FRANK BEE COSTUME CENTER

The website offered by Frank Bee Costumes is easy to navigate, if somewhat dated. A variety of costumes are divided into categories along the left side; included are Adult, Full cut, Children, Accessories, Capes, Masks, Wigs, Mascots, Funny Characters, Makeup, and Sale items. Within these categories are subcategories of items. For example, under Adult you'll find 70 subcategories including Arabian nights, flappers & zoot suits, and movies. Under Kids, you'll find boys/girls, Harry Potter, and Barbie.

With so many categories, it sometimes became confusing to find what we were looking for. Scary costumes, for example, are spread out between multiple categories, making it difficult to find exactly what we were looking for.

We were impressed with the large selection of costumes under each category. There are thousands of items between all categories and the selection process is easy to navigate. Unfortunately, it seemed that Frank Bee costumes didn't offer the latest costumes; often we found newer items on the other websites that were missing from the selections here. For the items that were shared, prices were competitive with the other sites in our review.

Frank Bee offers a simple return policy; they are not accepted. Sales are considered final on all costumes and accessories. This is a difficult policy to live with when doing business on the internet, especially with costumes that may or may not fit the consumer.

There is no FAQ section offered by Frank Bee Costumes. They do offer links to shipping information and sizing from their home page, but provide no further assistance online. This is a consumer-friendly service that should be rectified.

Frank Bee Costumes have been doing business since 1957. They offer a large selection of costumes at competitive prices. However, with a nonexistent return policy, dated website, and questionable selection, there are better options for the Halloween shopper.

FIND COSTUME

Advertising that we could "find the perfect costume in half the time", we were hopeful that Find Costume would help us do just that. And, with a perfect A+ rating at the Better Business Bureau under FC's parent company, Future Memories, we expected an excellent experience. We were disappointed.

Yes, prices are low at Find Costume. We found that the costumes they carry are usually the same price as or lower than what their competitors are selling. Also, at the time of our review, there was a coupon code at the top of the page offering a discount of 5%.

Find Costume's selection is average. We looked at the page showing the year's top costume trends and found several costumes that were outdated - definitely not this year's hottest costumes. We also saw on the main page showing group costumes, one of the featured costumes was for a children's TV show that has been off the air for several years, and not likely to be a theme that adults today would want to wear.

What about shipping? How does Find Costume compare? That's a great question. FC has no posted shipping policy, leaving it as an unknown until a shopper actually puts something in the cart and enters their shipping information. We found that on a $20 costume, the shipping costs were $6.95. When we increased our order to $60, the shipping costs were $8.95. There was no way to know how much Find Costume charges for orders of other sizes, short of putting more items in our cart.

Find Costume's return policy is not customer-friendly. If you buy a costume in the month of October, it is non-returnable, no exceptions. Any other time of the year, you'll pay a 20% restocking fee - or a 10% restocking fee if you want an exchange instead. And, by the way, there are no returns or exchanges on "masks, hats, costumes with hats, bodysuits, shoes, costumes with asks, or mascot costumes".

What's worse, Find Costume has a disclaimer that blames the manufacturer if the costume you receive isn't like what's pictured on the site. We found one customer review describing how she ordered a firefighter costume for a boy made out of plastic/neoprene materials and instead received a toddler-sized costume made out of polyester - but Find Costume accepted no responsibility for the difference from what they advertised.

Shopping for your Halloween outfits at Find Costume could be a scary experience, full of tricks and few treats. We strongly recommend you consider a better-ranked retailer for your Halloween costume shopping.
