LendingTree is a leader in the mortgage business. Founded in 1996, LendingTree has successfully helped take the stress out of borrowing money for millions of customers. They currently hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and provide the most user-friendly, comprehensive home loan website available today.
LendingTree expedites the loan process by providing their customers a list of the best loans available for their specific needs and credit score. Their website lets you to enter all the necessary details and information directly into their system, to quickly find the best mortgage terms suited for your specific loan. This process is free and secure. LendingTree has relationships with over 150 banks and lenders which completely eliminates the time and effort needed to compare several loans at once before making a selection.
Another bonus with the LendingTree website is the extensive home loan tools they provide. These tools help customers identify how large of a mortgage they can afford, and what type of loans exist. They also provide extensive articles on the mortgage process including down payments, closing costs, and much more.
For customers with a lower credit score, LendingTree provides information on credit repair and a credit monitoring service to make sure your credit report is as clean and strong as possible before applying for a home loan.
LendingTree has designed the most comprehensive website that is equipped to quickly and painlessly match lenders to home loan borrowers in minutes. The number of lender relationships, the helpful tools, the professionalism, and additional services all make LendingTree the go-to website for all of your home loan needs. They earn our highest rating.
Quicken Loans have been in the home loan and mortgage refinance business for over 28 years and strive to close the majority of their loans within 30 days or less. They currently hold an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau and have historically closed billions of dollars in loans each year. Much like other companies reviewed, they work with varying lenders but act as the loan processor and closer in the process.
The website is well designed and easy to follow with step-by-step instructions that eliminate unclear expectations of the Quicken process.
You may start the loan inquiry process online for free, however an application fee exists if you decide to move forward with the loan presented by Quicken. This fee to is to cover the cost of running a credit report and managing the loan process.
Quicken Loans also provides credit repair information, in case you want or need to raise your credit score before applying for a loan. Their website provides some informative details on loan types, loan rates and more.
Quicken Loans is an strong choice for a home loan. We would have liked to have seen more information regarding their lenders and a little more loan detail before have to speak with a Quicken representative. However, if you're in the market for a home loan, Quicken Loans (877-715-0889) is a great place to start.
Smart Quote is newer to the home loan business and is unique from the other companies reviewed. Smart Quote essentially asks website visitors the same questions as the companies ranked higher to allow the shopper to compare the rates of several home loan referral and mortgage companies at once. It sounds confusing, we know. In a nut shell, instead of going to Quicken, Lending Tree, and more traditional lenders for their best rates, Smart Quote will do it for you. However, the information is more generalized and less specific to each client. The benefit is that if someone isn't happy with the rates they've received, they may use Smart Quote to see what other lenders are issuing loans in their state, for that size of loan.
The inquiry process is simple at Smart Quote.
Smart Quote is a good tool for those that are having trouble finding loan terms that they can be comfortable with. The challenge with using Smart Quote is that the results may not apply to that individual borrower, they are only best rate quotes and the shopper must then go to a new website to start a more official process.
The website does offer a few resources and tools such as a mortgage calculator, home affordability information, and links to some informative articles.
For those that visit the higher ranked home loan companies and are wondering if they've missed any other home loan options, Smart Quote is a tool that can help. The only downside to Smart Quote is that it's very generalized information and is likely not to apply to all customers creditworthiness.
Freedom Mortgage is a New Jersey based company that provides a variety of home loan and refinancing options. In business since 1990, Freedom has helped thousands of customers with their home loan needs and works with customers in all 50 states. Freedom serves as the mortgage originator and loan servicer but also states that they have lending partners.
The application process is pretty straightforward and traditional at Freedom Mortgage.
The Freedom website has an extensive list of tools for the home buyer. Identify mortgage rates, the difference between loan types, mortgage calculators, education tools and much more. The website also offers a blog with a plethora of additional articles and details on home loans.
Freedom also offers a pre-qualification process if you have not yet identified the home you wish to buy. The process is similar to that of applying for a loan and the anticipated turn around is typically a few days.
Freedom Mortgage doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of those companies ranked higher. Specifically, the list of potential competitive loan choices are shorter. Freedom is similar to finding a local lender but without the hassle of making an appointment, leaving work and being fixed to bank hours. Freedom does offer a nice variety of loan types and their customer representatives.
The Easy Loan Site is a no frills home loan and refinance website that focuses on connecting mortgage shoppers with lenders based on each customers needs. The Easy Loan Site has an A rating from the Better Business Bureau and is Norton secure certified.
Immediately we noticed that the website lacks much of the information and resources we had grown to expect from those companies ranked higher. There are no investment research tools, market analysis or any of the other helpful features we found elsewhere. The main page simply states the company name, advertises the lowest rate available today, and lures potential clients to "lock in now".
There is a simple drop down menu box from which you can select the type of loan you are looking for (new mortgage, refinance, or equity loan) and then it continues to take you through a long list of questions designed to determine which lenders could provide the best deal based on the requirements of the customer.
The process for filling out the online form is made very simple with the use of this drop down window. In less than a minute we were able to navigate through the various questions and get to a screen that showed us three competing lenders with rates that looked fairly competitive. We were also given notice at that point that we would be contacted by lenders within 24 hours.
Everything worked as it should, but the experience left us a little unimpressed because the site offered so little other than a basic loan search engine. With no research tools or any other information, The Easy Loan Site may be a fine place to look for a mortgage lender but a basic search engine is about all they offer.
Lower My Bills is a free online service that provides rate comparison information for home loans, refinance loans, home equity loans, debt consolidation and more. Their philosophy is that if you can find a lower cost provider you can save money on your monthly bills. The process of obtaining those free quotes is simple and includes answering questions related to the type of home, credit score range, mortgage size, down payment, employment status, address, phone number and a few other simple questions.
Like many visitors of Lower My Bills, after the questionnaire was completed we expected a list of rates to appear given the very detailed and personal information we had provided. However, we only received four links to different websites that wanted the same information completed. Some of those four links even provided erroneous results - furthering our disappointment. This left us wondering what Lower My Bills was planning to do with our personal information.
Lower My Bills missed the mark in providing, convenient and informative loan rate information. We felt the effort was an unfortunate waste of our time.
Today, home loan rates and home prices are very favorable to the buyer. Not only can you find a great home at a good price, you can usually borrow money at very affordable rates. And lending companies are once again eager to loan money to well qualified buyers.
A savvy home buyer should take the time to determine which home loan lender has the best home loan rates. Shopping for the right home loan can save you thousands of dollars in interest and mortgage payments. A low home interest rate can also enable you to pay off your home loan years ahead of schedule.
Traditionally this involved visiting different banks and lending institutions, filling out paperwork, and waiting for a reply to come in the mail. Using the internet, however, makes this process much easier. With this latest trend in finding a home mortgage, you can easily browse through offers from a variety of lenders in the comfort of your own home. You'll find that online home loan lenders often offer the best home loan rates.
