Mr Beer is a great system for the novice to intermediate home beer brewer. This Arizona based business started in 1993 and has sold over 1,000,000 micro brew systems. Mr Beer takes pride in their product with a customer friendly return policy and quality ingredients.
Mr Beer offers four different home brewing systems at varying, yet affordable prices. Each system includes with the following:
The Mr Beer website is easy to navigate and very informative. Learn how to properly clean the equipment, get involved in a home brewing community forum, and have all of your questions answered. You'll also find a variety of additional beer flavors to try across the gamut of popular micro brews.
Free shipping is available on the two more expensive home systems, otherwise shipping is very affordable at a flat $7.95 rate. Should you not be satisfied with your product Mr Beer comes with an impressive 320 day return policy.
Customers appreciate the simplicity of Mr Beer from the website, the instructions and the tools provided. Mr Beer makes an excellent gift choice for anyone that enjoys beer. If you are looking for a home brewing equipment or delicious beer recipes Mr Beer should be your first stop.
Midwest Homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies is a Minneapolis based, A+ Better Business Bureau company that focuses on education and customer service. Midwest is the only company that appears to cater to all levels of home brewers. If this is your first or one thousandth batch of beer Midwest has the equipment and supplies you'll need.
The Midwest Homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies website is easy to use. Quickly choose from brewing equipment, ingredients, kegging, or all-grain brewing and then locate exactly what you're looking for within very detailed subcategories. They offer a huge amount of beer recipe kits and well priced equipment. Unlike other companies we noticed that they weren't out of stock on several items.
Midwest Supplies a nice selection of 8 different home brewing systems. Each system includes:
We liked the customer reviews present on most of the product pages. We also thought the ale of the month kit was a fun idea. Essentially this allows you to purchase for yourself or a friend a monthly delivery of a varying flavor of brewing ingredients. The return policy at Midwest includes 30 days for any unused items.
Midwest Homebrewing and Winemaking Supplies caters to all levels of home beer brewers with a huge selection of supplies and equipment and helpful, free videos to educate through each step and a well designed website to simplify the process. The return policy was fair but less generous and shipping is not free. If you are looking for home brew equipment Midwest Supplies is worthy of your time.
More Beer is a brewing supply emporium in business since 1995. It appears that if they make it, More Beer sells it. The website is positioned more for the intermediate to advanced home brewer who knows what they're looking for.
Upon arrival to More Beer we felt a little overwhelmed with the lay out and appearance of the website. However, we utilized the search functionality on the left side of the home page to focus on what we were looking for. We found a plethora of home brewing equipment including starter kits, ingredients, cleaners, dispensers, pumps, and much more.
More Beer essentially sells 5 different home brewing systems. Each system includes:
The return policy at More Beer includes a less generous 30 days and perishable goods may not be returned. Shipping is free on any orders totaling more than $59.00.
Overall, More Beer is geared more for the advanced to expert micro-brewist who is previously educated on home brewing and appreciates quality products. More Beer does offer nice free shipping on larger orders and we appreciated the intensive Learning Center provided on the website. If you are a home brewer or know someone that likes a more detailed project, as well as enjoys drinking beer, More Beer is worth a second look.
DIY Beer website is exactly what it seems. They provide a one size fits all home brew system along with a nice selection of beer mixes, accessories, extracts, and more. DIY Beer is a family run business that started back in the late 1800's. The website and products are geared more for the novice to intermediate home beer maker.
DIY Beer provides a straightforward, easy to navigate website. This in part, is the result of only offering one home brew system to choose from. However, we appreciated the layout and organization of the products they offer.
The home brew kit includes:
Shipping is a free on orders over $50 and a flat rate of $7.95. Should you not be satisfied with your purchase you may return within 30 days for a full refund. You may also read or participate in their brewers blog or sign up for their free newsletter. One of our few concerns with DIY Beer was the lack of easily accessible customer service. Should you have a questions you must email and await a response. This may be frustration for someone that has a problem or urgent question.
If you are looking for a simple home brewing system or gift DIY Beer provides an easy to follow product that will meet the needs of a novice micro-brewer. We would have liked to have seen a more accessible customer service team but appreciated the low cost shipping and the easy to navigate website.
The Beer Machine was developed in the mid 90's by beer enthusiasts who wanted to help others easily produce micro brewed beer from home. The Beer Machine produces beer quickly - simply add water and allow to ferment for 7-10 days.
The Beer Machine website was a turn off until we were able to mute the sound of the video playing upon arrival. We felt the voice on the video was a bit ominous and startled us. We weren't ready for a video at that point and would have left immediately if we didn't have research to complete. We next figured out that we had to click on our country's flag to enter the correct website and then scroll down to learn about the product. The overall website layout was confusing and time consuming.
The Beer Machine offers two models to choose from. Included with your purchase is the machine, that does all of the work for you, along with one beer mix. You simply add water and then wait - which leaves little to the imagination.
Shipping is expensive at The Beer Machine. You can anticipate paying $14.95 or more which was steep compared to other products we reviewed. If you aren't satisfied with your Beer Machine purchase you may return within 30 days for a full refund.
The Beer Machine takes a lot of fun out of the home micro-brewery by oversimplifying the beer making process. Unfortunately the website is not also oversimplified and leaves a lot to the imagination on possible improvements. If you are looking for brewing supplies or a gift we recommend you shop a higher ranked product.
