Stew Leonard's Gift Baskets

STEW LEONARD'S GIFT BASKETS Visit Site

Cost:

From $29.99 to $79.99

Stew Leonard's Gift Baskets offers a unique combination of variety and freshness that is worth the time to review. The fruit basket options are limited (only 6), but the variety of additional items available to accompany the gift baskets help make up for the lack of options. In addition to fruit, some of the baskets also include options for nuts, cheese, crackers and chocolate mints. Or you can purchase a tin of popcorn or other baked goods to accompany your fruit basket. The fruit baskets themselves are not extremely special, although they are abundant with fresh fruit.

Fruit baskets at Stew Leonard's range in price from $29.99 to $79.99, which makes them some of the most affordable options on this list, if only the retail price is considered. They also have some of the highest shipping rates compared to others on the list, so it might be a wash on price or slightly more expensive than their competitors.

Searching for the perfect option is easy. The website is well organized and pleasing to look at. Across the top are basic categories, one of which includes a link to the fruit baskets. Once you have found the basket you want, you can click on the picture to view the details and learn about the specific contents that will come with that basket. Click add to cart and you are off and running.

The best thing about Stew Leonard's is their customer service model. They stand behind their products and admit that "The customer is always right". This means that their representatives will work diligently to meet your needs and resolve your concerns.

Although the selection is limited, Stew Leonard's does have options that appeal. The fruit will be fresh since it is coming straight from the family farm to your gift recipient. For these reasons, Stew Leonard's is still an option to consider.

Cost:

From $35 to $125

FTD offerings include flowers, plants, gift baskets, balloons, chocolates, and fruit baskets. The options for fruit baskets are somewhat limited and most include other non-fruit items in them, like chocolates, nuts or cheese. The pictures on the website show average looking baskets, but we recognize that FTD usually fills their orders from local FTD affiliates, so what the basket may look like once delivered could be different.

The detailed fruit baasket descriptions on FTD's website do explain what is included in each item, but no mention is made of where the fruit comes from or what quality and inspection process they complete to ensure the fruit is fresh and blemish free. But FTD does have a "Love it, or we'll make it right" guarantee, which helps put customers at ease.

Fruit boxes and baskets at FTD range in price from $35 for the "Good" size "Fruit and Cheese Box", compared to $125 for the "Share the Goodness of California Fruit & Gourmet Basket". The range of prices creates options that can appeal to a variety of budgets. Shipping costs can be pricey, and they are not shown until you get to the very end of the order process (after you have entered your shipping information), so until then you do not know how much more the basket will be than the advertised price. They do offer an FTD Gold Membership that you can purchase for $30 that will give you free standard shipping, no service fees and reduced shipping on same day or premium delivery methods for one year. FTD accepts standard payment methods, but also includes PayPal.

The downsides to using FTD would be the concern for quality and the lack of many options when it comes to fruit baskets. There were also several negative reviews on the Better Business Bureau website, but all of them seemed to be closed satisfactorily with a full refund due to FTD's customer service pledge. The Gold Membership is also a nice option to help save on shipping costs if you plan to make multiple purchases in the year. Overall, FTD is average when it comes to fruit baskets, which is why this one ends up in near the middle-to-end of our list.

Some questions that might come to mind include where do I find a reputable company, how can I ensure the fruit is good and not too ripe, what type of fruit do I want to include in the basket? When looking for the best company to purchase your fruit basket, you'll want to consider the following:

  • Supplier of the Fruit. Where is the fruit grown and how does it make its way to your gift basket? Will it change hands several times before it gets to you? Or will it come straight from the orchard? The freshest fruits will come from companies with a direct connection to an Orchard.
  • Selection. How many different choices does the company have? Do they have a range of prices and sizes available so that you can find the perfect one? Is there variety in the contents of each basket to delight the recipient?
  • Cost. How does the cost compare from one site to another? How much fruit am I getting in the basket compared to a similar product on another site? What are the shipping costs? Are there any service fees?
  • Satisfaction Guarantee. Does the site offer a satisfaction guarantee? Under what circumstances will that guarantee be valid? Fresh fruit is a perishable item that is rarely able to be returned. Working with a company that has a satisfaction guarantee will protect you and ensure you are satisfied with your purchase.
