Where can you get the best health insurance? Healthcare costs are on the rise and constantly changing. There are few things in life as important as your health, and when professional care is needed, you want to ensure you're getting the best treatment that won't break the bank. There are also few things as confusing as the ins and outs of insurance and medical treatment costs. Being informed about the differences in healthcare coverage options will help you avoid surprise bills after seeing a provider.

It could take a frustrating amount of time to call around to different insurance companies to compare rates and coverage. Unfortunately, some providers are very hard to reach by phone and make you jump through hoops to have your questions answered. Transparency and accessibility from your health insurance company is important so you know what you are paying for. Thankfully there are many online sources to help you compare these companies quickly.

Insurance Quotes provides a lot of health insurance information on their website, but the user interface appears unprofessional and messy. Grammatical errors can be found throughout the website and ongoing blocks of text make it hard to quickly get the information you need. Since Insurance Quotes also caters to individuals looking for auto insurance, life insurance, home insurance, and business insurance, the health insurance information is broader and harder to isolate from the other topics.

When health insurance is selected on the main page and a zip code is inputted, the website was automatically directing us to a page about saving money on car insurance. This was frustrating since we were not looking for auto insurance and had to find another way to search for health insurance quotes on the site. At one point we were able to navigate to the health insurance section, but other times the website would glitch and we were not able to return to the page that would allow us to search for health insurance quotes.

When we were able to get to the health insurance page at one point, we were asked for our name, date of birth, email address, phone number, and full address along with some other basic tax information. We were not thrilled about being required to provide a full address, phone number, and email. A disclaimer was attached letting us know that we were authorizing them to contact us up to eight times via insurance agents or related companies.

After submitting this form, we were redirected to a completely different site that listed a couple of options for health insurance plans. These plans can be filtered by the premium range, coverage max, deductible, and coinsurance amounts. Through this third-party site, you can apply for any of the health insurance plans listed. The insurance options provided were scarce and mostly small insurance companies we hadn't heard of.

Overall, the user experience with Insurance Quotes was frustrating and did not yield useful results for us. Not only were we prohibited from navigating to the health insurance search page after a few minutes of exploring the site, but the user experience was messy and unprofessional. We suggest going with one of our higher-rated sites when searching for health insurance plans.

Understanding the differences between health insurance coverage options is also useful for when your needs change. If you have a change in employment, location, or overall physical health, you may end up needing a different kind of insurance. Being able to compare quotes easily online will save you a lot of work and give you peace of mind about making this big change.

Before diving into the world of health insurance selection services, we suggest you take the following things into consideration:

  • Convenience. Do you have to make a phone call to an agent every time you have a question? Ideally you are able to obtain insurance quotes online and skip the hassle of making phone calls all day.
  • Accessibility. When you need to speak to an agent, you want to get a human on the phone without having to talk to a series of robots first. If you have an urgent question, it will also be important for you to be able to speak to someone without waiting on hold forever.
  • Transparency. Do you know exactly what providers are covered through each health insurance company? Do you know how much they will pay vs. how much you will pay? What happens after you meet your deductible? Make sure you are able to find out all the little details about a health insurance company so that you aren't feeling lost or overwhelmed about your treatment options.
