Costume Supercenter makes it easy for you to find and purchase the perfect Halloween costume. Not only do they have the best selection and best overall prices, they've created a customer friendly shopping experience that exceeded our expectations.
Costume Supercenter offers a wide selection of both child and adult costumes, along with low cost options and a very good plus size assortment. And if you're looking for costume accessories such as hats, wigs, masks, shoes, canes, jewelry, or makeup, Costume Supercenter has a nice variety to choose from.
The well-organized website at Costume Supercenter is easy to navigate, with vivid pictures and detailed descriptions of each costume they offer. You can choose from several costume categories such as Girls Costumes, Boys Costumes, Sale, Infant, Women's Costumes, Men's Costumes, Sexy Costumes, Teen Costumes, and more.
Once you've chosen your costume category, you can drill down further by either typing in your theme, or selecting from over 50 different costume themes - such as 60's costumes, Disney costumes, couples costumes, and more. Most costume themes have an excellent selection of costumes to choose from, no matter what your budget.
After you select your costume, Costume Supercenter conveniently shows you related costume accessories that you may be interested in. We found this a very helpful feature, being a helpful reminder and saving us time in searching through lists of other products.
We were also excited about the customer friendly policies at Costume Supercenter. Some of these include:
Costume Supercenter has been in business since 2005. They hold an A rating at the Better Business Bureau, due in part to their commitment to customer satisfaction.
With excellent pricing, a huge selection of quality costumes, super friendly exchange policies and a helpful customer service team, Costume Supercenter should be your first stop for your next costume search. They earn our highest rating.
Costumes4Less has an impressive selection of Halloween costumes, along with a selection of party supplies, wedding supplies, shoes, and - oddly enough - lingerie. At the time of our review, they carried more than 9,000 costume items ranging from infant to adult, across a wide variety of brands and themes. Prices start at just over $8 and go all the way up to nearly $1,500.
One of the easiest ways to find what you're looking for is to use Costume4Less' Costume Finder, located on their main Halloween Costume page. You can choose to filter their inventory by age range, gender, price, category, or theme. There's also a handy scrolling section beneath the Costume Finder that shows popular costume themes; we did think that some of them were a little outdated (e.g. Powerpuff Girls and Alice Through the Looking Glass).
We thought it was amusing to see a "Wheel of Fortune" pop-up when we visited the site: spin the wheel to get a discount ranging from 1% to 5% on your purchase. Be aware that you'll have to enter your email after you spin, and that the coupon is only valid for 24 hours. (For what it's worth, we spun and got a 5% discount.) You'll want that discount - Costumes4Less' prices were almost always higher than what we found on competitor websites.
Shipping is free on orders of $65 and higher, with a delivery timeframe of up to 8 business days. Expect to pay $7.95 in shipping costs for the first item, $4.95 for the second item, and $3.95 for the third item if your order is less than $65.
One confusing aspect of Costumes4Less' shipping policies is that you have to pay attention to which warehouse your items would be shipped from. When you enter your zip code on the Shipping information section (under the customer service link at the top of the page), you get a table with nearly two dozen warehouses and your expected delivery dates. If you're ordering multiple costume items, it's up to you to figure out if you'll get your items when you need them if they're coming from different locations. That's a layer of hassle that many customers won't like.
Given that the site proudly announces that Costumes4Less has been "online since 2003", we were surprised to see that they have no grade or accreditation with the Better Business Bureau. As we began to read what customers had to say about their experience with this retailer, it became apparent that people are generally not so thrilled with Costumes4Less. The words they most often use are "cheap", "poor quality", and "rip-off" - definitely not what you want to hear when deciding where to get your Halloween costume.
Many customers specifically disliked Costumes4Less' approach to returns: expect a 5% restocking fee and no refund on any shipping charges. If you want an exchange, however, you can do so for free - but with so many shoppers saying that the costumes or accessories they received were poorly made, fell apart when they got them, or were just "off" in general, this exchange policy doesn't seem like it'll do you much good.
For all of these reasons, Costumes4Less failed to impress with respect to Halloween costume shopping. We suggest you take a look at a more reputable retailer for your purchase.
