrangement ourselves. Customers chose bouquets that were lush, full of flowers and greenery, and tightly arranged - but often what their recipients got were arrangements with just a few flowers, loosely packed to the point of having broken stems, and wilting or dead blooms.
And, forget about on-time delivery: many people said that their guaranteed delivery windows were completely ignored, and that they were told that no one was there to accept the flowers when they came. We read hundreds of customers who said that Avas Flowers gave them the runaround when they asked the company to give them a refund; often, it took disputing the charges with their bank or credit card issuer to get their money back.
The final nail in the floral coffin is Avas Flowers' BBB rating: "F". Between that and so many past clients saying, "If I could choose a lower rating [than 1 star], I would", we can't recommend that you entrust Avas Flowers with your flower delivery. We encourage you to consider one of the many reputable, higher-ranked services in our review.
At first glance, Flora 2000 looks like an upscale European flower delivery service. Easy navigation options on their website allow you to shop by occasion, type of flowers, or price, and the images are clear and crisp.
Dig a little deeper, however, and the bloom quickly starts to fade from the rose. The site encourages us to "avoid dissapointment" by trusting them with our order - while misspelling a word. Their promise of delivering "personal care" around the clock, including via live chat, left us waiting for an agent for more than 10 minutes before we gave up. They also promise that their flower delivery is always on time, guaranteed. But, if you can't reach a customer service representative by phone or live chat before placing an order, why would you expect anything different afterwards?
And, unfortunately, the "F" rating Flora 2000 has with the Better Business Bureau doesn't stand for "fresh flowers": not only are there 6 unresolved complaints there, but the BBB reports that they can't actually locate Flora 2000. The business address listed on the BBB site is only a virtual office - which makes sense, given that Flora 2000's "Corporate Headquarter" is in Gibraltar, according to their own website.
Reading customer complaints about Flora 2000 left us feeling wilted. The words we saw most often describing the shopping experience were "never delivered", "rotten flowers", and "fraud". The customer testimonials on the site were hard to believe, compared with dozens of reviews on third-party sites describing a horrible experience from start to finish.
For all of these reasons, we strongly recommend that you choose a higher-ranked flower delivery service in our review. Flora 2000 is likely to "dissapoint" you and your gift recipients.

Although you may use a debit card to pay for your on-line purchase, many flower vendors and florist shops prefer you use a credit card for the on-line transaction to provide you with an extra layer of financial protection. If, in the unlikely event, your credit card information should escape into the world outside of the transaction between you and them, by using your credit card, any fraudulent charges of more than $50 are handled by your credit card company and in most cases, any fraudulent charges under, and up to, $50 are handled by the vendor itself.
Florists who do business on-line promise, and hold true to that promise, that any personal information you give them in the course of placing your flower order with them, remains with them alone. Personal information will not be sold to other marketers.
You will be asked for your phone number and email address so that, in the event of a problem with your order, it can be corrected as fast as possible.
