Cost:

$21.79 for two 1.8 oz tubes of cream

Preparation H is a hemorrhoid symptom cream designed to relieve the burning, itching, pain, and discomfort that comes with hemorrhoids. This product targets external hemorrhoid symptoms only, so if you're experiencing an internal problem you'll need a different product.

Great value

Preparation H gives the biggest bang for your buck when compared to other retailers selling hemorrhoid relief because you get two 1.8 ounce tubes per purchase. Each tube contains more ointment than most competitors' products, so two tubes should last quite a while, even when applying up to four times daily as instructed. Customers have the option of setting up automatic delivery of Preparation H to get refills shipped from every 2 weeks to every 6 months.

Free shipping over $25

The cost for Preparation H is $21.79, which isn't bad for two tubes. If you choose to do the auto-delivery, you'll save 5% each time, making the hemorrhoid relief cream even more affordable than it already is. If you spend over $25, then Preparation H ships free.

45 day reimbursement policy

If you're unsatisfied with Preparation H when you try it out, their manufacturer, GSK Consumer Healthcare, will provide you with a full reimbursement within 45 days of the date of purchase. This should give most people enough time to know if this cream was effective in dealing with their symptoms.

List of ingredients

One concern we have with Preparation H is that their ingredients are not listed online. They list that the cream is a blend of glycerin, phenylephrine HCL, pramoxine HCL and white petroleum, but that is not the full list. For customers interested in knowing what Preparation H contains, they are instructed to see the package. Of course, there are pictures of the box on the sales page, but none showing the side that lists ingredients.

Mixed customer reviews

Last but not least, we are always interested in hearing what people have to say about the effectiveness of the product. Although there are over 250 reviews from customers resulting in 4.5/5 stars, we were put off by some of the details that customers gave about the cream they received. The first is that this product is supposed to be "maximum strength" according to the product description, but nowhere on the product does it actually say that. There were also frequent reports from other customers saying that although they got some relief when using Preparation H, it was no more than they got from other products they had tried.

Good for auto-delivery

In the end, Preparation H is a good option for anyone wanting to set up auto-delivery for a hemorrhoid relief product that will last longer than some competing products. However, we don't like that customers aren't able to view the ingredient list. Because of this, we have given Preparation H an average rating.

Cost:

$39.95 for a 1 oz tube (one month's supply) with discounts if you buy in bulk

Venapro is made and sold by a company called BuyHealth that was founded in 2002. The main uses for Venapro advertised by BuyHealth include shrinking hemorrhoids, stopping pain, stopping itchiness, and stopping bleeding. They boast that Venapro is FDA-approved and helps customers avoid risky surgeries.

Ingredients not listed

We are always interested in the ingredients a product contains when it is labeled as 100% safe with no harmful chemicals included. There is an ingredients link on the Venapro product page, but unfortunately it doesn't actually work or show you anything. Needless to say, Venapro's ingredients are not listed, which is a huge red flag when dealing with health products.

Discounts for larger orders

If you plan on purchasing Venapro, you have three pricing options. You can buy a one-month supply for $39.95 (more expensive than most hemorrhoid relief options), a 3-month supply for $79.90, or a 5-month supply for $119.85. Standard shipping on top of these prices is $6.95.

Return policy unhelpful

BuyHealth has a guarantee on their products that allows customers to return any unused and unopened items for a full refund within 90 days of purchase for any reason. This is pretty unhelpful considering the use of the product disqualifies it from a refund, so how would you know whether or not Venapro worked?

Questionable images

The BuyHealth website is just cheesy enough to make you doubt the products they sell. If nothing else, you'll get a chuckle over the dramatic images of a husband and wife running on the beach (away from the troubles of hemorrhoids we assume), or the woman jumping for joy in the clouds next to the woman hunched over in pain… also sitting in the clouds. The man in the hospital bed with breathing tubes really drives the dramatization of hemorrhoids home for us. While this doesn't reflect the product itself, it also doesn't help us feel like we can take Venapro very seriously either.

Avoidance is best

Our assumptions from browsing the BuyHealth website are not too far off the mark considering they have a failing F rating from the Better Business Bureau. Any positive customer reviews we found were from 2014 or earlier, which is a signal that they don't have a large customer base and that their business practices have likely gone downhill over the last few years. This alone is a good enough reason for us to discourage customers from buying Venapro. You'll be much more likely to get a quality product that actually delivers hemorrhoid relief if you choose any of the higher-ranked options in our review.

Continued from above

These symptoms may vary depending on the type of hemorrhoid you have (external or internal). Regardless of the symptoms you are experiencing, hemorrhoids are both frustrating and extremely uncomfortable.

Sometimes referred to as "piles", hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the rectum and anus that can cause bleeding. Causes of this painful condition can include straining during a bowel movement, pregnancy, obesity, a low-fiber diet, or regular heavy lifting.

There are quite a few behavioral changes that can deal with hemorrhoids. These include such activities as exercise, eating more fiber, drinking plenty of fluids, and avoiding long periods of sitting or straining. However, many people find this is not enough and they need additional help. Fortunately, there are quite a few products on the market that are effective and nice to have on hand in case you experience hemorrhoids again in the future. Many of them are homeopathic, using natural ingredients to relieve your symptoms, instead of the harsh chemicals you might find in a prescription-based option or typical over-the-counter product.

Before spending your money on a hemorrhoid relief product, we suggest you take the following things into consideration:

  • Cost. Hemorrhoid relief products shouldn't be too expensive. Find something you'll be able to buy a few times if needed without stretching your wallet.
  • Effectiveness. It's helpful to know if customers who have used a product have seen success. Obviously you don't want to waste your time and money on something that will do you no good.
  • Return Policy. Since no two people are the same, you might find that even if there is a product that comes highly recommended, it might not work as well as you'd hoped. Ideally you'll be able to get your money back if this is the case.

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best hemorrhoid relief products on the market today. We hope this information helps you find the right product to relieve your discomfort quickly and affordably!
