Best Foam Mattresses Better Business Bureau Reliability Seal

Get Your Foam Mattress at Leesa Today! Foam Mattresses are the latest trend in the mattress industry. A few years ago consumers were able to choose between one or two foam mattress brands - but now, several companies compete in the memory foam mattress business.

Adults are attracted to both the comfort and support that a well-made foam mattress provides, especially over the standard spring mattress. Many people that have complained of back pain for years are now finding relief from simply buying a new mattress made of foam. The design of foam mattresses eliminates the pressure points that can cause body pain and restless sleep.

Cost:

From $525 to $990

TopConsumerReviews.com Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award If you want a great night's sleep AND a clear conscience, be sure to put a Leesa foam mattress at the top of your shopping list. What makes Leesa different from other companies that sell foam mattresses?

Foam mattress features

The first clear difference is the mattress itself. The Leesa mattress has the following features that have led to nearly 4,000 five-star reviews from happy customers:

  • Bottom layer: a 6" dense core of support foam
  • Middle layer: a 2" layer of contour "memory foam"
  • Top layer: a 2" layer of Avena foam that allows for cooling
  • Cover: seamless edge, cool and soft to the touch
  • Turning: Never has to be flipped, rotated or turned

Competitive pricing

Pricing is very competitive: $525 for a twin foam mattress, up to $990 for a King or California King. Shipping is free on every mattress, giving shoppers an additional savings.

Best Foam Mattresses

100 night risk-free trial

The second way that Leesa foam mattresses stand out is in the 100-night risk-free trial. When you buy one of their foam mattresses, you can use it for up to 100 nights. If you decide that you don't like it - for any reason - Leesa will arrange to pick up the mattress at no cost, and then they will donate it to a local charity or recycling center before giving you a full refund. Be aware that it can take up to a month for your body to adjust to a new mattress, so take advantage of the 3+ months before making your decision.

Made in America

The last unique feature of Leesa as a brand is their commitment to making the world a better place. For those who believe that it's important to buy products made in America, they'll appreciate that the Leesa product was designed in Virginia, manufactured in Pennsylvania, shipped in boxes made in Indiana, and covered with materials woven in Indiana. Also, Leesa donates one mattress for every 10 purchased; these donated mattresses (more than 6,000 to date) have gone to shelters in Arizona, New Jersey, New York City and other places, serving the homeless and other people in transition. And, for the environmentally-conscious, they'll be glad to know that Leesa partners with the Arbor Day Foundation in order to plant one tree for every mattress sold.

Excellent choice

What's not to love about a Leesa mattress? It's hard to imagine a foam mattress that could deliver more. Because of their competitive pricing and free shipping, demonstrated commitment to making the world a better place, and a risk-free 100-day trial, Leesa shares our top 5-star rating and is an excellent choice for your next foam mattress purchase.

Cost:

From $495 to $2,695

If you've never considered Puffy for your foam mattress purchase, you might be missing out on the best night's sleep you've ever had. Unlike some makers of mattresses-in-a-box, this retailer gives you three types of construction to choose from: the traditional Puffy, Puffy Lux, and Puffy Royal.

3 mattresses to choose from

Which one is the best for you? That depends on your sleeping style and your budget! Here's what you can expect from each one, all available in sizes ranging from Twin to California King:

  • Puffy ($495 to $1,050): the entry-level design consists of three layers - Cooling Cloud, Climate Comfort, and Firm Core Support. You'll get a medium-firm level of support with this 10 mattress.
  • Puffy Lux ($1,145 to $1,695): the mid-range model adds a high-density transition comfort layer and a luxury cover. This 4-layer mattress is 12 high.
  • Puffy Royal ($1,345 to $2,695): the deluxe end of the price range gives you a 1.5 top layer with cooling beads for reduced heat retention, a multi-directional 5-layer system that offers customized support for the different areas of the body (more support for the back while being softer in the head, neck, shoulders and feet), and increased airflow. The Royal mattress is 14 high.

Free shipping

All Puffy foam mattresses come with free FedEx shipping, a 101-night sleep trial (with free returns for a full refund; returned mattresses are donated to charity), and a lifetime warranty. Plus, each design has a Cooling Gel Cloud Layer that optimizes temperature control, enhanced spinal alignment with firm core support, and a Zip-N-Wash stain resistant cover. Finally, every Puffy mattress was designed to be comfortable no matter how you use it: flat on the floor, on a flat frame or box spring, slats or even an adjustable frame. You'll find plenty of options for frames available for purchase on the Puffy site, if you don't already have something in mind.

Best Foam Mattresses

Pillows, sheets, and even dog beds

The Puffy store has a nice selection of bedding extras. Does Fido deserve his best night's sleep too? Get him a dog bed! From pillows and sheets to weighted blankets and more, you've got options. You'll find all of those links at the bottom of the site or in the dropdown menu at the top.

Special discounts

Keep an eye out for special promotions. At the time of our most recent visit, Puffy had a pop-up discount offering a savings of $300 and a free pillow if we signed up for their email list.

Positive customer feedback

If you haven't already guessed, customers have extremely good things to say about their experiences with the Puffy foam mattress line. At the time of our most recent visit, there were nearly 7000 reviews that averaged a perfect 5 stars. That track record is backed by the A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Even going outside of the testimonials on the Puffy site and considering what people are saying, these mattresses are a great investment (and may even come out a little less expensive than our first-place retailer).

Great choice

Puffy is a great choice for buying your next foam mattress, which is why they share our highest possible rating of five stars. We love that customers can choose among three different levels of comfort, making it possible to get a bed that is comfortable for all types of sleepers (and their wallets!). We encourage you to give Puffy that 101-night trial and see if it's the right fit for you.

CertiPUR-US approved means:

  • Low emissions for better indoor air quality

There are 13 different models to choose from, each with varying features and specifications, so there are plenty of selections to choose from to get the perfect mattress for each consumer.

Thousands of customer reviews

There are literally thousands of reviews on the Nature's Sleep website, in fact they dedicate an entire section of the website to their product reviews. The overwhelming majority of the product reviews were very positive, citing things like firmness around the edges, reduction of back pain and even the coolness of the product during sleep.

Free shipping

Nature's Sleep offers free shipping on all products and also a 20-year limited warranty. There is also a return policy if the product is unopened, but they charge a 20% restocking fee for this service. This was pretty much the only negative we could find with Nature's Sleep. Otherwise with a large selection, commitment to the environment and excellent consumer reviews, we strongly recommend giving Nature's Sleep serious consideration for anyone seeking a memory foam mattress.

Eight Sleep

EIGHT SLEEP

Visit Site

Cost:

From $475 to $899 for traditional foam mattress

From $949 to $1,199 for Smart Mattress

Prepare to have your mind blown when you look at what Eight has to offer in the foam mattress department. Did you ever think that your mattress could trigger your lights to turn on when your alarm clock goes off? Or automatically turn on a "bed warming" feature if the room temperature gets colder than you'd like? Eight can do all of that - and more.

Sleep improvement system

Billing itself as a "sleep improvement system", the primary feature of Eight's mattresses is the Smart Cover (which is also sold separately from the mattress, if you already have a mattress that you like). The Cover fits like a standard mattress pad and provides you with a wealth of information about your sleep habits - sleep phases, breathing rate and heart rate, for example - similar to what you would get from today's popular bracelet-style sensors, but without having to wear anything extra.

Warming feature

The Smart Cover also incorporates a warming feature with two zones, so if you like it toasty and your bed partner doesn't, you can both have it your way.

Integrates with wifi products

Even more impressive is the way the Smart Cover can be connected with other Wifi-enabled products, allowing you to create a "smart bedroom". Want the lights to dim when you set your mattress to night mode? It can do that. How about lowering the thermostat when you're finally asleep? Yes, it can do that too - assuming you have the additional, non-Eight products needed.

Mattress sizes

Eight offers Smart Mattresses in four sizes: Full, Queen, King, and Cali King. So, if you're looking for a high-tech twin mattress, you're out of luck at Eight. They do offer the same mattress base - minus the sensor pad - in Twin and Twin XL, so you can still send your kid off to college with a great mattress. You just won't be able to keep tabs on his sleeping habits.

4 layers of foam

The mattress itself consists of four layers of foam:

  • 2" of reactive foam on the uppermost layer, designed to stay cool and provide comfort
  • 2" of contouring foam on the next layer, which contours to the body and offers pressure relief
  • 2" of supportive transition foam, providing consistent weight distribution for all shapes and sizes
  • 4" of high density support foam, adding firmness and a durable foundation

Extremely positive reviews

Customer reviews are extremely positive, for both the Smart Cover and the Eight mattress itself. Shoppers say that they've consistently gotten a great night's sleep, even after using the mattress for several months. Eight does provide a 100-night trial: if you don't love your Eight mattress, you can get a 100% refund, and Eight will pay for the return shipping. Given that it can take some time to get the smart features integrated and detecting properly, we think this is a great perk offered by Eight.

Free shipping

Like most foam mattress retailers, Eight ships all mattresses for free. Keep a look out for special promotions, too; at the time of our review, Eight was offering two free pillows with every mattress purchase. Also, if you're a student, first responder, or active/retired/veteran military, check out the links at the bottom of the page to save an additional 10%.

Strong choice

Unless you're specifically looking for a smart twin mattress, Eight is an excellent choice for your foam mattress purchase - especially if you love having the latest tech at your disposal, even when you sleep.

Live and Sleep

LIVE AND SLEEP

Visit Site

Cost:

From $399 to $899

Live and Sleep is a newer, U.S. based company that offers memory foam mattress shoppers affordably priced, eco-friendly and comfortable options. Featured in the Miami Herald, Boston.com, Star Tribune, ABC News, and Fox News, Live and Sleep mattresses are sized and priced in a range that is likely to meet everyone's needs. Online publication "The Good Trade" noted that the Live and Sleep company is "truly trying to make an eco-friendly product".

Foam mattress features

Features of the Live and Sleep foam mattress line include:

  • Memory foam that conforms to the body
  • A high-density support core that provides the right support
  • An eco-friendly construction that is CertiPUR-US certified, meaning it is guaranteed to use fewer chemicals than other mattress manufacturers
  • A quarterly donation of a portion of the purchase price to the National Alliance to End Homelessness

Not sold in stores

Live and Sleep's concept is a bit unique in that their foam mattresses are not sold in stores. Live and Sleep understands that most people can't truly try out a mattress unless it's in their own private home. Therefore, mattresses are sold online and come with a solid return policy.

Foam mattress models

The thicknesses and sleep trial periods of the mattresses are:

  • Classic (10" thick) including a 30-day sleep trial period
  • Elite (10" thick) including a 75-day sleep trial period
  • Luxury (12" thick) including a 100-day sleep trial period

Break-in periods

With the Classic mattresses, there is a break-in period of 1-15 nights and they are eligible for return between 16 and 30 nights. With the Elite and Luxury mattresses, there is a break-in period of 1-50 nights and they are eligible for return between 51 and 100 nights. Customer support and returns are handled through an online form, email, and a toll-free phone number. Live and Sleep will provide customers a full refund or a different mattress, if their initial purchase doesn't meet their needs.

Mostly positive reviews

Out of 250 verified buyer reviews on their website, an impressive 78% gave their purchase a five-star review. The two through four star verified buyer reviews on the Live and Sleep website included a mix of mostly happy or neutral reviews with one or two minor complaints as well as complaints about the construction of the mattress, temperature, advertised vs. real firmness, and a difference in the advertised country of manufacture (United States) vs. what was found on the tag (China).

Only four verified buyer reviews on the Live and Sleep website were one-star reviews and many of them were inconclusive as the buyers hadn't had enough time to know for certain whether the mattress was going to work for them. The complaints included having to return the mattress because it wasn't comfortable to sleep on, the mattress being the wrong size for the bed, and late delivery of the mattress.

Happy customers

In a short period of time, Live and Sleep foam mattresses have produced a long list of happy customers. While their selection is limited to only 3 types of mattresses they of most shoppers. And, the return policy guarantees that if you are unhappy for any reason, you can get your money back or try another mattress. Live and Sleep provides quality memory foam mattresses at reasonable prices that shoppers can feel confident buying.

ESSENTIA

Cost:

From $1,489 to $6,180

Essentia was started by Jack Dell'Accio when he found out a family member had cancer. He began researching how many toxins were in everyday items, including mattresses, and he sought to provide foam for mattresses, made from natural ingredients.

Foam mattress features

Essentia offers several different foam mattresses (including a baby crib foam mattress). All their mattresses include that have:

  • Unbleached Organic Cotton
  • Organic dyes
  • Absolutely no adhesives
  • No chemical odor
  • Allergy-free sleep environment
  • 80% more breathable than conventional memory foam
  • Faster recovery time
  • Biodegradable

Free shipping

The Essentia website is very clean and easy to navigate. A helpful chart is provided comparing Essentia's foam mattresses to other memory foam, latex foam and spring mattresses. There are many links from the homepage that are informational for living "Green" in other areas besides just your mattress. The company is based in Canada, but has a few couple retail locations in the US. They offer Free Shipping, a 60-day money back guarantee, and a limited 20-year warranty.

Natural foam mattress

Essentia is the most natural foam mattress option available. Customers rave that comfort and support has not be compromised with the natural ingredients. They offer great customer service with their shipping and guarantees. The one thing that kept them from topping the review is that they are a young company. A 20-year warranty isn't worth anything if the company is not longer around. We believe they are here to stay, but due to their new status, we were hesitant to rank them the highest.

Keetsa

KEETSA

Visit Site

Cost:

From $439 to $2,203

Keetsa is very environmental and pocketbook conscience. Their line of seven foam mattresses are reasonably priced and are eco-friendly. The foam mattress options include coil, green tea memory foam and a combination of both. Keetsa is very careful in the selection of materials for their foam mattresses using unbleached organic cotton, latex foam and green tea extract for the natural, relaxing scent. Box Springs are not needed to support the foam mattresses, just another way they are helping the environment.

Attractive website

The look of Keetsa's website was one of our favorites reviewed. It is well laid out and crisp in color choice of green, further supporting their cause of "going green." The homepage has tabs at the top that help you find what you are looking for. They even have a blog that has many different topics in regards to living eco-friendly.

Free shipping

Like many of the other companies reviewed, Keetsa offers free shipping. Unique to them though is that their foam mattresses are extremely compressed, allowing them to be shipped easily in small packages, which produce a lower carbon footprint - once again, helping the environment.

Lack of comfort guarantee

Unfortunately, there is no comfort guarantee offered. The website advises you speak with a Sleep Consultant before you purchase your foam mattress, and also if you're unsatisfied after you receive it. Keetsa requires that you sleep on your foam mattress for 30 days before you can return it. You have up to 90 days to return your foam mattress and will be assessed a 25% processing fee. There is a 12-year warranty that is offered on Keetsa foam mattresses.

Affordable choice

Keetsa has been around since 2007 and is making its presence known in the foam mattress industry. They are very eco-friendly and strive to provide quality foam mattresses at a reasonable price. Keetsa is a good option if you are concerned about the materials of your foam mattress, but can't afford a higher priced mattress.

Nectar

NECTAR

Visit Site

Cost:

From $524 to $1,024

Nectar entered the race for "best foam mattress" back in 2016, offering some advantages over many of their competitors:

  • 365-night trial: nap, sleep, and hang out on your bed for up to a calendar year. If you're not satisfied, you can get a full refund.
  • "Forever Warranty": the mattress is covered for as long as you own it
  • Free shipping and returns
  • Unique construction: several types of CertiPUR-US Certified foam (quilted gel memory, adaptive hi-core memory, etc.), cooling cover

Inexpensive option

Nectar is also more affordably priced than many of the other foam mattresses on the market. At the time of our most recent review, there was a promotion in place that offered $125 off any mattress purchase, making it possible to get a twin for just $399 and a king for $899. Shipping is always free.

Mixed customer reviews

So, now that Nectar has had a few years to prove themselves, how do they measure up when it comes to actual customer experiences? Reviews are mixed. Looking at the 5,000+ comments on the Nectar site itself, most people are very satisfied: 4.8 stars out of 5, on average. The most positive reviews say that their Nectar mattress delivered a better night's sleep than they ever thought possible, even after many months (and even years) of use especially for people who prefer the "just right" medium firm support that Nectar foam mattresses offer.

Good customer response

We also appreciate that they've expanded their available methods of contacting the company; we were able to reach company reps almost immediately when using the toll-free number and the live chat, both of which are available 7 days a week from 6am-9pm PST.

Delivery issues

However, despite these improvements, Nectar still seems to have an Achilles' heel when it comes to customer service. Since our last review, the company earned a rating with the Better Business Bureau: a less-than-impressive "B-", with more than 200 closed complaints over the last year alone. The most frequent issue? Delivery. While every mattress says that it will ship within 5-7 business days, actual delivery times can take as long as a month. When some customers reach out to Nectar for updates, they get conflicting information: "it's on the way", "it'll be shipped in a few days", and even "we're not sure when it will ship". Unfortunately, your credit card will be charged as soon as you place the order, no matter how long it takes for your mattress to arrive.

Separate shipping

Another common delivery problem is that the mattress and optional foundation are often shipped separately, leaving customers with just the mattress and nothing to put it on. We also found more than a few complaints that returning the mattress is not as easy as Nectar advertises, especially when trying to make a claim using the "forever warranty".

Satisfied sleepers

In short, the Nectar mattress may give you a comfortable night's sleep, once it actually arrives. We're glad to see that the company has made progress with their customer service availability, and their mattresses do have quite a few happy sleepers. However, we'd like to see further improvements in the company's BBB rating and overall customer experience in order to consider Nectar more competitive with other foam mattresses on the market.

Visit Site

Continued from above

With a number of new companies entering the foam mattress market, it's important to know what to look for when shopping for a foam mattress. Before you make the move to purchase a foam mattress, you should consider the following:

  • Cost.  What is the price range for the foam mattresses offered?
  • Customer Feedback.  What are customers saying about their experiences with the foam mattresses and the company's they bought them from?
  • Return Policy.  In the event you're not satisfied with your purchase, does the company enable you to return the foam mattress for a full refund?
  • Guarantee.  If your foam mattress breaks or disappoints you in a few years, is it still covered under warranty? For how long?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Foam Mattresses available today. We hope these reviews help you find that perfect night's sleep right away!
